16:1	The Pharises also, with the Sadduces, came, and tempting, desired him that hee would shew them a signe from heauen.
16:2	He answered, and said vnto them, When it is euening, yee say, It will bee faire weather: for the skie is red.
16:3	And in the morning, It will be foule weather to day: for the skie is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, yee can discerne the face of the skie, but can ye not discerne the signes of the times?
16:4	A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a signe, and there shall no signe be giuen vnto it, but the signe of the Prophet Ionas. And hee left them, and departed.
16:5	And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
16:6	Then Iesus said vnto them, Take heed and beware of the leauen of the Pharises, and of the Sadduces.
16:7	And they reasoned among themselues, saying, It is because we haue taken no bread.
16:8	Which when Iesus perceiued, he said vnto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among your selues, because ye haue brought no bread?
16:9	Doe ye not yet vnderstand, neither remember the fiue loaues of the fiue thousand, and how many baskets ye tooke vp?
16:10	Neither the seuen loaues of the foure thousand, and how many baskets ye tooke vp?
16:11	How is it that ye doe not vnderstand, that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leauen of the Pharises, and of the Sadduces?
16:12	Then vnderstood they how that he bade them not beware of the leauen of bread: but of the doctrine of the Pharisees, and of the Sadduces.
16:13	When Iesus came into the coasts of Cesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom doe men say, that I, the sonne of man, am?
16:14	And they said, Some say that thou art Iohn the Baptist, some Elias, and others Ieremias, or one of ye Prophets.
16:15	He saith vnto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16:16	And Simon Peter answered, and said, Thou art Christ the sonne of the liuing God.
16:17	And Iesus answered, and said vnto him, Blessed art thou Simon Bar Iona: for flesh and blood hath not reueiled it vnto thee, but my Father which is in heauen.
16:18	And I say also vnto thee, that thou art Peter, and vpon this rocke I will build my Church: and the gates of hell shall not preuaile against it.
16:19	And I will giue vnto thee the keyes of the kingdome of heauen: and whatsoeuer thou shalt bind on earth, shall be bound in heauen: whatsoeuer thou shalt loose on earth, shall be loosed in heauen.
16:20	Then charged hee his disciples that they should tel no man that he was Iesus the Christ.
16:21	From that time foorth began Iesus to shew vnto his disciples, how that he must goe vnto Hierusalem, and suffer many things of the Elders and chiefe Priests & Scribes, and be killed, and be raised againe the third day.
16:22	Then Peter tooke him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it farre from thee Lord: This shal not be vnto thee.
16:23	But he turned, and said vnto Peter, Get thee behind mee, Satan, thou art an offence vnto me: for thou sauourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
16:24	Then said Iesus vnto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him denie himselfe, and take vp his crosse, and follow me.
16:25	For whosoeuer will saue his life, shall lose it: and whosoeuer will lose his his life for my sake, shall finde it.
16:26	For what is a man profited, if hee shal gaine the whole world, and lose his owne soule? Or what shall a man giue in exchange for his soule?
16:27	For the sonne of man shall come in the glory of his father, with his Angels: and then he shall reward euery man according to his works.
16:28	Uerely I say vnto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Sonne of man comming in his Kingdome.

16:2	He aunswered & sayde vnto them: when it is euenyng, ye say, [it wyll be] fayre weather: for the sky is redde.
16:3	And in the mornyng, It wyll be foule weather to day: for the sky is lowryng redde. O ye hypocrites, ye can discerne the outwarde appearaunce of the sky: but can ye not discerne the signes of the tymes?
16:4	The froward and adulterous nation requireth a signe: and there shall no signe be geuen vnto it, but the signe of the prophete Ionas. And he left them, and departed.
16:5	And when his disciples were come to the other syde of the water, they had forgotten to take bread [with them].
16:6	Then Iesus sayde vnto them: Take heede and beware of the leuen of the Pharisees, and of the Saducees.
16:7	And they thought in them selues, saying: for we haue taken no bread [with vs].
16:8	Which when Iesus vnderstoode, he sayde vnto them: O ye of little fayth, why thynke you within your selues, because ye haue brought no bread?
16:9	Do ye not yet perceaue, neither remember those fyue loaues, when there were fyue thousande [men], and howe many baskets toke ye vp?
16:10	Neither the seuen loaues, when there were foure thousande [men], and howe many baskets toke ye vp?
16:11	Howe is it that ye do not vnderstande, that I spake it not vnto you concernyng bread, [warnyng you] that ye shoulde beware of the leuen of the Pharisees, and of the Saducees?
16:12	Then vnderstoode they, howe that he bad not them beware of the leuen of bread: but of the doctrine of the Pharisees, and of the Saducees.
16:13	When Iesus came into the coastes of Cesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying: Whom do men say that I the sonne of man am?
16:14	They sayde: some say [that thou art] Iohn Baptist, some Helias, some Ieremias, or one of the prophetes.
16:15	He sayth vnto them: but whom say ye that I am?
16:16	Simon Peter aunswered and sayde: Thou art Christe, the sonne of the lyuyng God.
16:17	And Iesus aunswered, and sayde vnto hym: happy art thou Simon Bar Iona, for flesh & blood hath not opened [that] vnto thee, but my father which is in heauen.
16:18	And I say also vnto thee, that thou art Peter, and vpon this rocke I wyll buylde my congregation: And the gates of hell shall not preuayle agaynst it.
16:19	And I wyll geue vnto thee, the keyes of the kingdome of heauen: And whatsoeuer thou byndest in earth, shalbe bounde in heauen: and whatsoeuer thou loosest in earth, shalbe loosed in heauen.
16:20	Then charged he his disciples, that they shoulde tell no man, that he was Iesus Christe.
16:21	From that tyme foorth, began Iesus to shewe vnto his disciples, howe that he must go vnto Hierusalem, and suffer many thynges of the elders, and hye priestes, & scribes, and [must] be kylled, and be raysed agayne the thyrde day.
16:22	And when Peter had taken him aside, he began to rebuke hym, saying: Lorde, fauour thy selfe, this shall not be vnto thee.
16:23	But he turned hym about, and sayde vnto Peter: go after me Satan, thou art an offence vnto me: for thou sauerest not the thynges that be of God, but those that be of men.
16:24	Then sayde Iesus vnto his disciples: If any man wyll folowe me, let hym forsake him selfe, and take vp his crosse, and folowe me.
16:25	For, who so wyll saue his lyfe, shall lose it: Agayne, who so doth lose his lyfe for my sake, shall fynde it.
16:26	For what doth it profite a man, yf he wynne all the whole worlde, and lose his owne soule? Or what shall a man geue for a raunsome of his soule?
16:27	For the sonne of man shall come in the glory of his father, with his Angels: and then shall he rewarde euery man accordyng to his workes.
16:28	Ueryly I say vnto you, there be some standyng here, which shall not taste of death, tyll they see the sonne of man come in his kyngdome.

16:21	From that time foorth Iesus beganne to shewe vnto his disciples, that he must goe vnto Hierusalem, and suffer many thinges of the Elders, and of the hie Priestes, and Scribes, and be slaine, and be raised againe the thirde day.
16:22	Then Peter tooke him aside, and began to rebuke him, saying, Master, pitie thy selfe: this shall not be vnto thee.
16:23	Then he turned backe, and said vnto Peter, Get thee behinde me, Satan: thou art an offence vnto me, because thou vnderstandest not the thinges that are of God, but the thinges that are of men.
16:24	Iesus then saide to his disciples, If any man will follow me, let him forsake himselfe: and take vp his crosse, and follow me.
16:25	For whosoeuer will saue his life, shall lose it: and whosoeuer shall lose his life for my sake, shall finde it.
16:26	For what shall it profite a man though he should winne the whole worlde, if hee lose his owne soule? or what shall a man giue for recompence of his soule?
16:27	For the Sonne of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his Angels, and then shall he giue to euery man according to his deedes.
16:28	Verely I say vnto you, there bee some of them that stande here, which shall not taste of death, till they haue seene the Sonne of man come in his kingdome.
