17:1And after .vi. dayes, Iesus taketh Peter, Iames and Iohn hys brother, and bringeth them vp into an hye mountaine out of the waye,
17:2and was transfygured before them and hys face dyd shyne as the sonne, and hys clothes were as whyte as the lygh
17:3And beholde, there apered vnto them Moses & Elias talkyng wyth hym.
17:4Then answered Peter, and sayde vnto Iesus, Lorde, here is good beinge for vs. If thou wylt, let vs make here .iij. tabernacles: one for the, and one for Moses, and one for Helias.
17:5Whyle he yet spake, behold, a bright cloude shadowed them And beholde, there came a voyce out of the cloude whych sayd this is my beloued sonne in whom I delyte heare hym.
17:6And when the discyples hearde these thynges, they fell on theyr faces & were sore afrayed.
17:7And Iesus came & touched them, & sayd: aryse, & be not a frayd.
17:8And when they had lyft vp theyr eyes they sawe no man saue Iesus onely.
17:9And whan they came downe from the mountayne, Iesus charged them saying: shew the vysion to no man, vntyll the sonne of man be rysen agayne from the deed.
17:10And his disciples asked him, saying. Why then saye the Scribes, that Helias muste fyrst come?
17:11Iesus answered, and sayde vnto them Helias trulye shall fyrst come, and restore all thynges.
17:12But I saye vnto you, that Helias is come already, & they knewe him not: but haue done vnto hym whatsoeuer they lusted. In lykewyse shal also the sonne of man suffre of them.
17:13Then the disciples vnderstode, that he spake vnto them of Iohn Baptist.
17:14And when they were come to the people, ther came to him a certayne man knelyng downe to him, & sayeng:
17:15Master, haue mercy on my sonne, for he is lunatike & sore vexed, for oft tymes he falleth into the fyre, & oft into the water,
17:16And I brought him to thy disciples, & they coulde not heale him.
17:17Iesus answered & sayd: O faythles & croked nacion: how longe shall I be with you? how longe shall I suffre you? bring hym hyther.
17:18And Iesus rebuked the deuyll, & he departed out of him. And the chylde was healed euen that same tyme.
17:19Then came the disciples to Iesus secretly & sayde: Why could not we cast hym out?
17:20Iesus sayd vnto them: Because of youre vnbelefe. For verely I saye vnto you: yf ye haue fayth as a grayne of musterd seed, ye shall saye vnto this mountayne: remoue hence to yonder place, and it shall remoue: nether shal eny thinge be vnpossible vnto you.
17:21Howbeit thys kynde goeth not out, but by prayer and fastinge.
17:22While they were occupyed in Galile Iesus sayde vnto them: it wyll come to passe that the sonne of man shalbe betrayed into the handes of men,
17:23and they shall kyll him and the thyrd daye shall he ryse agayne. And they were exceadyng sorye.
17:24And when they were come to the cytie of Capernaum, they that vse to receaue tribute money, cam to Peter, & sayd: Doth your master paye trybute?
17:25He sayeth: yee. And when he was come into the house, Iesus preuented hym saying. What thinkest thou Simon? of whom do the kynges of the erth take trybute or toll, Of theyr chyldren, or of straungers?
17:26Peter sayeth vnto hym: of straungers: Iesus sayeth vnto him: Then are the chyldren fre:
17:27Not withstonding, lest we shuld offende them, go thou to the see, & cast an angle, & take the fysh that fyrst commeth vp: & when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt fynde a pece of twentie pence: that take, & geue it vnto them for me & the.

 

17:1And after sixe daies Jhesus took Petre, and James, and Joon, his brother, and ledde hem aside in to an hiy hil,
17:2and was turned in to an othir licnesse bifor hem. And his face schone as the sunne; and hise clothis weren maad white as snowe.
17:3And lo! Moises and Elie apperiden to hem, and spaken with hym.
17:4And Petre answeride, and seide to Jhesu, Lord, it is good vs to be here. If thou wolt, make we here thre tabernaclis; to thee oon, to Moises oon, and oon to Elye. Yit the while he spak, lo!
17:5a briyt cloude ouerschadewide hem; and lo! a voice out of the cloude, that seide, This is my dereworth sone, in whom Y haue wel pleside to me; here ye hym.
17:6And the disciplis herden, and felden doun on her faces, and dredden greetli.
17:7And Jhesus cam, and touchide hem, and seide to hem, Rise vp, and nyle ye drede.
17:8And thei liften vp her iyen, and saien no man, but Jhesu aloone.
17:9And as thei camen doun of the hille, Jhesus comaundide to hem, and seide, Seie ye to no man the visioun, til mannus sone rise ayen fro deeth.
17:10And his disciplis axiden hym, and seiden, What thanne seien the scribis, that it bihoueth that Elie come first?
17:11He answeride, and seide to hem, Elie schal come, and he schal restore alle thingis.
17:12And Y seie to you, that Elie is nowe comun, and thei knewen hym not, but thei diden in him what euer thingis thei wolden; and so mannus sone schal suffre of hem.
17:13Thanne the disciplis vndurstoden, that he seide to hem of Joon Baptist.
17:14And whanne he cam to the puple, a man cam to hym, and felde doun on hise knees bifor hym, and seide,
17:15Lord, haue merci on my sone; for he is lunatike, and suffrith yuele, for ofte tymes he fallith in to the fier, and ofte tymes in to water.
17:16And Y brouyte hym to thi disciplis, and thei myyten not heele hym.
17:17Jhesus answeride, and seide, A! thou generacion vnbileueful and weiward; hou long schal Y be with you? hou long schal Y suffre you? Brynge ye hym hider to me.
17:18And Jhesus blamede hym, and the deuel wente out fro hym; and the child was heelid fro that our.
17:19Thanne the disciplis camen to Jhesu priueli, and seiden to hym, Whi myyten not we caste hym out?
17:20Jhesus seith to hem, For youre vnbileue. Treuli Y seie to you, if ye han feith, as a corn of seneueye, ye schulen seie to this hil, Passe thou hennus, and it schal passe; and no thing schal be vnpossible to you;
17:21but this kynde is not caste out, but bi preiyng and fastyng.
17:22And whilis thei weren abidynge togidere in Galilee, Jhesus seide to hem, Mannus sone schal be bitraied in to the hondis of men;
17:23and thei schulen sle hym, and the thridde day he schal rise ayen to lijf.
17:24And thei weren ful sori. And whanne thei camen to Cafarnaum, thei that token tribute, camen to Petre, and seiden to hym, Youre maister payeth not tribute?
17:25And he seide, Yhis. And whanne he was comen in to the hous, Jhesus cam bifor hym, and seide, Symount, what semeth to thee? Kyngis of erthe, of whom taken thei tribute? of her sones, ether of aliens?
17:26And he seide, Of aliens. Jhesus seide to hym, Thanne sones ben fre.
17:27But that we sclaundre hem not, go to the see, and caste an hook, and take thilke fisch that first cometh vp; and, whanne his mouth is opened, thou schalt fynde a stater, and yyue for thee and for me.

17:8And whan they loked vp, they sawe no man, but Iesus onely.
17:9And wha they came downe fro ye mountayne, Iesus charged them, and sayde: Tell no man of this vision, tyll the sonne of man be rysen agayne from ye deed.
17:10And his disciples axed him, and sayde: Why saye the scrybes then, that Elias must first come?
17:11Iesus answered and sayde vnto them: Elias shall come first in dede, and bringe all thinges to right agayne.
17:12But I saye vnto you: Elias is come all ready, & they knewe him not, but haue done vnto him what they wolde. Eue so shal also the sonne of man suffre of them.
17:13Then the disciples perceaued, that he spake vnto them of Ihon the baptist.
17:14And whan they were come to the people, there came vnto him a certayne man, and kneled vnto him, and sayde:
17:15LORDE, haue mercy vpon my sonne, for he is lunatike, & sore vexed. He falleth oft tymes in to ye fyre, and oft in to ye water:
17:16and I brought him vnto thy disciples, and they coude not heale him.
17:17Iesus answered, and sayde: O thou faithles and frowarde generacion, how longe shal I be with you? How longe shal I suffre you? Bringe him hither to me.
17:18And Iesus rebuked him, and ye deuyll wete out of him, and ye childe was healed, euen that same houre.
17:19Then came the disciples vnto Iesus secretly, & sayde: Why coude not we cast him out?
17:20Iesus sayde vnto them: Because of youre vnbeleue. For I saye verely vnto you? Yf ye haue faith as a grane of mustarde sede, ye maye saye vnto this mountayne: Remoue hence to yonder place, and he shal remoue, nether shal enythinge be vnpossible vnto you
17:21How beit this kinde goeth not out, but by prayer and fastynge.
17:22Whyle they occupied in Galile, Iesus sayde vnto them: it wil come to passe, that the sonne of man shalbe delyuered in to the hondes of men,
17:23and they shal kyll him, and the thirde daye shal he aryse agayne. And they were very sory.
17:24Now wha they were come to Capernaum, they that receaued ye tribute money, came to Peter, and sayde: Doth youre master paye tribute?
17:25He sayed: yee. And when he was come home, Iesus preuented him, and sayde: What thinkest thou Symon? Of whom do the kynges of the earth take toll or tribute? Of their children, or of straungers?
17:26Then sayde Peter to him: Of straungers. Iesus sayde vnto him: Then are ye children fre.
17:27Neuertheles lest we offende them, go thy waye to the see, and cast thine angle, and take the fysh that first cometh vp, and whan thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt fynde a pece of twenty pens, take that, and geue it them for me and the.
