Matthew - Chapter: 21

>
21:1And when they drewe nigh vnto Hierusalem, and were come to Bethphage, vnto the mount of Oliues, then sent Iesus two Disciples,
21:2Saying vnto them, Goe into the village ouer against you, and straightway yee shall find an Asse tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them vnto me.
21:3And if any man say ought vnto you, yee shall say, The Lord hath need of them, and straightway hee will send them.
21:4All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Prophet, saying,
21:5Tell yee the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy king commeth vnto thee, meeke, and sitting vpon an Asse, and a colt, the foale of an Asse.
21:6And the Disciples went, and did as Iesus commanded them,
21:7And brought the Asse, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
21:8And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way, others cut downe branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
21:9And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the sonne of Dauid: Blessed is he that commeth in the Name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.
21:10And when hee was come into Hierusalem, all the citie was mooued, saying, Who is this?
21:11And the multitude said, This is Iesus the Prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
21:12And Iesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the Temple, and ouerthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that solde doues,
21:13And said vnto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer, but yee haue made it a denne of theeues.
21:14And the blind and the lame came to him in the Temple, & he healed them.
21:15And when the chiefe Priests and Scribes saw the wonderfull things that he did, & the children crying in the temple, & saying, Hosanna to the sonne of Dauid, they were sore displeased,
21:16And said vnto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Iesus saith vnto them, Yea, haue yee neuer read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
21:17And he left them, and went out of the citie into Bethany, and he lodged there.
21:18Now in the morning, as hee returned into the citie, he hungred.
21:19And when he saw a figge tree in the way, hee came to it, and found nothing thereon but leaues only, and said vnto it, Let no fruite growe on thee hence forward for euer. And presently the figge tree withered away.
21:20And when the Disciples saw it, they marueiled, saying, How soone is the figge tree withered away?
21:21Iesus answered, and said vnto them, Uerily I say vnto you, if yee haue faith, and doubt not, yee shall not onely doe this which is done to the figge tree, but also, if ye shall say vnto this mountaine, Be thou remoued, and be thou cast into the Sea, it shall be done.
21:22And all things whatsoeuer yee shall aske in prayer, beleeuing, ye shall receiue.
21:23And when he was come into the temple, the chiefe Priests and the Elders of the people came vnto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authoritie doest thou these things? and who gaue thee this authoritie?
21:24And Iesus answered, and said vnto them, I also will aske you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authoritie I doe these things.
21:25The baptisme of Iohn, whence was it? from heauen, or of men? and they reasoned with themselues saying, If we shall say, From heauen, hee will say vnto vs, Why did ye not then beleeue him?
21:26But if we shall say, Of men, we feare the people, for all hold Iohn as a Prophet.
21:27And they answered Iesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said vnto them, Neither tell I you by what authoritie I doe these things.
21:28But what thinke you? A certaine man had two sonnes, and he came to the first, and said, Sonne, goe worke to day in my vineyard.
21:29He answered, & said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
21:30And hee came to the second, and said likewise: and hee answered, and said, I goe sir, and went not.
21:31Whether of them twaine did the will of his father? They say vnto him, The first. Iesus saith vnto them, Uerely I say vnto you, that the Publicanes and the harlots go into the kingdome of God before you.
21:32For Iohn came vnto you in the way of righteousnesse, and ye beleeued him not: but the Publicanes and the harlots beleeued him. And ye when ye had seene it, repented not afterward, that ye might beleeue him.
21:33Heare another parable. There was a certaine house-holder, which planted a Uineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a wine-presse in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a farre countrey.
21:34And when the time of the fruite drew neere, he sent his seruants to the husbandmen, that they might receiue the fruits of it.
21:35And the husbandmen tooke his seruants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
21:36Againe hee sent other seruants, moe then the first, and they did vnto them likewise.
21:37But last of all, he sent vnto them his sonne, saying, They will reuerence my sonne.
21:38But when the husbandmen saw the sonne, they said among themselues, This is the heire, come, let vs kill him, and let vs sease on his inheritance.
21:39And they caught him, and cast him out of the Uineyard, and slew him.
21:40When the Lord therefore of the Uineyard commeth, what will he doe vnto those husbandmen?
21:41They say vnto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his Uineyard vnto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
21:42Iesus saith vnto them, Did ye neuer reade in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders reiected, the same is become the head of the corner? This is the Lords doing, and it is marueilous in our eyes.
21:43Therefore say I vnto you, the kingdome of God shall be taken from you, and giuen to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
21:44And whosoeuer shall fall on this stone, shalbe broken: but on whom soeuer it shall fall, it will grinde him to powder.
21:45And when the chiefe Priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceiued that he spake of them.
21:46But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they tooke him for a Prophet.

21:1And when they drewe nye vnto Hierusalem, & were come to Bethphage, vnto the mout of Oliues, the sent Iesus two disciples,
21:2Saying vnto the: Go into the towne that lyeth ouer agaynste you, and anone ye shall fynde an Asse tyed, & a colt with her: loose [them and] bryng [them] vnto me.
21:3And yf any man saye ought vnto you, saye ye, the Lorde hath nede of them: and strayghtway he wyll let them go.
21:4All this was done, that it myght be fulfylled which was spoken by the prophete, saying:
21:5Tell ye the daughter of Sion: behold, thy kyng commeth vnto thee meke, and syttyng vpon an Asse, & a colt, the foale of [the Asse] vsed to the yoke.
21:6The disciples went, and did as Iesus commaunded them,
21:7And brought the Asse, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and set hym theron.
21:8And many of the people spread their garmetes in the way. Other cut downe braunches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
21:9Moreouer, the multitudes that went before, & that came after, cryed, saying: Hosanna to the sonne of Dauid. Blessed is he that commeth in the name of the Lorde, Hosanna in the hyest.
21:10And when he was come into Hierusale, all the citie was moued, saying: who is this?
21:11And the multitude saide: This is Iesus that prophete of Nazareth in Galilee.
21:12And Iesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and ouerthrewe the tables of the money chaungers, and the seates of them that solde doues,
21:13And sayde vnto them, it is written: My house shalbe called the house of prayer, but ye haue made it a denne of thieues.
21:14And the blynde and the halt came to hym in the temple, and he healed them.
21:15When the chiefe priestes and scribes sawe the wonders that he dyd, and the chyldren crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the sonne of Dauid, they disdayned,
21:16And sayde vnto hym: Hearest thou what these saye? But Iesus sayth vnto them, yea, haue ye neuer read: Out of the mouth of babes & suckelynges thou hast ordeyned prayse?
21:17And he left them, and went out of the citie, vnto Bethanie: and he lodged there.
21:18In the mornyng, as he returned into the citie, he hungred.
21:19And when he sawe one fygge tree in the waye, he came to it, and founde nothyng theron but leaues only, & said vnto it: neuer fruite growe on thee henceforwarde. And anone the figge tree withered away.
21:20And when his disciples sawe it, they marueyled, saying: Howe soone is the figge tree wythered away?
21:21Iesus aunswered, and saide vnto the: Ueryly I saye vnto you, yf ye haue fayth, and doubt not, ye shall not onlye do this [which is done] to the figge tree: but also, yf ye shall say vnto this mountayne, be thou remoued, and, be thou cast into the sea, it shalbe done.
21:22And all thynges, whatsoeuer ye aske in prayer, beleuyng, ye shall receaue them.
21:23And when he was come into the temple, the chiefe priestes, & the elders of the people, came vnto hym teaching, and saye: By what aucthoritie doest thou these thynges? and who gaue thee this power?
21:24Iesus aunswered, & saide vnto them: I also wyll aske you one questio, which yf ye tell me, I in likewise wyll tell you by what aucthoritie I do these thinges:
21:25The baptisme of Iohn, whence was it, from heauen, or of men? And they reasoned with them selues saying: if we shall say from heauen, he wyll say vnto vs, why dyd ye not then beleue hym?
21:26But yf we shall say of men, then feare we the people: for all [men] holde Iohn as a prophete.
21:27And they aunswered vnto Iesus, and sayde: we can not tell. And he saide vnto them: neither tell I you, by what aucthoritie I do these thynges.
21:28But what thynke you? A man had two sonnes, and came to the firste, and saide: sonne, go and worke to day in my vineyarde.
21:29He aunswered and saide, I wyll not: but afterwarde he repented, and went.
21:30Then came he to the seconde, & sayde lykewyse. And he aunswered & saide, I wyll sir, and went not.
21:31Whether of them twayne did the wyl of the father? And they saide vnto him, the first. Iesus sayth vnto them: Ueryly I saye vnto you, that publicanes & harlottes go into the kingdome of God, before you.
21:32For Iohn came vnto you by the way of righteousnes, & ye beleued hym not: but publicanes & harlottes beleued him. And ye, when ye had sene [it] were not moued afterwarde with repentaunce, that ye myght haue beleued hym.
21:33Hearken another similitude. There was a certayne man, an householder, which made a vineyarde, & hedged it rounde about, and made a wynepresse in it, and buylt a towre, and let it out to husbande men: and went into a strange countrey.
21:34And when the time of the fruite drewe neare, he sent his seruauntes to the husbande men, that they might receaue the fruites of it.
21:35And the husbande men caught his seruauntes, and beatte one, killed another, and stoned another.
21:36Agayne, he sent other seruauntes, mo then the first: and they dyd vnto them lykewyse.
21:37But laste of all, he sent vnto them his owne sonne, saying: they wyll stande in awe of my sonne.
21:38But when the husband men sawe the sonne, they sayde among them selues: this is the heire, come, let vs kyll hym, and let vs enioy his inheritaunce.
21:39And they caught hym, and thrust him out of the vineyarde, and slewe [hym].
21:40When the Lorde therfore of the vineyarde commeth, what wyll he do vnto those husbande men?
21:41They sayde vnto hym: He wyll miserably destroy those wicked [men] & wyll let out his vineyard vnto other husband men, which shall delyuer him the fruite in due seasons.
21:42Iesus sayth vnto them. Did ye neuer reade in the Scriptures: The stone which the buylders refused, the same is become the head of the corner. This is the Lordes doing, and it is marueylous in our eyes.
21:43Therefore saye I vnto you, the kyngdome of God shalbe taken from you, & geuen to a nation bryngyng foorth the fruites therof.
21:44And whosoeuer falleth on this stone, shalbe broken in peeces: but on whomsoeuer it falleth, it shal all to grynd him.
21:45And when the chiefe priestes and pharisees had heard his parables, they perceaued that he spake of them.
21:46And they went about to laye handes on hym, but they feared the multitudes, because they toke him as a prophet.

21:1And when they drewe neere to Hierusalem, and were come to Bethphage, vnto the mount of the Oliues, then sent Iesus two disciples,
21:2Saying to them, Goe into the towne that is ouer against you, and anon yee shall finde an asse bounde, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them vnto me.
21:3And if any man say ought vnto you, say ye, that the Lord hath neede of them, and straightway he will let them goe.
21:4All this was done that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the Prophet, saying,
21:5Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Beholde, thy King commeth vnto thee, meeke and sitting vpon an asse, and a colte, the foale of an asse vsed to the yoke.
21:6So the disciples went, and did as Iesus had commanded them,
21:7And brought the asse and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and set him thereon.
21:8And a great multitude spred their garments in the way: and other cut downe branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
21:9Moreouer, the people that went before, and they also that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Sonne of Dauid, Blessed be hee that commeth in the Name of the Lord, Hosanna thou which art in the highest heauens.
21:10And when he was come into Hierusalem, all the citie was mooued, saying, Who is this?
21:11And the people said, This is Iesus that Prophet of Nazareth in Galile.
21:12And Iesus went into the Temple of God, and cast out all them that solde and bought in the Temple, and ouerthrew the tables of the money chagers, and the seates of them that sold doues,
21:13And said to them, it is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer: but ye haue made it a denne of theeues.
21:14Then the blinde, and the halt came to him in the Temple, and he healed them.
21:15But when the chiefe priestes and Scribes sawe the marueiles that hee did, and the children crying in the Temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Sonne of Dauid, they disdained,
21:16And said vnto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Iesus said vnto them, Yea: read ye neuer, By the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast made perfite the praise?
21:17So hee left them, and went out of the citie vnto Bethania, and lodged there.
21:18And in the morning, as he returned into the citie, he was hungrie,
21:19And seeing a figge tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaues onely, and said to it, Neuer fruite grow on thee henceforwards. And anon the figge tree withered.
21:20And when his disciples saw it, they marueiled, saying, How soone is the figge tree withered!
21:21And Iesus answered and said vnto them, Verely I say vnto you, if ye haue faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only doe that, which I haue done to the figge tree, but also if ye say vnto this mountaine, Take thy selfe away, and cast thy selfe into the sea, it shalbe done.
21:22And whatsoeuer ye shall aske in prayer, if ye beleeue, ye shall receiue it.
21:23And whe he was come into the Temple, the chiefe Priestes, and the Elders of the people came vnto him, as he was teaching, and saide, By what authoritie doest thou these things? and who gaue thee this authoritie?
21:24Then Iesus answered and said vnto them, I also will aske of you a certaine thing, which if ye tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authoritie I doe these things.
21:25The baptisme of Iohn, whence was it? from heauen, or of men? Then they reasoned among themselues, saying, If we shall say, From heauen, he will say vnto vs, Why did ye not then beleeue him?
21:26And if we say, Of men, we feare the multitude, for all holde Iohn as a Prophet.
21:27Then they answered Iesus, and said, We can not tell. And he said vnto them, Neither tell I you by what authoritie I doe these things.
21:28But what thinke ye? A certaine man had two sonnes, and came to the elder, and saide, Sonne, goe and worke to day in my vineyarde.
21:29But he answered, and said, I will not: yet afterward he repented himselfe, and went.
21:30Then came he to the second, and said likewise. And he answered, and said, I will, Syr: yet he went not.
21:31Whether of them twaine did the will of the father? They saide vnto him, The first. Iesus saide vnto them, Verely I say vnto you, that the Publicanes and the harlots goe before you into the kingdome of God.
21:32For Iohn came vnto you in the way of righteousnes, and yee beleeued him not: but the Publicanes, and the harlots beleeued him, and ye, though ye sawe it, were not mooued with repentance afterward, that ye might beleeue him.
21:33Heare another parable, There was a certaine housholder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and made a winepresse therein, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a strange countrey.
21:34And when the time of the fruite drewe neere, hee sent his seruants to the husbandmen to receiue the fruites thereof.
21:35And ye husbandmen tooke his seruants and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
21:36Againe hee sent other seruants, moe then the first: and they did the like vnto them.
21:37But last of all he sent vnto them his owne sonne, saying, They will reuerence my sonne.
21:38But when the husbandmen saw the sonne, they saide among themselues, This is the heire: come, let vs kill him, and let vs take his inheritance.
21:39So they tooke him, and cast him out of the vineyarde, and slewe him.
21:40When therefore the Lord of the vineyarde shall come, what will hee doe to those husbandmen?
21:41They saide vnto him, Hee will cruelly destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard vnto other husbandmen, which shall deliuer him the fruites in their seasons.
21:42Iesus saide vnto them, Read ye neuer in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders refused, the same is made the head of the corner? This was the Lordes doing, and it is marueilous in our eyes.
21:43Therefore say I vnto you, The kingdome of God shalbe taken from you, and shalbe giuen to a nation, which shall bring foorth the fruites thereof.
21:44And whosoeuer shall fall on this stone, he shalbe broken: but on whomsoeuer it shall fall, it will dash him a pieces.
21:45And when the chiefe Priestes and Pharises had heard his parables, they perceiued that hee spake of them.
21:46And they seeking to laye handes on him, feared the people, because they tooke him as a Prophet.
