| 22:2 | The kyngdome of heauen is like vnto a certayne kynge, whiche maryed hys sonne, |
| 22:3 | and sent forth hys seruauntes to call them that were byd to the wedding, & they woulde not come. |
| 22:4 | Agayne he sent forth other seruauntes saynge. Tell them which are bydden: beholde I haue prepared my dyner, myne oxen and my fatlynges are kylled, and all thinges are redy, come vnto the mariage. |
| 22:5 | But they made lyght of it, and went theyr wayes: one to hys ferme place, an other about hys marchaundyse, |
| 22:6 | the remnaunt toke hys seruauntes and intreated them vngodly and slewe them. |
| 22:7 | When the kynge hearde that, he was wrothe and sente forthe hys warryers and destroyed those murtherers and brent vp theyr citie. |
| 22:8 | Then sayde he to hys seruauntes: the wedding was prepared. But they which were bidden: were not worthye. |
| 22:9 | Go ye therfore out into the hye waies, & as many as ye finde byd them to the mariage. |
| 22:10 | The seruauntes went out into the hye wayes, and gaddered together as many as they could fynde. Both good & bad, and the weddynge was furnyshed with gestes. |
| 22:11 | Then the kynge came in, to viset the gestes, and spyed there a man which had not on a weddynge garment, |
| 22:12 | and sayd vnto hym, frend howe fortuned it that thou camest in hyther, and hast not on a weddinge garmente? And he was euen speachlesse. |
| 22:13 | Then sayed the kynge to hys mynisters: take and bynde hym hande and fote, and caste hym into vtter darcknes, there shal be weping and gnashing of teeth. |
| 22:14 | For manye are called and fewe be chosen. |
| 22:15 | Then went the pharises and toke counsell how they myght tangle hym in hys wordes. |
| 22:16 | And they sent vnto hym theyr discyples with Herodes seruauntes sayinge: Mayster, we knowe that thou art true, & teachest the waye of God truely: neither carest for any man, for thou considerest not mennes estate. |
| 22:17 | Tel vs therfor how thinkest thou. Is it lawful to giue tribute vnto Cesar or not? |
| 22:18 | Iesus perceyued theyr wickednes, & sayd: Why tempt ye me ye hypocrites? |
| 22:19 | Let me se the tribute money. And they toke him a peny. |
| 22:20 | And he sayd vnto them: whose is thys ymage & superscripcion? |
| 22:21 | They sayed vnto him: Cesars. Then sayed he vnto them: Gyue therfore to Cesar, that which is Cesars: And gyue vnto God, that which is Goddes. |
| 22:22 | When they hearde that they maruayled, and left hym, and went theyr waye. |
| 22:23 | The same day the Saduces came to hym (which say that there is no resurreccion) axed him |
| 22:24 | saying: Mayster, Moyses bad, yf a man dye hauyng no chyldren, that the brother marye hys wyfe, and reyse vp seed vnto hys brother. |
| 22:25 | There were with vs seuen brethren, and the fyrst maryed and dyseased without yssue and left hys wyfe vnto his brother. |
| 22:26 | Like wyse the second and the thyrde vnto the seuenth. |
| 22:27 | Last of all the woman dyed also. |
| 22:28 | Nowe in the resurreccyon whose wyfe shall she be of these seuen? For all had her. |
| 22:29 | Iesus answered & sayd vnto them: ye are deceyued and vnderstande not the scriptures, nor yet the power of God. |
| 22:30 | For in the resurrection they nether marye nor are maryed: but are as the angels in heauen. |
| 22:31 | As touchyng the resurreccion of the dead: haue ye not reade what is sayd vnto you of God which sayth: |
| 22:32 | I am Abrahams God, and Isaacks God. & the God of Iacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the liuynge. |
| 22:33 | And when the people hearde that, they were astonyed at hys doctrine. |
| 22:34 | When the Pharises had hearde, how that he had put the Saduces to silence, they drewe together, |
| 22:35 | and one of them whiche was a doctoure of lawe, axed a question temptyng hym and sayinge: |
| 22:36 | Mayster which is the chief commaundement in the lawe? |
| 22:37 | Iesus sayd to him: Loue the Lord thy God with all thyne herte, and with all thy soule, and with al thy mynd. |
| 22:38 | This is the fyrst and the chiefe commaundement. |
| 22:39 | And there is another lyke vnto thys. Loue thy neyghboure as thy selfe. |
| 22:40 | In these two commaundementes hange all the lawe & the Prophetes. |
| 22:41 | Whyle the pharyses were gaddered together. Iesus axed them |
| 22:42 | saying: what thynke ye of Christ? Whose sonne is he? They sayed vnto him: the sonne of Dauid. |
| 22:43 | He sayed vnto them: how then doeth Dauid in sprite, call him Lorde, sayenge: |
| 22:44 | The Lorde sayed to my Lord sit on my righthande: tyl I make thyne enemyes thy fotestole. |
| 22:45 | If Dauid call hym Lorde, how is he than hys sonne? |
| 22:46 | And none coulde aunswere hym agayne one worde, neyther durste any from that daye forth axe him any more question. |
| 22:1 | Then Iesus answered, and spake vnto them againe in parables, saying, |
| 22:2 | The kingdome of heauen is like vnto a certaine King which maried his sonne, |
| 22:3 | And sent foorth his seruants, to call them that were bidde to the wedding, but they woulde not come. |
| 22:4 | Againe hee sent foorth other seruants, saying. Tell them which are bidden, Beholde, I haue prepared my dinner: mine oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all thinges are readie: come vnto the mariage. |
| 22:5 | But they made light of it, and went their wayes, one to his farme, and another about his marchandise. |
| 22:6 | And the remnant tooke his seruants, and intreated them sharpely, and slewe them. |
| 22:7 | But when the King heard it, he was wroth, and sent foorth his warriers, and destroyed those murtherers, and burnt vp their citie. |
| 22:8 | Then saide hee to his seruants, Truely the wedding is prepared: but they which were bidden, were not worthy. |
| 22:9 | Go ye therefore out into the high wayes, and as many as ye finde, bid them to the mariage. |
| 22:10 | So those seruantes went out into the hie wayes, and gathered together all that euer they found, both good and bad: so the wedding was furnished with ghestes. |
| 22:11 | Then the King came in, to see the ghestes, and sawe there a man which had not on a wedding garment. |
| 22:12 | And he sayd vnto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither, and hast not on a wedding garment? And he was speachlesse. |
| 22:13 | Then sayd the King to the seruants, Binde him hand and foote: take him away, and cast him into vtter darkenes: there shalbe weeping and gnashing of teeth. |
| 22:14 | For many are called, but fewe chosen. |
| 22:15 | Then went the Pharises and tooke counsell how they might tangle him in talke. |
| 22:16 | And they sent vnto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we knowe that thou art true, and teachest the way of God truely, neither carest for any man: for thou considerest not the person of men. |
| 22:17 | Tell vs therefore, how thinkest thou? Is it lawfull to giue tribute vnto Cesar, or not? |
| 22:18 | But Iesus perceiued their wickednes, and sayd, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? |
| 22:19 | Shewe me the tribute money. And they brought him a peny. |
| 22:20 | And he sayde vnto them, Whose is this image and superscription? |
| 22:21 | They sayd vnto him, Cesars. Then sayd he vnto them, Giue therefore to Cesar, the things which are Cesars, and giue vnto God, those things which are Gods. |
| 22:22 | And when they heard it, they marueiled, and left him, and went their way. |
| 22:23 | The same day the Sadduces came to him (which say that there is no resurrection) and asked him, |
| 22:24 | Saying, Master, Moses sayd, If a man die, hauing no children, his brother shall marie his wife by the right of alliance, and raise vp seede vnto his brother. |
| 22:25 | Nowe there were with vs seuen brethren, and the first maried a wife, and deceased: and hauing none yssue, left his wife vnto his brother. |
| 22:26 | Likewise also the second, and the third, vnto the seuenth. |
| 22:27 | And last of all the woman died also. |
| 22:28 | Therefore in the resurrection, whose wife shall she be of the seuen? for all had her. |
| 22:29 | Then Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them, Ye are deceiued, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. |
| 22:30 | For in the resurrection they neither marie wiues, nor wiues are bestowed in mariage, but are as the Angels of God in heauen. |
| 22:31 | And concerning the resurrection of the dead, haue ye not read what is spoken vuto you of God, saying, |
| 22:32 | I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the liuing. |
| 22:33 | And when the multitude heard it, they were astonied at his doctrine. |
| 22:34 | But when the Pharises had heard, that he had put the Sadduces to silence, they assembled together. |
| 22:35 | And one of them, which was an expounder of the Lawe, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, |
| 22:36 | Master, which is ye great commandement in the Lawe? |
| 22:37 | Iesus sayd to him, Thou shalt loue the Lord thy God with all thine heart, with all thy soule, and with all thy minde. |
| 22:38 | This is the first and the great commandement. |
| 22:39 | And the second is like vnto this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe. |
| 22:40 | On these two commandements hangeth the whole Lawe, and the Prophets. |
| 22:41 | While the Pharises were gathered together, Iesus asked them, |
| 22:42 | Saying, What thinke ye of Christ? whose sonne is he? They sayd vnto him, Dauids. |
| 22:43 | He sayd vnto them, How then doeth Dauid in spirit call him Lord, saying, |
| 22:44 | The Lord sayd to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footestoole? |
| 22:45 | If then Dauid call him Lord, howe is he his sonne? |
| 22:46 | And none could answere him a worde, neither durst any from that day foorth aske him any moe questions. |
| 22:1 | And Iesus answered, and spake vnto them againe by parables, and said, |
| 22:2 | The Kingdome of heauen is like vnto a certaine King, which made a marriage for his sonne, |
| 22:3 | And sent forth his seruants to call them that were bidden to the wedding, and they would not come. |
| 22:4 | Againe, hee sent foorth other seruants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Beholde, I haue prepared my dinner; my oxen, and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come vnto the marriage. |
| 22:5 | But they made light of it, and went their wayes, one to his farme, another to his merchandize: |
| 22:6 | And the remnant tooke his seruants, and intreated them spitefully, and slew them. |
| 22:7 | But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth, and hee sent foorth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt vp their citie. |
| 22:8 | Then saith hee to his seruants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden, were not worthy. |
| 22:9 | Goe yee therefore into the high wayes, and as many as yee shall finde, bid to the marriage. |
| 22:10 | So those seruants went out into the high wayes, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good, and the wedding was furnished with ghests. |
| 22:11 | And when the King came in to see the guests, hee sawe there a man, which had not on a wedding garment, |
| 22:12 | And hee sayth vnto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither, not hauing a wedding garment? And hee was speechlesse. |
| 22:13 | Then said the king to the seruants, Binde him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkenesse, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. |
| 22:14 | For many are called, but few are chosen. |
| 22:15 | Then went the Pharises, and tooke counsell, how they might intangle him in his talke. |
| 22:16 | And they sent out vnto him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master, wee know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in trueth, neither carest thou for any man; for thou regardest not the person of men. |
| 22:17 | Tell vs therefore, what thinkest thou? Is it lawfull to giue tribute vnto Cesar, or not? |
| 22:18 | But Iesus perceiued their wickednesse, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? |
| 22:19 | Shew me the tribute money. And they brought vnto him a peny. |
| 22:20 | And he sayth vnto them, Whose is this image and superscription? |
| 22:21 | They say vnto him, Cesars. Then sayth he vnto them, Render therefore vnto Cesar, the things which are Cesars: and vnto God, the things that are Gods. |
| 22:22 | When they had heard these wordes, they marueiled, and left him, and went their way. |
| 22:23 | The same day came to him the Sadduces, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him, |
| 22:24 | Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, hauing no children, his brother shall marrie his wife, and raise vp seed vnto his brother. |
| 22:25 | Now there were with vs seuen brethren, and the first when he had maried a wife, deceased, and hauing no issue, left his wife vnto his brother. |
| 22:26 | Likewise the second also, and the third, vnto the seuenth. |
| 22:27 | And last of al the woman died also. |
| 22:28 | Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife shall she be of the seuen? for they all had her. |
| 22:29 | Iesus answered, and said vnto them, Yee doe erre, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. |
| 22:30 | For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are giuen in marriage, but are as the Angels of God in heauen. |
| 22:31 | But as touching the resurrection of the dead, haue ye not read that which was spoken vnto you by God, saying, |
| 22:32 | I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the liuing. |
| 22:33 | And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine. |
| 22:34 | But when the Pharises had heard that he had put the Sadduces to silence, they were gathered together. |
| 22:35 | Then one of them, which was a Lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, |
| 22:36 | Master, which is the great Commandement in the Law? |
| 22:37 | Iesus sayd vnto him, Thou shalt loue the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy minde. |
| 22:38 | This is the first and great Commandement. |
| 22:39 | And the second is like vnto it, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe. |
| 22:40 | On these two Commandements hang all the Law and the Prophets. |
| 22:41 | While the Pharises were gathered together, Iesus asked them, |
| 22:42 | Saying, What thinke yee of Christ? whose sonne is hee? They say vnto him, The sonne of Dauid. |
| 22:43 | He saith vnto them, How then doth Dauid in spirit call him Lord, saying, |
| 22:44 | The Lord said vnto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstoole? |
| 22:45 | If Dauid then call him Lord, how is he his sonne? |
| 22:46 | And no man was able to answere him a word, neither durst any man (from that day foorth) aske him any moe questions. |
