Matthew - Chapter: 27


27:1	When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
27:2	And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
27:3	Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
27:4	Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
27:5	And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
27:6	And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
27:7	And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
27:8	Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
27:9	Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
27:10	And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.
27:11	And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
27:12	And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
27:13	Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
27:14	And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.
27:15	Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.
27:16	And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
27:17	Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
27:18	For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
27:19	When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
27:20	But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
27:21	The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.
27:22	Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
27:23	And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
27:24	When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
27:25	Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
27:26	Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
27:27	Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
27:28	And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
27:29	And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
27:30	And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
27:31	And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
27:32	And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.
27:33	And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,
27:34	They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
27:35	And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
27:36	And sitting down they watched him there;
27:37	And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
27:38	Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
27:39	And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
27:40	And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
27:41	Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
27:42	He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
27:43	He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
27:44	The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
27:45	Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
27:46	And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
27:47	Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.
27:48	And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
27:49	The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
27:50	Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
27:51	And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
27:52	And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
27:53	And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
27:54	Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
27:55	And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:
27:56	Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.
27:57	When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
27:58	He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
27:59	And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
27:60	And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
27:61	And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
27:62	Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
27:63	Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
27:64	Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
27:65	Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
27:66	So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.


27:1	πρωιας δε γενομενης συμβουλιον ελαβον παντες οι αρχιερεις και οι πρεσβυτεροι του λαου κατα του ιησου ωστε θανατωσαι αυτον
27:2	και δησαντες αυτον απηγαγον και παρεδωκαν αυτον ποντιω πιλατω τω ηγεμονι
27:3	τοτε ιδων ιουδας ο παραδιδους αυτον οτι κατεκριθη μεταμεληθεις απεστρεψεν τα τριακοντα αργυρια τοις αρχιερευσιν και τοις πρεσβυτεροις
27:4	λεγων ημαρτον παραδους αιμα αθωον οι δε ειπον τι προς ημας συ οψει
27:5	και ριψας τα αργυρια εν τω ναω ανεχωρησεν και απελθων απηγξατο
27:6	οι δε αρχιερεις λαβοντες τα αργυρια ειπον ουκ εξεστιν βαλειν αυτα εις τον κορβαναν επει τιμη αιματος εστιν
27:7	συμβουλιον δε λαβοντες ηγορασαν εξ αυτων τον αγρον του κεραμεως εις ταφην τοις ξενοις
27:8	διο εκληθη ο αγρος εκεινος αγρος αιματος εως της σημερον
27:9	τοτε επληρωθη το ρηθεν δια ιερεμιου του προφητου λεγοντος και ελαβον τα τριακοντα αργυρια την τιμην του τετιμημενου ον ετιμησαντο απο υιων ισραηλ
27:10	και εδωκαν αυτα εις τον αγρον του κεραμεως καθα συνεταξεν μοι κυριος
27:11	ο δε ιησους εστη εμπροσθεν του ηγεμονος και επηρωτησεν αυτον ο ηγεμων λεγων συ ει ο βασιλευς των ιουδαιων ο δε ιησους εφη αυτω συ λεγεις
27:12	και εν τω κατηγορεισθαι αυτον υπο των αρχιερεων και των πρεσβυτερων ουδεν απεκρινατο
27:13	τοτε λεγει αυτω ο πιλατος ουκ ακουεις ποσα σου καταμαρτυρουσιν
27:14	και ουκ απεκριθη αυτω προς ουδε εν ρημα ωστε θαυμαζειν τον ηγεμονα λιαν
27:15	κατα δε εορτην ειωθει ο ηγεμων απολυειν ενα τω οχλω δεσμιον ον ηθελον
27:16	ειχον δε τοτε δεσμιον επισημον λεγομενον βαραββαν
27:17	συνηγμενων ουν αυτων ειπεν αυτοις ο πιλατος τινα θελετε απολυσω υμιν βαραββαν η ιησουν τον λεγομενον χριστον
27:18	ηδει γαρ οτι δια φθονον παρεδωκαν αυτον
27:19	καθημενου δε αυτου επι του βηματος απεστειλεν προς αυτον η γυνη αυτου λεγουσα μηδεν σοι και τω δικαιω εκεινω πολλα γαρ επαθον σημερον κατ οναρ δι αυτον
27:20	οι δε αρχιερεις και οι πρεσβυτεροι επεισαν τους οχλους ινα αιτησωνται τον βαραββαν τον δε ιησουν απολεσωσιν
27:21	αποκριθεις δε ο ηγεμων ειπεν αυτοις τινα θελετε απο των δυο απολυσω υμιν οι δε ειπον βαραββαν
27:22	λεγει αυτοις ο πιλατος τι ουν ποιησω ιησουν τον λεγομενον χριστον λεγουσιν αυτω παντες σταυρωθητω
27:23	ο δε ηγεμων εφη τι γαρ κακον εποιησεν οι δε περισσως εκραζον λεγοντες σταυρωθητω
27:24	ιδων δε ο πιλατος οτι ουδεν ωφελει αλλα μαλλον θορυβος γινεται λαβων υδωρ απενιψατο τας χειρας απεναντι του οχλου λεγων αθωος ειμι απο του αιματος του δικαιου τουτου υμεις οψεσθε
27:25	και αποκριθεις πας ο λαος ειπεν το αιμα αυτου εφ ημας και επι τα τεκνα ημων
27:26	τοτε απελυσεν αυτοις τον βαραββαν τον δε ιησουν φραγελλωσας παρεδωκεν ινα σταυρωθη
27:27	τοτε οι στρατιωται του ηγεμονος παραλαβοντες τον ιησουν εις το πραιτωριον συνηγαγον επ αυτον ολην την σπειραν
27:28	και εκδυσαντες αυτον περιεθηκαν αυτω χλαμυδα κοκκινην
27:29	και πλεξαντες στεφανον εξ ακανθων επεθηκαν επι την κεφαλην αυτου και καλαμον επι την δεξιαν αυτου και γονυπετησαντες εμπροσθεν αυτου ενεπαιζον αυτω λεγοντες χαιρε ο βασιλευς των ιουδαιων
27:30	και εμπτυσαντες εις αυτον ελαβον τον καλαμον και ετυπτον εις την κεφαλην αυτου
27:31	και οτε ενεπαιξαν αυτω εξεδυσαν αυτον την χλαμυδα και ενεδυσαν αυτον τα ιματια αυτου και απηγαγον αυτον εις το σταυρωσαι
27:32	εξερχομενοι δε ευρον ανθρωπον κυρηναιον ονοματι σιμωνα τουτον ηγγαρευσαν ινα αρη τον σταυρον αυτου
27:33	και ελθοντες εις τοπον λεγομενον γολγοθα ος εστιν λεγομενος κρανιου τοπος
27:34	εδωκαν αυτω πιειν οξος μετα χολης μεμιγμενον και γευσαμενος ουκ ηθελεν πιειν
27:35	σταυρωσαντες δε αυτον διεμερισαντο τα ιματια αυτου βαλλοντες κληρον ινα πληρωθη το ρηθεν υπο του προφητου διεμερισαντο τα ιματια μου εαυτοις και επι τον ιματισμον μου εβαλον κληρον
27:36	και καθημενοι ετηρουν αυτον εκει
27:37	και επεθηκαν επανω της κεφαλης αυτου την αιτιαν αυτου γεγραμμενην ουτος εστιν ιησους ο βασιλευς των ιουδαιων
27:38	τοτε σταυρουνται συν αυτω δυο λησται εις εκ δεξιων και εις εξ ευωνυμων
27:39	οι δε παραπορευομενοι εβλασφημουν αυτον κινουντες τας κεφαλας αυτων
27:40	και λεγοντες ο καταλυων τον ναον και εν τρισιν ημεραις οικοδομων σωσον σεαυτον ει υιος ει του θεου καταβηθι απο του σταυρου
27:41	ομοιως δε και οι αρχιερεις εμπαιζοντες μετα των γραμματεων και πρεσβυτερων ελεγον
27:42	αλλους εσωσεν εαυτον ου δυναται σωσαι ει βασιλευς ισραηλ εστιν καταβατω νυν απο του σταυρου και πιστευσομεν αυτω
27:43	πεποιθεν επι τον θεον ρυσασθω νυν αυτον ει θελει αυτον ειπεν γαρ οτι θεου ειμι υιος
27:44	το δ αυτο και οι λησται οι συσταυρωθεντες αυτω ωνειδιζον αυτω
27:45	απο δε εκτης ωρας σκοτος εγενετο επι πασαν την γην εως ωρας εννατης
27:46	περι δε την εννατην ωραν ανεβοησεν ο ιησους φωνη μεγαλη λεγων ηλι ηλι λαμα σαβαχθανι τουτ εστιν θεε μου θεε μου ινα τι με εγκατελιπες
27:47	τινες δε των εκει εστωτων ακουσαντες ελεγον οτι ηλιαν φωνει ουτος
27:48	και ευθεως δραμων εις εξ αυτων και λαβων σπογγον πλησας τε οξους και περιθεις καλαμω εποτιζεν αυτον
27:49	οι δε λοιποι ελεγον αφες ιδωμεν ει ερχεται ηλιας σωσων αυτον
27:50	ο δε ιησους παλιν κραξας φωνη μεγαλη αφηκεν το πνευμα
27:51	και ιδου το καταπετασμα του ναου εσχισθη εις δυο απο ανωθεν εως κατω και η γη εσεισθη και αι πετραι εσχισθησαν
27:52	και τα μνημεια ανεωχθησαν και πολλα σωματα των κεκοιμημενων αγιων ηγερθη
27:53	και εξελθοντες εκ των μνημειων μετα την εγερσιν αυτου εισηλθον εις την αγιαν πολιν και ενεφανισθησαν πολλοις
27:54	ο δε εκατονταρχος και οι μετ αυτου τηρουντες τον ιησουν ιδοντες τον σεισμον και τα γενομενα εφοβηθησαν σφοδρα λεγοντες αληθως θεου υιος ην ουτος
27:55	ησαν δε εκει γυναικες πολλαι απο μακροθεν θεωρουσαι αιτινες ηκολουθησαν τω ιησου απο της γαλιλαιας διακονουσαι αυτω
27:56	εν αις ην μαρια η μαγδαληνη και μαρια η του ιακωβου και ιωση μητηρ και η μητηρ των υιων ζεβεδαιου
27:57	οψιας δε γενομενης ηλθεν ανθρωπος πλουσιος απο αριμαθαιας τουνομα ιωσηφ ος και αυτος εμαθητευσεν τω ιησου
27:58	ουτος προσελθων τω πιλατω ητησατο το σωμα του ιησου τοτε ο πιλατος εκελευσεν αποδοθηναι το σωμα
27:59	και λαβων το σωμα ο ιωσηφ ενετυλιξεν αυτο σινδονι καθαρα
27:60	και εθηκεν αυτο εν τω καινω αυτου μνημειω ο ελατομησεν εν τη πετρα και προσκυλισας λιθον μεγαν τη θυρα του μνημειου απηλθεν
27:61	ην δε εκει μαρια η μαγδαληνη και η αλλη μαρια καθημεναι απεναντι του ταφου
27:62	τη δε επαυριον ητις εστιν μετα την παρασκευην συνηχθησαν οι αρχιερεις και οι φαρισαιοι προς πιλατον
27:63	λεγοντες κυριε εμνησθημεν οτι εκεινος ο πλανος ειπεν ετι ζων μετα τρεις ημερας εγειρομαι
27:64	κελευσον ουν ασφαλισθηναι τον ταφον εως της τριτης ημερας μηποτε ελθοντες οι μαθηται αυτου νυκτος κλεψωσιν αυτον και ειπωσιν τω λαω ηγερθη απο των νεκρων και εσται η εσχατη πλανη χειρων της πρωτης
27:65	εφη δε αυτοις ο πιλατος εχετε κουστωδιαν υπαγετε ασφαλισασθε ως οιδατε
27:66	οι δε πορευθεντες ησφαλισαντο τον ταφον σφραγισαντες τον λιθον μετα της κουστωδιας


27:1	When the mornynge was come all ye chefe prestes and the elders of ye people helde a counsayle agenst Iesu to put him to deeth
27:2	and brought him bounde and delivered him vnto Poncius Pilate the debite.
27:3	Then when Iudas which betrayed him sawe that he was condempned he repented him sylfe and brought ageyne the .xxx. plattes of sylver to ye chefe prestes and elders
27:4	sayinge: I have synned betrayinge the innocent bloud. And they sayde: what is that to vs? Se thou to that.
27:5	And he cast doune the sylver plattes in the temple and departed and went and hounge him sylfe.
27:6	And the chefe prestes toke the sylver plattes and sayd: it is not lawfull for to put them in to the treasury because it is the pryce of bloud.
27:7	And they toke counsell and bought with them a potters felde to bury strangers in.
27:8	Wherfore that felde is called the felde of bloud vntyll this daye.
27:9	Then was fulfylled that which was spoken by Ieremy the Prophet sayinge: and they toke .xxx. sylver plattes the prise of him that was valued whom they bought of the chyldren of Israel
27:10	and they gave them for the potters felde as the Lorde appoynted me.
27:11	Iesus stode before the debite: and the debite axed him sayinge: Arte thou the kynge of ye Iues? Iesus sayd vnto him: Thou sayest
27:12	and when he was accused of ye chefe prestes and elders he answered nothinge.
27:13	Then sayd Pilate vnto him: hearest thou not how many thinges they laye ageynste ye?
27:14	And he answered him to never a worde: in so moche that the debite marveylled greatlie.
27:15	At that feest the debite was wonte to deliver vnto ye people a presoner whom they wolde desyer.
27:16	He had then a notable presoner called Barrabas.
27:17	And when they were gadered together Pilate sayde vnto the: whether wyll ye that I geve losse vnto you Barrabas or Iesus which is called Christ?
27:18	For he knewe well that for envie they had delivred him.
27:19	When he was set doune to geve iudgemet his wyfe sent to him sayinge: have thou nothinge to do with that iuste man. For I have suffered many thinges this daye in a dreame about him.
27:20	But the chefe preestes and the elders had parswaded the people that they shulde axe Barrabas and shulde destroye Iesus.
27:21	Then the debite answered and sayde vnto them: whether of the twayne wyll ye that I let loosse vnto you? And they sayde Barrabas.
27:22	Pilate sayde vnto them: what shall I do then with Iesus which is called Christ? They all sayde to him: let him be crucified.
27:23	Then sayde the debite: what evyll hath he done? And they cryed the more sayinge: let him be crucified.
27:24	When Pilate sawe that he prevayled nothinge but that moare busines was made he toke water and wasshed his hondes before ye people sayinge: I am innocent of the bloud of this iuste person and that ye shall se.
27:25	Then answered all the people and sayde: his bloud be on vs and on oure chyldren.
27:26	Then let he Barrabas loose vnto them and scourged Iesus and delivered him to be crucified.
27:27	Then the soudeours of the debite toke Iesus vnto the comen hall and gaddered vnto him all the company.
27:28	And they stripped him and put on him a purpyll roobe
27:29	and platted a croune of thornes and put vpon his heed and a rede in his ryght honde: and bowed their knees before him and mocked him saying: hayle kinge of the Iewes:
27:30	and spitted vpon him and toke the rede and smoote him on the heed.
27:31	And when they had mocked him they toke the robe of him ageyne and put his awne reymet on him and leed him awaye to crucify him.
27:32	And as they came out they fonnde a man of Cyren named Simon: him they compelled to beare his crosse.
27:33	And whe they cam vnto ye place called Golgotha (that is to saye a place of deed mens sculles)
27:34	they gave him veneger to drinke mengled with gall. And when he had tasted therof he wolde not drinke.
27:35	When they had crucified him they parted his garmentes and did cast lottes: to fulfyll that was spoken by the prophet. They deuyded my garmetes amonge them: and apon my vesture did cast loottes.
27:36	And they sate and watched him there.
27:37	And they set vp over his heed the cause of his deeth written. This is Iesus the kynge of the Iewes.
27:38	And ther were two theves crucified with him one on ye right honde and another on the lyfte.
27:39	They that passed by revyled him waggynge ther heeddes
27:40	and sayinge: Thou that destroyest the temple of God and byldest it in thre dayes save thy sylfe. If thou be ye sonne of God come doune from the crosse.
27:41	Lykwyse also the hye prestes mockinge him with the scribes aud elders sayde:
27:42	He saved other him sylfe he can not save. If he be ye kynge of Israel: let him now come doune from the crosse and we will beleve him.
27:43	He trusted in God let him deliver him now yf he will have him: for he sayde I am the sonne of God.
27:44	That same also the theves which were crucified with him cast in his tethe.
27:45	From the sixte houre was there dercknes over all the londe vnto the nynth houre.
27:46	And about ye nynth houre Iesus cryed with a loude voyce sayinge: Eli Eli lama asbathani. That is to saye my God my God why hast thou forsaken me?
27:47	Some of them that stode there when they herde that sayde: This man calleth for Helyas.
27:48	And streyght waye one of them ranne and toke a sponge and filled it full of veneger and put it on a rede and gave him to drinke.
27:49	Other sayde let be: let vs se whyther Helyas will come and deliver him.
27:50	Iesus cryed agayne with a lowde voyce and yelded vp the goost.
27:51	And beholde the vayle of the temple dyd rent in twayne from ye toppe to the bottome and the erth dyd quake and the stones dyd rent
27:52	and graves dyd open: and the bodies of many sainctes which slept arose
27:53	and came out of ye graves after his resurreccion and came into the holy cite and appered vnto many.
27:54	When the Centurion and they that were with him watchinge Iesus sawe ye erth quake and those thinges which hapened they feared greatly sayinge. Of a surete this was the sonne of God.
27:55	And many wemen were there beholdinge him a farre of which folowed Iesus fro Galile ministringe vnto him.
27:56	Amonge which was Mary Magdalen and Mary the mother of Iames and Ioses and ye mother of zebedes chyldren.
27:57	When the even was come there came a ryche man of Aramathia named Ioseph which same also was Iesus disciple.
27:58	He went to Pilate and begged the body of Iesus. Then Pilate commaunded the body to be delivered.
27:59	And Ioseph toke the body and wrapped it in a clene lynnyn clooth
27:60	and put it in his newe tombe which he had hewen out even in the roke and rolled a greate stone to the dore of ye sepulcre and departed.
27:61	And there was Mary Magdalene and the other Mary sittynge over ageynste the sepulcre.
27:62	The nexte daye that foloweth good frydaye the hye prestes and pharises got them selves to Pilate
27:63	and sayde: Syr we remember yt this deceaver sayde whyll he was yet alyve After thre dayes I will aryse agayne.
27:64	Commaunde therfore that the sepulcre be made sure vntyll ye thyrd daye lest paraventure his disciples come and steale him awaye and saye vnto the people he is rysen from deeth and the laste erroure be worsse then the fyrst.
27:65	Pilate sayde vnto them. Take watche men: Go and make it as sure as ye can.
27:66	And they went and made the sepulcre sure with watche men and sealed the stone.
