| 7:1 | Then came together vnto him the Pharises, and certain of the Scribes, which came from Hierusalem. |
| 7:2 | And when they saw some of his disciples eate bread with defiled (that is to say, with vnwashen) hands, they found fault. |
| 7:3 | For the Pharises and all the Iewes, except they wash their hands oft, eate not, holding the tradition of the elders. |
| 7:4 | And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eate not. And many other things there be, which they haue receiued to hold, as the washing of cups and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables. |
| 7:5 | Then the Pharises and Scribes asked him, Why walke not thy disciples according to the tradition of the Elders, but eate bread with vnwashen hands? |
| 7:6 | He answered and said vnto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you Hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth mee with their lips, but their heart is farre from me. |
| 7:7 | Howbeit in vaine doe they worship me, teaching for doctrines, the commandements of men. |
| 7:8 | For laying aside the Commandement of God, yee hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots, and cups: and many other such like things ye doe. |
| 7:9 | And he said vnto them, Full well ye reiect the Commandement of God, that ye may keepe your owne tradition. |
| 7:10 | For Moses said, Honour thy father & thy mother: and who so curseth father or mother, let him die the death. |
| 7:11 | But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoeuer thou mightest be profited by me: he shalbe free. |
| 7:12 | And ye suffer him no more to doe ought for his father, or his mother: |
| 7:13 | Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye haue deliuered: And many such like things doe ye. |
| 7:14 | And when he had called all the people vnto him, hee said vnto them, Hearken vnto me euery one of you, and vnderstand. |
| 7:15 | There is nothing from without a man that entring into him, can defile him: but the things which come out of of him, those are they that defile the man. |
| 7:16 | If any man haue eares to heare, let him heare. |
| 7:17 | And when hee was entred into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable. |
| 7:18 | And he saith vnto them, Are ye so without vnderstanding also? Doe yee not perceiue that whatsoeuer thing from without entreth into the man, it cannot defile him, |
| 7:19 | Because it entreth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? |
| 7:20 | And he said, That which commeth out of the man, that defileth the man. |
| 7:21 | For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed euill thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, |
| 7:22 | Thefts, couetousnesse, wickednesse, deceit, lasciuiousnesse, an euill eye, blasphemie, pride, foolishnesse: |
| 7:23 | All these euill things come from within, and defile the man. |
| 7:24 | And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entred into an house, and would haue no man know it, but hee could not be hid. |
| 7:25 | For a certaine woman, whose yong daughter had an vncleane spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feete. |
| 7:26 | (The woman was a Greek: a Syrophenician by nation:) and she besought him that he would cast forth the deuill out of her daughter. |
| 7:27 | But Iesus said vnto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the childrens bread, and to cast it vnto the dogges. |
| 7:28 | And she answered and said vnto him, Yes Lord, yet the dogges vnder the table eat of the childrens crummes. |
| 7:29 | And hee said vnto her, For this saying, goe thy way, the deuill is gone out of thy daughter. |
| 7:30 | And when shee was come to her house, she found the deuill gone out, and her daughter laied vpon the bed. |
| 7:31 | And againe departing from the coastes of Tyre and Sidon, he came vnto the sea of Galilee, thorow the midst of the coasts of Decapolis. |
| 7:32 | And they bring vnto him one that was deafe, and had an impediment in his speech: and they beseech him to put his hand vpon him. |
| 7:33 | And he tooke him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his eares, and he spit, and touched his tongue, |
| 7:34 | And looking vp to heauen, hee sighed, and saith vnto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened. |
| 7:35 | And straightway his eares were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plaine. |
| 7:36 | And hee charged them that they should tell no man: but the more hee charged them, so much the more a great deale they published it, |
| 7:37 | And were beyond measure astonished, saying, Hee hath done all things well: hee maketh both the deafe to heare, and the dumbe to speake. |

| 7:6 | But he answered & sayde vnto them: Full well hath Esay prophecied of you Ypocrytes, as it is wrytte: This people honoureth me wt their lippes, but their hert is farre fro me. |
| 7:7 | But in vayne do they serue me, whyle they teach soch doctrynes as are nothinge but the commaundemetes of me. |
| 7:8 | Ye leaue the comaundement of God and kepe the tradicions of men, as the wasshynge of cruses and cuppes, & many soch thinges do ye. |
| 7:9 | And he saide vnto the: How goodly haue ye cast asyde the comaundement of God, to manteyne youre owne tradicions? |
| 7:10 | For Moses sayde: Honoure father & mother. Whoso curseth father and mother, shal dye the death. |
| 7:11 | But ye saye: A ma shal saye to father or mother: Corban, that is, The thinge yt I shulde helpe the withall, is geue vnto God. |
| 7:12 | And thus ye suffre him nomore to do ought for his father or his mother, |
| 7:13 | & make Gods worde of none effecte, thorow youre owne tradicions that ye haue set vp. And many soch thinges do ye. |
| 7:14 | And he called vnto him all the people, and sayde vnto them: Herken vnto me ye all, and vnderstonde me. |
| 7:15 | There is nothinge without a man, that can defyle him, whan it entreth in to him. But that goeth out of him, that is it that maketh the man vncleane. |

| 7:17 | And whan he came from the people in to ye house, his disciples axed him of this symilitude. |
| 7:18 | And he sayde vnto them: Are ye so then without vnderstondinge? Perceaue ye not yet, yt euery thinge which is without, and goeth in to the ma, can not defyle him? |
| 7:19 | For it entreth not in to his hert, but in to ye bely, and goeth out in to the draught, that purgeth all meates. |
| 7:20 | And he sayde: The thinge that goeth out of the man, |
| 7:21 | that defyleth the man. For from within out of the hert of man proceade euell thoughtes, aduoutrye, whordome, murthur, |
| 7:22 | theft, coueteousnes, wickednes, disceate, vnclennes, a wicked eye, blasphemy, pryde, foolishnes. |
| 7:23 | All these euell thinges go from within, and defyle the man. |
| 7:24 | And he arose, and wente from thence in to the borders of Tyre and Sydon, & entred in to an house, and wolde let no man knowe of it, and yet coude he not be hyd: |
| 7:25 | For a certayne woman (whose doughter had a foule sprete) herde of him, and came and fell downe at his fete |
| 7:26 | (and it was in Heithe woman of Syrophenices) and she besought him, that he wolde dryue out the deuell from hir doughter. |
| 7:27 | But Iesus sayde vnto her: Let the children be fed first: It is not mete to take the childres bred, and to cast it vnto dogges. |
| 7:28 | She answered and sayde vnto him: Yee LORDE, neuertheles the whelpes also eate vnder ye table, of ye childres cromes. |
| 7:29 | And he sayde vnto her: Because of this sayenge go thy waye, the deuell is departed out of thy doughter. |
| 7:30 | And she wente vnto her house, & founde that the deuell was departed, and hir doughter lyenge on the bed. |
| 7:31 | And whan he wente out agayne from the coastes of Tyre and Sydon, he came vnto the see of Galile, thorw the myddes of ye coastes of the te cities. |
| 7:32 | And they brought vnto him one that was deaf, and had impediment in his speach. And they prayed him, that he wolde laye his hande vpon him. |
| 7:33 | And he toke him a syde from the people, and put his fyngers in his eares, and dyd spyt, and touched his tonge, |
| 7:34 | and loked vp vnto heauen, sighed, and sayde vnto him: Ephatha, that is, be opened. |
| 7:35 | And immediatly his eares were opened, and the bonde of his toge was lowsed, and he spake right. |
| 7:36 | And he charged them, that they shulde tell noman.But the more he forbad them, the more they published it, |
| 7:37 | & marueyled out of measure, and sayde: He hath done all thinges well. The deaf hath he made to heare, and the domme to speake. |

| 7:2 | And whanne thei hadden seen summe of hise disciplis ete breed with vnwaisschen hoondis, thei blameden. |
| 7:3 | The Farisees and alle the Jewis eten not, but thei waisschen ofte her hoondis, holdynge the tradiciouns of eldere men. |
| 7:4 | And whanne thei turnen ayen fro chepyng, thei eten not, but thei ben waisschen; and many other thingis ben, `that ben taken `to hem to kepe, wasschyngis of cuppis, and of watir vessels, and of vessels of bras, and of beddis. |
| 7:5 | And Farisees and scribis axiden hym, and seiden, Whi gon not thi disciplis aftir the tradicioun of eldere men, but with vnwasschen hondis thei eten breed? |
| 7:6 | And he answeride, and seide to hem, Ysaie prophesiede wel of you, ypocritis, as it is writun, This puple worschipith me with lippis, but her herte is fer fro me; |
| 7:7 | and in veyn thei worschipen me, techinge the doctrines and the heestis of men. |
| 7:8 | For ye leeuen the maundement of God, and holden the tradiciouns of men, wasschyngis of watir vessels, and of cuppis; and many othir thingis lijk to these ye doon. |
| 7:9 | And he seide to hem, Wel ye han maad the maundement of God voide, `to kepe youre tradicioun. |
| 7:10 | For Moyses seide, Worschipe thi fadir and thi modir; and he that cursith fadir or modir, die he by deeth. |
| 7:11 | But ye seien, If a man seie to fadir or modir, Corban, that is, What euer yifte is of me, it schal profite to thee; |
| 7:12 | and ouer ye suffren not hym do ony thing to fadir or modir, |
| 7:13 | and ye breken the word of God bi youre tradicioun, that ye han youun; and ye don many suche thingis. |
| 7:14 | And he eftsoone clepide the puple, and seide to hem, Ye alle here me, and vndurstonde. |
| 7:15 | No thing that is withouten a man, that entrith in to hym, may defoule him; but tho thingis that comen forth of a man, tho it ben that defoulen a man. |
| 7:16 | If ony man haue eeris of hering, here he. |
| 7:17 | And whanne he was entrid in to an hous, fro the puple, hise disciplis axiden hym the parable. |
| 7:18 | And he seide to hem, Ye ben vnwise also. Vndurstonde ye not, that al thing without forth that entreth in to a man, may not defoule hym? |
| 7:19 | for it hath not entrid in to his herte, but in to the wombe, and bynethe it goith out, purgynge alle metis. |
| 7:20 | But he seide, The thingis that gon out of a man, tho defoulen a man. |
| 7:21 | For fro with ynne, of the herte of men comen forth yuel thouytis, auowtries, |
| 7:22 | fornycaciouns, mansleyingis, theftis, auaricis, wickidnessis, gile, vnchastite, yuel iye, blasfemyes, pride, foli. |
| 7:23 | Alle these yuels comen forth fro with ynne, and defoulen a man. |
| 7:24 | And Jhesus roos vp fro thennus, and wente in to the coostis of Tyre and of Sidon. And he yede in to an hous, and wolde that no man wiste; and he myyte not be hid. |
| 7:25 | For a womman, anoon as sche herd of hym, whos douytir hadde an vnclene spirit, entride, and fel doun at hise feet. |
| 7:26 | And the womman was hethen, of the generacioun of Sirofenyce. And sche preiede hym, that he wolde caste out a deuel fro hir douyter. |
| 7:27 | And he seide to hir, Suffre thou, that the children be fulfillid first; for it is not good to take the breed of children, and yyue to houndis. |
| 7:28 | And sche answeride, and seide to him, Yis, Lord; for litil whelpis eten vndur the bord, of the crummes of children. |
| 7:29 | And Jhesus seide to hir, Go thou, for this word the feend wente out of thi douytir. |
| 7:30 | And whanne sche was gon in to hir hous home, sche foonde the damysel ligynge on the bed, and the deuel gon out fro hir. |
| 7:31 | And eftsoones Jhesus yede out fro the coostis of Tire, and cam thorou Sidon to the see of Galilee, bitwixe the myddil of the coostis of Decapoleos. |
| 7:32 | And thei bryngen to hym a man deef and doumbe, and preieden hym to leye his hoond on hym. |
| 7:33 | And he took hym asidis fro the puple, and puttide hise fyngris in to hise eris; and he spetide, and touchide his tonge. |
| 7:34 | And he bihelde in to heuene, and sorewide with ynne, and seide, Effeta, that is, Be thou openyd. |
| 7:35 | And anoon hise eris weren openyd, and the boond of his tunge was vnboundun, and he spak riytli. |
| 7:36 | And he comaundide to hem, that thei schulden seie to no man; but hou myche he comaundide to hem, so myche more thei prechiden, |
| 7:37 | and bi so myche more thei wondriden, and seiden, He dide wel alle thingis, and he made deef men to here, and doumbe men to speke. |
