Mark - Chapter: 7

>
7:1And the Farisees and summe of the scribis camen fro Jerusalem togidir to hym.
7:2And whanne thei hadden seen summe of hise disciplis ete breed with vnwaisschen hoondis, thei blameden.
7:3The Farisees and alle the Jewis eten not, but thei waisschen ofte her hoondis, holdynge the tradiciouns of eldere men.
7:4And whanne thei turnen ayen fro chepyng, thei eten not, but thei ben waisschen; and many other thingis ben, `that ben taken `to hem to kepe, wasschyngis of cuppis, and of watir vessels, and of vessels of bras, and of beddis.
7:5And Farisees and scribis axiden hym, and seiden, Whi gon not thi disciplis aftir the tradicioun of eldere men, but with vnwasschen hondis thei eten breed?
7:6And he answeride, and seide to hem, Ysaie prophesiede wel of you, ypocritis, as it is writun, This puple worschipith me with lippis, but her herte is fer fro me;
7:7and in veyn thei worschipen me, techinge the doctrines and the heestis of men.
7:8For ye leeuen the maundement of God, and holden the tradiciouns of men, wasschyngis of watir vessels, and of cuppis; and many othir thingis lijk to these ye doon.
7:9And he seide to hem, Wel ye han maad the maundement of God voide, `to kepe youre tradicioun.
7:10For Moyses seide, Worschipe thi fadir and thi modir; and he that cursith fadir or modir, die he by deeth.
7:11But ye seien, If a man seie to fadir or modir, Corban, that is, What euer yifte is of me, it schal profite to thee;
7:12and ouer ye suffren not hym do ony thing to fadir or modir,
7:13and ye breken the word of God bi youre tradicioun, that ye han youun; and ye don many suche thingis.
7:14And he eftsoone clepide the puple, and seide to hem, Ye alle here me, and vndurstonde.
7:15No thing that is withouten a man, that entrith in to hym, may defoule him; but tho thingis that comen forth of a man, tho it ben that defoulen a man.
7:16If ony man haue eeris of hering, here he.
7:17And whanne he was entrid in to an hous, fro the puple, hise disciplis axiden hym the parable.
7:18And he seide to hem, Ye ben vnwise also. Vndurstonde ye not, that al thing without forth that entreth in to a man, may not defoule hym?
7:19for it hath not entrid in to his herte, but in to the wombe, and bynethe it goith out, purgynge alle metis.
7:20But he seide, The thingis that gon out of a man, tho defoulen a man.
7:21For fro with ynne, of the herte of men comen forth yuel thouytis, auowtries,
7:22fornycaciouns, mansleyingis, theftis, auaricis, wickidnessis, gile, vnchastite, yuel iye, blasfemyes, pride, foli.
7:23Alle these yuels comen forth fro with ynne, and defoulen a man.
7:24And Jhesus roos vp fro thennus, and wente in to the coostis of Tyre and of Sidon. And he yede in to an hous, and wolde that no man wiste; and he myyte not be hid.
7:25For a womman, anoon as sche herd of hym, whos douytir hadde an vnclene spirit, entride, and fel doun at hise feet.
7:26And the womman was hethen, of the generacioun of Sirofenyce. And sche preiede hym, that he wolde caste out a deuel fro hir douyter.
7:27And he seide to hir, Suffre thou, that the children be fulfillid first; for it is not good to take the breed of children, and yyue to houndis.
7:28And sche answeride, and seide to him, Yis, Lord; for litil whelpis eten vndur the bord, of the crummes of children.
7:29And Jhesus seide to hir, Go thou, for this word the feend wente out of thi douytir.
7:30And whanne sche was gon in to hir hous home, sche foonde the damysel ligynge on the bed, and the deuel gon out fro hir.
7:31And eftsoones Jhesus yede out fro the coostis of Tire, and cam thorou Sidon to the see of Galilee, bitwixe the myddil of the coostis of Decapoleos.
7:32And thei bryngen to hym a man deef and doumbe, and preieden hym to leye his hoond on hym.
7:33And he took hym asidis fro the puple, and puttide hise fyngris in to hise eris; and he spetide, and touchide his tonge.
7:34And he bihelde in to heuene, and sorewide with ynne, and seide, Effeta, that is, Be thou openyd.
7:35And anoon hise eris weren openyd, and the boond of his tunge was vnboundun, and he spak riytli.
7:36And he comaundide to hem, that thei schulden seie to no man; but hou myche he comaundide to hem, so myche more thei prechiden,
7:37and bi so myche more thei wondriden, and seiden, He dide wel alle thingis, and he made deef men to here, and doumbe men to speke.

7:1Then gathered vnto him the Pharises, and certaine of the Scribes which came from Hierusalem.
7:2And when they sawe some of his disciples eate meate with common hands, (that is to say, vnwashen) they complained.
7:3(For the Pharises, and all the Iewes, except they wash their hands oft, eate not, holding the tradition of the Elders.
7:4And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eate not: and many other things there be, which they haue taken vpon them to obserue, as the washing of cups, and pots, and of brasen vessels, and of beds.)
7:5Then asked him the Pharises and Scribes, Why walke not thy disciples according to the tradition of the Elders, but eate meate with vnwashen hands?
7:6Then hee answered and sayd vnto them, Surely Esay hath prophecied well of you, hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth mee with lippes, but their heart is farre away from me.
7:7But they worship me in vaine, teaching for doctrines the commandements of men.
7:8For ye lay the commandement of God apart, and obserue the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and of cups, and many other such like things ye doe.
7:9And he sayd vnto them, Well, ye reiect the commandement of God, that ye may obserue your owne tradition.
7:10For Moses sayd, Honour thy father and thy mother: and Whosoeuer shall speake euill of father or mother, let him die the death.
7:11But yee say, If a man say to father or mother, Corban, that is, By the gift that is offered by mee, thou mayest haue profite, hee shall be free.
7:12So ye suffer him no more to doe any thing for his father, or his mother,
7:13Making the worde of God of none authoritie, by your tradition which ye haue ordeined: and ye doe many such like things.
7:14Then he called the whole multitude vnto him, and sayd vnto them, Hearken you all vnto me, and vnderstand.
7:15There is nothing without a man, that can defile him, when it entreth into him: but the things which proceede out of him, are they which defile the man.
7:16If any haue eares to heare, let him heare.
7:17And when hee came into an house, away from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
7:18And he sayde vnto them, What? are ye without vnderstanding also? Doe ye not knowe that whatsoeuer thing from without entreth into a man, cannot defile him,
7:19Because it entreth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught which is the purging of all meates?
7:20Then he sayd, That which commeth out of man, that defileth man.
7:21For from within, euen out of the heart of men, proceede euill thoughtes, adulteries, fornications, murthers,
7:22Theftes, couetousnes, wickednes, deceite, vncleannes, a wicked eye, backbiting, pride, foolishnesse.
7:23All these euill things come from within, and defile a man.
7:24And from thence he rose, and went into the borders of Tyrus and Sidon, and entred into an house, and woulde that no man should haue knowen: but he could not be hid.
7:25For a certaine woman, whose litle daughter had an vncleane spirit, heard of him, and came, and fell at his feete,
7:26(And the woman was a Greeke, a Syrophenissian by nation) and she besought him that he would cast out the deuill out of her daughter.
7:27But Iesus saide vnto her, Let the children first be fedde: for it is not good to take the childrens bread, and to cast it vnto whelpes.
7:28Then shee answered, and saide vnto him, Trueth, Lord: yet in deede the whelpes eate vnder the table of the childrens crommes.
7:29Then he said vnto her, For this saying goe thy way: the deuil is gone out of thy daughter.
7:30And when shee was come home to her house, shee founde the deuill departed, and her daughter lying on the bed.
7:31And hee departed againe from the coastes of Tyrus and Sidon, and came vnto the sea of Galile, through the middes of the coastes of Decapolis.
7:32And they brought vnto him one that was deafe and stambered in his speache, and prayed him to put his hand vpon him.
7:33Then hee tooke him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers in his eares, and did spit, and touched his tongue.
7:34And looking vp to heauen, hee sighed, and said vnto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
7:35And straightway his eares were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and hee spake plaine.
7:36And he commanded them, that they should tell no man: but howe much soeuer hee forbad them, the more a great deale they published it,
7:37And were beyonde measure astonied, saying, Hee hath done all thinges well: he maketh both the deafe to heare, and the domme to speake.

7:1Then the Pharisees and some of the scribes came together to Him, having come from Jerusalem.
7:2Now when they saw some of His disciples eat bread with defiled, that is, with unwashed hands, they found fault.
7:3Because, the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands often, holding the tradition of the elders.
7:4And when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other things which they have received to embrace, like the washing of cups, pots, copper vessels, and couches.
7:5Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, "Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?"
7:6He answered and said to them, "Rightly has Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites as it is written: 'This people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me."
7:7Therefore in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"
7:8Because laying aside the commandment of God, you embrace the tradition of men, like the washing of pots and cups, and many other such things you do."
7:9And He said to them, "All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition."
7:10Because, Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.'"
7:11But you claim, 'If a man says to his father or mother, "Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban"' (that is to say, a gift), then he will be exempt,
7:12then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother,"
7:13making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do."
7:14And when He had called all the people to Himself, He said to them, "Hear Me, everyone of you, and understand:"
7:15There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man."
7:16If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!"
7:17And when He had entered a house away from the people, His disciples asked Him concerning the parable.
7:18So He said to them, "Are you likewise without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him,"
7:19because, it does not enter his heart but the stomach, and goes out into the drain, thus purging all foods?"
7:20And He said, "That which comes out of a man, that defiles a man."
7:21Because, from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,"
7:22thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, perversion, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness."
7:23All these evil things come from within and defile the man."
7:24And from there He arose and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And He entered into a house and wanted no one to know it, but He could not be hidden.
7:25Because, a certain woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit heard about Him, and came and fell at His feet.
7:26The woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by birth, and she begged Him that He would cast the demon out of her daughter.
7:27But Jesus said to her, "Let the children be filled first, because it is not appropriate to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."
7:28And she replied and said to Him, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs under the table eat from the children's crumbs."
7:29Then He said to her, "Because of this saying go your way; the demon has gone out of your daughter."
7:30And when she had come to her house, she found the demon gone out, and her daughter lying upon the bed.
7:31And again, departing from the region of Tyre and Sidon, He came through the midst of the region of Decapolis to the Sea of Galilee.
7:32Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him.
7:33And He took him aside from the crowd, and put His fingers in his ears, and He spat and touched his tongue.
7:34Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, "Ephphatha," that is, "Be opened."
7:35And immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly.
7:36Then He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed it.
7:37And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak."
