9:1	And he sayd vnto them: Uerely, I saye vnto you: Ther be some among them that stande here, which shall not taste of death, tyll they haue sene the kyngdome of God come with power.
9:2	And after sixe dayes Iesus taketh Peter and Iames, and Iohn, and leedeth them vp into an hye mountayne out of the waye alone: and he was transfigured before them.
9:3	And hys rayment dyd shyne, and became very whyte, euen as snowe: so whyt as no fuller can make vpon the earth.
9:4	And ther appeared vnto them Elias with Moses. And they talked with Iesu.
9:5	And Peter answered & sayth to Iesu: Master, here is good beynge for vs: let vs make also .iij. tabernacles, one for the, and one for Moses, and one for Helias.
9:6	For he wyst not what he sayd: for they were afrayed.
9:7	And there was a cloude that shadowed them. And a voyce came out of the cloude, saying: Thys is my beloued sonne: heare hym.
9:8	And sodenly whan they had loked rounde aboute, they sawe no man more then Iesus onely with them.
9:9	And as they came downe from the hyll, he charged them, that they shuld tell no man those thynges that they had sene, tyll the sonne of man were rysen from death agayne.
9:10	And they kepte that saieng with them, and demaunded one of another, what the rysyng from death agayne shulde meane?
9:11	And they asked hym, sayenge: why then saye the scribes, that Helias must first come?
9:12	He answered and sayd: vnto them: Helias verely when he commeth fyrst, restoreth all thynges. And the sonne of man (as it is writen of him) shall suffre many thynges, & be sett at naught.
9:13	But I saye vnto you, thut Helias is come, and they haue done vnto hym whatsoeuer they wolde, as it was wryten of hym.
9:14	And whan he came to hys disciples, he sawe moch people about them, & the scribes disputing wt them.
9:15	And streight waye all the people (whan they behelde hym) were amased, and ran to hym, & saluted hym.
9:16	And he asked the scribes: what dispute ye among them?
9:17	And one of the company answered, & sayde: Master, I haue brought vnto the my sonne, whych hath a dome sprete.
9:18	And whensoeuer he taketh him, he teareth him, and he fometh, and gnassheth with hys teth, and pineth awaye. And I spake to thy disciples that they shuld caste hym out, and they coulde not.
9:19	He answereth him, and sayth: O faithles nacion, how longe shall I be wt you? How longe shall I suffre you? Brynge hym vnto me.
9:20	And they brought him vnto hym. And assone as the sprete sawe hym, he tare him. And he fell downe on the ground, walowing & foming.
9:21	And he asketh his father: how longe is it ago: sens thys happened hym? And he sayde: of a chylde:
9:22	& oft tymes it hath cast hym into the fyre, & into the water, to destroye hym. But yf thou canst do eny thing, haue mercy on vs and helpe vs.
9:23	Iesus sayd vnto hym: yf thou couldest beleue all thynges are possyble to hym that beleueth.
9:24	And streyght waye the father of the chyld cried with teares, saieng, Lord, I beleue, helpe thou myne vnbelefe.
9:25	When Iesus sawe that the people came runnyng together vnto him, he rebuked the foule sprete, saying vnto hym: Thou domme & deeff sprete, I charge the come out of him, and entre nomore into him.
9:26	And the sprete (whan he had cried, & rent hym sore) came out of hym, and he was as one that had bene dead, in so moch that many sayd: he is deed.
9:27	But Iesus caught hys hand, and lyft him vp: and he rose.
9:28	And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked hym secretly: why coulde not we cast hym oute?
9:29	And he sayde vnto them: this kynde can come forth by nothing: but by prayer and fastynge.
9:30	And they departed thens, & toke theyr iorney thorow Galile, and he wold not, that eny man shuld knowe it.
9:31	For he taught hys disciples, and sayd vnto them: the sonne of man shalbe deliuered into the handes of men, and they shall kyll hym: and after that he is kylled, he shall aryse agayne the thyrd daye.
9:32	But they wist not what he sayde, and were afrayed to aske him.
9:33	And he came to Capernaum. And when he was come into the house, he asked them: what was it that ye disputed among yourselues by the waye?
9:34	And they helde their peace: for by the waye they had reasoned among them selues, who shuld be the chefest.
9:35	And when he was set downe, he called the twelue to hym, and sayd vnto them: yf eny man desyre to be fyrst, the same shalbe last of all, and seruaunt to all.
9:36	And he toke a chylde, and set hym in the myddes of them: & when he had taken hym in hys armes, he sayde vnto them:
9:37	whosoeuer receaueth eny soche a childe in my name, receaueth me. And whosoeuer receaueth me, receaueth not me, but hym that sent me.
9:38	Iohn answered hym, sayinge: Master, we sawe one cast out deuyls in thy name, & he foloweth not vs: and we forbade hym, because he foloweth vs not.
9:39	But Iesus sayde: forbyd him not. For ther is no man whych (yf he do a myracle in my name) can lyghtely speake euill of me.
9:40	For he that is not agaynst vs, is on oure parte.
9:41	Whosoeuer shall in my name geue you a cuppe of water to drincke, because ye belonge to Chryste, verely I saye vnto you: he shall not loose hys reward.
9:42	And whosoeuer shall offende one of these lytelons, that beleue in me, it were better for hym, yf a mylstone were hanged aboute his necke, and he were cast into the see.
9:43	Wherfore yf thy hande hynder the, cut it of. It is beter for the, to entre into lyfe maymed, then (hauynge two handes) to go into hell, into fyre that neuer shalbe quenched,
9:44	where theyr worme dyeth not, and the fyre goeth not out.
9:45	And yf thy fote be a hynderaunce vnto the, cut it of. It is better for the to go halt into lyfe, then (hauynge two fete) to be cast into hell, into fyre that neuer shalbe quenched:
9:46	where theyr worme dyeth not, and the fyre goeth not out.
9:47	And yf thyne eye hinder the plucke it out. It is better for the to go into the kyngedome of God wyth one eye, then (hauynge two eyes) to be cast into hell fyre:
9:48	where theyr worme dyeth not, and the fyre goeth not out.
9:49	Euery man shalbe salted wyth fyre. And euery sacrifyce shalbe seasoned with salt.
9:50	Salt is good. But yf the salt be vnsauery, what shall ye season ther wyth? haue salt in youre selues: and haue peace amonge youre selues, one wyth another.


9:1	And he seide to hem, Treuli Y seie to you, that there ben summen stondynge here, whiche schulen not taste deth, til thei seen the rewme of God comynge in vertu.
9:2	And aftir sixe daies Jhesus took Petre, and James, and Joon, and ledde hem bi hem silf aloone in to an hiy hille; and he was transfigurid bifor hem.
9:3	And hise clothis weren maad ful schynynge and white as snow, whiche maner white clothis a fuller may not make on erthe.
9:4	And Helie with Moises apperide to hem, and thei spaken with Jhesu.
9:5	And Petre answeride, and seide to Jhesu, Maister, it is good vs to be here; and make we here thre tabernaclis, oon to thee, oon to Moyses, and oon to Helie.
9:6	For he wiste not what he schulde seie; for thei weren agaste bi drede.
9:7	And ther was maad a cloude overschadewynge hem; and a vois cam of the cloude, and seide, This is my moost derworth sone, here ye hym.
9:8	And anoon thei bihelden aboute, and sayn no more ony man, but Jhesu oonli with hem.
9:9	And whanne thei camen doun fro the hille, he comaundide hem, that thei schulden not telle to ony man tho thingis that thei hadden seen, but whanne mannus sone hath risun ayen fro deeth.
9:10	And thei helden the word at hem silf, sekynge what this schulde be, whanne he hadde risun ayen fro deth.
9:11	And thei axiden hym, and seiden, What thanne seien Farisees and scribis, for it bihoueth `Helie to come first.
9:12	And he answeride, and seide to hem, Whanne Helie cometh, he schal first restore alle thingis; and as it is writun of mannus sone, that he suffre many thingis, and be dispisid.
9:13	And Y seie to you, that Helie is comun, and thei diden to hym what euer thingis thei wolden, as it is writun of hym.
9:14	And he comynge to hise disciplis, saiy a greet cumpany aboute hem, and scribis disputynge with hem.
9:15	And anoon al the puple seynge Jhesu, was astonyed, and thei dredden; and thei rennynge gretten hym.
9:16	And he axide hem, What disputen ye among you?
9:17	And oon of the cumpany answerde, and seide, Mayster, Y haue brouyt to thee my sone, that hath a doumbe spirit; and where euer he takith hym,
9:18	he hurtlith hym doun, and he fometh, and betith togidir with teeth, and wexith drye. And Y seide to thi disciplis, that thei schulden caste hym out, and thei myyten not.
9:19	And he answeride to hem, and seide, A! thou generacioun out of bileue, hou longe schal Y be among you, hou longe schal Y suffre you? Brynge ye hym to me.
9:20	And thei brouyten hym. And whanne he had seyn him, anoon the spirit troublide him; and was throw doun to grounde, and walewide, and fomede.
9:21	And he axide his fadir, Hou longe `is it, sith this `hath falle to hym? And he seide, Fro childhode;
9:22	and ofte he hath put hym in to fier, and in to watir, to leese hym; but if thou maiste ony thing, helpe vs, and haue merci on vs.
9:23	And Jhesus seide to hym, If thou maiste bileue, alle thingis ben possible to man that bileueth.
9:24	And anoon the fadir of the child criede with teeris, and seide, Lord, Y bileue; Lord, helpe thou myn vnbileue.
9:25	And whanne Jhesus hadde seyn the puple rennynge togidere, he manasside the vnclene spirit, and seide to hym, Thou deef and doumbe spirit, Y comaunde thee, go out fro hym, and entre no more in to hym.
9:26	And he criynge, and myche to breidynge him, wente out fro hym; and he was maad as deed, so that many seiden, that he was deed.
9:27	And Jhesus helde his hoond, and lifte hym vp; and he roos.
9:28	And whanne he hadde entrid in to an hous, hise disciplis axiden hym priueli, Whi myyten not we caste hym out?
9:29	And he seide to hem, This kynde in no thing may go out, but in preier and fastyng.
9:30	And thei yeden fro thennus, and wente forth in to Galile; and thei wolden not, that ony man wiste.
9:31	And he tauyte hise disciplis, and seide to hem, For mannus sone schal be bitrayed in to the hondis of men, and thei schulen sle hym, and he slayn schal ryse ayen on the thridde day.
9:32	And thei knewen not the word, and dredden to axe hym.
9:33	And thei camen to Cafarnaum. And whanne thei weren in the hous, he axide hem, What tretiden ye in the weie?
9:34	And thei weren stille; for thei disputiden among hem in the weie, who of hem schulde be grettest.
9:35	And he sat, and clepide the twelue, and seide to hem, If ony man wole be the firste among you, he schal be the laste of alle, and the mynyster of alle.
9:36	And he took a child, and sette hym in the myddil of hem; and whanne he hadde biclippid hym, he seide to hem,
9:37	Who euer resseyueth oon of such children in my name, he resseyueth me; and who euer resseyueth me, he resseyueth not me aloone, but hym that sente me.
9:38	Joon answeride to hym, and seide, Maister, we sayn oon castynge out feendis in thi name, which sueth not vs, and we han forbodun hym.
9:39	And Jhesus seide, Nyle ye forbede him; for ther is no man that doith vertu in my name, and may soone speke yuel of me.
9:40	He that is not ayens vs, is for vs.
9:41	And who euer yyueth you a cuppe of coold water to drynke in my name, for ye ben of Crist, treuli Y seie to you, he schal not leese his mede.
9:42	And who euer schal sclaundre oon of these litle that bileuen in me, it were betere to hym that a mylne stoon `of assis were don aboute his necke, and he were cast in to the see.
9:43	And if thin hoond sclaundre thee, kitte it awey; it is betere to thee to entre feble in to lijf, than haue two hondis, and go in to helle, in to fier that neuer schal be quenchid,
9:44	where the worm of hem dieth not, and the fier is not quenchid.
9:45	And if thi foote sclaundre thee, kitte it of; it is betere to thee to entre crokid in to euerlastynge lijf, than haue twei feet, and be sent in to helle of fier, that neuer schal be quenchid,
9:46	where the worme of hem dieth not, and the fier is not quenchid.
9:47	That if thin iye sclaundre thee, cast it out; it is betere to thee to entre gogil iyed in to the reume of God, than haue twey iyen, and be sent in to helle of fier, where the worme of hem dieth not,
9:48	and the fier is not quenchid.
9:49	And euery man schal be saltid with fier, and euery slayn sacrifice schal be maad sauery with salt.
9:50	Salt is good; if salt be vnsauery, in what thing schulen ye make it sauery? Haue ye salt among you, and haue ye pees among you.

9:6	For he knewe not what he sayde, and they were very fearfull.
9:7	And there was a cloude, which ouershadowed the. And out of the cloude there came a voyce, and sayde: This is my deare sonne, heare him.
9:8	And immediatly they loked aboute them, and sawe noman more then Iesus onely with them.
9:9	But whan they wente downe from the mountayne, Iesus charged them, that they shulde tell no man what they had sene, tyll the sonne of man were rysen agayne from the deed.
9:10	And they kepte that sayenge by them, and axed one another: What is that rysinge agayne from the deed?
9:11	And they axed him, and sayde: Why saye the scrybes then, that Elias must first come?
9:12	He answered and sayde vnto them: Elias shal come first in dede, and brynge all thinges to right agayne. The sonne of man also shal suffre many thinges, and be despysed, as it is wrytten.
9:13	But I saye vnto you: Elias is come, and they haue done vnto him what they wolde, acordinge as it is wrytten of him?
9:14	And he came to his disciples, and sawe moch people aboute them, and the scrybes disputynge with them.
9:15	And as soone as the people sawe, they were astonnyed, and ranne vnto him, and saluted him.
9:16	And he axed the scrybes: What dispute ye with them?
9:17	And one of the people answered, and sayde: Master, I haue brought vnto the my sonne, which hath a domme sprete:
9:18	and whan so euer he taketh him, he teareth him, and he fometh, and gnassheth with the teth, and pyneth awaye, & I haue spoken to thy disciples that they shulde cast him out, and they coude not.
9:19	He answered him, and sayde: O thou vnfaithfull generacion, how longe shal I be with you? How longe shal I suffre you? Brynge hi hither to me.
9:20	And they brought him vnto him. And as soone as the sprete sawe him, he tare him, and fell vpon the earth, and weltred and fomed.
9:21	And he axed his father: How longe is it, sens this happened vnto him? He sayde: Of a childe,
9:22	and oft tymes hath he cast him in to the fyre and water, to destroye him: but yf thou canst do enythinge, haue mercy vpon vs, and helpe vs.
9:23	Iesus sayde vnto him: Yf thou couldest beleue: All thinges are possible vnto him that beleueth.
9:24	And immediatly the father of the childe cried with teares, and sayde: LORDE I beleue: O helpe thou myne vnbeleue.
9:25	Now whan Iesus sawe that the people ranne to, he rebuked the foule sprete, and sayde vnto him: Thou domme and deaf sprete, I charge the, departe out of him, and entre nomore in to him from hence forth.
9:26	And he cried, and rent him sore, and departed. And he was as though he had bene deed, in so moch that many sayde: he is deed.
9:27	But Iesus toke him by the hande, and set him vp. And he arose.
9:28	And whan he came home, his disciples axed him secretly: Why coulde not we cast him out?
9:29	And he sayde: This kynde ca go out by no meanes, but by prayer and fastynge.
9:30	And they departed thece, and toke their iourney thorow Galile, and he wolde not that eny man shulde knowe of it.
9:31	But he taught his disciples, and sayde vnto them: The sonne of ma shalbe delyuered in to the handes of men, and they shal put him to death: and whan he is put to death, he shal ryse ageyne the thirde daye.
9:32	But they vnderstode not that worde, and were afrayed to axe him.
9:33	And he came to Capernaum. And whan he was at home, he axed them? What disputed ye amonge youre selues by ye waye?
9:34	But they helde their tuges: For they had disputed by the waye amonge them selues, who shulde be ye greatest.
9:35	And he sat downe, and called the twolue, and sayde vnto them: Yf eny man wyl be the first, the same shal be the last of all, and the seruaunt of all.
9:36	And he toke a childe, and set him in the myddest of them, and toke him in his armes, and sayde vnto them:
9:37	Who so euer receaueth soch a childe in my name, receaueth me: and who so euer receaueth me, receaueth not me, but him that hath sent me.
9:38	Ihon answered him, and sayde: Master, we sawe one dryue out deuels in thy name, but he foloweth not vs, and we forbad him because he foloweth vs not.
9:39	But Iesus sayde: Forbyd him not: for there is no ma that doth a myracle in my name, and can soone speake euell of me.
9:40	For who so euer is not agaynst vs, the same is for vs.
9:41	And who so euer geueth you a cuppe of water to drynke in my name, because ye belonge vnto Christ, verely I saye vnto you: he shal not lose his rewarde.
9:42	And who so offendeth one of these litle ones that beleue in me, it were better for him, that a mylstone were haged aboute his neck, and he cast in to the see.
9:43	Yf thy hade offende the, cut him of. Better it is for the to entre in to life lame, the hauynge two hondes to go in to hell in to the euerlastinge fyre,
9:44	where their worme dyeth not, and their fyre goeth not out.
9:45	Yf thy fote offende the, cut him of. Better it is for the to entre into life crepell, the hauynge two fete to be cast in to hell in the fyre euerlastynge,
9:46	where their worme dyeth not, and their fyre goeth not out.
9:47	Yf thine eye offende the, cast him from the. Better it is for the to entre in to ye kyngdome of God with one eye, then hauynge two eyes to be cast in to the fyre of hell:
9:48	where their worme dyeth not, and their fyre goeth not out.
9:49	For euery ma must be salted wt fyre, & euery offerynge shalbe seasoned wt salt.
9:50	The salt is good: but yf ye salt be vnsauery, wherwith all shal it be salted? Haue salt in you & peace amonge yor selues one with another.
