15:1	And anone in the daunynge the hye priestes helde a counsel with the elders, and the scribes, and the whole congregacion & bounde Iesus and ledde hym awaye, & delyuered hym to Pilate.
15:2	And Pylate axed hym: arte thou the kynge of the Iewes? And he aunswered and sayde vnto hym: thou sayest it.
15:3	And the hyghe Priestes accused him of manye thynges.
15:4	Wherfore Pylate axeth hym agayne, saying: Answerest thou nothyng? beholde how manye thinges they laye vnto thy charge:
15:5	Iesus yet aunswered neuer a worde, so that Pylate meruayled.
15:6	At that feaste Pylate was wonte to delyuer at theyr pleasure a prysoner, whosoeuer they woulde desyre.
15:7	And there was one named Barrabas, whiche laye bounde with them that made insurreccyon, and the insurreccyon committed murther.
15:8	And the people called vnto hym, & began to desyre, accordyng as he had euer done vnto them:
15:9	Pylate aunswered them, & sayd: Wil ye that I lowse vnto you the kyng of the Iewes?
15:10	For he knew that the hye priestes had deliuered him of enuye.
15:11	But the hye prestes had moued the people: that he shoulde rather delyuer Barrabas vnto them.
15:12	And Pylate aunswered agayne, & sayd vnto them: what wyl ye then that I do with hym, whom ye call the kynge of the Iewes?
15:13	And they cryed agayne: crucifye hym.
15:14	Pylate said vnto them: what euyl hath he done? And they cryed the more feruentlye: Crucifye hym.
15:15	And so Pylate wyllyng to content the people, loused them Barrabas, and delyuered Iesus, when he had scourged hym, for to be crucifyed.
15:16	And the soudyers ledde hym away into the common hall, and called together the whole multytude,
15:17	and they clothed him wyth purple, and they platted a croune of thornes and crouned hym with al,
15:18	and began to salute hym: Hayle kynge of the Iewes.
15:19	And they smote hym on the head with a rede, and spatte vpon hym, and kneled doune & worshipped hym.
15:20	And when they had mocked hym, they toke the purple of hym, and put hys owne clothes on him, and led him out to crucifye him.
15:21	And they compelled one that passed by, called Simon of Ciren (which came out of the feld, and was father of Alexander and Rufus) to beare hys crosse.
15:22	And they broughte hym to a place named Golgotha (which is by interpretacyon, the place of dead mens sculles)
15:23	and they gaue hym to drynke wyne myngled wyth myrre, but he receyued it not.
15:24	And when they had crucifyed hym, they parted hys garmentes castynge lotes for them, what euerye man shoulde haue.
15:25	And it was about the thyrde houre, and they crucyfyed him.
15:26	And the tytle of hys cause was written: The kynge of the Iewes.
15:27	And they crucified wt hym two theues, the one on the ryght hande, and the other on his lyft.
15:28	And the scrypture was fulfylled which sayth: he was counted amonge the wycked.
15:29	And they that wente by rayled on hym: waggynge their heades and sayinge: A wretche, that destroyest the temple, and buyldest it in thre dayes:
15:30	saue thy selfe, and come doune from the crosse:
15:31	Lykewise also mocked him the hye pryestes amonge them selues with the scribes and sayde: he saued other men, hym selfe he can not saue.
15:32	Let Christe the kinge of Israel now descende from the crosse, that we may se and beleue. And they that were crucyfyed with hym, checked him also.
15:33	And when the syxte houre was come, darcknes arose ouer all the earth vntyll the ninthe houre.
15:34	And Iesus cryed with a loude voice saying: Eloi Eloi lamasabaththany, whiche is if it be interpreted, my God my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
15:35	And some of them that stode by, when they hearde that: saide: behold he calleth for Helias.
15:36	And one ran and fylled a sponge full of vyneger and put it on a rede, and gaue him to drinke, saying let him alone, let vs se whither Helyas wyll come and take him doune.
15:37	But Iesus cryeth with a loude voice, and gaue vp the ghost.
15:38	And the vayle of the temple dyd rent in two peces from the toppe to the bottome.
15:39	And when the Centurion which stode before him, sawe that he so cried and gaue vp the ghost he sayde: truly this man was the sonne of God.
15:40	Ther were also women a good waye of beholdyng hym: among whom was Mary Magdalen, and Marye the mother of Iames the lytle, and of Ioses, & Mary Salome:
15:41	whiche also when he was in Galile, folowed hym, and mynistred vnto hym: and manye other women, whiche came vp with hym vnto Ierusalem:
15:42	And now when night was come (because it was the euen that goeth before the Saboth)
15:43	Ioseph of Arimathia a noble Councelloure which also loked for the kyngdome of God, came and went in boldly vnto Pylate, & begged the bodye of Iesu.
15:44	And Pylate merueyled that he was already deade, and called vnto hym the Centurion, and axed of hym, whether he had bene anye whyle deade.
15:45	And when he knewe the truth of the Centuryon, he gaue the body to Ioseph.
15:46	And he bought a lynnen clothe, and toke him doune, and wrapped him in the lynnen clothe, and layde hym in a tombe that was hewen out of the rocke, and rolled a stone vnto the dore of the sepulchre.
15:47	And Mary Magdalen & Marye Ioses behelde where he was layed.


15:1	And anon in the dawning, the hie Priestes helde a Councill with the Elders, and the Scribes, and the whole Council, and bound Iesus, and led him away, and deliuered him to Pilate.
15:2	Then Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Iewes? And hee answered, and sayde vnto him, Thou sayest it.
15:3	And the hie Priestes accused him of many things.
15:4	Wherefore Pilate asked him againe, saying, Answerest thou nothing? beholde howe many things they witnesse against thee.
15:5	But Iesus answered no more at all, so that Pilate marueiled.
15:6	Nowe at the feast, Pilate did deliuer a prisoner vnto them, whomesoeuer they woulde desire.
15:7	Then there was one named Barabbas, which was bounde with his fellowes, that had made insurrection, who in the insurrection had committed murder.
15:8	And the people cried aloude, and began to desire that he woulde doe as he had euer done vnto them.
15:9	Then Pilate answered them, and said, Will ye that I let loose vnto you the King of ye Iewes?
15:10	For he knewe that the hie Priestes had deliuered him of enuie.
15:11	But the high Priestes had moued the people to desire that he would rather deliuer Barabbas vnto them.
15:12	And Pilate answered, and said againe vnto them, What will ye then that I doe with him, whom ye call the King of the Iewes?
15:13	And they cried againe, Crucifie him.
15:14	Then Pilate said vnto them, But what euill hath he done? And they cryed the more feruently, Crucifie him.
15:15	So Pilate willing to content the people, loosed them Barabbas, and deliuered Iesus, when he had scourged him, that he might be crucified.
15:16	Then the souldiers led him away into the hall, which is the common hall, and called together the whole band,
15:17	And clad him with purple, and platted a crowne of thornes, and put it about his head,
15:18	And began to salute him, saying, Haile, King of the Iewes.
15:19	And they smote him on the head with a reede, and spat vpon him, and bowed the knees, and did him reuerence.
15:20	And whe they had mocked him, they tooke the purple off him, and put his owne clothes on him, and led him out to crucifie him.
15:21	And they compelled one that passed by, called Simon of Cyrene (which came out of the countrey, and was father of Alexander and Rufus) to beare his crosse.
15:22	And they brought him to a place named Golgotha, which is by interpretation, the place of dead mens skulles.
15:23	And they gaue him to drinke wine mingled with myrrhe: but he receiued it not.
15:24	And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots for them, what euery man should haue.
15:25	And it was the third houre, when they crucified him.
15:26	And ye title of his cause was written aboue, THAT KING OF THE JEWES.
15:27	They crucified also with him two theeues, the one on ye right hand, and the other on his left.
15:28	Thus the Scripture was fulfilled, which sayth, And he was counted among the wicked.
15:29	And they that went by, railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Hey, thou that destroyest the Temple, and buildest it in three dayes,
15:30	Saue thy selfe, and come downe from the crosse.
15:31	Likewise also euen the hie Priests mocking, said among themselues with the Scribes, He saued other men, himselfe he cannot saue.
15:32	Let Christ the King of Israel nowe come downe from the crosse, that we may see, and beleeue. They also that were crucified with him, reuiled him.
15:33	Nowe when the sixt houre was come, darkenesse arose ouer all the land vntill the ninth houre.
15:34	And at the ninth houre Iesus cryed with a loude voyce, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lamma-sabachthani? which is by interpretation, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
15:35	And some of them that stoode by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
15:36	And one ranne, and filled a spondge full of vineger, and put it on a reede, and gaue him to drinke, saying, Let him alone: let vs see if Elias will come, and take him downe.
15:37	And Iesus cryed with a loude voyce, and gaue vp the ghost.
15:38	And the vaile of the Temple was rent in twaine, from the toppe to the bottome.
15:39	Nowe when the Centurion, which stoode ouer against him, sawe that he thus crying gaue vp the ghost, he saide, Truely this man was the Sonne of God.
15:40	There were also women, which beheld afarre off, among whom was Marie Magdalene, and Marie (the mother of Iames the lesse, and of Ioses) and Salome,
15:41	Which also when he was in Galile, folowed him, and ministred vnto him, and many other women which came vp with him vnto Hierusalem.
15:42	And nowe when the night was come (because it was the day of the preparation that is before the Sabbath)
15:43	Ioseph of Arimathea, an honorable counsellour, which also looked for the kingdome of God, came, and went in boldly vnto Pilate, and asked the body of Iesus.
15:44	And Pilate marueiled, if he were already dead, and called vnto him the Centurion, and asked of him whether he had bene any while dead.
15:45	And when he knewe the trueth of the Centurion, he gaue the body to Ioseph:
15:46	Who bought a linnen cloth, and tooke him downe, and wrapped him in the linnen cloth, and laide him in a tombe that was hewen out of a rocke, and rolled a stone vnto the doore of the sepulchre:
15:47	And Marie Magdalene, and Marie Ioses mother, behelde where he should be layed.


15:1	And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.
15:2	And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.
15:3	And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
15:4	And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.
15:5	But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
15:6	Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.
15:7	And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
15:8	And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.
15:9	But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
15:10	For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.
15:11	But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
15:12	And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
15:13	And they cried out again, Crucify him.
15:14	Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
15:15	And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
15:16	And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.
15:17	And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,
15:18	And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
15:19	And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
15:20	And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
15:21	And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
15:22	And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.
15:23	And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.
15:24	And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.
15:25	And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
15:26	And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
15:27	And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
15:28	And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
15:29	And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
15:30	Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
15:31	Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
15:32	Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
15:33	And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
15:34	And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
15:35	And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.

15:41	(Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.
15:42	And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
15:43	Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
15:44	And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
15:45	And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
15:46	And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
15:47	And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.
