14:1	After two dayes folowed easter and the dayes of swete breade. And the hye priestes and the scrybes soughte meanes howe they myght take hym by crafte, and put hym to death.
14:2	But they sayde: Not in the feast daye least any busynes aryse among the people.
14:3	When he was in Bethania, in the house of Simon the leper, euen as he sate at meate ther came a woman hauynge an alabaster boxe of oyntment called narde, that was pure & costly, and she brake the boxe and powred it on hys head.
14:4	And there were some that were not content in them selues, and sayd: what neded this waste of oyntment?
14:5	For it myght haue bene solde for more then thre hundred pence, & bene geuen vnto the poore. And they grudged agaynste her.
14:6	And Iesus sayde: let her be in reste, why troubled ye her? she hath done a good worke on me.
14:7	For ye shall haue poore men with you alwayes, & whensoeuer ye wyll, ye maye do them good, but me ye shal not haue alwayes.
14:8	She hath done that she coulde: she came afore hande to anoynte my body to hys buryenge warde.
14:9	Verelye I saye vnto you: where soeuer this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole worlde, this also that she hath done shalbe rehearsed in remembraunce of her.
14:10	And Iudas Ischarioth one of the twelue went awaye vnto the hye priestes, to betraye hym vnto them.
14:11	When they hearde that, they were glad, and promysed that they woulde geue hym money. And he sought howe he myghte conuenientlye betraye hym.
14:12	And the fyrst daye of swete bread: when men after the pascall lambe, hys discyples sayed vnto him: where wilt thou that we go & prepare that thou mayest eat the easter lambe?
14:13	And he sente forthe two of his disciples, and sayed vnto them: Go ye into the citye: and there shal a man mete you bearynge a pycher of water, folowe him.
14:14	And whyther soeuer he goeth in, say ye to the good man of the house: the maister axeth: where is the gest chambre, where I shall eat the easter lambe wt my disciples.
14:15	And he wyll shew you a great parloure, paued & prepared: there make readye for vs.
14:16	And his discyples went forth, and came to the citie, and founde as he had sayd vnto them: & made ready the easter lambe.
14:17	And at euen he came with the twelue
14:18	and as they sate at borde, and eate. Iesus sayd: Verelye I saye vnto you: that one of you shal betraye me, whiche eateth with me.
14:19	And they beganne to mourne, and to say to him one by one: is it I? and another sayde: is it I?
14:20	He aunswered, and sayde vnto them: It is one of the .xij. & the same deppeth with me in the platter.
14:21	The sonne of man goeth as it is written of hym, but woo be to that man, by whom the sonne of man is betrayed: good were it for hym, yf that man had neuer bene borne.
14:22	And as they eate. Iesus toke bread, blessed and brake & gaue to them & sayd: Take, eat, this is my body.
14:23	And he toke the cup, gaue thankes, & gaue it to them, & they all dranke of it.
14:24	And he sayed vnto them: This is my bloud of the new Testament which is shed for many.
14:25	Verely I saye vnto you: I wyll drinke no more of thys frute of the vyne, vntil that day, that I drinke it newe in the kingdome of God.
14:26	And when they had grace, they went out to mount Oliuete.
14:27	And Iesus sayde vnto them. All ye shalbe offended through me this night. For it is written: I wyll smyte the shepeherde, and the shepe shalbe scattered.
14:28	But after that I am rysen agayne: I wyll go into Galile before you.
14:29	Peter sayd vnto him. And though all men should be offended, yet woulde not I.
14:30	And Iesus said vnto hym: Verelye I saye vnto the, this daye euen in thys nyghte before the cocke crowe twyse, thou shalte denye me thryse.
14:31	And he spake boldelyer: no, yf I shoulde dye wt the I wyll not deuye the. Lykewyse also sayde they all.
14:32	And they came into a place named Gethsemanye, and he sayde to hys discyples: Syt ye here, whyle I go a parte and praye.
14:33	And he toke with him Peter, Iames, and Iohn, & he began to waxe abashed, and to be in an agonye,
14:34	and said vnto them: My soule is very heauye euen vnto the death: tarye here & watche.
14:35	And he wente forthe a litle and fell doune on the grounde, and prayed: that yf it were possyble, the houre myght passe from hym.
14:36	And he sayde: Abba father, all thynges are possyble vnto the, take awaye this cup from me. Neuerthelesse, not that I wyll but that thou wylte, be done.
14:37	And he came, and founde them slepynge, and sayd to Peter: Symon slepest thou? Couldest not thou watche wt me one houre?
14:38	watche ye, and praye leaste ye enter into temptacyon, the spirite is ready, and the fleshe is weake.
14:39	And agayne he went away and prayed and spake the same wordes.
14:40	And he returned and found them a slepe agayn, for theyr eyes were heauy: neither wyste they what to aunswere hym.
14:41	And he came the thyrde tyme and sayd vnto them: slepe hence forth and take youre ease, it is ynough. The houre is come, beholde the sonne of man shalbe delyuered into the handes of synners.
14:42	Ryse vp let vs go. Lo, he that betrayeth me, is at hande.
14:43	And immediatelye whyle he yet spake, came Iudas one of the twelue, and wyth him a great numbre of people wt sweardes & staues from the hyghe Priestes & Scribes & elders.
14:44	And he that betrayed him, had geuen them a generall token saiyng: whosoeuer I do kysse, he it is: take hym & leade him awaye warely.
14:45	And assone as he was come, he went straighte waye to hym, and sayed vnto him: mayster, and kyssed him.
14:46	And they layde theyr handes on hym, and toke him.
14:47	And one of them that stode by, drue out a swerde & smote a seruaunt of the hye priest, and cut of hys eare.
14:48	And Iesus aunswered and sayd vnto them: ye be come oute as vnto a thefe with swerdes & with staues, for to take me.
14:49	I was daylye wt you in the temple teachynge, and ye toke me not: but that the scriptures shoulde be fulfylled.
14:50	And they all forsoke him, & ranne away.
14:51	And there folowed him a certayne yong man clothed in linnen vpon the bare, and the yong men caught him,
14:52	and he lefte hys linnen, and fleed from them naked.
14:53	And they leed Iesus awaye to the hyest priest of all, & to him came all the hye priestes, and the elders, and the scribes.
14:54	And Peter folowed him a great waye of euen into the pallaice of the hye priest, and sat with the seruauntes, and warmed hym self at the fyre.
14:55	And the hye priestes, and al the counsell soughte for witnes againste Iesu to put him to death, & founde none.
14:56	Yet manye bare false witnes againste him, but theyr witnes agreed not together.
14:57	And there arose certayne and brought false wytnes agaynst hym, saiinge:
14:58	We hearde him saye: I will destroy this temple made with handes, & within .iij. dayes I will buylde another made without handes.
14:59	But theyr wytnes agreed not together.
14:60	And the hyest priest stode vp amongest them: and axed Iesus, sayinge: answerest thou nothynge? Howe is it that these beare witnes agaynst the?
14:61	And he helde hys peace, and aunswered nothynge. Agayne the hyest priest axed him, and sayed vnto hym: Arte thou christe the sonne of the blessed?
14:62	And Iesus sayed: I am. And ye shall se the sonne of man sit on the ryght hande of power, and come in the cloudes of heauen.
14:63	Then the hyest prieste rent hys clothes, & sayd: What nede we any further of witnesse?
14:64	ye haue hearde the blasphemy, what thynke ye? And then they all gaue sentence, that he was worth of death,
14:65	and some began to spit at hym, and to couer hys face, and to beate hym wyth fystes, and to saye vnto him: areade vnto vs? And the seruauntes boffeted hym on the face.
14:66	And as Peter was beneth in the pallayce, there came one of the wenches of the hyest priest,
14:67	& when she sawe Peter warmyng him selfe she loked on hym, and sayd: Waste not thou also with Iesus of Nazareth?
14:68	And he denyed it, saying: I know hym not, neyther wot I what thou sayest. And he wente out into the porche, and the cocke crew.
14:69	And a damsell saw hym, and agayne beganne to saye to them that stode by: thys is one of them.
14:70	And he denyed it agayne. And anone after, they that stode by, sayed agayne to Peter: Surely thou art one of them, for thou arte of Galile, and thy speache agreeth therto.
14:71	And he began to cursse and to sweare, saiynge: I know not this man of whome ye speake.
14:72	And agayne the cocke crewe, and Peter remembred the worde that Iesus sayed vnto hym: before the cocke crowe twyse, thou shalte denye me thyrse, & began to wepe.

14:4	Therefore some disdained among themselues, and sayde, To what ende is this waste of oyntment?
14:5	For it might haue bene sold for more then three hundreth pence, and bene giuen vnto the poore, and they murmured against her.
14:6	But Iesus saide, Let her alone: why trouble yee her? shee hath wrought a good worke on me.
14:7	For yee haue the poore with you alwaies, and when yee will yee may doe them good, but me yee shall not haue alwaies.
14:8	She hath done that she coulde: she came afore hand to anoynt my body to the burying.
14:9	Verely I say vnto you, wheresoeuer this Gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done, shalbe spoken of in remembrance of her.
14:10	Then Iudas Iscariot, one of the twelue, went away vnto the hie Priestes, to betray him vnto them.
14:11	And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised that they woulde giue him monie: therefore he sought howe he might conueniently betraie him.
14:12	Nowe the first day of vnleauened bread, when they sacrificed the Passeouer, his disciples sayde vnto him, Where wilt thou that we goe and prepare, that thou mayest eate the Passeouer?
14:13	Then hee sent foorth two of his disciples, and sayde vnto them, Goe yee into the citie, and there shall a man meete you bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
14:14	And whithersoeuer he goeth in, say yee to the good man of the house, The Master sayeth, Where is the lodging where I shall eate the Passeouer with my disciples?
14:15	And he wil shewe you an vpper chamber which is large, trimmed and prepared: there make it readie for vs.
14:16	So his disciples went foorth, and came to the citie, and found as he had said vnto them, and made readie the Passeouer.
14:17	And at euen he came with the twelue.
14:18	And as they sate at table and did eate, Iesus said, Verely I say vnto you, that one of you shall betray me, which eateth with me.
14:19	Then they began to be sorowful and to say to him one by one, Is it I? And another, Is it I?
14:20	And he answered and sayde vnto them, It is one of the twelue that dippeth with mee in the platter.
14:21	Truely the Sonne of man goeth his way, as it is written of him: but woe bee to that man, by whome the Sonne of man is betrayed: it had beene good for that man, if hee had neuer beene borne.
14:22	And as they did eate, Iesus tooke the bread, and when hee had giuen thankes, he brake it and gaue it to them, and sayde, Take, eate, this is my bodie.
14:23	Also he tooke the cuppe, and when he had giuen thankes, gaue it to them: and they all dranke of it.
14:24	And he saide vnto them, This is my blood of that newe Testament, which is shed for many.
14:25	Verely I say vnto you, I wil drinke no more of the fruit of ye vine vntill that day, that I drinke it newe in the kingdome of God.
14:26	And when they had sung a Psalme, they went out to the mount of Oliues.
14:27	Then Iesus said vnto them, Al ye shall be offended by mee this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepheard, and the sheepe shall be scattered.
14:28	But after that I am risen, I will goe into Galile before you.
14:29	And Peter saide vnto him, Although all men should be offended at thee, yet would not I.
14:30	Then Iesus saide vnto him, Verely I say vnto thee, this day, euen in this night, before the cocke crowe twise, thou shalt denie me thrise.
14:31	But he saide more earnestly. If I shoulde die with thee, I will not denie thee: likewise also saide they all.
14:32	After, they came into a place named Gethsemane: then hee saide to his disciples, Sit yee here, till I haue praied.
14:33	And hee tooke with him Peter, and Iames, and Iohn, and hee began to be troubled, and in great heauinesse,
14:34	And saide vnto them, My soule is very heauie, euen vnto the death: tarie here, and watch.
14:35	So he went forward a litle, and fell downe on the ground, and praied, that if it were possible, that houre might passe from him.
14:36	And he saide, Abba, Father, all things are possible vnto thee: take away this cup from me: neuertheles not that I will, but that thou wilt, be done.
14:37	Then hee came, and founde them sleeping, and said to Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watche one houre?
14:38	Watch ye, and pray, that ye enter not into tentation: the spirite in deede is ready, but the flesh is weake.
14:39	And againe hee went away, and praied, and spake the same wordes.
14:40	And he returned, and founde them a sleepe againe: for their eyes were heauie: neither knewe they what they should answere him.
14:41	And he came the third time, and said vnto them, Sleepe henceforth, and take your rest: it is ynough: the houre is come: beholde, the Sonne of man is deliuered into the hands of sinners.
14:42	Rise vp: let vs go: loe, he that betraieth me, is at hand.
14:43	And immediatly while hee yet spake, came Iudas that was one of the twelue, and with him a great multitude with swordes and staues from the hie Priests, and Scribes, and Elders.
14:44	And he that betraied him, had giuen them a token, saying, Whomsoeuer I shall kisse, he it is: take him and leade him away safely.
14:45	And assoone as hee was come, hee went straightway to him, and saide, Haile Master, and kissed him.
14:46	Then they laide their handes on him, and tooke him.
14:47	And one of them that stoode by, drewe out a sword, and smote a seruant of the hie Priest, and cut off his eare.
14:48	And Iesus answered and saide to them, Ye be come out as against a thiefe with swordes, and with staues, to take me.
14:49	I was daily with you teaching in the Temple, and yee tooke me not: but this is done that the Scriptures should be fulfilled.
14:50	Then they all forsooke him, and fled.
14:51	And there followed him a certaine yong man, clothed in linnen vpon his bare bodie, and the yong men caught him.
14:52	But he left his linnen cloth, and fled from them naked.
14:53	So they led Iesus away to the hie Priest, and to him came together all the hie Priestes, and the Elders, and the Scribes.
14:54	And Peter folowed him afarre off, euen into the hall of the hie Priest, and sate with the seruants, and warmed himselfe at the fire.
14:55	And the hie Priests, and all the Councill sought for witnesse against Iesus, to put him to death, but found none.
14:56	For many bare false witnesse against him, but their witnesse agreed not together.
14:57	Then there arose certaine, and bare false witnesse against him, saying,
14:58	We hearde him say, I will destroy this Temple made with hands, and within three daies I will builde another, made without hands.
14:59	But their witnesse yet agreed not together.
14:60	Then the hie Priest stoode vp amongst them, and asked Iesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is the matter that these beare witnesse against thee?
14:61	But hee helde his peace, and answered nothing. Againe the hie Priest asked him, and sayde vnto him, Art thou that Christ the Sonne of the Blessed?
14:62	And Iesus said, I am he, and yee shall see the Sonne of man sitte at the right hande of the power of God, and come in the clouds of heauen.
14:63	Then the hie Priest rent his clothes, and sayd, What haue we any more neede of witnesses?
14:64	Ye haue heard the blasphemie: what thinke yee? And they all condemned him to be worthie of death.
14:65	And some began to spit at him, and to couer his face, and to beate him with fists, and to say vnto him, Prophesie. And the sergeants smote him with their roddes.
14:66	And as Peter was beneath in the hal, there came one of the maides of the hie Priest.
14:67	And when shee sawe Peter warming him selfe, shee looked on him, and sayde, Thou wast also with Iesus of Nazareth.
14:68	But he denied it, saying, I knowe him not, neither wot I what thou saiest. Then he went out into the porche, and the cocke crewe.
14:69	Then a maid sawe him againe, and bega to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
14:70	But hee denied it againe: and anon after, they that stoode by, sayde againe to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art of Galile, and thy speach is like.
14:71	And he began to curse, and sweare, saying, I knowe not this man of whom ye speake.
14:72	Then the seconde time the cocke crewe, and Peter remembred the woorde that Iesus had saide vnto him, Before the cocke crowe twise, thou shalt denie me thrise, and waying that with himselfe, he wept.

14:2	But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.
14:3	And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
14:4	And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

14:14	And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
14:15	And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
14:16	And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
14:17	And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.
14:18	And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.
14:19	And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?
14:20	And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.
14:21	The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
14:22	And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
14:23	And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
14:24	And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
14:25	Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
14:26	And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

14:31	But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.
14:32	And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.
14:33	And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
14:34	And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
14:35	And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
14:36	And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
14:37	And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
14:38	Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
14:39	And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.
14:40	And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.
14:41	And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
14:42	Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.
14:43	And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
14:44	And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
14:45	And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.
14:46	And they laid their hands on him, and took him.
14:47	And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
14:48	And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?
14:49	I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
14:50	And they all forsook him, and fled.
14:51	And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:
14:52	And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
14:53	And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
14:54	And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
14:55	And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
14:56	For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
14:57	And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
14:58	We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
14:59	But neither so did their witness agree together.
14:60	And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
14:61	But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
14:62	And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
14:63	Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
14:64	Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
14:65	And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.
14:66	And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
14:67	And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.
14:68	But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
14:69	And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
14:70	And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
14:71	But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
14:72	And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
