15:1	Ða sone on morgen worhten þa heah-sacerdes heore ge-mot. mid ealdren & boceren. & eallen werede & lædden þane halend ge-bunden & sealden hine pilaten.
15:2	Ða axode pilatus hine eart þu iudea kining. Ða andswerede he hym. Ðu hit sægst.
15:3	Þa wreiden hine þa heah-sacerdes. on manegen þingen.
15:4	Eft pilatus hine axode ne andswerest þu nan þing. loca hu mycelen hyo þe wreigeð.
15:5	Ða ne andswerede se hælend him nam mare swa þæt pilatus wundrede.
15:6	On sym-mel-daig wæs his ge-wune. þt he heom for-gefe ænne bundenne swa hwilcne swa hyo bæden.
15:7	Ða bæden hyo barraban. se wæs ge-bunden mid þam replingen. se þurh swice-cræft man-slyht worhten.
15:8	& þa he ferde þa on-gan syo manigeo hine biddan swa hy symle dyden.
15:9	Ða cwæð pilatus. Wille ge þt ic eow for-gefe iudea kyning.
15:10	he wiste þt þurh ande hine sealden þa heah-sacerdas.
15:11	Ða astireden þa biscoppes þa manige þt he heom barraban for-gefe.
15:12	Eft pilatus him andswerede. hwæt do ic be iudea kyninge.
15:13	hyo eft grætten & cwæðen. hoh hine.
15:14	Þa saigde pilatus. hwæt yfeles dyde he. hyo þas þe ma cleopeden ahoh hine.
15:15	Pilatus wolde þa þam folce ge-cwemen. & for-gef heom barraban. & sealde heom þanne hælend be-swungen þt he ahangen wære.
15:16	Þa lædden þa cempen hine on þas domernes cæfertun & hyo to-gædere ealle wered cleopeden.
15:17	& scridden hine mid purpren & him on setten þernene helm awundene.
15:18	& on-gunnen hine þus greten. hal beo þu iudea kyning.
15:19	& beoton hine on þt heafeð mid reode & spetten him on & hire cneow beigden & hine ædmetten.
15:20	Ænd syððen hyo hine bismeredon. un-scriddan hine þam purpran. & scriddan hine mid his reafen. & lædden hine þæt hyo hine ahengen.
15:21	& ge-nedden sumne weig-ferende symonem cyreneum cumende of þam tune alisandres fader & ruffi. þt he his rode bære.
15:22	& hyo lædden hine on þam stowe golgotha. þt is on ure þeode ge-reht heafed-panna stowa.
15:23	& sealden him ge-bytered win & he hit ne on-feng.
15:24	And þa hyo hine ahengen hyo dælden his reaf & hlote wurpen. hwæt ge-hwa name.
15:25	Ða wæs under-tid. & hyo ahengen hine.
15:26	& ofer-ge-writ his geltes wæs awriten iudea kyng.
15:27	& hyo ahengen mid him twegen scaðen ænne on his swiðeren healfe. & oðerne on his winstren.
15:28	þa wæs þt ge-writ ge-fylled þt cwæð. & he wæs mid unriht-wisan ge-teald.
15:29	And þa þe forð-stopen hine gremedon & hyra heafod cwehten. & þus cwæðen. Wala se to-werpð þt tempel. & on ðrim dagen eft ge-tymbred.
15:30	ge-hæl þe sylfne of þare rode stigende.
15:31	Eal swa þa heah-sacerdas bysmeriende be-twexe þam bokeren cwæðen. odre he hæle ge-dyde. hine sylfne he ne maig halne don.
15:32	Crist israele kyng astig nu of rode þt we ge-seon & ge-lefen. And þa þe mid him ahangeden wæren him mid ge-bundene.
15:33	And þare syxte tide wurðe þeostre ge-worðene geond ealle eorðan. odðe non-tide.
15:34	And to non-tide se hælend clepede mycele stefne heloy heloy lama sabathani. þt is on ure ge-þeode. min god min god. hwi for-lædst þu me.
15:35	& sume þe þær abuton stoden & þis ge-hyrdon hyo cwæðen. nu þes clyped heliam.
15:36	þa arn hyre an. & fylde ane spunge mid eisile. & on reod sette & him drincen sealde. & cwæð. læteð þt we ge-seon hwæðer helias cume hine niðer to settenne.
15:37	Se hælend þa asende his stefne & forð-ferde.
15:38	Ænd þas temples wah-irift wæs to-sliten on twa of ufewearden odðe niðeweard.
15:39	Ða þas hundredes man þe þær stod agen ge-seah þt se hælend swa clepiende forð-ferde. he cwæð. Soðlice þes man wæs godes sune.
15:40	And þa wif wæren feorren be-healdende. & betwux þam wæs sie magdalenisce Marie. & Marie iacobes moðer & salomëë.
15:41	& þa he wæs on galilëë hy felgden hym. & him þenoden & manege oðre þe him mide ferden on ierusalem.
15:42	Ænd þa æfen wæs ge-worden þt wæs parasceue. þt is ær sæterdaige
15:43	þa com iosep se æðele refe of arimathia se sylfe godes rice ge-an-bidode. & he dyrstilice in to pilate eode & bæd þas hælendes lichame.
15:44	Þa wundrede pilatus gyf he þa gyt forð-ferde. Ða clypede he þanne hundredes man. & hine axode hwæðer he dead wære.
15:45	Ða he wiste þt. þa agyf he þane lic-hame iosepe.
15:46	Ða bohte iosep ane scytan & hine þær-on be-feold & on byrigenne leigde syo wæs of stane aheawan. & wyltel ænne stan to þare berienne dure.
15:47	Þa com Marie magdalene & Iosepes Marie. & be-heolden hwær he ge-leigd wære.


15:1	And anon in the dawning, the hie Priestes helde a Councill with the Elders, and the Scribes, and the whole Council, and bound Iesus, and led him away, and deliuered him to Pilate.
15:2	Then Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Iewes? And hee answered, and sayde vnto him, Thou sayest it.
15:3	And the hie Priestes accused him of many things.
15:4	Wherefore Pilate asked him againe, saying, Answerest thou nothing? beholde howe many things they witnesse against thee.
15:5	But Iesus answered no more at all, so that Pilate marueiled.
15:6	Nowe at the feast, Pilate did deliuer a prisoner vnto them, whomesoeuer they woulde desire.
15:7	Then there was one named Barabbas, which was bounde with his fellowes, that had made insurrection, who in the insurrection had committed murder.
15:8	And the people cried aloude, and began to desire that he woulde doe as he had euer done vnto them.
15:9	Then Pilate answered them, and said, Will ye that I let loose vnto you the King of ye Iewes?
15:10	For he knewe that the hie Priestes had deliuered him of enuie.
15:11	But the high Priestes had moued the people to desire that he would rather deliuer Barabbas vnto them.
15:12	And Pilate answered, and said againe vnto them, What will ye then that I doe with him, whom ye call the King of the Iewes?
15:13	And they cried againe, Crucifie him.
15:14	Then Pilate said vnto them, But what euill hath he done? And they cryed the more feruently, Crucifie him.
15:15	So Pilate willing to content the people, loosed them Barabbas, and deliuered Iesus, when he had scourged him, that he might be crucified.
15:16	Then the souldiers led him away into the hall, which is the common hall, and called together the whole band,
15:17	And clad him with purple, and platted a crowne of thornes, and put it about his head,
15:18	And began to salute him, saying, Haile, King of the Iewes.
15:19	And they smote him on the head with a reede, and spat vpon him, and bowed the knees, and did him reuerence.
15:20	And whe they had mocked him, they tooke the purple off him, and put his owne clothes on him, and led him out to crucifie him.
15:21	And they compelled one that passed by, called Simon of Cyrene (which came out of the countrey, and was father of Alexander and Rufus) to beare his crosse.
15:22	And they brought him to a place named Golgotha, which is by interpretation, the place of dead mens skulles.
15:23	And they gaue him to drinke wine mingled with myrrhe: but he receiued it not.
15:24	And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots for them, what euery man should haue.
15:25	And it was the third houre, when they crucified him.
15:26	And ye title of his cause was written aboue, THAT KING OF THE JEWES.
15:27	They crucified also with him two theeues, the one on ye right hand, and the other on his left.
15:28	Thus the Scripture was fulfilled, which sayth, And he was counted among the wicked.
15:29	And they that went by, railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Hey, thou that destroyest the Temple, and buildest it in three dayes,
15:30	Saue thy selfe, and come downe from the crosse.
15:31	Likewise also euen the hie Priests mocking, said among themselues with the Scribes, He saued other men, himselfe he cannot saue.
15:32	Let Christ the King of Israel nowe come downe from the crosse, that we may see, and beleeue. They also that were crucified with him, reuiled him.
15:33	Nowe when the sixt houre was come, darkenesse arose ouer all the land vntill the ninth houre.
15:34	And at the ninth houre Iesus cryed with a loude voyce, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lamma-sabachthani? which is by interpretation, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
15:35	And some of them that stoode by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
15:36	And one ranne, and filled a spondge full of vineger, and put it on a reede, and gaue him to drinke, saying, Let him alone: let vs see if Elias will come, and take him downe.
15:37	And Iesus cryed with a loude voyce, and gaue vp the ghost.
15:38	And the vaile of the Temple was rent in twaine, from the toppe to the bottome.
15:39	Nowe when the Centurion, which stoode ouer against him, sawe that he thus crying gaue vp the ghost, he saide, Truely this man was the Sonne of God.
15:40	There were also women, which beheld afarre off, among whom was Marie Magdalene, and Marie (the mother of Iames the lesse, and of Ioses) and Salome,
15:41	Which also when he was in Galile, folowed him, and ministred vnto him, and many other women which came vp with him vnto Hierusalem.
15:42	And nowe when the night was come (because it was the day of the preparation that is before the Sabbath)
15:43	Ioseph of Arimathea, an honorable counsellour, which also looked for the kingdome of God, came, and went in boldly vnto Pilate, and asked the body of Iesus.
15:44	And Pilate marueiled, if he were already dead, and called vnto him the Centurion, and asked of him whether he had bene any while dead.
15:45	And when he knewe the trueth of the Centurion, he gaue the body to Ioseph:
15:46	Who bought a linnen cloth, and tooke him downe, and wrapped him in the linnen cloth, and laide him in a tombe that was hewen out of a rocke, and rolled a stone vnto the doore of the sepulchre:
15:47	And Marie Magdalene, and Marie Ioses mother, behelde where he should be layed.


15:1	And anone in ye dawnynge the hye prestes helde counsell wt ye elders and ye scribes and ye whoole cogregacion and bounde Iesus and ledde him awaye and delivered him to Pilate.
15:2	And Pilate axed him: arte thou the kynge of the Iewes? And he answered and sayde vnto him: thou sayest it.
15:3	And the hye prestes accused him of many thinges.
15:4	Wherfore Pilate axed him agayne sayinge: Answerest thou nothinge? Beholde how many thinges they lay vnto thy charge.
15:5	Iesus yet answered never aworde so that Pilate merveled.
15:6	At that feast Pilate was wont to delivre at their pleasure a presoner: whomsoever they wolde desyre.
15:7	And ther was one named Barrabas which laye bounde with the that made insurreccion and in the insurreccion comitted murther.
15:8	And ye people called vnto him and began to desyre accordinge as he had ever done vnto them.
15:9	Pylate answered them and sayd: Will ye that I lowse vnto you the kynge of the Iewes?
15:10	For he knewe that the hye Prestes had delyvered him of envy.
15:11	But the hye prestes had moved the people that he shuld rather delyvre Barrabas vnto them.
15:12	And Pylate answered agayne and sayd vnto the: What will ye then that I do wt him whom ye call ye kynge of ye Iewes?
15:13	And they cryed agayne: crucifie him.
15:14	Pylate sayde vnto them: What evell hath he done? And they cryed ye moore fervently: crucifie him.
15:15	And so Pylate willinge to content the people lowsed them Barrabas and delyvered Iesus when he had scourged him for to be crucified.
15:16	And the souddeers ledde him awaye into ye commen hall and called togedder the whoole multitude
15:17	and they clothed him with purple and they platted a croune of thornes and crouned him with all
15:18	and beganne to salute him. Hayle kynge of the Iewes.
15:19	And they smoote him on the heed wt a rede and spat apon him and kneled doune and worsheped him.
15:20	And when they had moocked him they toke the purple of him and put his awne cloothes on him and ledde him oute to crucifie him.
15:21	And they compelled one that passed by called Symon of Cyrene (which cam oute of the felde and was father of Alexander and Rufus) to beare his crosse.
15:22	And they brought him to a place named Golgotha (which is by interpretacion the place of deed mens scoulles)
15:23	and they gave him to drinke wyne myngled with myrte but he receaved it not.
15:24	And when they had crucified him they parted his garmentes castinge loottes for them what every man shulde have.
15:25	And it was aboute ye thyrde houre and they crucified him.
15:26	And the tytle of his cause was wrytten: The kynge of the Iewes.
15:27	And they crucified with him two theves: the one on the ryght honde and the other on his lyfte.
15:28	And the scripture was fulfilled which sayeth: he was counted amonge the wicked.
15:29	And they that went by rayled on him: waggynge their heedes and sayinge: A wretche that destroyest the temple and byldest it in thre dayes:
15:30	save thy sylfe and come doune from the crosse.
15:31	Lyke wyse also mocked him ye hye preestes amonge them selves with the scribes and sayde: He saved other men him sylfe he cannot save.
15:32	Let Christ the kynge of Israel now descende from the crosse that we maye se and beleve. And they that were crucified with him checked him also.
15:33	And when the sixte houre was come darknes aroose over all the erth vntyll ye nynthe houre.
15:34	And at the nynthe houre Iesus cryed with a loude voyce sayinge: Eloi Eloi lamaasbathani which is yf it be interpreted: my God my God why hast thou forsaken me?
15:35	And some of them that stode by when they hearde yt sayde: beholde he calleth for Helyas
15:36	And one ran and filled a sponge full of veneger and put it on a rede and gave him to drinke sayinge: let him alone let vs se whether Helyas will come and take him doune.
15:37	But Iesus cryed with aloude voyce and gave vp the gooste.
15:38	And the vayle of the temple dyd rent in two peces from the toppe to the boottome.
15:39	And when the Centurion which stode before him sawe that he so cryed and gave vp the gooste he sayd: truly this man was the sonne of God.
15:40	Ther were also wemen a good waye of beholdinge him: amonge whom was Mary Magdalen and Mary the mother of Iames the lytle and of Ioses and Mary Salome
15:41	which also when he was in Galile folowed him and ministred vnto him and many other wemen which came vp with him to Hierusalem.
15:42	And now when nyght was come (because it was ye even that goeth before ye saboth)
15:43	Ioseph of Arimathia a noble councelour which also loked for ye kyngdome of God came and went in booldly vnto Pylate and begged ye boddy of Iesu.
15:44	And Pylate merveled that he was alredy deed and called vnto him ye Centurion and axed of him whether he had bene eny whyle deed.
15:45	And when he knewe the trueth of the Centurion he gave ye body to Ioseph.
15:46	And he bought a lynnen cloothe and toke him doune and wrapped him in ye lynnen cloothe and layde him in a tombe yt was hewen oute of ye rocke and rolled a stone vnto the doze of the sepulcre.
15:47	And Mary Magdalen and Mary Ioses beheld where he was layde.
