| 7:1 | Now when hee had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, hee entred into Capernaum. |
| 7:2 | And a certaine Centurions seruant, who was deare vnto him, was sicke and ready to die. |
| 7:3 | And when he heard of Iesus, he sent vnto him the Elders of the Iewes, beseeching him that he would come and heale his seruant. |
| 7:4 | And when they came to Iesus, they besought him instantly, saying, that hee was worthy for whome hee should doe this. |
| 7:5 | For he loueth our nation, and hee hath built vs a Synagogue. |
| 7:6 | Then Iesus went with them. And when he was now not farre from the house, the Centurion sent friends to him, saying vnto him, Lord, trouble not thy selfe: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter vnder my roofe. |
| 7:7 | Wherefore neither thought I my selfe worthy to come vnto thee: but say in a worde, and my seruant shall bee healed. |
| 7:8 | For I also am a man set vnder authoritie, hauing vnder mee souldiers: and I say vnto one, Goe, and he goeth: and to another, Come, and hee commeth: and to my seruant, Doe this, and he doeth it. |
| 7:9 | When Iesus heard these things, hee marueiled at him, and turned him about, and saide vnto the people that followed him, I say vnto you, I haue not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. |
| 7:10 | And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the seruant whole that had bene sicke. |
| 7:11 | And it came to passe the day after, that he went into a citie called Naim: and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. |
| 7:12 | Now when he came nigh to the gate of the citie, behold, there was a dead man caried out, the onely sonne of his mother, and shee was a widow: and much people of the citie was with her. |
| 7:13 | And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and saide vnto her, Weepe not. |
| 7:14 | And hee came and touched the beere (and they that bare him, stood still.) And he said, Yong man, I say vnto thee, Arise. |
| 7:15 | And he that was dead, sate vp, and began to speake: and he deliuered him to his mother. |
| 7:16 | And there came a feare on all, and they glorified God, saying, that a great Prophet is risen vp among vs, and that God hath visited his people. |
| 7:17 | And this rumour of him went foorth throughout all Iudea, and throughout all the region round about. |
| 7:18 | And the disciples of Iohn shewed him of all these things. |
| 7:19 | And Iohn calling vnto him two of his disciples, sent them to Iesus, saying, Art thou hee that should come, or looke we for another? |
| 7:20 | When the men were come vnto him, they said, Iohn Baptist hath sent vs vnto thee, saying, Art thou hee that should come, or looke we for another? |
| 7:21 | And in that same houre hee cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of euill spirits, and vnto many that were blind, he gaue sight. |
| 7:22 | Then Iesus answering, said vnto them, Go your way, and tell Iohn what things ye haue seene and heard, how that the blind see, the lame walke, the lepers are clensed, the deafe heare, the dead are raised, to the poore the Gospel is preached. |
| 7:23 | And blessed is he whosoeuer shall not be offended in me. |
| 7:24 | And when the messengers of Iohn were departed, hee beganne to speake vnto ye people concerning Iohn: What went ye out into the wildernesse for to see? A reede shaken with the winde? |
| 7:25 | But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and liue delicately, are in kings courts. |
| 7:26 | But what went ye out for to see? A Prophet? Yea, I say vnto you, and much more then a Prophet. |
| 7:27 | This is he of whome it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. |
| 7:28 | For I say vnto you, among those that are borne of women, there is not a greater Prophet then Iohn the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdome of God, is greater then he. |
| 7:29 | And all the people that heard him, and the Publicanes, iustified God, being baptized with the baptisme of Iohn. |
| 7:30 | But the Pharisees and Lawyers reiected the counsell of God against themselues, being not baptized of him. |
| 7:31 | And the Lord said, whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? |
| 7:32 | They are like vnto children sitting in the market place, & calling one to another, and saying, We haue piped vnto you, and ye haue not danced: wee haue mourned to you, and yee haue not wept. |
| 7:33 | For Iohn the Baptist came, neither eating bread, nor drinking wine, and ye say, He hath a deuill. |
| 7:34 | The sonne of man is come, eating, and drinking, and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a wine bibber, a friend of Publicanes and sinners. |
| 7:35 | But wisedome is iustified of all her children. |
| 7:36 | And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisees house, and sate downe to meat. |
| 7:37 | And behold, a woman in the citie which was a sinner, when shee knew that Iesus sate at meat in the Pharisees house, brought an Alabaster boxe of ointment, |
| 7:38 | And stood at his feet behind him, weeping, and began to wash his feete with teares, and did wipe them with the haires of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the oyntment. |
| 7:39 | Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him, saw it, he spake within himselfe, saying, This man, if he were a Prophet, would haue knowen who, and what maner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner. |
| 7:40 | And Iesus answering, said vnto him, Simon, I haue somewhat to say vnto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. |
| 7:41 | There was a certaine creditour, which had two debtors: the one ought fiue hundred pence, and the other fiftie. |
| 7:42 | And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgaue them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will loue him most? |
| 7:43 | Simon answered, and saide, I suppose, that hee to whome he forgaue most. And he said vnto him, Thou hast rightly iudged. |
| 7:44 | And hee turned to the woman, and said vnto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entred into thine house, thou gauest me no water for my feete: but shee hath washed my feete with teares, and wiped them with the haires of her head. |
| 7:45 | Thou gauest me no kisse: but this woman, since the time I came in, hath not ceased to kisse my feet. |
| 7:46 | Mine head with oile thou didst not anoint: but this woman anointed my feet with oyntment. |
| 7:47 | Wherefore, I say vnto thee, her sinnes, which are many, are forgiuen, for she loued much: but to whom litle is forgiuen, the same loueth litle. |
| 7:48 | And he said vnto her, Thy sinnes are forgiuen. |
| 7:49 | And they that sate at meat with him, began to say within themselues, Who is this that forgiueth sinnes also? |
| 7:50 | And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saued thee, goe in peace. |

| 7:3 | Wha he herde of Iesus, he sent the elders of the Iewes vnto him, and prayed him, that he wolde come, and make his seruaunt whole. |
| 7:4 | But wha they came to Iesus, they besought him instantly, & sayde: He is worthy yt thou shuldest shewe this for him, |
| 7:5 | for he loueth oure people, & hath buylded vs ye synagoge. |
| 7:6 | And Iesus wente wt them.Now whan they were not farre from ye house, ye captaine sent fredes vnto hi, saiege vnto him: Oh LORDE, trouble not thy self, I am not worthy, yt thou shuldest enter vnder my rofe, |
| 7:7 | and therfore I thought not my self worthy to come to ye: but speake ye worde, & my seruaut shalbe whole. |
| 7:8 | For I my self also am a ma, subiecte to the hygher auctorite, & haue soudyers vnder me. And I saye vnto one: Go, & he goeth. And to another: Come, & he cometh. And to my seruaut: Do this, & he doeth it. |
| 7:9 | Whan Iesus herde yt, he marueyled at hi, & turned him aboute, & sayde vnto ye people yt folowed hi: I saye vnto you: So greate faith haue I not founde, no not in Israel. |
| 7:10 | And wha they that were sent, came home agayne, they founde the seruaut that was sicke, whole. |
| 7:11 | And it fortuned afterwarde, that he wete in to a cite called Naim, and many of his disciples wente with him, and moch people. |
| 7:12 | Whan he came nye to the gate of the cite, beholde, there was caried out one deed, which was the onely sonne of his mother, and she was a wyddowe, and moch people of the cite wente with her. |
| 7:13 | And whan the LORDE sawe her, he had copassion on her, and sayde vnto her: Wepe not. |
| 7:14 | And he came nye, and touched the Coffyn. And they that bare him, stode styll. And he sayde: Yonge man, I saye vnto the: Aryse. |
| 7:15 | And the deed sat vp, and beganne to speake. And he delyuered him vnto his mother. |
| 7:16 | And there came a feare on them all, and they praysed God, and sayde: A greate prophet is rysen amonge vs, and God hath vysited his people. |
| 7:17 | And this fame of him was noysed in all Iewry, and in all ye regions that laye rounde aboute. |
| 7:18 | And the disciples of Iho shewed him of all these thinges. |
| 7:19 | And Ihon called vnto him two of his disciples, and sent the vnto Iesus sayenge: Art thou he that shal come, or shal we loke for another? |
| 7:20 | Whan the men came to him, they sayde: Ihon ye baptist hath sent vs vnto the, sayenge: Art thou he that shal come, or shal we loke for another? |
| 7:21 | At the same houre healed he many from sicknesses & plages, and fro euell spretes, and vnto many that were blynde, he gaue sight. |
| 7:22 | And Iesus answered, & sayde vnto the: Go yor waye, shewe Ihon, what ye haue sene & herde. The blynde se, the halt go, the lepers are clensed, the deaf heare, the deed aryse, the Gospell is preached vnto ye poore, |
| 7:23 | and blessed is he, that is not offended at me. |
| 7:24 | Whan the messaungers of Iho were departed, Iesus begane to speake vnto ye people cocernynge Iho: What are ye gone out for to se in ye wyldernesse? Wolde ye se a rede, that is shake wt the wynde? |
| 7:25 | Or what are ye gone out for to se? Wolde ye se a ma clothed in soft rayment? Beholde, they that are gorgiously arayed, & lyue delycately, are in kynges courtes. |
| 7:26 | Or what are ye gone out for to se? Wolde ye se a prophet? Yee I saye vnto you: one that is more the a prophet. |
| 7:27 | This is he, of whom it is wrytten: Beholde, I sende my messaunger before yi face, which shal prepare thy waye before the. |
| 7:28 | For I saye vnto you: Amonge the yt are borne of weme, there is no greater prophet the Ihon the baptist. Notwith stondynge he that is lesse in the kyngdome of God, is greater then he. |
| 7:29 | And all the people that herde him, and ye publicans, iustified God, and were baptysed with the baptyme of Ihon. |
| 7:30 | But the Pharises and scrybes despysed ye councell of God against theselues, & were not baptised of hi. |
| 7:31 | But the LORDE saide: Where vnto shal I licken the men of this generacion? And whom are they like? |
| 7:32 | They are like vnto childre which syt in the market, and crye one to another, and saye: We haue pyped vnto you, and ye haue not daunsed: we haue mourned vnto you, & ye haue not wepte. |
| 7:33 | For Ihon ye baptist came, and ate no bred, and drake no wyne, and ye saye: he hath ye deuell. |
| 7:34 | The sonne of man is come, eateth and drynketh, & ye saye: This man is a glutton and a wyne bebber, a frende of publicans and synners. |
| 7:35 | And wyssdome is iustified of all hir children. |
| 7:36 | And one of the Pharises desyred him, yt he wolde eate with him. And he wente in to the Pharises house, and sat him downe at ye table. |
| 7:37 | And beholde, there was in the cite a woma, which was a synner. Whe she knewe that Iesus sat at the table in the Pharises house, she brought a boxe with oyntment, |
| 7:38 | & stode behynde at his fete, and wepte, and beganne to water his fete with teares, and to drye the wt the hayres of hir heade, and kyssed his fete, & anoynted the with oyntmet. |
| 7:39 | But whan the Pharise which had called him sawe that, he spake within himself, and sayde: Yf this ma were a prophet, he wolde knowe who, & what maner of woman this is that toucheth him, for she is a synner. |
| 7:40 | And Iesus answered, and saide vnto him: Simo, I haue somewhat to saye vnto the. He sayde: Master saye on. |
| 7:41 | A certayne lender had two detters, the one ought fyue hundreth pens, the other fiftie: |
| 7:42 | but whan they had nothinge to paye, he forgaue the both. Tell me which of them wyl loue him most? |
| 7:43 | Symon answered, and sayde: He, (I suppose) to who he forgaue most. Then sayde he vnto him: Thou hast iudged right. |
| 7:44 | And he turned him to the woman, and sayde vnto Symo: Seist thou this woma? I am come in to thine house, thou hast geue me no water vnto my fete, but she hath watred my fete with teares, and dryed the wt the hayres of hir heade: |
| 7:45 | Thou hast geue me no kysse, but she (sens the tyme she came in) hath not ceassed to kysse my fete: |
| 7:46 | Thou hast not anointed my heade wt oyle, but she hath anoynted my heade with oyntment. |
| 7:47 | Therfore I saye vnto the: Many synnes are forgeuen her, for she hath loued moch. But vnto whom lesse is forgeuen, the same loueth the lesse. |
| 7:48 | And he sayde vnto her: Thy synnes are forgeuen the. |
| 7:49 | Then they that sat at the table with him, beganne to saye within them selues: What is he this, that forgeueth synnes also? |
| 7:50 | But he sayde vnto the woman: Thy faith hath saued the, Go thy waye in peace. |

| 7:2 | But a seruaunt of a centurien, that was precious to hym, was sijk, and drawynge to the deeth. |

| 7:4 | And whanne thei camen to Jhesu, thei preieden hym bisili, and seiden to hym, For he is worthi, that thou graunte to hym this thing; |
| 7:5 | for he loueth oure folk, and he bildide to vs a synagoge. |
| 7:6 | And Jhesus wente with hem. And whanne he was not fer fro the hous, the centurien sente to hym freendis, and seide, Lord, nyle thou be trauelid, for Y am not worthi, that thou entre vnder my roof; |
| 7:7 | for which thing and Y demede not my silf worthi, that Y come to thee; but seie thou bi word, and my child schal be helid. |
| 7:8 | For Y am a man ordeyned vndur power, and haue knyytis vndur me; and Y seie to this, Go, and he goith, and to anothir, Come, and he cometh, and to my seruaunt, Do this thing, and he doith. |
| 7:9 | And whanne this thing was herd, Jhesus wondride; and seide to the puple suynge hym, Treuli Y seie to you, nether in Israel Y foond so greet feith. |
| 7:10 | And thei that weren sent, turneden ayen home, and founden the seruaunt hool, which was sijk. |
| 7:11 | And it was don aftirward, Jhesus wente in to a citee, that is clepid Naym, and hise disciplis; and ful greet puple wente with hym. |
| 7:12 | And whanne he cam nyy to the yate of the citee, lo! the sone of a womman that hadde no mo children, was borun out deed; and this was a widowe; and myche puple of the citee with hir. |
| 7:13 | And whanne the Lord Jhesu hadde seyn hir, he hadde reuthe on hir, and seide to hir, Nyle thou wepe. |
| 7:14 | And he cam nyy, and touchide the beere; and thei that baren stoden. And he seide, Yonge man, Y seie to thee, rise vp. |
| 7:15 | And he that was deed sat vp ayen, and bigan to speke; and he yaf hym to his modir. |
| 7:16 | And drede took alle men, and thei magnyfieden God, and seiden, For a grete profete is rysun among vs, and, For God hath visitid his puple. |

| 7:18 | And Joones disciplis toolden hym of alle these thingis. |
| 7:19 | And Joon clepide tweyn of hise disciplis, and sente hem to Jhesu, and seide, Art thou he that is to come, or abiden we anothir? |
| 7:20 | And whanne the men cam to hym, thei seiden, Joon Baptist sente vs to thee, and seide, Art thou he that is to come, or we abiden anothir? |
| 7:21 | And in that our he heelide many men of her sijknessis, and woundis, and yuel spiritis; and he yaf siyt to many blynde men. |
| 7:22 | And Jhesus answerde, and seide to hem, Go ye ayen, and telle ye to Joon tho thingis that ye han herd and seyn; blynde men seyn, crokid men goen, mesels ben maad cleene, deef men heren, deed men risen ayen, pore men ben takun to prechyng of the gospel. |
| 7:23 | And he that schal not be sclaundrid in me, is blessid. |
| 7:24 | And whanne the messangeris of Joon weren go forth, he bigan to seie of Joon to the puple, |
| 7:25 | What wenten ye out in to desert to se? a reed waggid with the wynd? |
| 7:26 | But what wenten ye out to se? a man clothid with softe clothis? Lo! thei that ben in precious cloth and in delicis, ben in kyngis housis. But what wenten ye out to se? a profete? Yhe, Y seie to you, and more than a profete. |
| 7:27 | This is he, of whom it is writun, Lo! Y sende myn aungel bifor thi face, which schal make `thi weie redi bifor thee. |
| 7:28 | Certis Y seie to you, there is no man more prophete among children of wymmen, than is Joon; but he that is lesse in the kyngdom of heuenes, is more than he. |
| 7:29 | And al the puple herynge, and pupplicans, that hadden be baptisid with baptym of Joon, iustifieden God; |
| 7:30 | but the Farisees and the wise men of the lawe, that weren not baptisid of hym, dispisiden the counsel of God ayens hem silf. |
| 7:31 | And the Lord seide, Therfor to whom schal Y seie `men of this generacioun lijk, and to whom ben thei lijk? |
| 7:32 | Thei ben lijk to children sittynge in chepyng, and spekynge togider, and seiynge, We han sungun to you with pipis, and ye han not daunsid; we han maad mornyng, and ye han not wept. |
| 7:33 | For Joon Baptist cam, nethir etynge breed, ne drynkynge wyne, and ye seyen, He hath a feend. |
| 7:34 | Mannus sone cam etynge and drynkynge, and ye seien, Lo! a man a deuourer, and drynkynge wyne, a frend of pupplicans and of synful men. |
| 7:35 | And wisdom is iustified of her sones. |
| 7:36 | But oon of the Farisees preiede Jhesu, that he schulde ete with hym. And he entride in to the hous of the Farise, and sat at the mete. |
| 7:37 | And lo! a synful womman, that was in the citee, as sche knewe, that Jhesu sat at the mete in the hous of the Farisee, sche brouyte an alabaustre box of oynement; |
| 7:38 | and sche stood bihynde bysidis hise feet, and bigan to moiste hise feet with teeris, and wipide with the heeris of hir heed, and kiste hise feet, and anoyntide with oynement. |
| 7:39 | And the Farise seynge, that hadde clepide hym, seide within hym silf, seiynge, If this were a prophete, he schulde wite, who and what maner womman it were that touchith hym, for sche is a synful womman. |
| 7:40 | And Jhesus answeride, and seide to hym, Symount, Y haue sumthing to seie to thee. And he seide, Maistir, seie thou. |
| 7:41 | And he answeride, Twei dettouris weren to o lener; and oon auyt fyue hundrid pans, and `the other fifti; |
| 7:42 | but whanne thei hadden not wherof `thei schulden yeelde, he foryaf to bothe. Who thanne loueth hym more? |
| 7:43 | Symount answeride, and seide, Y gesse, that he to whom he foryaf more. And he answeride to hym, Thou hast demyd riytli. |
| 7:44 | And he turnede to the womman, and seide to Symount, Seest thou this womman? I entride into thin hous, thou yaf no watir to my feet; but this hath moistid my feet with teeris, and wipide with hir heeris. |
| 7:45 | Thou hast not youun to me a cosse; but this, sithen sche entride, ceesside not to kisse my feet. |
| 7:46 | Thou anoyntidist not myn heed with oile; but this anoyntide my feet with oynement. |
| 7:47 | For the which thing Y seie to thee, many synnes ben foryouun to hir, for sche hath loued myche; and to whom is lesse foryouun, he loueth lesse. |
| 7:48 | And Jhesus seide to hir, Thi synnes ben foryouun to thee. |
| 7:49 | And thei that saten to gider at the mete, bigunnen to seie with ynne hem silf, Who is this that foryyueth synnes. |
