Luke - Chapter: 8

>
8:1And it came to pass thereafter, that he was going through every city and village, preaching and proclaiming good news of the reign of God, and the twelve `are' with him,
8:2and certain women, who were healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary who is called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone forth,
8:3and Joanna wife of Chuza, steward of Herod, and Susanna, and many others, who were ministering to him from their substance.
8:4And a great multitude having gathered, and those who from city and city were coming unto him, he spake by a simile:
8:5`The sower went forth to sow his seed, and in his sowing some indeed fell beside the way, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the heaven did devour it.
8:6`And other fell upon the rock, and having sprung up, it did wither, through not having moisture.
8:7`And other fell amidst the thorns, and the thorns having sprung up with it, did choke it.
8:8`And other fell upon the good ground, and having sprung up, it made fruit an hundred fold.' These things saying, he was calling, `He having ears to hear -- let him hear.'
8:9And his disciples were questioning him, saying, `What may this simile be?'
8:10And he said, `To you it hath been given to know the secrets of the reign of God, and to the rest in similes; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.
8:11`And this is the simile: The seed is the word of God,
8:12and those beside the way are those hearing, then cometh the Devil, and taketh up the word from their heart, lest having believed, they may be saved.
8:13`And those upon the rock: They who, when they may hear, with joy do receive the word, and these have no root, who for a time believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
8:14`And that which fell to the thorns: These are they who have heard, and going forth, through anxieties, and riches, and pleasures of life, are choked, and bear not to completion.
8:15`And that in the good ground: These are they, who in an upright and good heart, having heard the word, do retain `it', and bear fruit in continuance.
8:16`And no one having lighted a lamp doth cover it with a vessel, or under a couch doth put `it'; but upon a lamp-stand he doth put `it', that those coming in may see the light,
8:17for nothing is secret, that shall not become manifest, nor hid, that shall not be known, and become manifest.
8:18`See, therefore, how ye hear, for whoever may have, there shall be given to him, and whoever may not have, also what he seemeth to have, shall be taken from him.'
8:19And there came unto him his mother and brethren, and they were not able to get to him because of the multitude,
8:20and it was told him, saying, `Thy mother and thy brethren do stand without, wishing to see thee;'
8:21and he answering said unto them, `My mother and my brethren! they are those who the word of God are hearing, and doing.'
8:22And it came to pass, on one of the days, that he himself went into a boat with his disciples, and he said unto them, `We may go over to the other side of the lake;' and they set forth,
8:23and as they are sailing he fell deeply asleep, and there came down a storm of wind to the lake, and they were filling, and were in peril.
8:24And having come near, they awoke him, saying, `Master, master, we perish;' and he, having arisen, rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and there came a calm,
8:25and he said to them, `Where is your faith?' and they being afraid did wonder, saying unto one another, `Who, then, is this, that even the winds he doth command, and the water, and they obey him?'
8:26And they sailed down to the region of the Gadarenes, that is over-against Galilee,
8:27and he having gone forth upon the land, there met him a certain man, out of the city, who had demons for a long time, and with a garment was not clothed, and in a house was not abiding, but in the tombs,
8:28and having seen Jesus, and having cried out, he fell before him, and with a loud voice, said, `What -- to me and to thee, Jesus, Son of God Most High? I beseech thee, mayest thou not afflict me!'
8:29For he commanded the unclean spirit to come forth from the man, for many times it had caught him, and he was being bound with chains and fetters -- guarded, and breaking asunder the bonds he was driven by the demons to the deserts.
8:30And Jesus questioned him, saying, `What is thy name?' and he said, `Legion,' (because many demons were entered into him,)
8:31and he was calling on him, that he may not command them to go away to the abyss,
8:32and there was there a herd of many swine feeding in the mountain, and they were calling on him, that he might suffer them to enter into these, and he suffered them,
8:33and the demons having gone forth from the man, did enter into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep to the lake, and were choked.
8:34And those feeding `them', having seen what was come to pass, fled, and having gone, told `it' to the city, and to the fields;
8:35and they came forth to see what was come to pass, and they came unto Jesus, and found the man sitting, out of whom the demons had gone forth, clothed, and right-minded, at the feet of Jesus, and they were afraid;
8:36and those also having seen `it', told them how the demoniac was saved.
8:37And the whole multitude of the region of the Gadarenes round about asked him to go away from them, because with great fear they were pressed, and he having entered into the boat, did turn back.
8:38And the man from whom the demons had gone forth was beseeching of him to be with him, and Jesus sent him away, saying,
8:39`Turn back to thy house, and tell how great things God did to thee;' and he went away through all the city proclaiming how great things Jesus did to him.
8:40And it came to pass, in the turning back of Jesus, the multitude received him, for they were all looking for him,
8:41and lo, there came a man, whose name `is' Jairus, and he was a chief of the synagogue, and having fallen at the feet of Jesus, was calling on him to come to his house;
8:42because he had an only daughter about twelve years `old', and she was dying. And in his going away, the multitudes were thronging him,
8:43and a woman, having an issue of blood for twelve years, who, having spent on physicians all her living, was not able to be healed by any,
8:44having come near behind, touched the fringe of his garment, and presently the issue of her blood stood.
8:45And Jesus said, `Who `is' it that touched me?' and all denying, Peter and those with him said, `Master, the multitudes press thee, and throng `thee', and thou dost say, Who `is' it that touched me!'
8:46And Jesus said, `Some one did touch me, for I knew power having gone forth from me.'
8:47And the woman, having seen that she was not hid, trembling, came, and having fallen before him, for what cause she touched him declared to him before all the people, and how she was healed presently;
8:48and he said to her, `Take courage, daughter, thy faith hath saved thee, be going on to peace.'
8:49While he is yet speaking, there doth come a certain one from the chief of the synagogue's `house', saying to him -- `Thy daughter hath died, harass not the Teacher;'
8:50and Jesus having heard, answered him, saying, `Be not afraid, only believe, and she shall be saved.'
8:51And having come to the house, he suffered no one to go in, except Peter, and James, and John, and the father of the child, and the mother;
8:52and they were all weeping, and beating themselves for her, and he said, `Weep not, she did not die, but doth sleep;
8:53and they were deriding him, knowing that she did die;
8:54and he having put all forth without, and having taken hold of her hand, called, saying, `Child, arise;'
8:55and her spirit came back, and she arose presently, and he directed that there be given to her to eat;
8:56and her parents were amazed, but he charged them to say to no one what was come to pass.

8:1And it fortuned after that that he him sylfe went throughout cities and tounes preachynge and shewinge ye kyngdom of God and the twelve with him.
8:2And also certayne wemen which wer healed of evell spretes and infirmities: Mary called Magdalen out of whom went seven devyls
8:3and Ioanna ye wyfe of Chusa Herodees stewarde and Susanna and many other: which ministred vnto the of their substaunce.
8:4When moch people were gadred to gether and were come to him out of all cities he spake by a similitude.
8:5A sower went out to sowe his seede: and as he sowed some fell by the waye syde and it was troden vnder fete and the foules of the ayre devoured it vp.
8:6And some fell on ston and assone as it was spronge vp it widdred awaye because it lacked moystnes.
8:7And some fell amonge thornes and ye thornes spronge vp with it and choked it.
8:8And some fell on good grounde and sproge vp and bare frute an hondred foolde. And as he sayde these thinges he cryed: He that hath eares to heare let him heare.
8:9 And his disciples axed him sayinge: what maner similitude is this?
8:10And he sayde: Vnto you it is geue, to knowe the mysteryes of the kyngdome of God, but vnto the other in parables, yt though they se it, they shulde not se it, and though they heare it, they shulde not vnderstonde.
8:11The similitude is this. The seede is ye worde of God.
8:12Thoose yt are besyde the waye are they that heare and afterwarde cometh ye devyll and taketh awaye the worde out of their hertes lest they shuld beleve and be saved.
8:13They on the stonnes are they which when they heare receave the worde with ioye. But these have noo rootes which for a whyle beleve and in tyme of temtacio goo awaye.
8:14And yt which fell amonge thornes are they which heare and goo forth and are choked wt cares and wt riches and volupteous lyvinge and bringe forth noo frute.
8:15That in ye good grounde are they which with a good and pure hert heare the worde and kepe it and bringe forth frute with pacience.
8:16 No man lyghteth a candell and covereth it vnder a vessell nether putteth it vnder ye table: but setteth it on a candelsticke that they that enter in maye se ye lyght.
8:17No thinge is in secret yt shall not come abroode: Nether eny thinge hyd that shall not be knowen and come to lyght.
8:18Take hede therfore how ye heare. For whosoever hath to him shalbe geve: And whosoever hath not fro him shalbe take even that same which he supposeth that he hath.
8:19Then came to him his mother and his brethren and coulde not come at him for prease.
8:20And they tolde him sayinge: Thy mother and thy brethren stonde with out and wolde se the.
8:21He answered and sayd vnto them: my mother and my brethren are these which heare the worde of God and do it.
8:22 And it chaunsed on a certayne daye that he went into a shippe and his disciples also and he sayde vnto them: Let vs goo over vnto the other syde of the lake. And they Lanched forthe.
8:23And as they sayled he fell a slepe and there arose a storme of wynde in ye lake and they were fylled with water and were in ieopardy.
8:24And they went to him and awoke him sayinge: Master Master we are loost. Then he arose and rebuked the wynde and the tempest of water and they ceased and it wexed calme.
8:25And he sayd vnto the: where is youre faith? They feared and wondred sayinge one to another: what felowe is this? for he comaundeth bothe the wyndes and water and they obey him?
8:26And they sayled vnto the region of ye Gaderenites which is over agaynst Galile.
8:27And as he went out to londe ther met him a certayne man out of ye cite which had a devyll longe tyme and ware noo clothes nether aboode in eny housse: but amonge graves.
8:28When he sawe Iesus he cryed and fell doune before him and with a loude voyce sayde: What have I to do with the Iesus the sonne of the God moost hyest? I beseche the torment me not.
8:29Then he comaunded ye foule sprete to come out of the man. For ofte tymes he caught him and he was bounde with chaynes and kept with fetters: and he brake the bondes and was caryed of the fende into wyldernes.
8:30 And Iesus axed him sayinge: what is thy name? And he sayde: Legion because many devyls were entred into him.
8:31And they besought him yt he wolde not comaunde the to goo out into ye depe.
8:32And ther was there by an heerde of many swyne fedynge on an hyll: and they besought him yt he wolde soffre the to enter into the. And he soffred the.
8:33Then went the devyls out of the man and entred into the swyne: And the heerd toke their course and ran heedlynge into the lake and were choked.
8:34When the herdmen sawe what had chaunsed they fleed and tolde it in the cite and in the villages.
8:35And they came out to se what was done: and came to Iesus and founde ye man out of who the devyls were departed sittynge at the fete of Iesus clothed and in his right mynde and they were afrayde.
8:36They also wich sawe it tolde the by what meanes he yt was possessed of ye devyll was healed.
8:37And all the whole multitude of ye cotrye of the Gaderenites besought him yt he wolde departe from the: for they were taken wt greate feare. And he gate him into the shippe and returned backe agayne.
8:38Then the man out of whom the devyls were departed besought him yt he myght be wt him: But Iesus sent him awaye sayinge:
8:39Goo home agayne into thyne awne housse and shewe what great thinges God hath done to ye. And he went his waye and preached thorow out all the cite what great thinges Iesus had done vnto him.
8:40 And it fortuned when Iesus was come agayne that ye people receaved him. For they all wayted for him.
8:41And beholde ther came a man named Iairus (and he was a ruler of ye synagoge) and he fell doune at Iesus fete and besought him yt he wolde come into his housse
8:42for he had but a doughter only apon a twelve yere of age and she laye a dyinge. And as he went the people thronged him.
8:43And a woman havynge an issue of bloud twelve yeres (which had spent all her substance amonge phisicios nether coulde be holpen of eny)
8:44came behinde him and touched the hem of his garmet and immediatly her issue of bloud staunched.
8:45And Iesus sayde: Who is it that touched me? when every man denyed Peter and they yt were with him sayde: Master the people thrust the and vexe the: and sayest thou who touched me?
8:46And Iesus sayd: Some body touched me. For I perceave that vertue is gone out of me.
8:47When the woman sawe that she was not hid she came trimblynge and fell at is fete and tolde him before all the people for what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediatly.
8:48And he sayde vnto hyr: Doughter be of good comforte Thy faith hath made the hoale goo in peace.
8:49 Whyll he yet spake there came one from ye rulers of the synagogis housse which sayde to him: thy doughter is deed disease not the master.
8:50When Iesus hearde that He answered the father sayinge: Feare not beleve only and she shalbe made whole.
8:51And when he came to ye housse he suffred no man to goo in with him save Peter Iames and Iohn and the father and the mother of the mayden.
8:52Every body weept and sorowed for her. And he sayde: Wepe not: for she is not deed but slepeth.
8:53And they lewgh him to scorne. For they knew that she was deed.
8:54And he thrust the all out and caught her by the honde and cryed sayinge: Mayde aryse.
8:55And hyr sprete came agayne and she roose strayght waye. And he commaunded to geve her meate.
8:56And the father and the mother of hyr were astonyed. But he warned the that they shuld tell noo man what was done.

8:1And it fortuned afterwarde, that he wente thorow the cities and townes, and preached, and shewed ye Gospell of the kyngdome of God, and the twolue wt him.
8:2And certayne wemen also, who he had healed fro euell spretes and infirmities: Namely, Mary which is called Magdalene, out of whom wente seuen deuels,
8:3and Ioanna ye wife of Chusa Herodes stewarde, and Susanna, and many other, that mynistred vnto them of their substaunce.
8:4Now wha moch people were gathered together, and haisted vnto him out of the cities, He spake by a symilitude:
8:5There wente out a sower to sowe his sede, & whyle he was sowynge, some fell by the waye syde, and was trodde vnder fote, and the foules of the ayre ate it vp.
8:6And some fell on stone, and whan it was spronge vp, it wythred awaye, because it had no moystnesse.
8:7And some fell amonge thornes, and the thornes sprange vp with it, and choked it.
8:8And some fell vpo a good grounde, and sprange vp, and bare frute an hundreth folde. Wha he sayde this he cryed: Who so hath eares to heare, let him heare.
8:9And his disciples axed him, and sayde: What symilitude is this?
8:10And he sayd, Vnto you it is giuen to know the secrets of ye kingdome of God, but to other in parables, that when they see, they shoulde not see, and when they heare, they should not vnderstand.
8:11This is the parable: The sede is the worde of God:
8:12As for those that are by ye waye syde, they are they that heare it, afterwarde commeth the deuell, and taketh awaye the worde out of their hertes, that they shulde not beleue, and be saued.
8:13But they on ye stone, are soch as whan they heare it, receaue the worde with ioye, and these haue no rote: they beleue for a whyle, and in the tyme of temptacion they fall awaye.
8:14As for it that fel amonge the thornes, are soch as heare it, and go forth amonge the cares, riches and volupteousnesses of this life, and are choked and brynge forth no frute.
8:15But that on the good grounde, are they that heare the worde, and kepe it in a pure good hert, and brynge forth frute in pacience.
8:16No man lighteth a cadell, and couereth it with a vessell, or putteth it vnder a table, but setteth it vpon a candelsticke, that soch as go in maye se light.
8:17For there is nothinge hyd, that shal not be openly shewed: and there is nothinge secrete, that shal not be knowne, and come to light.
8:18Take hede therfore how ye heare. For who so hath, vnto him shalbe geue: but who so hath not, from him shalbe taken awaye, eue the same that he thynketh to haue.
8:19There wente vnto him his mother and his brethren, and coude not come at him for the people.
8:20And it was tolde him. Thy mother and thy brethren stonde without, and wolde se the.
8:21But he answered, & sayde vnto the: My mother and my brethren are these, which heare the worde of God, and do it.
8:22And it fortuned vpon a certayne daye, yt he wente in to a shippe, and his disciples wt him, & he sayde vnto the: Let vs passe ouer to the other syde of ye lake. And they thurst of fro the lode.
8:23And as they sayled, he slepte. And there came a storme of wynde vpon ye lake, and the wawes fell vpon the, and they stode in greate ioperdy.
8:24Then wete they vnto him, and waked him vp, & sayde: Master master, we perishe. Then he arose, and rebuked the wynde, and the tepest of water, and they ceassed, and it waxed calme.
8:25But he sayde vnto the: Where is youre faith? Neuertheles they were afrayed, and wodred, and sayde one to another: What is he this? For he comaundeth the wyndes and the water, and they are obedient vnto him.
8:26And they sayled forth in to the countre of the Gadarenites, which is ouer agaynst Galile.
8:27And whan he wente out to londe, there met him out of ye cite a ma, which had a deuell longe tyme, & ware no clothes, & taried in no house, but in the graues.
8:28Neuertheles wha he sawe Iesus, he cried, and fell downe before him, and cried loude, & sayde: What haue I to do with the Iesus, thou sonne of the Hyest God? I beseke the, that thou wilt not tormete me.
8:29For he comaunded the foule sprete, that he shulde departe out of the ma, for he had plaged hi a loge season. And he was bounde with cheynes, and kepte wt fetters, and he brake the bondes in sonder, and was caried of the deuell in to the wyldernesse.
8:30And Iesus axed him, and sayde: What is thy name? He sayde: Legion. For there were many deuels entred in to him.
8:31And they besought him, that he wolde not comaunde the to go in to the depe.
8:32But there was there a greate heerd of swyne fedynge vpon the mountayne, and they besought him, that he wolde geue them leue, to entre in to ye same. And he gaue the leue.
8:33Then departed ye deuels out of the ma, and entred into the swyne. And the heerd russhed headlynges with a storme in to the lake, and were drowned.
8:34But wha ye herdmen sawe what had chaunsed, they fled, and tolde it in the cite and in the vyllagies.
8:35Then wente they out, for to se what was done, and came to Iesus, and founde the ma (out of whom the deuyls were departed) syttinge at Iesus fete, clothed, and in his right mynde, and they were afrayed.
8:36And they yt had sene it, tolde the how the possessed was healed.
8:37And the whole multitude of ye countre of the Gadarenites besought him, that he wolde departe from them, for there was a greate feare come vpon the. And he gat him in to ye shippe, and turned agayne.
8:38And the man out of who the deuels were departed, besought him, yt he might be with him. But Iesus sent him awaye, and sayde:
8:39Go home agayne, and shewe how greate thinges God hath done for the. And he wente his waye, & preached thorow out all ye cite, how greate thinges Iesus had done for hi.
8:40And it fortuned wha Iesus came agayne, the people receaued him, for they wayted for him.
8:41And beholde, there came a man named Iairus (and he was a ruler of the synagoge) and fell at Iesus fete, & besought him, that he wolde come in to his house.
8:42For he had but one doughter (vpon a twolue yeare of age) and she laye at ye poynt of death. And as he wente, the people thronged him.
8:43And a woma hauynge the bloudyssue twolue yeares, (which had spent all hir substaunte vpon phisicians, and coude be healed of none)
8:44came behynde, & touched the hemme of his garmet, and immediatly hir yssue of bloude was staunched.
8:45And Iesus sayde: Who hath touched me? But whan they all denyed, Peter sayde, and they that were with him: Master, the people thronge the and thrust the, and thou sayest: Who hath touched me?
8:46Iesus saide: Some body hath touched me, for I fele, that there is vertue gone out fro me.
8:47But whan the woman sawe that she was not hyd, she came treblynge, and fell downe before him, and tolde him before all the people, for what cause she had touched him, & how she was healed immediatly.
8:48And he sayde vnto her: Doughter, be of good comforte, thy faith hath made the whole, go thy waye in peace.
8:49Whyle he yet spake, there came one fro ye ruler of ye synagoges house, and sayde vnto him: Thy doughter is deed, disease not the master.
8:50Whan Iesus herde that, he answered him, and sayde: Feare not, beleue onely, and she shal be made whole.
8:51But whan he came in to the house, he suffred no man to go in, saue Peter, and Iames and Iho, and the father and mother of the mayden.
8:52They wepte all, and sorowed for her. But he sayde: Wepe not, for she is not deed, but slepeth.
8:53And they laughed hi to scorne, knowynge well that she was deed.
8:54But he thrust them all out, and toke her by the hande, and cryed, and sayde: Mayde aryse.
8:55And hir sprete came agayne, & she arose straight waye. And he comaunded to geue her meate.
8:56And hir elders were astonnyed. But he charged them, that they shulde tell no man, what was done.
