11:1	Soðlice wæs ge-worðen þa he wæs on summer stowe hine be-biddende. þa þa he ge-swac. him to cwæð an his leorning-cnihten. Drihten lær us. us to ge-biddan. swa iohannes his leorning-cnihtes lærde.
11:2	þa cwæð he to heom. cweðed þus þanne ge eow ge-biddað. Ure fæder þu þe on heofene eart syo þin name ge-haleged. to-cume þin rice. ge-worðe þin wille on heofene & on eorðe.
11:3	syle us to-daig urne daig-hwamlicne hlaf.
11:4	& for-gyf us ure geltes swa we for-gyfað ælcen þare þe wið us agylteð. & ne læd þu us on costnunge. ac alys us fram yfele.
11:5	Ða cwæð he to heom. Hwilc eowre hafed sumne freond & gæð to middre nihte to him. & cwæð to hym. La freond læn me þreo hlafes.
11:6	for þan min freond com of weige to me. & ic næbbe hwæt ic him to-foran legge.
11:7	Ænd he him þanne þus andswerige. ne beo þu me gram nu min dure is be-cosen. & mine cnihtes synde on reste mid me ne maig ich arisan nu & sillen ðe.
11:8	Gyf he þanne þurh-wuned cnokigende; ic eow segge gyf he arist & him sylleð; þanne for þan þe he his freond is. þeah-hwæðere for hys on-rope he arist & sylð him his neode.
11:9	And ich eow segge byddað. & eow beoð seald. secheð & ge findað. cnokieð & eow beoð un-tynd.
11:10	Ælc þare þe bitt on-fehð. & se þe secð he fint. & cnokiende byð un-tyned.
11:11	hwilc eower bit his fader hlafes. segest þu seld he him stan. oððe gyf he bit fissces sylð he him næddren for fissces.
11:12	oððe gyf he hym bytt aig. segst þu ræcd he him scorpionem þæt is an werm-kyn.
11:13	Witodlice gyf ge þanne þe synt yfele cunnan syllan gode sylene eowren bearnen; swa micele ma eower fader of heofene sylð godne gast þam þe hine biddað.
11:14	Þa wæs se hælende ut-adrifende sume deofel-seocnysse. & seo wæs dumb. And þa he ut-adraf þa deofel-seocnisse. þa spræc se dumbe. & þa manega wundreden.
11:15	Sume cwæðen on beelzebub deofle ealdre he ut-adraf þa deofel-seocnysse.
11:16	And sume his fandedon & geornden of heofene tacnys of him.
11:17	Ða he ge-seah heora þances he cwæð. Ælc rice on hit sylf to-dæled byð to-worpen. & þæt hus ofer þæt hus fald.
11:18	Gif satanas is to-daeled on hine sylfne hu stent his rice for-ðan-þe ge seggeð þæt ich on beelzebub deofel-seocnysse ut-adrife.
11:19	Gyf ich on beelzebub deofle ut-adrife. on hwam ut-adrifeð eowre bearn. for-ðan hyo beoð eowre deman.
11:20	Ge-wislice gyf ic on godes fingre deofle ut-adrife; ealle godes rice on eow be-kymð.
11:21	Þanne se strange ge-wæpned his cæfertun ge-healt. þonne beoð on sibbe þa þing þe he ahð.
11:22	Gyf þanne strengre ofer hine cymð. & hine ofer-swið; ealle his wæpne þe he on truwede he hym afyrð. & to-dælð his here-reaf.
11:23	Se þe nis mid me. he is on-gen me. And se ne gadered mid me; se hit to-stret.
11:24	Þanne se un-clæne gast gæð of þam men; he gæð þurh un-wæterie stowe reste secende. & nane ne ge-mett. þanne cweð he. Ic wende æft to minen huse þe ich of eode.
11:25	& þanne he kymð he hit ge-mett emtig mid besme afermed.
11:26	þanne gæð he & nymð seofan oðre gastes wirsan þanne he. & in-gæð & þær eardieð. þanne synt þas mannes ændes werse þanne þam earren.
11:27	Soðlice wæs ge-worðen þa he þis saigde; sum wif him to cwæð. Eadig is se innoð þe þe bær. & þa breost þe þu suke.
11:28	Þa cwæð he. Eadige sinde þa þe godes word ge-hereð & þæt ge-healdeð.
11:29	Þa hyra manega to-gadere coman he cwæð to heom. Þeos cneoris is manful cneoris; he secd taken & hire ne beoð nan ge-seald buton Ionas taken.

11:32	Niniuetisce men arised on dome mid þisse cneornisse. & ge-ne-ðeriað hyo. forþan þe hyo deadbote dyden. æt Ionan bodegunge. & þes is mare þanne jona.
11:33	Ne on-ælð nan man his leoht-fett & sett on diglen. ne under bedene. ac ofer candel-stef. þæt þe ingað leoht ge-seon.
11:34	Þin eage is þines lichames leoht-fæt. Gif þin eage beoð hluttor; þanne beoð eall þin lichame briht. Gif hit beoð deorc; eall þin lichame beoð þeostre.
11:35	Warne þæt þt leoht þe þe on is; ne syo þeostra.
11:36	Gif þin lichame eall beoð breoht; & næfd nænne dæl þeostre; þanne beoð he eall breoht. & þe on-liht swa þæt leoht-fæt þas lægræsces.
11:37	Ða bæd hine sum fariseisc man þæt he æte mid him. & he in-eode & sætt.

11:43	Wa eow fariseen ge þe lufieð þa formen heahsetlen on ge-samnungen & gretinge on stræten.
11:44	Wa eow for-þan-þe ge sende swilce þa byrigenna þe man innan ne sceawed. & þa men nyten þe heom on ufen gad.
11:45	Ða andswerede him sum lage-gleaw. lareow teonan þu wercst us mid þisse sage.
11:46	Ða cwæð he Wa eow lagewisen forþan ge semeð menn mid þam byrdenen þe hyo aberen ne mugen. & ge ne æthrinað þa seames mid eowren anen fingren.
11:47	Wa eow þe timbrieð witegena byrigena; eowre faderes hyo of-slogen

11:49	For-þam cweð godes wisdom. Ic sende to heom witegen & þa apostles; & hyo of-slæð hyo & æhtað
11:50	þæt ealra witegene blod syo ge-soht; þe wæs agoten of midden-eardes fruman; fram þisse cneorisse
11:51	fram abeles blode oð zacharias blod. se for-warð be-tweox þam altare & þam temple. Ic eow segge swa beoð ge-soht fram þisse cneornysse.
11:52	Wa eow lage-gleawe for-þam-þe ge ætbruden þas inge-heades ceyge ge in ne ge-heodden. & ge for-budon þa þe in-eoden.
11:53	Þa he heom þis to cwæð. þa ongunnen þa farisej & þa lage-wisan hefilice him agën standen & his muð dettan.
11:54	& ymbe hine syrwan; sechende sum þing of his muðe þæt hyo hine wreidon


11:1	And so it was, that as he was praying in a certaine place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said vnto him, Lord, teache vs to pray, as Iohn also taught his disciples.
11:2	And he said vnto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father, which art in heauen, halowed be thy Name: Thy kingdome come: Let thy will be done, euen in earth, as it is in heauen:
11:3	Our dayly bread giue vs for the day:
11:4	And forgiue vs our sinnes: for euen we forgiue euery man that is indetted to vs: And leade vs not into temptation: but deliuer vs from euill.
11:5	Moreouer he said vnto them, Which of you shall haue a friende, and shall goe to him at midnight, and say vnto him, Friende, lende mee three loaues?
11:6	For a friende of mine is come out of the way to me, and I haue nothing to set before him:
11:7	And hee within shoulde answere, and say, Trouble mee not: the doore is nowe shut, and my children are with mee in bed: I can not rise and giue them to thee.
11:8	I say vnto you, Though he would not arise and giue him, because he is his friende, yet doubtlesse because of his importunitie, hee woulde rise, and giue him as many as he needed.
11:9	And I say vnto you, Aske, and it shall be giuen you: seeke, and yee shall finde: knocke, and it shalbe opened vnto you.
11:10	For euery one that asketh, receiueth: and he that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, it shalbe opened.
11:11	If a sonne shall aske bread of any of you that is a father, will he giue him a stone? or if hee aske a fish, will he for a fish giue him a serpent?
11:12	Or if hee aske an egge, will hee giue him a scorpion?
11:13	If yee then which are euill, can giue good giftes vnto your children, howe much more shall your heauenly Father giue the holy Ghost to them, that desire him?
11:14	Then hee cast out a deuill which was domme: and when the deuill was gone out, the domme spake, and the people wondered.
11:15	But some of them said, He casteth out deuils through Beelzebub the chiefe of ye deuils.
11:16	And others tempted him, seeking of him a signe from heauen.
11:17	But he knew their thoughts, and said vnto them, Euery kingdom deuided against it self, shall be desolate, and an house deuided against an house, falleth.
11:18	So if Satan also bee deuided against himselfe, howe shall his kingdome stande, because yee say that I cast out deuils through Beelzebub?
11:19	If I through Beelzebub cast out deuils, by whome doe your children cast them out? Therefore shall they be your iudges.
11:20	But if I by ye finger of God cast out deuils, doutles the kingdome of God is come vnto you.
11:21	When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, the thinges that hee possesseth, are in peace.
11:22	But when a stronger then hee, commeth vpon him, and ouercommeth him: hee taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and deuideth his spoiles.
11:23	He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth.
11:24	When the vncleane spirite is gone out of a man, he walketh through drie places, seeking rest: and when he findeth none he saieth, I wil returne vnto mine house whence I came out.
11:25	And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.
11:26	Then goeth hee, and taketh to him seuen other spirites worse then himselfe: and they enter in, and dwel there: so the last state of that man is worse then the first.
11:27	And it came to passe as he sayde these thinges, a certaine woman of the companie lifted vp her voyce, and sayde vnto him, Blessed is the wombe that bare thee, and the pappes which thou hast sucked.
11:28	But hee saide, Yea, rather blessed are they that heare the woorde of God, and keepe it.
11:29	And when the people were gathered thicke together, he began to say, This is a wicked generation: they seeke a signe, and there shall no signe be giuen them, but the signe of Ionas the Prophet.
11:30	For as Ionas was a signe to the Niniuites: so shall also the Sonne of man bee to this generation.
11:31	The Queene of the South shall rise in iudgement, with the men of this generation, and shall condemne them: for shee came from the vtmost partes of the earth to heare the wisedome of Salomon, and beholde, a greater then Salomon is here.
11:32	The men of Niniue shall rise in iudgement with this generation, and shall condemne it: for they repented at the preaching of Ionas: and beholde, a greater then Ionas is here.
11:33	No man when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a priuie place, neither vnder a bushell: but on a candlesticke, that they which come in, may see the light.
11:34	The light of the bodie is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, then is thy whole bodie light: but if thine eye be euill, then thy bodie is darke.
11:35	Take heede therefore, that the light which is in thee, be not darkenesse.
11:36	If therefore thy whole body shall be light, hauing no part darke, then shall all be light, euen as when a candle doth light thee with the brightnesse.
11:37	And as hee spake, a certaine Pharise besought him to dine with him: and hee went in, and sate downe at table.
11:38	And when the Pharise saw it, he marueiled that he had not first washed before dinner.
11:39	And the Lord saide to him, In deede yee Pharises make cleane the outside of the cuppe, and of the platter: but the inwarde part is full of rauening and wickednesse.
11:40	Ye fooles, did not he that made that which is without, make that which is within also?
11:41	Therefore, giue almes of those thinges which you haue, and beholde, all thinges shall be cleane to you.
11:42	But wo be to you, Pharises: for ye tithe the mynt and the rewe, and all maner herbs, and passe ouer iudgement and the loue of God: these ought yee to haue done, and not to haue left the other vndone.
11:43	Wo be to you, Pharises: for ye loue the vppermost seats in the Synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
11:44	Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye are as graues which appeare not, and the men that walke ouer them, perceiue not.
11:45	Then answered one of the Lawyers, and saide vnto him, Master, thus saying thou puttest vs to rebuke also.
11:46	And he sayde, Wo be to you also, yee Lawyers: for yee lade men with burdens grieuous to be borne, and yee your selues touche not the burdens with one of your fingers.
11:47	Wo be to you: for ye builde the sepulchres of the Prophetes, and your fathers killed them.
11:48	Truely ye beare witnesse, and allowe the deedes of your fathers: for they killed them, and yee build their sepulchres.
11:49	Therefore said the wisedome of God, I wil sende them Prophets and Apostles, and of them they shall slaie, and persecute away,
11:50	That the blood of all the Prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation,
11:51	From the blood of Abel vnto the blood of Zacharias, which was slaine betweene the altar and the Temple: verely I say vnto you, it shall be required of this generation.
11:52	Wo be to you, Lawyers: for ye haue taken away the key of knowledge: ye entred not in your selues, and them that came in, ye forbade.
11:53	And as he sayde these things vnto them, the Scribes and Pharises began to vrge him sore, and to prouoke him to speake of many things,
11:54	Laying wait for him, and seeking to catche some thing of his mouth, whereby they might accuse him.


11:1	And it fortuned as he was prayinge in a certayne place: when he ceased one of his disciples sayde vnto him: Master teache vs to praye as Iohn taught his disciples.
11:2	And he sayd vnto the: When ye praye saye: O oure father which arte in heave halowed be thy name. Thy kyngdome come. Thy will be fulfilled even in erth as it is in heaven.
11:3	Oure dayly breed geve vs evermore.
11:4	And forgeve vs oure synnes: For eve we forgeve every man yt treaspaseth vs. And ledde vs not into teptacio. But deliver vs fro evill.
11:5	And he sayde vnto them: if any of you shuld have a frede and shuld goo to him at mid nyght and saye vnto him: frende lende me thre loves
11:6	for a frende of myne is come out of the waye to me and I have nothinge to set before him:
11:7	and he within shuld answere and saye trouble me not the dore is now sheet and my servautes are with me in the chamber I canot ryse and geve them to the.
11:8	I saye vnto you though he wold not aryse and geve him because he is his frede: yet because of his importunite he wold rise and geve him as many as he neded.
11:9	And I saye vnto you: axe and it shalbe geven you. Seke and ye shall fynde. knocke and it shalbe opened vnto you.
11:10	For every one that axeth receaveth: and he that seketh fyndeth: and to him that knocketh shall it be openned.
11:11	Yf the sonne shall axe breed of eny of you that is a father: wyll he geve him a stone? Or yf he axe fisshe wyll he for a fysshe geve him a serpent?
11:12	Or yf he axe an egge: wyll he offer him a scorpion?
11:13	Yf ye then which are evyll canne geve good giftes vnto youre chyldren how moche more shall the father of heaven geve an holy sprete to them that desyre it of him?
11:14	And he was a castynge out a devyll which was dome. And it folowed when the devyll was gone out the domme spake and the people wondred.
11:15	But some of the sayde: he casteth out devyls by the power of Belzebub the chefe of the devyls.
11:16	And other tempted him sekinge of him a signe fro heave.
11:17	But he knewe their thoughtes and sayde vnto them: Every kingdome devided with in it silfe shalbe desolate: and one housse shall fall vpon another.
11:18	So if Satan be devided with in him silfe: how shall his kyngdome endure? Because ye saye that I cast out devyls by the power of Belzebub.
11:19	Yf I by the power of Belzebub caste oute devyls: by whome do youre chyldren cast them out? Therfore shall they be youre iudges.
11:20	But if I with ye finger of God cast out devyls noo doute the kyngdome of God is come vpon you.
11:21	When a stronge man armed watcheth his housse: yt he possesseth is in peace.
11:22	But when a stronger then he cometh vpo him and overcometh him: he taketh from him his harnes wherin he trusted and devideth his gooddes.
11:23	He that is not with me is agaynst me. And he that gadereth not with me scattereth.
11:24	When the vnclene sprete is gone out of a man he walketh through waterlesse places sekinge reest. And when he fyndeth none he sayeth: I will returne agayne vnto my housse whence I came out.
11:25	And when he cometh he fyndeth it swept and garnissed.
11:26	Then goeth he and taketh to him seve other spretes worsse then himsilfe: and they enter in and dwell there. And the ende of that man is worsse then the begynninge.
11:27	And it fortuned as he spake those thinges a certayne woman of the copany lyfte vp her voyce and sayde vnto him: Happy is the wombe that bare the and the pappes which gave the sucke.
11:28	But he sayde: Ye happy are they that heare the worde of God and kepe it.
11:29	When the people were gadered thicke to geder: he began to saye. This is an evyll nacion: they seke a signe and ther shall no signe be geven them but the signe of Ionas the Prophet.
11:30	For as Ionas was a signe to the Ninivites so shall ye sonne of ma be to this nacio.
11:31	The quene of the southe shall ryse at iudgement with the men of this generacio and condempne them: for she came fro the ende of the worlde to heare the wysdome of Salomon. And beholde a greater then Salomon is here.
11:32	The men of Ninive shall ryse at the iudgement wt this generacio and shall condepne the: for they repented at the preachinge of Ionas. And beholde a greater then Ionas is here.
11:33	Noo man lighteth a candell and putteth it in a previe place nether vnder a busshell: But on a candelsticke that they that come in maye se ye light.
11:34	The light of thy body is the eye. Therfore when thine eye is single: then is all thy body full of light. But if thine eye be evyll: then shall thy body also be full of darknes.
11:35	Take hede therfore that the light which is in the be not darknes.
11:36	For if all thy body shalbe light havynge noo parte darke: then shall all be full of light even as when a candell doeth light the with his brightnes.
11:37	And as he spake a certayne Pharise besought him to dyne with him: and he went in and sate doune to meate.
11:38	When the Pharise sawe that he marveylled yt he had not fyrst wesshed before dyner.
11:39	And ye Lorde sayde to him: Now do ye Pharises make clene the out side of the cup and of the platter: but youre inwarde parties are full of raveninge and wickednes.
11:40	Ye foles dyd not he that made that which is without: make that which is within also?
11:41	Neverthelesse geve almose of that ye have and beholde all is clene to you.
11:42	But wo be to you Pharises for ye tithe the mynt and rewe and all manner erbes and passe over iudgment and the love of God. These ought ye to have done and yet not to have left the other vndone.
11:43	Wo be to you Pharises: for ye love the vppermost seates in the synagoges and gretinges in the markets.
11:44	Wo be to you scribes and pharises ypocrites for ye are as graves which appere not and the men yt walke over the are not ware of the.
11:45	Then answered one of the lawears and sayd vnto him: Master thus sayinge thou puttest vs to rebuke also.
11:46	Then he sayde: Wo be to you also ye lawears: for ye lade men with burthens greveous to be borne and ye youre selves touche not ye packes wt one of youre fyngers.
11:47	Wo be to you: ye bylde the sepulchres of the Prophetes and youre fathers killed the:
11:48	truly ye beare witnes that ye alowe the dedes of youre fathers for they kylled them and ye bylde their sepulchres.
11:49	Therfore sayde ye wisdome of God: I will send them Prophetes and Apostles and of them they shall slee and persecute:
11:50	that the bloude of all Prophetes which was sheed fro the beginninge of the worlde maye be requyred of this generacion
11:51	from the bloud of Abell vnto the bloud of zachary which perisshed bitwene the aulter and the temple. Verely I saye vnto you: it shalbe requyred of this nacion.
11:52	Wo be to you lawears: for ye have taken awaye ye keye of knowledge ye entred not in youre selves and them that came in ye forbade.
11:53	When he thus spake vnto them the lawears and the Pharises began to wexe busye about him and to stop his mouth with many questions
11:54	layinge wayte for him and sekinge to catche somethinge of his mought wherby they might accuse him.
