14:1	Note: [I Ntrauit iesus in domum cuiusdam principis sacerdotum sabbato manducare panem. ] Ða wæs ge-worðen þa he eode on sumes phariseas ealdres hus on ræste-daige. þæt he hlaf æte. & hyo be-gymden hine.
14:2	þa wæs þær sum wæter-seoc mann be-foran hym.
14:3	Ða cwæð se hælend to þam lage-gleawen. & farisean. is hit alyfed þæt man on reste-dagen hæle.
14:4	Ða swegedon hyo. þa nam he hine & hælde & for-let hine.
14:5	Ða cwæð he to heom andsweriende. Hwilces eowres asse oððe oxa be-feald on ænne pyt. & ne teod he hine rædlice up on reste daige.
14:6	Ða ne mihton hyo agen þis hym ge-andswerian.
14:7	Þa saigde he heom sum bispell. be þam inge-laðedon gymende hu hyo þa fyrmestan setle ge-curan. & þus cwæð.
14:8	Þanne þu beost to gyften ge-laðed. ne site þu on þa fyrmeste settle þi-læs wenunga sum wurðfulra cume.
14:9	& se þe inge-laðede segge þe rem þisen menn settl. & þu þanne mid scame nyme þt ytemesten settle.
14:10	Ac þanne þu ge-clyped beost. ga & site on þam ytemesten settle. þæt se þe inge-laðode þanne he kymð cweðe to þe. La freond; site ufor. þanne beoð þe wurðment beforan mid-sittenden.
14:11	For-þan ælc þe hine up-ahefð byð ge-nyðered. & se þe hine niðered se beoð up-ahafen.
14:12	Þa cwæð he to þam þe hine in laðede. Þanne þu dest wyste oððe ferme. ne cleope þu þine freond ne þine broðre. ne þine cuðan. ne þine welegen. nehhebures. þe-læs hyo þe agen laðian & þu hæbbe edlean.
14:13	Ac þanne þu beorscype do; cleope þearfen & wanhæften & healte & blinde.
14:14	þanne beost þu eadig. for-þan þe hyo næbbed hwanen hyo hit þe folgeldon (sic). Soðlice hit beoð þe for-golden on riht-wisra ariste.
14:15	Ða þis ge-herde sum of þam sittenden. þa cwæð he. eadig is se þe hlaf æt on godes riche.
14:16	Þa sægde he heom sum man worhte mycele ferme & manega ge-laðode.
14:17	þa sente he his þeowen to þare ferme timan. þæt he saide þam ge-laðedon þæt hyo coman. for-þan þe ealle þing gearewe wæren.
14:18	Ða ongamnan (sic) hyo ealle hyo be-laðedian. Se forme hym saigde ic bohte ænne tun; ich hæbbe neode þæt ic fare & hine ge-seo. ic bidde þe þæt þu me be-ladie.
14:19	Ða cwæð se oðer. ich bohte an ge-teme oxana. nu wille ich faren & fandian hyre. nu bidde ic þe be-lade me.
14:20	Ða cwæð sum ich ladde wif ham. for-þam ic ne mæg cuman.
14:21	Ða cyrde se þeowa & kydde his hlaforde þæt. Ða cwæð se hlaford mid yrre to þam þeowan. Ga raðe on þa stræte. & on wic þissere cestere. & þærfan & wan-hæften. & blinde. & healte. & læð (sic) hider in.
14:22	Ða cwæð se þeowa. Hlaford hit is ge-don swa þu bæde. & nu gyt her is emtig stowe.
14:23	Ða cwæð se hlaford gyt þa to þam þeowan. Ga geond þas wegas & hegas & nyd hyo þt hyo gan in. þt min hus syo ge-felled.
14:24	Soðlice ic eow segge þt nan þare manna þe ge-clepede synde. ne on-byriad mire (sic) ferme.
14:25	Note: Si quis uenit ad me. & non odit patrem suum & matrem. & filios. & fratres. & sorores. adhuc & animam suam; non potest meus esse discipulus. Soðlice mid him ferde micel menige. þa quoth. he to heom be-wend.
14:26	Gyf hwa to me cymð & ne hated hys fader & moder. & wif & bearn. & broðre & swustre. & þanne geot his sawle ne maig he beon min leorning-cniht.
14:27	& se þe ne bered hys cwelmenge & cymð efter me ne maig he beon min leorning-cniht.
14:28	hwylc eower wile timbrian ænne stepel. hu ne sit he arest & teleð þa and-fenges þe him be-hefe synde. hwæðer he haebbe hine to fulfremenne.
14:29	þe-læs siððan he þanne grund-wall leigð. & ne maig hine fulfremman. ealle þe hit ge-seoð aginned hine tælen.
14:30	& cweðen. hwæt þes man agan tymbrian. & ne mihte hit ge-endian.
14:31	Oððe gyf hwilc kyning wile faran & feohten on-gean oðerne kyng. hu ne sit he ær & þencd hwaðer he mage mid teon þusenden cumen agen þane þe him agen kymð mid twentigen þusenden.
14:32	& gyf he þanne wið hine fihten ne maig; he sent erendraken & bit sibbe.
14:33	Witodlice swa ys ælc of eow þe ne wið-sæcð ealle þingen þe he ah; ne maig he beon min leorning-cniht.
14:34	Göd is salt gif hit awurð on þam þe hit ge-selt beoð.
14:35	nys hyt nyt. ne on eorðen ne on mixene. ac hit beoð ut-aworpen. Ge-here se ðe earen hæbbe. to ge-herene.


14:1	And it came to passe that when he was entred into the house of one of the chiefe Pharises on the Sabbath day, to eate bread, they watched him.
14:2	And beholde, there was a certaine man before him, which had the dropsie.
14:3	Then Iesus answering, spake vnto the Lawyers and Pharises, saying, Is it lawfull to heale on the Sabbath day?
14:4	And they held their peace. Then he tooke him, and healed him, and let him goe,
14:5	And answered them, saying, Which of you shall haue an asse, or an oxe fallen into a pit, and wil not straightway pull him out on the Sabbath day?
14:6	And they could not answere him againe to those things.
14:7	He spake also a parable to the ghestes, when he marked howe they chose out the chiefe roomes, and said vnto them,
14:8	When thou shalt be bidden of any man to a wedding, set not thy selfe downe in the chiefest place, lest a more honourable man then thou, be bidden of him,
14:9	And he that bade both him and thee, come, and say to thee, Giue this man roome, and thou then begin with shame to take the lowest roome.
14:10	But when thou art bidden, goe and sit downe in the lowest roome, that when he that bade thee, cometh, he may say vnto thee, Friende, sit vp hier: then shalt thou haue worship in the presence of them that sit at table with thee.
14:11	For whosoeuer exalteth himselfe, shall be brought lowe, and he that humbleth himselfe, shall be exalted.
14:12	Then said he also to him that had bidden him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friendes, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsemen, nor ye riche neighbours, lest they also bid thee againe, and a recompence be made thee.
14:13	But when thou makest a feast, call ye poore, the maimed, the lame, and the blind,
14:14	And thou shalt be blessed, because they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the iust.
14:15	Nowe when one of them that sate at table, heard these things, he said vnto him, Blessed is he that eateth bread in the kingdome of God.
14:16	Then saide he to him, A certaine man made a great supper, and bade many,
14:17	And sent his seruant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come: for all things are nowe readie.
14:18	But they all with one mind beganne to make excuse: The first saide vnto him, I haue bought a farme, and I must needes goe out and see it: I pray thee, haue me excused.
14:19	And another said, I haue bought fiue yoke of oxen, and I goe to proue them: I pray thee, haue me excused.
14:20	And another said, I haue maried a wife, and therefore I can not come.
14:21	So that seruaunt returned, and shewed his master these thinges. Then was the good man of the house angrie, and said to his seruant, Goe out quickely into the streetes and lanes of the citie, and bring in hither the poore, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blinde.
14:22	And the seruaunt saide, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is roome.
14:23	Then the master sayd to the seruaunt, Goe out into the hie wayes, and hedges, and compell them to come in, that mine house may bee filled.
14:24	For I say vnto you, that none of those men which were bidden, shall taste of my supper.
14:25	Nowe there went great multitudes with him, and he turned and sayd vnto them,
14:26	If any man come to mee, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters: yea, and his owne life also, he can not be my disciple.
14:27	And whosoeuer beareth not his crosse, and commeth after mee, can not bee my disciple.
14:28	For which of you minding to builde a towre, sitteth not downe before, and counteth the cost, whether hee haue sufficient to performe it,
14:29	Lest that after he hath laide the foundation, and is not able to performe it, all that behold it, begin to mocke him,
14:30	Saying, This man began to builde, and was not able to make an end?
14:31	Or what King going to make warre against another King, sitteth not downe first, and taketh counsell, whether he be able with ten thousande, to meete him that commeth against him with twentie thousand?
14:32	Or els while hee is yet a great way off, hee sendeth an ambassage, and desireth peace.
14:33	So likewise, whosoeuer hee be of you, that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
14:34	Salt is good: but if salt haue lost his sauour, wherewith shall it be salted?
14:35	It is neither meete for the land, nor yet for the dunghill, but men cast it out. He that hath eares to heare, let him heare.


14:1	And it chaunsed that he went into the housse of one of ye chefe pharises to eate breed on a saboth daye: and they watched him.
14:2	And beholde ther was a man before him which had the dropsye.
14:3	And Iesus answered and spake vnto the lawears and pharises sayinge: is it laufull to heale on the saboth daye?
14:4	And they helde their peace. And he toke him and healed him and let him goo:
14:5	and answered the sayinge whiche of you shall have an asse or an oxe fallen into a pitt and will not strayght waye pull him out on the Saboth daye?
14:6	And they coulde not answer him agayne to that.
14:7	He put forthe a similitude to ye gestes whe he marked how they preased to the hyest roumes and sayd vnto the:
14:8	When thou arte bidde to a weddynge of eny man syt not doune in ye hyest roume lest a more honorable man then thou be bidden of him
14:9	and he that bade bothe him and the come and saye to the: geve this man roume and thou then beginne with shame to take the lowest roume.
14:10	But rather when thou arte bidden goo and syt in the lowest roume that when he that bade the cometh he maye saye vnto the: frende syt vp hyer. Then shalt thou have worshippe in the presence of them that syt at meate with the.
14:11	For whosoever exalteth him sylfe shalbe brought lowe. And he yt hubleth him sylfe shalbe exalted
14:12	Then sayde he also to him that had desyred him to diner: When thou makest a diner or a supper: call not thy frendes nor thy brethre nether thy kinsmen nor yet ryche neghbours: lest they bidde the agayne and a recompence be made the.
14:13	But when thou makest afeast call the poore the maymed the lame and the blynde
14:14	and thou shalt be happy for they cannot recompence the. But thou shalt be recompensed at the resurreccion of the iuste men.
14:15	When one of them that sate at meate also hearde that he sayde vnto him: happy is he that eateth breed in the kyngdome of God.
14:16	Then sayd he to him. A certayne man ordened a greate supper and bade many
14:17	and sent his servaunt at supper tyme to saye to them that wer bidden come: for all thinges are now redy.
14:18	And they all atonce begane to make excuse. The fyrst sayd vnto him: I have bought a ferme and I must nedes goo and se it I praye the have me excused.
14:19	And another sayd: I hove bought fyve yooke of oxen and I goo to prove them I praye the have me excused.
14:20	The thyrde sayd: I have maried a wyfe and therfore I cannot come.
14:21	And the servaunt went and brought his master worde therof. Then was the good man of the housse displeased and sayd to his servaut: Goo out quickly into ye stretes and quarters of the cite and bringe in hidder the poore and the maymed and the halt and the blynde.
14:22	And the servaut sayd: lorde it is done as thou comaundedst and yet ther is roume.
14:23	And the lorde sayd to the servaunt: Go out into ye hye wayes and hedges and compell the to come in that my housse maye be filled.
14:24	For I saye vnto you that none of those men which were bidde shall tast of my supper.
14:25	Ther went agreate copany with him and he turned and sayde vnto them:
14:26	If a man come to me and hate not his father and mother and wyfe and chyldren and brethren and sisters more over and his awne lyfe he cannot be my disciple.
14:27	And whosoever beare not his crosse and come after me cannot be my disciple.
14:28	Which of you disposed to bilde a toure sytteth not doune before and counteth ye cost whether he have sufficient to performe it?
14:29	lest after he hath layde ye foundacion and is not able to performe it all yt beholde it beginne to mocke him
14:30	sayinge: this man beganne to bilde and was not able to make an ende.
14:31	Or what kynge goeth to make batayle agaynst another kinge and sitteth not doune fyrst and casteth in his mynde whether he be able wt ten thousande to mete him that cometh agaynst him wt .xx thousand.
14:32	Or els whyll ye other is yet a greate waye of he will sende embasseatours and desyre peace.
14:33	So lykewyse none of you yt forsaketh not all yt he hath can be my disciple.
14:34	Salt is good but yf salt have loste hyr saltnes what shall be seasoned ther with?
14:35	It is nether good for ye londe nor yet for ye donge hill but men cast it out at ye dores. He yt hath eares to heare let him heare.
