Luke - Chapter: 15


15:1	Then resorted vnto hym all the Publycans and synners for to heare hym.
15:2	And the Pharises & Scribes murmured saiyng. He receyued to hys company synners, and eateth with them.
15:3	Then put he forth thys similytude to them. saying:
15:4	What man of you hauynge an hundred shepe, yf he loose one of them, doth not leaue nynty and nyne in the wildernes, and go after that which is lost vntyl he fynde hym?
15:5	And when he hath found hym, he putteth hym on hys shoulders wyth ioye.
15:6	And assone as he cometh home, he calleth together his louers and neyghboures, saiyng vnto them: reioyse with me, for I haue found my shepe whiche was lost.
15:7	I saye vnto you, that lykewyse ioye shalbe in heauen ouer one synner, that repenteth, more then ouer nyntye and nyne iust persons whiche nede no repentaunce.
15:8	Eyther what woman hauyng .x. grotes yf she loose one, doth not lyght a candell, and swepe the house, and seke diligentlye, tyll she fynde it?
15:9	And when she hath founde it, she calleth her louers and her neyghboures, saiyng: Reioyse with me, for I haue founde the grote which I had lost.
15:10	Lykewyse I saye vnto you ioye is made in the presence of the Angels of God ouer one synner that repenteth.
15:11	And he sayde: A certayne man had two sonnes,
15:12	and the yonger of them sayde to hys father: geue me my parte of the goodes that to me belongeth. And he deuyded vnto them hys substaunce.
15:13	And not longe after, the yonger sonne gathered all that he had together, & toke hys iorneye into a farre countrye, & there he wasted hys goodes with ryetous liuing.
15:14	And when he had spent all that he had, there arose a great dearth throughout all that same lande, & he began to lacke.
15:15	And he wente and claue to a citesyn of the same countrye, whiche sent hym to hys fielde, to kepe hys swyne.
15:16	And he woulde fayne haue fylled hys bellye with the codes that swyne eate. And no man gaue hym.
15:17	Then he came to hym selfe, and sayed: Howe many hyred seruauntes at my fathers haue breade ynough, and I dye for honger,
15:18	I wyll aryse, and go to my father, and will say vnto hym: father I haue synned agaynst heauen and before the,
15:19	and am no more worthye to be called thy sonne, make me as one of thy hyred seruauntes.
15:20	And he arose and wente to his father. And when he was yet a great way of, hys father sawe hym, and had compassyon and ran and fell on hys necke, & kyssed hym.
15:21	And the sonne sayed vnto him: father, I haue synned agaynst heauen in thy syghte, & am no more worthy to be called thy sonne.
15:22	But hys father sayed to hys seruauntes: brynge forthe that beste garmentes, & put it on hym, and put a rynge on hys hande, & showes on hys fete.
15:23	And brynge hyther the fatted caulfe and kyll hym, and let vs eate and be merye:
15:24	for thys my sonne was dead, and is alyue agayne, he was lost and is nowe founde. And they beganne to be mery.
15:25	The elder brother was in the fielde, & when he came, & drewe nye to the house, he hearde minstrelcy and daunsynge,
15:26	and called one of hys seruauntes, and axed what those thinges meant.
15:27	And he sayed vnto him: thy brother is come, & thy father hath killed the fatted caulfe, because he hath receyued hym safe and sound.
15:28	And he was angrye, and woulde not go in. Then came hys father out, and intreated him
15:29	He aunswered and sayde to his father: Loo this many yeares haue I done the seruice, neyther brake at any tyme thy commaundement, & yet gauest thou me neuer so muche as a kyd to make mery with my louers:
15:30	but assone as this thy sonne was come, which hath deuoured thy goodes with harlotes, thou hast for his pleasure kylled the fatted caulfe.
15:31	And he sayde vnto hym: sonne thou wast euer with me, and all that I haue, is thyne.
15:32	It was mete that we shoulde make merye, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is aliue again and was loste, and is founde.

15:3	Then spake hee this parable to them, saying,
15:4	What man of you hauing an hundreth sheepe, if hee lose one of them, doeth not leaue ninetie and nine in the wildernesse, and goe after that which is lost, vntill he finde it?
15:5	And when he hath found it, he laieth it on his shoulders with ioye.
15:6	And when he commeth home, he calleth together his friendes and neighbours, saying vnto them, Reioyce with mee: for I haue founde my sheepe which was lost.
15:7	I say vnto you, that likewise ioy shall be in heauen for one sinner that conuerteth, more then for ninetie and nine iust men, which neede none amendment of life.
15:8	Either what woman hauing ten groates, if she lose one groate, doth not light a candle, and sweepe the house, and seeke diligently till shee finde it?
15:9	And when shee hath found it, shee calleth her friendes, and neighbours, saying, Reioyce with me: for I haue found the groate which I had lost.
15:10	Likewise I say vnto you, there is ioy in the presence of the Angels of God, for one sinner that conuerteth.
15:11	He sayde moreouer, A certaine man had two sonnes.
15:12	And the yonger of them sayde to his father, Father, giue mee the portion of the goods that falleth to mee. So he deuided vnto them his substance.
15:13	So not many daies after, when the yonger sonne had gathered all together, hee tooke his iourney into a farre countrey, and there hee wasted his goods with riotous liuing.
15:14	Nowe when hee had spent all, there arose a great dearth throughout that land, and he began to be in necessitie.
15:15	Then hee went and claue to a citizen of that conntrey, and hee sent him to his farme, to feede swine.
15:16	And hee would faine haue filled his bellie with the huskes, that the swine ate: but no man gaue them him.
15:17	Then he came to him selfe, and said, Howe many hired seruaunts at my fathers haue bread ynough, and I die for hunger?
15:18	I wil rise and goe to my father, and say vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heaue, and before thee,
15:19	And am no more worthy to be called thy sonne: make me as one of thy hired seruants.
15:20	So hee arose and came to his father, and when hee was yet a great way off, his father sawe him, and had compassion, and ranne and fell on his necke, and kissed him.
15:21	And the sonne sayde vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heauen, and before thee, and am no more worthie to be called thy sonne.
15:22	Then the father said to his seruaunts, Bring foorth the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feete,
15:23	And bring the fat calfe, and kill him, and let vs eate, and be merie:
15:24	For this my sonne was dead, and is aliue againe: and he was lost, but he is found. And they began to be merie.
15:25	Nowe the elder brother was in the fielde, and when he came and drewe neere to the house, he heard melodie, and dauncing,
15:26	And called one of his seruaunts, and asked what those things meant.
15:27	And hee sayde vnto him, Thy brother is come, and thy father hath killed the fatte calfe, because he hath receiued him safe and sound.
15:28	Then he was angry, and would not goe in: therefore came his father out and entreated him.
15:29	But he answered and said to his father, Loe, these many yeeres haue I done thee seruice, neither brake I at any time thy commadement, and yet thou neuer gauest mee a kidde that I might make merie with my friends.
15:30	But when this thy sonne was come, which hath deuoured thy good with harlots, thou hast for his sake killed the fat calfe.
15:31	And he said vnto him, Sonne, thou art euer with me, and al that I haue, is thine. It was meete that we shoulde make merie, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is aliue againe: and hee was lost, but he is found.

15:7	I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
15:8	Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?
15:9	And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
15:10	Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
15:11	And he said, A certain man had two sons:
15:12	And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
15:13	And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
15:14	And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
15:15	And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
15:16	And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
15:17	And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
15:18	I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
15:19	And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
15:20	And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
15:21	And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
15:22	But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
15:23	And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
15:24	For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
15:25	Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
15:26	And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
15:27	And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
15:28	And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
15:29	And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
15:30	But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
15:31	And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
15:32	It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
