Luke - Chapter: 16

>
16:1And he sayed also vnto his disciples. There was a certayne ryche man which had a steward that was accused vnto him: that he wasted hys goodes.
16:2And he called hym, and sayde vnto hym: Howe is it, that I heare thys of the? Geue a comptes of thy stewardshyppe. For thou mayest be no longer stewarde.
16:3The stewarde sayde within hym selfe, what shall I do? for my mayster wyll take away from me the stewardshyppe. I can not dygge, and to begge, I am ashamed.
16:4I wote what to do, that when I am put oute of stewardshyppe, they maye receyue me into theyr houses.
16:5Then called he all hys maysters detters, & sayed vnto the first, how much owest thou vnto my mayster?
16:6And he sayed: an hundred tonnes of oyle. And he sayed to hym: take thy bil and sit doune quicklye, and wryte fyftye.
16:7Then sayed he to another: what owest thou? And he sayed: an hundred quarters of wheate. He said to hym: Take thy byll, and write foure scoore.
16:8And the Lord commended the vniust steward because he had done wyslye. For the chyldren of thys worlde are in theyr kynde, wyser then the chyldren of lyght,
16:9And I saye also vnto you: make you frendes, of the wycked mammon, that when ye shall depart, they maye receyue you into euerlastynge habitacyons.
16:10He that is faythfull in that whiche is least, the same is faythfull in muche. And he that is vnfaythfull in the least, is vnfaythfull also in muche.
16:11So then yf ye haue not ben faythfull in the wycked Mammon: who wyll beleue you in that which is true?
16:12And yf ye haue not bene faythfull in another mannes busynes, who shall geue you your owne?
16:13No seruaunte can serue two maysters, for other he shal hate the one and loue the other, or els he shall leane to the one, and despyse the other. Ye can not serue God and Mammon.
16:14All these thynges hearde the phariseis also which were couetous, and they mocked hym.
16:15And he sayde vnto them: Ye are they whiche iustifye your selues before men: but God knoweth your hertes. For that which is highly estemed amonge men, is abhominable in the syght of God.
16:16The lawe and the Prophetes raygned vntyll the tyme of Iohn: and sence that tyme the kyngdom of God is preached, and euery man stryueth to go in.
16:17Soner shall heauen & earthe peryshe, then one title of the lawe shal perish.
16:18Whosoeuer forsaketh his wyfe and maryeth another, breaketh matrimony. And euery man which maryeth her that is deforsed from her husbande comitteth aduoutrye also.
16:19There was a certayne ryche man, whiche was clothed in purple and fyne bysse, & fared delyciously euery daye,
16:20And there was a certayne begger named Lazarus, whiche laye at hys gate full of sores,
16:21desierynge to be refresshed with the cromes which fell from the riche mans bourde. Neuerthelesse the dogges came and lycked hys sores.
16:22And it fortuned that the begger dyed, and was caryed by the Angels into Abrahams bosome. The ryche man also dyed and was buryed.
16:23And beynge in hell in tormentes, he lyfte vp hys eyes, and sawe Abraham a farre of, & Lazarus in his bosome,
16:24and he cryed & sayed: father Abraham haue mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he maye dyppe the typpe of his fynger in water, and cole my tonge, for I am tormented in this flamme.
16:25But Abraham sayd vnto hym. Sonne, remembre that thou in thy lyfe tyme, receyuedest thy pleasure, and contrarywyse Lazarus payne. Nowe therfore is he conforted, and thou arte punyshed.
16:26Beyonde all thys, betwene you and vs there is a great space set, so that they whiche would go from hence to you can not, neyther maye come from thence to vs.
16:27Then he sayed: I praye the therfore father, sende hym to my fathers house.
16:28For I haue fyue brethren, for to warne them lest they also come into thys place of tormente.
16:29Abraham said vnto hym: they haue Moyses and the Prophetes: let them heare them.
16:30And he sayd: nay father Abraham, but yf one came vnto them from the dead, they woulde repent.
16:31He sayed vnto hym: yf they heare not Moyses, and the Prophetes, neyther wyll they beleue, though one rose from death agayne.

16:1And he sayde also vnto his disciples, There was a certaine riche man, which had a stewarde, and he was accused vnto him, that he wasted his goods.
16:2And hee called him, and saide vnto him, Howe is it that I heare this of thee? Giue an accounts of thy stewardship: for thou maiest be no longer steward.
16:3Then the stewarde saide within himselfe, What shall I doe? for my master taketh away from me the stewardship. I cannot digge, and to begge I am ashamed.
16:4I knowe what I will doe, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receiue mee into their houses.
16:5Then called he vnto him euery one of his masters detters, and said vnto the first, Howe much owest thou vnto my master?
16:6And he said, An hudreth measures of oyle. And he saide to him, Take thy writing, and sitte downe quickely, and write fiftie.
16:7Then said he to another, How much owest thou? And hee sayde, An hundreth measures of wheate. Then he saide to him, Take thy writing, and write foure score.
16:8And the Lord commended the vniust stewarde, because he had done wisely. Wherefore the children of this worlde are in their generation wiser then the children of light.
16:9And I say vnto you, Make you friends with the riches of iniquitie, that when ye shall want, they may receiue you into euerlasting habitations.
16:10He that is faithfull in the least, hee is also faithful in much: and he that is vniust in the least, is vniust also in much.
16:11If then ye haue not ben faithful in the wicked riches, who wil trust you in the true treasure?
16:12And if ye haue not bene faithfull in another mans goods, who shall giue you that which is yours?
16:13No seruaunt can serue two masters: for either he shall hate the one, and loue the other: or els he shall leane to the one, and despise the other. Yee can not serue God and riches.
16:14All these thinges heard the Pharises also which were couetous, and they scoffed at him.
16:15Then he sayde vnto them, Yee are they, which iustifie your selues before men: but God knoweth your heartes: for that which is highly esteemed among men, is abomination in the sight of God.
16:16The Lawe and the Prophets endured vntill Iohn: and since that time the kingdome of God is preached, and euery man preasseth into it.
16:17Nowe it is more easie that heauen and earth shoulde passe away, then that one title of the Lawe should fall.
16:18Whosoeuer putteth away his wife, and marieth another, committeth adulterie: and whosoeuer marieth her that is put away from her husband, committeth adulterie.
16:19There was a certaine riche man, which was clothed in purple and fine linnen, and fared well and delicately euery day.
16:20Also there was a certaine begger named Lazarus, which was laide at his gate full of sores,
16:21And desired to bee refreshed with the crommes that fell from the riche mans table: yea, and the dogges came and licked his sores.
16:22And it was so that the begger died, and was caried by the Angels into Abrahams bosome. The rich man also died, and was buried.
16:23And being in hell in torments, he lift vp his eyes, and sawe Abraham a farre off, and Lazarus in his bosome.
16:24Then he cried, and saide, Father Abraham, haue mercie on mee, and sende Lazarus that hee may dippe the tip of his finger in water, and coole my tongue: for I am tormented in this flame.
16:25But Abraham saide, Sonne, remember that thou in thy life time receiuedst thy pleasures, and likewise Lazarus paines: now therefore is he comforted, and thou art tormented.
16:26Besides all this, betweene you and vs there is a great gulfe set, so that they which would goe from hence to you, can not: neither can they come from thence to vs.
16:27Then he said, I pray thee therfore, father, that thou wouldest sende him to my fathers house,
16:28(For I haue fiue brethren) that he may testifie vnto them, least they also come into this place of torment.
16:29Abraham said vnto him, They haue Moses and the Prophets: let them heare them.
16:30And he sayde, Nay, father Abraham: but if one came vnto them from the dead, they will amend their liues.
16:31Then he saide vnto him, If they heare not Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rise from the dead againe.

16:1And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.
16:2And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.
16:3Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.
16:4I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.
16:5So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?
16:6And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.
16:7Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.
16:8And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
16:9And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
16:10He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
16:11If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
16:12And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?
16:13No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
16:14And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
16:15And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
16:16The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
16:17And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
16:18Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
16:19There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
16:20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
16:21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
16:22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
16:23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
16:24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
16:25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
16:26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
16:27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
16:28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
16:29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
16:30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
16:31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
