| 15:1 | Then resorted vnto him all the publicans and synners, for to heare him. |
| 15:2 | And the Pharises and Scribes murmured, sayinge. He receaueth synners, and eateth with them. |
| 15:3 | But he put forth this parable vnto them, saieng. |
| 15:4 | What man of you hauynge an hundred shepe (yf he lose one of them) doth not leaue nynty and nyne in the wildernes, and go after that which is lost, vntill he fynde it? |
| 15:5 | And when he hath founde it, he laieth it on his shulders with ioye. |
| 15:6 | And assone as he cometh home, he calleth together his louers and neyghbours, saying vnto them: Reioyse with me for I haue founde my shepe, which was loost. |
| 15:7 | I say vnto you, that like wyse ioye shalbe in heauen ouer one synner that repenteth, more then ouer nynty and nyne iuste persons, which nede no repentaunce. |
| 15:8 | Ether what woman (hauynge ten grotes, yf she loose one) doth not light a candell, and swepe the housse, and seke diligently tyll she fynde it? |
| 15:9 | And when she hath founde it, she calleth her louers and her neyghbours together, sayinge: Reioyce with me, for I haue founde the grote which I had lost. |
| 15:10 | Likewyse I saye vnto you, shall ther be ioye in the presence of the angels of God, ouer one synner that repenteth. |
| 15:11 | And he sayd: A certayne man had two sonnes, |
| 15:12 | and the yonger of them sayde vnto the father: father, geue me the porcion of the goodes, that to me belongeth. And he deuided vnto them his substance. |
| 15:13 | And not longe after, whan the yonger sonne had gathered all that he had together, he toke his iorney into a far countreye, and there he wasted his goodes with ryotous liuing. |
| 15:14 | And when he had spent all, ther arose a greate derth in all that land, and he began to lacke, |
| 15:15 | and went, and came to a citesyn of the same countre: and he sent him to his farme, to kepe swyne. |
| 15:16 | And he wolde fayne haue fylled his bely with the coddes that the swyne dyd eate: & no man gaue vnto him. |
| 15:17 | Then he came to him selfe, and sayd: how many hyred seruauntes at my fathers haue breed ynough? and I perishe with honger. |
| 15:18 | I wyll aryse, and go to my father, and will saye vnto him: father, I haue synned agaynst heauen, and before the, |
| 15:19 | & am no more worthy to be called thy sonne, make me as one of thy hyred seruauntes. |
| 15:20 | And he arose, & came to his father. But when he was yet a greate waye of, his father sawe him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kyssed him. |
| 15:21 | And the sonne sayde vnto him: father, I haue synned agaynst heauen, and in thy syght, & am nomore worthy to be called thy sonne. |
| 15:22 | But the father sayd to his seruauntes: brynge forth the best garment, and put it on him, and put a rynge on his hande, and shoes on his fete. |
| 15:23 | And brynge hyther that fatt caulfe, and kyll it, and let vs eate and be mery: |
| 15:24 | for this my sonne was deed, and is alyue agayne, he was loste, and is founde. And they began to be merye. |
| 15:25 | The elder brother was in the felde: and when he came and drewe nye to the housse, he herde mynstrelsy & daunsynge, |
| 15:26 | and called one of his seruauntes, and asked, what those thynges meante. |
| 15:27 | And he sayd vnto him: thy brother is come, and thy father hath kylled the fatt caulfe, because he hath receaued him safe and sounde. |
| 15:28 | And he was angry, and wolde not go in. Then came hys father out, and entreated him. |
| 15:29 | He answered and sayde to his father: Lo, these many yeares haue I done the seruice, nether brake at any tyme thy commaundement, and yet gauest thou me neuer a kid, to make mery with my frendes: |
| 15:30 | but assone as this thy sonne was come (which hath deuoured thy goodes with harlotes) thou haste for his pleasure kylled the fatt caulfe. |
| 15:31 | And he sayde vnto him: Sonne, thou art euer with me, and all that I haue is thyne: |
| 15:32 | it was mete that we shulde make mery and be glad: for this thy brother was deed, and is alyue agayne: and was loste, and is founde. |

| 15:2 | And the Farisees and scribis grutchiden, seiynge, For this resseyueth synful men, and etith with hem. |

| 15:4 | and seide, What man of you that hath an hundrith scheep, and if he hath lost oon of hem, whethir he leeueth not nynti and nyne in desert, and goith to it that perischide, til he fynde it? |
| 15:5 | And whanne he hath foundun it, he ioieth, and leyith it on hise schuldris; and he cometh hoom, |
| 15:6 | and clepith togidir hise freendis and neiyboris, and seith to hem, Be ye glad with me, for Y haue founde my scheep, that hadde perischid. |
| 15:7 | And Y seie to you, so ioye schal be in heuene on o synful man doynge penaunce, more than on nynti and nyne iuste, that han no nede to penaunce. |
| 15:8 | Or what womman hauynge ten besauntis, and if sche hath lost oo besaunt, whether sche teendith not a lanterne, and turneth vpsodoun the hows, and sekith diligentli, til that sche fynde it? |
| 15:9 | And whanne sche hath foundun, sche clepith togidir freendis and neiyboris, and seith, Be ye glad with me, for Y haue founde the besaunt, that Y hadde lost. |
| 15:10 | So Y seie to you, ioye schal be bifor aungels of God on o synful man doynge penaunce. |
| 15:11 | And he seide, A man hadde twei sones; |
| 15:12 | and the yonger of hem seide to the fadir, Fadir, yyue me the porcioun of catel, that fallith to me. And he departide to hem the catel. |
| 15:13 | And not aftir many daies, whanne alle thingis weren gederid togider, the yonger sone wente forth in pilgrymage in to a fer cuntre; and there he wastide hise goodis in lyuynge lecherously. |
| 15:14 | And aftir that he hadde endid alle thingis, a strong hungre was maad in that cuntre, and he bigan to haue nede. |
| 15:15 | And he wente, and drouy hym to oon of the citeseyns of that cuntre. And he sente hym in to his toun, to fede swyn. |
| 15:16 | And he coueitide to fille his wombe of the coddis that the hoggis eeten, and no man yaf hym. |
| 15:17 | And he turnede ayen to hym silf, and seide, Hou many hirid men in my fadir hous han plente of looues; and Y perische here thorouy hungir. |
| 15:18 | Y schal rise vp, and go to my fadir, and Y schal seie to hym, Fadir, Y haue synned in to heuene, and bifor thee; |
| 15:19 | and now Y am not worthi to be clepid thi sone, make me as oon of thin hirid men. |
| 15:20 | And he roos vp, and cam to his fadir. And whanne he was yit afer, his fadir saiy hym, and was stirrid bi mercy. And he ran, and fel on his necke, and kisside hym. |
| 15:21 | And the sone seide to hym, Fadir, Y haue synned in to heuene, and bifor thee; and now Y am not worthi to be clepid thi sone. |
| 15:22 | And the fadir seide to hise seruauntis, Swithe brynge ye forth the firste stoole, and clothe ye hym, and yyue ye a ryng in his hoond, |
| 15:23 | and schoon on hise feet; and brynge ye a fat calf, and sle ye, and ete we, and make we feeste. |
| 15:24 | For this my sone was deed, and hath lyued ayen; he perischid, and is foundun. And alle men bigunnen to ete. |
| 15:25 | But his eldere sone was in the feeld; and whanne he cam, and neiyede to the hous, he herde a symfonye and a croude. |
| 15:26 | And he clepide oon of the seruauntis, and axide, what these thingis weren. |
| 15:27 | And he seide to hym, Thi brother is comun, and thi fadir slewe a fat calf, for he resseyuede hym saaf. |
| 15:28 | And he was wrooth, and wolde not come in. Therfor his fadir wente out, and bigan to preye hym. |
| 15:29 | And he answerde to his fadir, and seide, Lo! so many yeeris Y serue thee, and Y neuer brak thi comaundement; and thou neuer yaf to me a kidde, that Y with my freendis schulde haue ete. |
| 15:30 | But aftir that this thi sone, that hath deuourid his substaunce with horis, cam, thou hast slayn to hym a fat calf. |
| 15:31 | And he seide to hym, Sone, thou art euer more with me, and alle my thingis ben thine. |
| 15:32 | But it bihofte for to make feeste, and to haue ioye; for this thi brother was deed, and lyuede ayen; he perischide, and is foundun. |

| 15:6 | and whan he commeth home, he calleth his fredes and neghbours, and sayeth vnto the: Reioyce with me, for I haue founde my shepe, yt was lost. |
| 15:7 | I saye vnto you: Eue so shal there be ioye in heauen ouer one synner that doth pennaunce, more then ouer nyne and nyentye righteous, which nede not repentaunce. |
| 15:8 | Or what woman is it that hath ten grotes, yf she loose one of them, that lighteth not a candell, and swepeth the house, and seketh diligently, tyll she fynde it? |

| 15:15 | and wente his waye, and claue to a cytesin of that same countre, which sent him in to his felde, to kepe swyne. |
| 15:16 | And he wolde fayne haue fylled his bely with the coddes, that the swyne ate. And no man gaue him them. |
| 15:17 | Then came he to him self, and sayde: How many hyred seruauntes hath my father, which haue bred ynough, and I perish of honger? |
| 15:18 | I wil get vp, and go to my father, and saye vnto him: Father, I haue synned agaynst heauen and before the, |
| 15:19 | and am nomore worthy to be called thy sonne, make me as one of thy hyred seruauntes. |
| 15:20 | And he gat him vp, & came vnto his father. But whan he was yet a greate waye of, his father sawe him, and had copassion, and ranne, and fell aboute his neck, and kyssed him. |
| 15:21 | Then sayde the sonne vnto him: Father, I haue synned agaynst heaue, and before the, I am nomore worthy to be called thy sonne. |
| 15:22 | But the father sayde vnto his seruauntes: Brynge forth the best garment, and put it vpon him, and geue him a rynge vpon his hande, and shues on his fete, |
