| 18:1 | And he spake a parable vnto them, to this ende, that men ought alwayes to pray, and not to faint, |
| 18:2 | Saying, There was in a city a Iudge, which feared not God neither regarded man. |
| 18:3 | And there was a widowe in that citie, and she came vnto him, saying, Auenge me of mine aduersarie: |
| 18:4 | And hee would not for a while. But afterward he said within himselfe, Though I feare not God, nor regard man, |
| 18:5 | Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will auenge her, lest by her continuall comming, she wearie me. |
| 18:6 | And the Lord said, Heare what the vniust iudge saith. |
| 18:7 | And shall not God auenge his owne elect, which crie day and night vnto him, thogh he beare long with them? |
| 18:8 | I tell you that he wil auenge them speedily. Neuerthelesse, when the Son of man commeth, shall hee find faith on the earth? |
| 18:9 | And he spake this parable vnto certaine which trusted in themselues that they were righteous, & despised other: |
| 18:10 | Two men went vp into the Temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a Publicane. |
| 18:11 | The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himselfe, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, vniust, adulterers, or euen as this Publicane. |
| 18:12 | I fast twise in the weeke, I giue tithes of all that I possesse. |
| 18:13 | And the Publicane standing afarre off, would not lift vp so much as his eyes vnto heauen: but smote vpon his breast, saying, God me mercifull to mee a sinner. |
| 18:14 | I tell you, this man went downe to his house iustified rather then the other: For euery one that exalteth himselfe, shall be abased: and hee that humbleth himselfe, shall be exalted. |
| 18:15 | And they brought vnto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. |
| 18:16 | But Iesus called them vnto him, and said, Suffer litle children to come vnto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdome of God. |
| 18:17 | Uerely I say vnto you, whosoeuer shall not receiue the kingdome of God as a litle child, shal in no wise enter therein. |
| 18:18 | And a certaine ruler asked him, saying, Good master, what shall I doe to inherit eternall life? |
| 18:19 | And Iesus said vnto him, Why callest thou mee good? None is good saue one, that is God. |
| 18:20 | Thou knowest the commaundements, Doe not commit adulterie, Doe not kill, Doe not steale, Doe not beare false witnesse, Honour thy father and thy mother. |
| 18:21 | And he said, All these haue I kept from my youth vp. |
| 18:22 | Now when Iesus heard these things, hee said vnto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: Sell all that thou hast, and distribute vnto the poore, and thou shalt haue treasure in heauen, and come, follow me. |
| 18:23 | And when he heard this, he was very sorowfull, for he was very rich. |
| 18:24 | And when Iesus saw that hee was very sorrowfull, he said, How hardly shal they that haue riches, enter into the kingdome of God? |
| 18:25 | For it is easier for a camel to goe thorow a needles eye, then for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. |
| 18:26 | And they that heard it, said, Who then can be saued? |
| 18:27 | And he said, The things which are vnpossible with men, are possible with God. |
| 18:28 | Then Peter said, Loe, we haue left all, and followed thee. |
| 18:29 | And he said vnto them, Uerily, I say vnto you, there is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdome of Gods sake, |
| 18:30 | Who shall not receiue manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life euerlasting. |
| 18:31 | Then hee tooke vnto him the twelue, and said vnto them, Behold, we goe vp to Hierusalem, and al things that are written by the Prophets concerning the sonne of man, shall be accomplished. |
| 18:32 | For he shall be deliuered vnto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully intreated, and spitted on: |
| 18:33 | And they shall scourge him, and put him to death, and the third day he shall rise againe. |
| 18:34 | And they vnderstood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken. |
| 18:35 | And it came to passe, that as he was come nigh vnto Iericho, a certaine blinde man sate by the way side, begging, |
| 18:36 | And hearing the multitude passe by, he asked what it meant. |
| 18:37 | And they tolde him that Iesus of Nazareth passeth by. |
| 18:38 | And he cried, saying, Iesus thou sonne of Dauid, haue mercie on me. |
| 18:39 | And they which went before, rebuked him, that hee should holde his peace: but hee cried so much the more, Thou Sonne of Dauid, haue mercie on mee. |
| 18:40 | And Iesus stood and commanded him to be brought vnto him: and when he was come neere, he asked him, |
| 18:41 | Saying, What wilt thou that I shall doe vnto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receiue my sight. |
| 18:42 | And Iesus said vnto him, Receiue thy sight, thy faith hath saued thee. |
| 18:43 | And immediately he receiued his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people when they saw it, gaue praise vnto God. |
| 18:1 | He tolde them a symilitude, signifienge, yt men ought allwayes to praye, & not to leaue of, |
| 18:2 | & sayde: There was a iudge in a cite, which feared not God, and stode in awe of no man. |
| 18:3 | And in the same cite there was a wedowe, which came vnto him, and sayde: delyuer me fro myne aduersary. |
| 18:4 | And he wolde not a greate whyle. But afterwarde he thought within hi self: Though I feare not God, & stonde in awe of no man, |
| 18:5 | yet seynge this weddowe is so importune vpon me, I wil delyuer her, lest she come at the last, and rayle vpon me. |
| 18:6 | Then sayde the LORDE: Heare what ye vnrighteous iudge sayeth. |
| 18:7 | But shall not God also delyuer his chosen, that crye vnto hi daye and night, though he differre the? |
| 18:8 | I saye vnto you: He shal delyuer them, and that shortly. Neuertheles, whan the sonne of man cometh, suppose ye, that he shal fynde faith vpon earth? |
| 18:9 | And vnto certayne which trusted in the selues, that they were perfecte, and despysed other,he spake this symilitude: |
| 18:10 | There wente vp two men in to the teple, to praye: the one a Pharise, the other a publican. |
| 18:11 | The Pharise stode, and prayed by himself after this maner: I thanke the God, that I am not as other men, robbers, vnrighteous, aduouters, or as this publican. |
| 18:12 | I fast twyse in the weke, I geue the tithes of all that I haue. |
| 18:13 | And the publican stode afarre of, and wolde not lift vp his eyes to heauen, but smote vpon his brest, and sayde: God be thou mercyfull vnto me synner. |
| 18:14 | I tell you: This man wente downe in to his house iustified more the the other. For who so euer exalteth himself, shalbe brought lowe: and he that humbleth himself, shalbe exalted. |
| 18:15 | They brought yonge children also vnto him, that he shulde touch them. But whan the disciples sawe that, they rebuked them. |
| 18:16 | Neuertheles Iesus called them vnto him, and sayde: Suffre childre to come vnto me, and forbyd the not, for of soch is ye kyngdome of God. |
| 18:17 | Verely I saye vnto you: Whosoeuer receaueth not ye kyngdome of God as a childe, shal not enter therin. |
| 18:18 | And a certayne ruler axed him, and sayde: Good master, what must I do, that I maye enheret euerlastinge life? |
| 18:19 | But Iesus sayde vnto him: Why callest thou me good? There is no man good, but God onely. |
| 18:20 | Thou knowest the comaundementes: Thou shalt not breake wedlocke: Thou shalt not kyll: Thou shalt not steale: Thou shalt not beare false wytnesse: Honoure thy father and yi mother. |
| 18:21 | But he sayde: All these haue I kepte fro my youth vp. |
| 18:22 | Wha Iesus herde that, he sayde vnto him: Yet lackest thou one thinge, sell all that thou hast, and geue it vnto ye poore, and thou shalt haue a treasure in heauen, and come & folowe me. |
| 18:23 | Whan he herde that, he was sory, for he was very riche. |
| 18:24 | Whan Iesus sawe that he was sory, he sayde: How hardly shal the riche come in to the kyngdome of God? |
| 18:25 | It is easyer for a Camell to go thorow the eye of a nedle, the for a rich man to entre in to the kyngdome of God. |
| 18:26 | Then sayde they yt herde that: Who can then be saued? |
| 18:27 | But he sayde: loke what is vnpossible with me, is possible with God. |
| 18:28 | Then sayde Peter: Beholde, we haue forsake all, and folowed the. |
| 18:29 | He sayde vnto the: Verely I saye vnto you: There is no ma yt forsaketh house, or elders, or brethren, or wife, or children for the kyngdome of Gods sake, |
| 18:30 | which shal not receaue moch more in this tyme, and euerlastinge life in the worlde to come. |
| 18:31 | He toke vnto him the twolue, and sayde vnto them: Beholde, we go vp to Ierusale, and it shal all be fulfilled, that is wrytten by the prophetes of the sonne of man. |
| 18:32 | For he shal be delyuered vnto ye Heythen, and shalbe mocked, and despytefully intreated, and spitted vpon: |
| 18:33 | and whan they haue scourged him, they shal put him to death, and vpon the thirde daye shal he aryse agayne. |
| 18:34 | And they vnderstode nothinge of these thinges. And this sayenge was hyd from them, and they perceaued not the thinges that were spoken. |
| 18:35 | And it came to passe, whan he came nye vnto Iericho, there sat one blynde by the waye, and begged. |
| 18:36 | And whan he herde the people passe by, he axed what it was. |
| 18:37 | Then sayde they vnto him, that Iesus of Nazareth passed by. |
| 18:38 | And he cryed, and sayde: Iesu thou sonne of Dauid, haue mercy vpon me. |
| 18:39 | But the people that wente before, rebuked him, that he shulde holde his tunge. Neuertheles he cried moch more: Thou sonne of Dauid haue mercy vpo me. |
| 18:40 | Iesus stode styl, & comaunded hi to be brought vnto hi. And whan he was come neare, he axed him |
| 18:41 | and sayde: What wilt thou, that I do vnto the? He sayde: LORDE, that I maye receaue my sight. |
| 18:42 | And Iesus sayde vnto him: Receaue thy sight, thy faith hath saued the. |
| 18:43 | And immediatly he sawe, and folowed him, & praysed God. And all the people that sawe it, gaue God the prayse. |
| 18:1 | And he seide to hem also a parable, that it bihoueth to preye euer more, and not faile; |
| 18:2 | and seide, There was a iuge in a citee, that dredde not God, nether schamede of men. |
| 18:3 | And a widowe was in that citee, and sche cam to hym, and seide, Venge me of myn aduersarie; |
| 18:4 | and he wolde not longe tyme. But aftir these thingis he seide with ynne hym silf, Thouy Y drede not God, and schame not of man, |
| 18:5 | netheles for this widewe is heuy to me, Y schal venge hir; lest at the laste sche comynge condempne me. |
| 18:6 | And the Lord seide, Here ye, what the domesman of wickidnesse seith; |
| 18:7 | and whether God schal not do veniaunce of hise chosun, criynge to hym dai and nyyt, and schal haue pacience in hem? |
| 18:8 | Sotheli Y seie to you, for soone he schal do veniaunce of hem. Netheles gessist thou, that mannus sone comynge schal fynde feith in erthe? |
| 18:9 | And he seide also to sum men, that tristiden in hem silf, as thei weren riytful, and dispiseden othere, this parable, |
| 18:10 | seiynge, Twei men wenten vp in to the temple to preye; the toon a Farisee, and the tother a pupplican. |
| 18:11 | And the Farisee stood, and preiede bi hym silf these thingis, and seide, God, Y do thankyngis to thee, for Y am not as other men, raueinouris, vniust, auoutreris, as also this pupplican; |
| 18:12 | Y faste twies in the woke, Y yyue tithis of alle thingis that Y haue in possessioun. |
| 18:13 | And the pupplican stood afer, and wolde nether reise hise iyen to heuene, but smoot his brest, and seide, God be merciful to me, synnere. |
| 18:14 | Treuli Y seie to you, this yede doun in to his hous, and was iustified fro the other. For ech that enhaunsith hym, schal be maad low, and he that mekith hym, schal be enhaunsid. |
| 18:15 | And thei brouyten to hym yonge children, that he schulde touche hem; and whanne the disciplis saien this thing, thei blameden hem. |
| 18:16 | But Jhesus clepide togider hem, and seide, Suffre ye children to come to me, and nyle ye forbede hem, for of siche is the kyngdom of heuenes. |
| 18:17 | Treuli Y seie to you, who euer schal not take the kyngdom of God as a child, he schal not entre in to it. |
| 18:18 | And a prince axide hym, and seide, Goode maister, in what thing doynge schal Y weilde euerlastynge lijf? |
| 18:19 | And Jhesus seide to hym, What seist thou me good? No man is good, but God aloone. |
| 18:20 | Thou knowist the comaundementis, Thou schalt not sle, Thou schalt not do letcherie, Thou schalt not do theft, Thou schalt not seie fals witnessyng, Worschipe thi fadir and thi modir. |
| 18:21 | Which seide, Y haue kept alle these thingis fro my yongthe. |
| 18:22 | And whanne this thing was herd, Jhesus seide to hym, Yit o thing failith `to thee; sille thou alle thingis that thou hast, and yyue to pore men, and thou schalt haue tresour in heuene; and come, and sue thou me. |
| 18:23 | Whanne these thingis weren herd, he was soreful, for he was ful ryche. |
| 18:24 | And Jhesus seynge hym maad sorie, seide, How hard thei that han money schulen entre in to the kyngdom of God; |
| 18:25 | for it is liyter a camel to passe thorou a nedlis iye, than a riche man to entre in to the kyngdom of God. |
| 18:26 | And thei that herden these thingis seiden, Who may be maad saaf? |
| 18:27 | And he seide to hem, Tho thingis that ben impossible anentis men, ben possible anentis God. |
| 18:28 | But Petir seide, Lo! we han left alle thingis, and han sued thee. |
| 18:29 | And he seide to hym, Treuli Y seie to you, there is no man that schal forsake hous, or fadir, modir, or britheren, or wijf, or children, or feeldis, for the rewme of God, |
| 18:30 | and schal not resseyue many mo thingis in this tyme, and in the world to comynge euerlastynge lijf. |
| 18:31 | And Jhesus took hise twelue disciplis, and seide to hem, Lo! we gon vp to Jerusalem, and alle thingis schulen be endid, that ben writun bi the prophetis of mannus sone. |
| 18:32 | For he schal be bitraied to hethen men, and he schal be scorned, and scourgid, and bispat; |
| 18:33 | and aftir that thei han scourgid, thei schulen sle hym, and the thridde dai he schal rise ayen. |
| 18:34 | And thei vndurstoden no thing of these; and this word was hid fro hem, and thei vndurstoden not tho thingis that weren seid. |
| 18:35 | But it was don, whanne Jhesus cam nyy to Jerico, a blynde man sat bisidis the weie, and beggide. |
