24:20and hou the heiyest preestis of oure princis bitoken hym in to dampnacioun of deeth, and crucifieden hym.
24:21But we hopiden, that he schulde haue ayenbouyt Israel. And now on alle these thingis the thridde dai is to dai, that these thingis weren don.
24:22But also summe wymmen of ouris maden vs afered, whiche bifor dai weren at the graue; and whanne his bodi was not foundun,

24:26Whethir it bihofte not Crist to suffre these thingis, and so to entre in to his glorie?
24:27And he bigan at Moises and at alle the prophetis, and declaride to hem in alle scripturis, that weren of hym.
24:28And thei camen nyy the castel, whidur thei wenten. And he made countenaunce that he wolde go ferthere.
24:29And thei constreyneden hym, and seiden, Dwelle with vs, for it drawith to nyyt, and the dai is now bowid doun.
24:30And he entride with hem. And it was don, while he sat at the mete with hem, he took breed, and blesside, and brak, and took to hem.

24:33And thei risen vp in the same our, and wenten ayen in to Jerusalem, and founden the enleuene gaderid togidir, and hem that weren with hem,

24:35And thei tolden what thingis weren don in the weie, and hou thei knewen hym in brekyng of breed.
24:36And the while thei spaken these thingis, Jhesus stood in the myddil of hem, and seide to hem, Pees to you; Y am, nyle ye drede.
24:37But thei weren affraied and agast, and gessiden hem to se a spirit.
24:38And he seide to hem, What ben ye troblid, and thouytis comen vp in to youre hertis?
24:39Se ye my hoondis and my feet, for Y my silf am. Fele ye, and se ye; for a spirit hath not fleisch and boonys, as ye seen that Y haue.
24:40And whanne he hadde seid this thing, he schewide hoondis and feet to hem.
24:41And yit while thei bileueden not, and wondriden for ioye, he seide, Han ye here ony thing that schal be etun?
24:42And thei proferden hym a part of a fisch rostid, and an hony combe.
24:43And whanne he hadde etun bifore hem, he took that that lefte, and yaf to hem;
24:44and seide `to hem, These ben the wordis that Y spak to you, whanne Y was yit with you; for it is nede that alle thingis ben fulfillid, that ben writun in the lawe of Moises, and in prophetis, and in salmes, of me.
24:45Thanne he openyde to hem wit, that thei schulden vnderstonde scripturis.
24:46And he seide to hem, For thus it is writun, and thus it bihofte Crist to suffre, and ryse ayen fro deeth in the thridde dai;

24:48And ye ben witnessis of these thingis.
24:49And Y schal sende the biheest of my fadir in to you; but sitte ye in the citee, til that ye be clothid with vertu from an hiy.
24:50And he ledde hem forth in to Betanye, and whanne his hondis weren lift vp, he blesside hem.
24:51And it was don, the while he blesside hem, he departide fro hem, and was borun in to heuene.
24:52And thei worschipiden, and wenten ayen in to Jerusalem with greet ioye,
24:53and weren euermore in the temple, heriynge and blessynge God.

24:1Nowe the first day of the weeke early in the morning, they came vnto the sepulchre, and brought the odours, which they had prepared, and certaine women with them.
24:2And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre,
24:3And went in, but found not the body of the Lord Iesus.
24:4And it came to passe, that as they were amased thereat, beholde, two men suddenly stood by them in shining vestures.
24:5And as they were afraide, and bowed downe their faces to the earth, they sayd to them, Why seeke ye him that liueth, among the dead?
24:6He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake vnto you, when he was yet in Galile,
24:7Saying, that the sonne of man must be deliuered into the hands of sinfull men, and be crucified, and the third day rise againe.
24:8And they remembred his wordes,
24:9And returned from the sepulchre, and tolde all these things vnto the eleuen, and to all the remnant.
24:10Now it was Mary Magdalene, and Ioanna, and Mary the mother of Iames, and other women with them, which tolde these things vnto the Apostles.
24:11But their wordes seemed vnto them, as a fained thing, neither beleeued they them.
24:12Then arose Peter, and ran vnto the sepulchre, and looked in, and saw the linnen clothes laide by themselues, and departed wondering in himselfe at that which was come to passe.
24:13And beholde, two of them went that same day to a towne which was from Hierusalem about threescore furlongs, called Emmaus.
24:14And they talked together of al these things that were done.
24:15And it came to passe, as they communed together, and reasoned, that Iesus himselfe drewe neere, and went with them.
24:16But their eyes were holden, that they could not know him.
24:17And he sayd vnto them, What maner of communications are these that ye haue one to another as ye walke and are sad?
24:18And the one (named Cleopas) answered, and sayd vnto him, Art thou onely a stranger in Hierusalem, and hast not knowen the things which are come to passe therein in these dayes?
24:19And he said vnto them, What things? And they sayd vnto him, Of Iesus of Nazareth, which was a Prophet, mightie in deede and in word before God, and all people,
24:20And howe the hie Priests, and our rulers deliuered him to be condemned to death, and haue crucified him.
24:21But we trusted that it had bene he that should haue deliuered Israel, and as touching all these things, to day is ye third day, that they were done.
24:22Yea, and certaine women among vs made vs astonied, which came early vnto the sepulchre.
24:23And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seene a vision of Angels, which sayd, that he was aliue.
24:24Therefore certaine of them which were with vs, went to the sepulchre, and found it euen so as the women had sayd, but him they saw not.
24:25Then he sayd vnto them, O fooles and slowe of heart to beleeue all that the Prophets haue spoken!
24:26Ought not Christ to haue suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
24:27And he began at Moses, and at all the Prophets, and interpreted vnto them in all the Scriptures the things which were written of him.
24:28And they drew neere vnto ye towne, which they went to, but he made as though hee would haue gone further.
24:29But they constrained him, saying, Abide with vs: for it is towards night, and the day is farre spent. So he went in to tarie with them.
24:30And it came to passe, as hee sate at table with them, he tooke the bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gaue it to them.
24:31Then their eyes were opened, and they knewe him: and he was no more seene of them.
24:32And they saide betweene themselues, Did not our heartes burne within vs, while he talked with vs by the way, and when he opened to vs the Scriptures?
24:33And they rose vp the same houre, and returned to Hierusalem, and found the Eleuen gathered together, and them that were with them,
24:34Which said, The Lord is risen in deede, and hath appeared to Simon.
24:35Then they tolde what things were done in the way, and howe he was knowen of them in breaking of bread.
24:36And as they spake these things, Iesus himselfe stoode in the middes of them, and saide vnto them, Peace be to you.
24:37But they were abashed and afraide, supposing that they had seene a spirit.
24:38Then he saide vnto them, Why are ye troubled? and wherefore doe doutes arise in your hearts?
24:39Beholde mine handes and my feete: for it is I my selfe: handle me, and see: for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me haue.
24:40And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and feete.
24:41And while they yet beleeued not for ioy, and wondred, he saide vnto them, Haue ye here any meate?
24:42And they gaue him a piece of a broyled fish, and of an honie combe,
24:43And hee tooke it, and did eate before them.
24:44And he saide vnto them, These are the wordes, which I spake vnto you while I was yet with you, that all must be fulfilled which are written of me in the Lawe of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalmes.
24:45Then opened he their vnderstanding, that they might vnderstand the Scriptures,
24:46And said vnto them, Thus is it written, and thus it behoued Christ to suffer, and to rise againe from the dead the third day,
24:47And that repentance, and remission of sinnes should be preached in his Name among all nations, beginning at Hierusalem.
24:48Nowe ye are witnesses of these things.
24:49And beholde, I doe sende the promise of my Father vpon you: but tary ye in the citie of Hierusalem, vntill ye be endued with power from an hie.
24:50Afterward he lead them out into Bethania, and lift vp his hands, and blessed them.
24:51And it came to passe, that as he blessed them, he departed from them, and was caried vp into heauen.
24:52And they worshipped him, and returned to Hierusalem with great ioy,
24:53And were continually in the Temple, praysing, and lauding God, Amen.

24:1Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain others with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.
24:2But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.
24:3Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
24:4And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining clothing.
24:5Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?
24:6He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee,
24:7saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.'"
24:8And they remembered His words.
24:9Then they returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.
24:10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women that were with them, who told these things to the apostles.
24:11And their words seemed to them like idle tales, and they did not believe them.
24:12But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by themselves; and departed, marveling to himself at what had happened.
24:13Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was about sixty stadiums from Jerusalem.
24:14And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
24:15So it was, while they conversed and reasoned together, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.
24:16But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him.
24:17And He said to them, "What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?"
24:18Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, "Are You only a stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things that happened there in these days?"
24:19And He said to them, "What things?" So they said to Him, "Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,
24:20and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and have crucified Him.
24:21But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. And besides all this, today is the third day since these things were done.
24:22Yes, and certain women also of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us.
24:23And when they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive.
24:24And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but Him they did not see."
24:25Then He said to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!"
24:26Ought not Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?"
24:27And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
24:28Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther.
24:29But they constrained Him, saying, "Stay with us, because it is close to evening, and the day is far spent." And He went in to stay with them.
24:30Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.
24:31Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.
24:32And they said to one another, "Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?"
24:33So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together,
24:34saying, "The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!"
24:35And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread.
24:36Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "Peace to you."
24:37But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit.
24:38And He said to them, "Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts?"
24:39Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, because a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have."
24:40When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.
24:41But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, "Have you any food here?"
24:42So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.
24:43And He took it and ate in their presence.
24:44Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and in the Prophets and in the Psalms concerning Me."
24:45And He opened their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures.
24:46Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,"
24:47and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."
24:48And you are witnesses of these things."
24:49And behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."
24:50And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.
24:51Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.
24:52And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
24:53and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.
