John - Chapter: 3

>
3:1There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of ye Iewes:
3:2The same came to Iesus by night, and said vnto him, Rabbi, wee know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can doe these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3:3Iesus answered, and said vnto him, Uerily, verily I say vnto thee, except a man be borne againe, he cannot see the kingdome of God.
3:4Nicodemus saith vnto him, How can a man be borne when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mothers wombe, and be borne?
3:5Iesus answered, Uerily, verily I say vnto thee, except a man be borne of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdome of God.
3:6That which is borne of the flesh, is flesh, and that which is borne of the spirit, is spirit.
3:7Marueile not that I saide vnto thee, Ye must be borne againe.
3:8The winde bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tel whence it commeth, and whither it goeth: So is euery one that is borne of the Spirit.
3:9Nicodemus answered, and said vnto him, How can these things be?
3:10Iesus answered, and saide vnto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
3:11Uerely, verely I say vnto thee, We speake that we doe know, and testifie that wee haue seene; and yee receiue not our witnesse.
3:12If I haue tolde you earthly things, and ye beleeue not: how shall ye beleeue if I tell you of heauenly things?
3:13And no man hath ascended vp to heauen, but hee that came downe from heauen, euen the Sonne of man which is in heauen.
3:14And as Moses lifted vp the serpent in the wildernesse: euen so must the Sonne of man be lifted vp:
3:15That whosoeuer beleeueth in him, should not perish, but haue eternall life.
3:16For God so loued ye world, that he gaue his only begotten Sonne: that whosoeuer beleeueth in him, should not perish, but haue euerlasting life.
3:17For God sent not his Sonne into the world to condemne the world: but that the world through him might be saued.
3:18He that beleeueth on him, is not condemned: but hee that beleeueth not, is condemned already, because hee hath not beleeued in the Name of the onely begotten Sonne of God.
3:19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loued darknesse rather then light, because their deedes were euill.
3:20For euery one that doeth euill, hateth the light, neither commeth to the light, lest his deeds should be reproued.
3:21But hee that doeth trueth, commeth to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
3:22After these things, came Iesus and his disciples into the land of Iudea, and there hee taried with them, and baptized.
3:23And Iohn also was baptizing in Aenon, neere to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
3:24For Iohn was not yet cast into prison.
3:25Then there arose a question between some of Iohns disciples and the Iewes, about purifying.
3:26And they came vnto Iohn, and said vnto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Iordane, to whom thou barest witnesse, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.
3:27Iohn answered, and said, A man can receiue nothing, except it be giuen him from heauen.
3:28Ye your selues beare me witnesse, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
3:29He that hath the bride, is the bridegrome: but the friend of the bridegrome, which standeth and heareth him, reioyceth greatly because of the bridegromes voice: This my ioy therefore is fulfilled.
3:30Hee must increase, but I must decrease.
3:31Hee that commeth from aboue, is aboue all: hee that is of the earth, is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: hee that cometh from heauen is aboue all:
3:32And what hee hath seene and heard, that he testifieth, and no man receiueth his testimony:
3:33He that hath receiued his testimonie, hath set to his seale, that God is true.
3:34For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: For God giueth not the Spirit by measure vnto him.
3:35The Father loueth the Sonne, and hath giuen al things into his hand.
3:36He that beleeueth on the Sonne, hath euerlasting life: and he that beleeueth not the Sonne, shall not see life: but the wrath of God abideth on him.

3:1There was a man of the Pharises, named Nicodemus a ruler amoge the Iewes.
3:2The same came vnto Iesus by night, & sayde vnto hi: Master, we knowe yt thou art come a teacher fro God: for no ma can do these tokes yt thou doest, excepte God be with him.
3:3Iesus answered, and sayde vnto him: Verely verely I saye vnto the: Excepte a man be borne a new, he can not se the kyngdome of God.
3:4Nicodemus sayde vnto him: How can a man be borne, whan he is olde? Can he entre into his mothers wombe, and be borne agayne?
3:5Iesus answered: Verely verely I saye vnto the: Excepte a ma be borne of water and of the sprete, he can not come in to ye kyngdome of God.
3:6That which is borne of flesh, is flesh: & that which is borne of the sprete, is sprete.
3:7Maruell not, that I sayde vnto ye: Ye must be borne of new.
3:8The wynde bloweth where he wyl, and thou hearest his sounde: but thou canst not tell whece he commeth, and whither he goeth. So is euery one, that is borne of the sprete.
3:9Nicodemus answered, and sayde vnto him: How maye these be?
3:10Iesus answered, & sayde vnto hi: Art thou a Master in Israel, & knowest not these?
3:11Verely I saye vnto ye: We speake that we knowe, and testifie that we haue sene, and ye receaue not oure wytnesse.
3:12Yf ye beleue not whan I tell you of earthly thinges, how shulde ye beleue, wha I speake vnto you of heauenly thinges?
3:13And no man ascendeth vp in to heauen, but he that is come downe from heaue, (namely) the sonne of man which is in heauen.
3:14And like as Moses lift vp the serpent in the wyldernes, euen so must the sonne of man be lift vp,
3:15that who so euer beleueth in him, shulde not perish, but haue euerlastinge life.
3:16For God so loued the worlde, that he gaue his onely sonne, that who so euer beleueth in hi, shulde not perishe, but haue euerlastinge life.
3:17For God sent not his sonne in to ye worlde to condempne the worlde, but that the worlde might be saued by him.
3:18He that beleueth on him, shal not be codemned. But he that beleueth not, is codemned allready: because he beleueth not on the name of the onely sonne of God.
3:19But this is ye codempnacion, that the light is come in to the worlde, and men loued the darknesse more the ye light: for their workes were euell.
3:20Whosoeuer doth euell, hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, that his dedes shulde not be reproued.
3:21But he that doth the trueth, commeth to the light, that his workes maye be knowne: for they are done in God.
3:22Afterwarde came Iesus & his disciples in to the lode of Iewry, and had his beynge there with them, and baptysed
3:23Ihon baptysed also in Enon besyde Salem: for there was moch water there. And they came thither, and were baptysed:
3:24for Iohn was not yet put in preson.
3:25Then arose there a question amonge the disciples of Ihon with the Iewes aboute the purifienge,
3:26and they came vnto Ihon, and sayde vnto him: Master, he yt was with the beyonde Iordan, of whom thou barest wytnesse, beholde, he baptyseth, and euery man cometh vnto him.
3:27Ihon answered and sayde: A man can receaue nothinge, excepte it be geuen him from heaue.
3:28Ye youreselues are my witnesses, how that I sayde, I am not Christ, but am sent before him.
3:29He that hath the bryde, is the brydegrome: but the frende of the brydegrome stondeth, and herkeneth vnto him, and reioyseth greatly ouer the voyce of the brydegrome, this same ioye of myne is now fulfilled.
3:30He must increace, but I must decreace.
3:31He that commeth from an hye, is aboue all. He that is of the earth, is earthly, and speaketh of the earth. He that commeth fro heauen, is aboue all,
3:32and testifieth what he hath sene & herde, and no man receaueth his wytnesse.
3:33But he that receaueth it, hath set to his seale, that God is true.
3:34For he who God hath sent, speaketh ye wordes of God: for God geueth not the sprete (vnto him) by measure.
3:35The father loueth the sonne, and hath geuen him all thinges in to his hande.
3:36He that beleueth on the sonne, hath euerlastinge life: he that beleueth not the sonne, shal not se the life, but ye wrath of God abydeth vpon him.

3:1And there was a man of the Farisees, Nychodeme bi name, a prince of the Jewis.
3:2And he cam to Jhesu bi niyt, and seide to hym, Rabi, we witen, that thou art comun fro God maister; for no man may do these signes, that thou doist, but God be with hym.
3:3Jhesus answerde, and seide to hym, Treuli, treuli, Y seie to thee, but a man be borun ayen, he may not se the kyngdom of God.
3:4Nychodeme seide to hym, Hou may a man be borun, whanne he is eeld? whether he may entre ayen in to his modris wombe, and be borun ayen?
3:5Jhesus answeride, Treuli, treuli, Y seie to thee, but a man be borun ayen of watir, and of the Hooli Goost, he may not entre in to the kyngdom of God.
3:6`That that is borun of the fleisch, is fleisch; and `that that is borun of spirit, is spirit.
3:7Wondre thou not, for Y seide to thee, It bihoueth you to be borun ayen.
3:8The spirit brethith where he wole, and thou herist his vois, but thou wost not, fro whennus he cometh, ne whidir he goith; so is ech man that is borun of the spirit.
3:9Nychodeme answeride, and seide to hym, Hou moun these thingis be don?
3:10Jhesus answeride, and seide to hym, Thou art a maister in Israel, and knowist not these thingis?
3:11Treuli, treuli, Y seie to thee, for we speken that that we witen, and we witnessen that that we han seyn, and ye taken not oure witnessyng.
3:12If Y haue seid to you ertheli thingis, and ye bileuen not, hou if Y seie to you heueneli thingis, schulen ye bileue?
3:13And no man stieth in to heuene, but he that cam doun fro heuene, mannys sone that is in heuene.
3:14And as Moises areride a serpent in desert, so it bihoueth mannys sone to be reisid,
3:15that ech man that bileueth in hym, perische not, but haue euerlastynge lijf.
3:16For God louede so the world, that he yaf his `oon bigetun sone, that ech man that bileueth in him perische not, but haue euerlastynge lijf.
3:17For God sente not his sone in to the world, that he iuge the world, but that the world be saued bi him.
3:18He that bileueth in hym, is not demed; but he that bileueth not, is now demed, for he bileueth not in the name of the `oon bigetun sone of God.
3:19And this is the dom, for liyt cam in to the world, and men loueden more derknessis than liyt; for her werkes weren yuele.
3:20For ech man that doith yuele, hatith the liyt; and he cometh not to the liyt, that hise werkis be not repreued.
3:21But he that doith treuthe, cometh to the liyt, that hise werkis be schewid, that thei ben don in God.
3:22Aftir these thingis Jhesus cam, and hise disciplis, in to the loond of Judee, and there he dwellide with hem, and baptiside.
3:23And Joon was baptisinge in Ennon, bisidis Salym, for many watris weren there; and thei camen, and weren baptisid.
3:24And Joon was not yit sent in to prisoun.
3:25Therfor a questioun was maad of Jonys disciplis with the Jewis, of the purificacioun.
3:26And thei camen to Joon, and seiden `to hym, Maister, he that was with thee biyonde Jordan, to whom thou hast borun witnessyng, lo! he baptisith, and alle men comen to hym.
3:27Joon answerde, and seide, A man may not take ony thing, but it be youun to hym fro heuene.
3:28Ye you silf beren witnessyng to me, that Y seide, Y am not Crist, but that Y am sent bifore hym.
3:29He that hath a wijf, is the hosebonde; but the freend of the spouse that stondith, and herith hym, ioieth with ioye, for the vois of the spouse. Therfor in this thing my ioye is fulfillid.
3:30It bihoueth hym to wexe, but me to be maad lesse.
3:31He that cam from aboue, is aboue alle; he that is of the erthe, spekith of the erthe; he that cometh from heuene, is aboue alle.
3:32And he witnessith that thing that he hath seie, and herde, and no man takith his witnessing.
3:33But he that takith his witnessyng, hath confermyd that God is sothefast.
3:34But he whom God hath sent, spekith the wordis of God; for not to mesure God yyueth the spirit.
3:35The fadir loueth the sone, and he hath youun alle thingis in his hoond.
3:36He that bileueth in the sone, hath euerlastynge lijf; but he that is vnbileueful to the sone, schal not se euerlastynge lijf, but the wraththe of God dwellith on hym.
