John - Chapter: 7

>
7:1And he seide this of Judas of Symount Scarioth, for this was to bitraye hym, whanne he was oon of the twelue.
7:2Aftir these thingis Jhesus walkide in to Galilee, for he wolde not walke in to Judee, for the Jewis souyten to sle hym.
7:3And ther was neiy a feeste dai of the Jewis, Senofegia.
7:4And hise britheren seiden to hym, Passe fro hennus, and go in to Judee, that also thi disciplis seen thi werkis that thou doist;
7:5for no man doith ony thing in hiddlis, and hym silf sekith to be opyn. If thou doist these thingis, schewe thi silf to the world.
7:6For nether hise britheren bileueden in hym.
7:7Therfor Jhesus seith to hem, My tyme cam not yit, but youre tyme is euermore redi.
7:8The world may not hate you, sothely it hatith me; for Y bere witnessyng therof, that the werkis of it ben yuele.
7:9Go ye vp to this feeste dai, but Y schal not go vp to this feeste dai, for my tyme is not yit fulfillid.
7:10Whanne he hadde seid these thingis, he dwelte in Galilee.
7:11And aftir that hise britheren weren gon vp, thanne he yede vp to the feeste dai, not opynli, but as in priuyte.
7:12Therfor the Jewis souyten hym in the feeste dai, and seiden, Where is he?
7:13And myche grutchyng was of hym among the puple. For summe seiden, That he is good; and othere seiden, Nai, but he disceyueth the puple;
7:14netheles no man spak opynli of hym, for drede of the Jewis.
7:15But whanne the myddil feeste dai cam, Jhesus wente vp in to the temple, and tauyte.
7:16And the Jewis wondriden, and seiden, Hou can this man lettris, sithen he hath not lerned?
7:17Jhesus answerde to hem, and seide, My doctryne is not myn, but his that sente me.
7:18If ony man wole do his wille, he schal knowe of the techyng, whethir it be of God, or Y speke of my silf.
7:19He that spekith of hym silf, sekith his owne glorie; but he that sekith the glorie of hym that sente hym, is sothefast, and vnriytwisnesse is not in hym.
7:20Whether Moises yaf not to you a lawe, and noon of you doith the lawe?
7:21What seken ye to sle me? And the puple answerde, and seide, Thou hast a deuel; who sekith to sle thee?
7:22Jhesus answerde, and seide to hem, Y haue don o werk, and alle ye wondren.
7:23Therfor Moises yaf to you circumcisioun; not for it is of Moyses, but of the fadris; and in the sabat ye circumciden a man.
7:24If a man take circumcicioun in the sabat, that the lawe of Moises be not brokun, han ye indignacioun to me, for Y made al a man hool in the sabat?
7:25Nile ye deme aftir the face, but deme ye a riytful doom.
7:26Therfor summe of Jerusalem seiden, Whethir this is not he, whom the Jewis seken to sle?
7:27and lo! he spekith opynli, and thei seien no thing to hym. Whether the princes knewen verili, that this is Crist?
7:28But we knowun this man, of whennus he is; but whanne Crist schal come, no man woot of whennus he is.
7:29Therfor Jhesus criede in the temple `techynge, and seide, Ye knowen me, and `ye knowen of whennus Y am; and Y cam not of my silf, but he is trewe that sente me, whom ye knowen not.
7:30Y knowe hym, and if Y seie that Y knowe hym not, Y schal be lijk to you, a liere; but Y knowe hym, for of hym Y am, and he sente me.
7:31Therfor thei souyten to take hym, and no man sette on hym hoondis, for his our cam not yit.
7:32And many of the puple bileueden in hym, and seiden, Whanne Crist schal come, whether he schal do mo tokenes, than tho that this doith?
7:33Farisees herden the puple musinge of hym these thingis; and the princis and Farisees senten mynystris, to take hym.
7:34Therfor Jhesus seide to hem, Yit a litil tyme Y am with you, and Y go to the fadir, that sente me.
7:35Ye schulen seke me, and ye schulen not fynde; and where Y am, ye may not come.
7:36Therfor the Jewis seiden to hem silf, Whidur schal this gon, for we schulen not fynde hym? whether he wole go in to the scateryng of hethene men, and wole teche the hethene?
7:37What is this word, which he seide, Ye schulen seke me, and ye schulen not fynde; and where Y am, ye moun not come?
7:38But in the laste dai of the greet feeste, Jhesus stood, and criede, and seide, If ony man thirstith, come he to me, and drynke.
7:39He that bileueth in me, as the scripture seith, Floodis of quyk watir schulen flowe fro his wombe.
7:40But he seide this thing of the Spirit, whom men that bileueden in hym schulden take; for the Spirit was not yit youun, for Jhesus was not yit glorified.
7:41Therfor of that cumpanye, whanne thei hadden herd these wordis of hym, thei seiden, This is verili a prophete.
7:42Othere seiden, This is Crist. `But summe seiden, Whether Crist cometh fro Galilee?
7:43Whether the scripture seith not, that of the seed of Dauid, and of the castel of Bethleem, where Dauid was, Crist cometh?
7:44Therfor discencioun was maad among the puple for hym.
7:45For summe of hem wolden haue take hym, but no man sette hondis on hym.
7:46Therfor the mynystris camen to bischopis and Farisees, and thei seiden to hem, Whi brouyten ye not hym?
7:47The mynystris answeriden, Neuere man spak so, as this man spekith.
7:48Therfor the Farisees answeriden to hem, Whether ye ben disseyued also?
7:49whether ony of the pryncis or of the Farisees bileueden in hym?
7:50But this puple, that knowith not the lawe, ben cursid.
7:51Nychodeme seith to hem, he that cam to hym bi nyyt, that was oon of hem, Whethir oure lawe demith a man,
7:52but it haue first herde of hym, and knowe what he doith?
7:53Thei answeriden, and seiden to hym, Whether thou art a man of Galilee also? Seke thou scripturis, and se thou, that a prophete risith not of Galilee.

7:1After these things, Iesus walked in Galile, and woulde not walke in Iudea: for the Iewes sought to kill him.
7:2Nowe the Iewes feast of the Tabernacles was at hande.
7:3His brethren therefore sayde vnto him, Depart hence, and goe into Iudea, that thy disciples may see thy woorkes that thou doest.
7:4For there is no man that doeth any thing secretely, and hee himselfe seeketh to be famous. If thou doest these things, shewe thy selfe to the worlde.
7:5For as yet his brethren beleeued not in him.
7:6Then Iesus saide vnto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway readie.
7:7The world can not hate you: but me it hateth, because I testifie of it, that the workes thereof are euill.
7:8Go ye vp vnto this feast: I wil not go vp yet vnto this feast: for my time is not yet fulfilled.
7:9These things he sayde vnto them, and abode still in Galile.
7:10But assoone as his brethren were gone vp, then went hee also vp vnto the feast, not openly, but as it were priuilie.
7:11Then the Iewes sought him at the feast, and saide, Where is hee?
7:12And much murmuring was there of him among the people. Some said, He is a good man: other sayd, Nay: but he deceiueth the people.
7:13Howbeit no man spake openly of him for feare of the Iewes.
7:14Nowe when halfe the feast was done, Iesus went vp into the Temple and taught.
7:15And the Iewes marueiled, saving, Howe knoweth this man the Scriptures, seeing that hee neuer learned!
7:16Iesus answered them, and saide, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
7:17If any man will doe his will, he shall knowe of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speake of my selfe.
7:18Hee that speaketh of himselfe, seeketh his owne glorie: but hee that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no vnrighteousnes is in him.
7:19Did not Moses giue you a Law, and yet none of you keepeth the lawe? Why goe ye about to kill me?
7:20The people answered, and said, Thou hast a deuil: who goeth about to kill thee?
7:21Iesus answered, and saide to them, I haue done one worke, and ye all maruaile.
7:22Moses therefore gaue vnto you circumcision, (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers) and ye on the Sabbath day circumcise a man.
7:23If a man on the Sabbath receiue circumcision, that the Lawe of Moses should not be broken, be ye angrie with me, because I haue made a man euery whit whole on the Sabbath day?
7:24Iudge not according to the appearance, but iudge righteous iudgement.
7:25Then saide some of them of Hierusalem, Is not this he, whom they goe about to kill?
7:26And beholde, he speaketh openly, and they say nothing to him: doe the rulers know in deede that this is in deede that Christ?
7:27Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when that Christ commeth, no man shall knowe whence he is.
7:28Then cried Iesus in the Temple as hee taught, saying, Ye both knowe mee, and knowe whence I am: yet am I not come of my selfe, but he that sent me, is true, whome ye knowe not.
7:29But I knowe him: for I am of him, and he hath sent me.
7:30Then they sought to take him, but no man layde handes on him, because his houre was not yet come.
7:31Now many of the people beleeued in him, and said, When that Christ commeth, will he doe moe miracles then this man hath done?
7:32The Pharises heard that the people murmured these thinges of him, and the Pharises, and high Priestes sent officers to take him.
7:33Then saide Iesus vnto them, Yet am I a little while with you, and then goe I vnto him that sent mee.
7:34Ye shall seeke me, and shall not finde me, and where I am, can ye not come.
7:35Then saide the Iewes amongs themselues, Whither will he goe, that we shall not finde him? Will he goe vnto them that are dispersed among the Grecians, and teache the Grecians?
7:36What saying is this that hee saide, Ye shall seeke mee, and shall not finde mee? and where I am, cannot ye come?
7:37Nowe in the last and great day of the feast, Iesus stoode and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come vnto me, and drinke.
7:38Hee that beleeueth in mee, as saith the Scripture, out of his bellie shall flowe riuers of water of life.
7:39(This spake hee of the Spirite which they that beleeued in him, should receiue: for the holy Ghost was not yet giuen, because that Iesus was not yet glorified.)
7:40So many of the people, when they heard this saying, said, Of a trueth this is that Prophet.
7:41Other saide, This is that Christ: and some said, But shall that Christ come out of Galile?
7:42Saith not the Scripture that that Christ shall come of the seede of Dauid, and out of the towne of Beth-leem, where Dauid was?
7:43So was there dissension among the people for him.
7:44And some of them would haue taken him, but no man layde handes on him.
7:45Then came the officers to the hie Priests and Pharises, and they said vnto them, Why haue ye not brought him?
7:46The officers answered, Neuer man spake like this man.
7:47Then answered them the Pharises, Are yee also deceiued?
7:48Doeth any of the rulers, or of the Pharises beleeue in him?
7:49But this people, which know not the Law, are cursed.
7:50Nicodemus said vnto them, (he that came to Iesus by night, and was one of them.)
7:51Doth our Law iudge a man before it heare him, and knowe what he hath done?
7:52They answered, and said vnto him, Art thou also of Galile? Searche and looke: for out of Galile ariseth no Prophet.
7:53And euery man wet vnto his owne house.

7:1After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; because, He did not want to walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.
7:2Now the Jews' Feast of Tabernacles was at hand.
7:3His brethren therefore said to Him, "Depart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You are doing.
7:4Because, no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world."
7:5Because even His brethren did not believe in Him.
7:6Then Jesus said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready."
7:7The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil."
7:8You go up to this feast. I am not going up to this feast yet, because My time has not yet fully come."
7:9When He had said these words to them, He remained in Galilee.
7:10But when His brethren had gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
7:11Then the Jews sought Him at the feast, and said, "Where is He?"
7:12And there was much murmuring among the people concerning Him. Because, some said, "He is a good Man"; others said, "No, but He deceives the people."
7:13However, no one spoke openly of Him for fear of the Jews.
7:14Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
7:15And the Jews marveled, saying, "How does this Man know letters, having never studied?"
7:16Jesus answered them and said, "My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me."
7:17If anyone will do His will, he will know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak from Myself."
7:18He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him."
7:19Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill Me?"
7:20The people answered and said, "You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill You?"
7:21Jesus answered and said to them, "I did one work, and you all marvel."
7:22Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath day."
7:23If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath day, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath day?"
7:24Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."
7:25Now some of them from Jerusalem said, "Is this not He whom they seek to kill?
7:26But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. Do the rulers actually know that this is truly the Christ?
7:27However, we know where this Man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one knows where He is from."
7:28Then Jesus shouted, as He taught in the temple, saying, "You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know."
7:29But I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me."
7:30Therefore they sought to take Him; but no one laid hands on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
7:31And many of the people believed on Him, and said, "When the Christ comes, will He do more miracles than these which this Man has done?"
7:32The Pharisees heard the people murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him.
7:33Then Jesus said to them, "I will be with you a little while longer, and then I go to Him who sent Me."
7:34You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am, there you cannot come."
7:35Then the Jews said among themselves, "Where does He intend to go that we will not find Him? Does He intend to go to the Dispersion among the Gentiles and teach the Gentiles?
7:36What is this thing that He said, 'You shall seek Me and not find Me, and where I am, there you cannot come'?"
7:37During the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and shouted saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink."
7:38He who believes on Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his belly will flow rivers of living water."
7:39But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing on Him would receive; because, the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
7:40Therefore many from the people, when they heard this saying, said, "Truly this is the Prophet."
7:41Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "Shall the Christ come out of Galilee?
7:42Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?"
7:43So there was a division among the people because of Him.
7:44Now some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him.
7:45Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why have you not brought Him?"
7:46The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this Man!"
7:47Then the Pharisees replied to them, "Are you also deceived?
7:48Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed on Him?
7:49But these people that do not know the law are accursed."
7:50Nicodemus (he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them,
7:51"Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?"
7:52They answered and said to him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, because no prophet has arisen out of Galilee."
7:53And everyone went to his own house.
