John - Chapter: 10

>
10:1`Verily, verily, I say to you, He who is not entering through the door to the fold of the sheep, but is going up from another side, that one is a thief and a robber;
10:2and he who is entering through the door is shepherd of the sheep;
10:3to this one the doorkeeper doth open, and the sheep hear his voice, and his own sheep he doth call by name, and doth lead them forth;
10:4and when his own sheep he may put forth, before them he goeth on, and the sheep follow him, because they have known his voice;
10:5and a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him, because they have not known the voice of strangers.'
10:6This similitude spake Jesus to them, and they knew not what the things were that he was speaking to them;
10:7Jesus said therefore again to them, `Verily, verily, I say to you -- I am the door of the sheep;
10:8all, as many as came before me, are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them;
10:9I am the door, through me if any one may come in, he shall be saved, and he shall come in, and go out, and find pasture.
10:10`The thief doth not come, except that he may steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they may have life, and may have `it' abundantly.
10:11`I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd his life layeth down for the sheep;
10:12and the hireling, and not being a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, doth behold the wolf coming, and doth leave the sheep, and doth flee; and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep;
10:13and the hireling doth flee because he is an hireling, and is not caring for the sheep.
10:14`I am the good shepherd, and I know my `sheep', and am known by mine,
10:15according as the Father doth know me, and I know the Father, and my life I lay down for the sheep,
10:16and other sheep I have that are not of this fold, these also it behoveth me to bring, and my voice they will hear, and there shall become one flock -- one shepherd.
10:17`Because of this doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that again I may take it;
10:18no one doth take it from me, but I lay it down of myself; authority I have to lay it down, and authority I have again to take it; this command I received from my Father.'
10:19Therefore, again, there came a division among the Jews, because of these words,
10:20and many of them said, `He hath a demon, and is mad, why do ye hear him?'
10:21others said, `These sayings are not those of a demoniac; is a demon able blind men's eyes to open?'
10:22And the dedication in Jerusalem came, and it was winter,
10:23and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the porch of Solomon,
10:24the Jews, therefore, came round about him, and said to him, `Till when our soul dost thou hold in suspense? if thou art the Christ, tell us freely.'
10:25Jesus answered them, `I told you, and ye do not believe; the works that I do in the name of my Father, these testify concerning me;
10:26but ye do not believe, for ye are not of my sheep,
10:27according as I said to you: My sheep my voice do hear, and I know them, and they follow me,
10:28and life age-during I give to them, and they shall not perish -- to the age, and no one shall pluck them out of my hand;
10:29my Father, who hath given to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to pluck out of the hand of my Father;
10:30I and the Father are one.'
10:31Therefore, again, did the Jews take up stones that they may stone him;
10:32Jesus answered them, `Many good works did I shew you from my Father; because of which work of them do ye stone me?'
10:33The Jews answered him, saying, `For a good work we do not stone thee, but for evil speaking, and because thou, being a man, dost make thyself God.'
10:34Jesus answered them, `Is it not having been written in your law: I said, ye are gods?
10:35if them he did call gods unto whom the word of God came, (and the Writing is not able to be broken,)
10:36of him whom the Father did sanctify, and send to the world, do ye say -- Thou speakest evil, because I said, Son of God I am?
10:37if I do not the works of my Father, do not believe me;
10:38and if I do, even if me ye may not believe, the works believe, that ye may know and may believe that in me `is' the Father, and I in Him.'
10:39Therefore were they seeking again to seize him, and he went forth out of their hand,
10:40and went away again to the other side of the Jordan, to the place where John was at first baptizing, and remained there,
10:41and many came unto him, and said -- `John, indeed, did no sign, and all things, as many as John said about this one were true;'
10:42and many did believe in him there.

10:1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
10:2But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
10:3To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
10:4And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
10:5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
10:6This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
10:7Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
10:8All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
10:9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10:10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
10:11I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
10:12But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
10:13The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
10:14I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
10:15As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
10:16And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
10:17Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
10:18No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
10:19There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
10:20And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
10:21Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
10:22And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
10:23And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
10:24Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
10:25Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
10:26But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
10:27My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
10:28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
10:29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
10:30I and my Father are one.
10:31Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
10:32Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
10:33The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
10:34Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
10:35If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
10:36Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
10:37If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
10:38But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
10:39Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
10:40And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
10:41And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.
10:42And many believed on him there.

10:1Truly, truly, I say to you, the one not entering through the door into the sheepfold, but going up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber.
10:2But the one entering through the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
10:3The doorkeeper opens to him, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
10:4And when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes in front of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.
10:5But they never follow a stranger, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of the strangers.
10:6Jesus spoke this allegory to them, but they did not know what it was which He spoke to them.
10:7Then Jesus again said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you that I am the door of the sheep.
10:8All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.
10:9I am the door. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in, and will go out, and will find pasture.
10:10The thief does not come except that he may steal, and kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life and may have it abundantly.
10:11I am the Good Shepherd! The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
10:12But the hireling, not even being a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and forsakes the sheep and flees. And the wolf seizes them, and scatters the sheep.
10:13But the hireling flees because he is a hireling, and there is not a care to him concerning the sheep.
10:14I am the Good Shepherd, and I know those that are Mine, and I am known by the ones that are Mine.
10:15Even as the Father knows Me, I also know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
10:16And I have other sheep which are not of this fold. I must also lead those, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock, one Shepherd.
10:17For this reason My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life, that I may take it again.
10:18No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down from Myself. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it again. I received this commandment from My Father.
10:19Then a division occurred again among the Jews, because of these words.
10:20And many of them said, He has a demon and is insane. Why do you hear him?
10:21Others said, These are not words of one having been possessed by a demon. A demon is not able to open the eyes of blind ones.
10:22And the Feast of Dedication took place in Jerusalem, and it was winter.
10:23And Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon's Porch.
10:24Then the Jews encircled Him, and said to Him, How long do you lift up our soul? If you are the Christ, tell us publicly.
10:25Jesus answered them, I told you, and you did not believe. The works which I do in the name of My Father, these bear witness about Me.
10:26But you do not believe for you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.
10:27My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
10:28And I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish to the age, and not anyone shall pluck them out of My hand.
10:29My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all, and no one is able to pluck out of My Father's hand.
10:30I and the Father are one!
10:31Then again the Jews took up stones, that they might stone Him.
10:32Jesus answered them, I showed you many good works from My Father. For which work of them do you stone Me?
10:33The Jews answered Him, saying, We do not stone you concerning a good work, but concerning blasphemy; and because you, being a man, make yourself God.
10:34Jesus answered them, Has it not been written in your Law, "I said, you are gods"? Psa. 82:6
10:35If He called those gods with whom the Word of God was, and the Scripture cannot be broken,
10:36do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, You blaspheme, because I said, I am Son of God?
10:37If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me.
10:38But if I do, even if you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may perceive and may believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.
10:39Then again they sought to seize Him. And He went forth out of their hand.
10:40And He went away again across the Jordan to the place where was at first baptizing and remained there.
10:41And many came to Him and said, indeed did no miracle, but all things that said concerning this One were true.
10:42And many believed into Him there.
