12:1	Then Iesus .vi. dayes before Easter, came to Bethanye where Lazarus was which was dead, and whom Iesus raysed from death.
12:2	There they made hym a supper, & Martha serued: but Lazarus was one of them that sate at the table with hym.
12:3	Then toke Mary a pounde of oyntment called Nardus, perfecte and precyous, and annoynted Iesus fete, and wepte hys fete with her heare, and the house was fylled wyth the sauoure of the oyntmente.
12:4	Then sayed one of hys disciples named Iudas Iscarioth Simons sonne. whiche afterwarde betrayed him:
12:5	why was not thys oyntment solde for thre .C. pens and geuen to the poore?
12:6	Thys sayed he, not that he cared for the poore, but because he was a thiefe, and kepte the bagge, and bare that whiche was geuen.
12:7	Then sayed Iesus Let her alone, agaynste the daye of my buriynge the kept it.
12:8	The poore alwayes shall ye haue with you, but me shall ye not alwayes haue.
12:9	Muche people of the Iewes had knoweledge that he was there, & they came not for Iesus sake onely, but that they myghte se Lazarus also whom he raysed from death:
12:10	The hye priestes therfore helde a counsel, that they myght put Lazarus to death also,
12:11	because that for hys sake many of the Iewes went away, and beleued on Iesus.
12:12	On the morowe muche people that were come to the feast, when they hearde that Iesus shoulde come to Hierusalem,
12:13	toke braunches of palme trees, and went and met hym, and cryed: Hosanna, blessed is he that in the name of the Lorde cometh kynge of Israell.
12:14	And Iesus gotte a yong asse, and sate theron, accordynge to that which was wrytten,
12:15	feare not doughter of Syon, beholde thy kynge cometh, sittynge on an asses colte.
12:16	These thinges vnderstode not hys discyples at the fyrst: but when Iesus was glorifyed, then remembred they that suche thynges were written of him, and that suche thynges they had done vnto hym.
12:17	The people that was with hym, when he called Lazarus out of hys graue, and raysed hym from death, bare recorde.
12:18	Therfore met hym the people, because they hearde that he had done suche a myracle.
12:19	The Phariseis therfore sayed amonge them selues: perceyue ye howe we preuayle nothing? beholde the worlde goeth awaye after hym.
12:20	There were certayne Grekes among them, that came to praye at the feaste:
12:21	the same came to Phylyppe which was of Bethsayda a citie in Galile, and desiered hym, saiynge: Syr we woulde fayne se Iesus.
12:22	Phylip came and told Andrewe. And agayne Andrewe and Philip tolde Iesus.
12:23	And Iesus aunswered them sayinge: The houre is come that the sonne of man must be glorifyed.
12:24	Verelye verelye I saye to you, excepte the wheate corne fall into the grounde and dye, it bydeth alone. If it dye, it bringeth forth much frute.
12:25	He that loueth hys lyfe, shall destroy it: and he that hateth hys lyfe in this world, shal kepe it vnto lyfe eternall.
12:26	If any man minister vnto me, let hym folowe me, and where I am, there shal also my minister be. And yf any man minister vnto me, hym wyll my father honoure.
12:27	Nowe is my soule troubled, and what shal I saye? Father delyuer me from thys houre: but therfore came I vnto thys houre.
12:28	Father, glorifye thy name. Then came there a voyce from heauen: I haue glorifyed it, and wil glorifye it agayne.
12:29	Then sayde the people that stode by, and hearde: it thoundreth, Other sayd an angell spake to him.
12:30	Iesus aunswered and sayed: thys voyce came, not because of me, but for your sakes.
12:31	Now is the iudgement of thys world: now shall the prince of thys worlde be caste oute.
12:32	And I, yf I were lyft vp from the earth, will drawe all men vnto me.
12:33	This sayde Iesus, signifyenge what death he shoulde dye.
12:34	The people aunswered hym: We haue hearde oute of the lawe, that Christe bydeth euer: and howe sayest thou then that the sonne of man muste be lyfte vp? who is that sonne of man?
12:35	Then Iesus sayed vnto them: yet a lyttell whyle is the lyght with you. Walke, whyle ye haue lyght, lest the darcknes come on you. He that walketh in the darcke, woteth not whether he goeth.
12:36	Whyle ye haue lyghte, beleue on the lyght, that ye maye be the chyldren of light. These thynges spake Iesus, and departed, and hyd hym selfe from them.
12:37	And though he had done so many myracles before them, yet beleued not they on hym,
12:38	that the saiynge of Esayas the Prophete myght be fulfylled, that he spake. Lorde, who shall beleue our saiyng? And to whome is the arme of the Lorde opened?
12:39	Therfore coulde they not beleue, because that Esayas sayth agayne:
12:40	he hath blynded theyr eyes and hardened theyr hertes, that they shoulde not se with theyr eyes, and vnderstand with theyr hertes, and shoulde be conuerted, and I shoulde heale them.
12:41	Such thynges said Esayas when he sawe hys glorye, and spake of hym.
12:42	Neuerthelesse among the chief rulers many beleued on hym. But because of that Pharyses they woulde not be a knowen of it, least they shoulde be excommunicate,
12:43	for they loued the prayse, that is geuen of men, more then the prayse that commeth of God.
12:44	And Iesus cryed and sayde: he that beleueth on me, beleueth not on me, but on hym that sente me.
12:45	And he that seeth me, seeth hym that sent me.
12:46	I am come a lyght into the worlde, that whosoeuer beleueth on me, shoulde not byde in darknes.
12:47	And yf anye man heare my wordes, & beleue not, I iudge him not. For I came not to iudge the worlde, but to saue the worlde.
12:48	He that refuseth me, and receiueth not my wordes, hath one that iudgeth hym. The wordes that I haue spoken, they shall iudge hym in the laste day.
12:49	For I haue not spoken of my selfe: but the father which sent me, he gaue me a commaundement what I shoulde say, & what I should speake.
12:50	And I knowe that thys commaundement is lyfe euerlasting. Whatsoeuer I speake therfore, euen as the father bade me, so I speake.

12:4	Then sayd one of his disciples: (euen Iudas Iscarioth Simons sonne, which afterward betrayed him)
12:5	why was not this oyntement solde for thre hundred pence, and geuen to the poore?
12:6	This he sayd, not that he cared for the pore but because he was a thefe, and had the bagge, & bare that which was geuen.
12:7	Then sayd Iesus: Let her alone, against the daye of my buryinge hath she kept this.
12:8	For the poore allwayes shall ye haue with you, but me haue ye not allwaye.
12:9	Moche people of the Iewes therfore had knowledge that he was ther. And they came not for Iesus sake onely, but that they myghte se Lazarus also whom he raysed from death.
12:10	But the hye prestes helde a councell, that they myght put Lazarus to death also,
12:11	because that for his sake many of the Iewes went awaye and beleued on Iesus.
12:12	On the next daye moch people that were come to the feaste, when they hearde that Iesus shuld come to Ierusalem,
12:13	toke braunches of palme trees, and went forth to mete hym, and cryed: Hosanna, blessed is he that in the name of the Lorde, commeth Kyng of Israell.
12:14	And Iesus got a yonge asse, and sate theron, as it is wryten:
12:15	feare not daughter of Syon, beholde, thy Kynge commeth, sytting on an asses colte.
12:16	These thinges vnderstode not his disciples at the fyrst: but when Iesus was glorifyed, then remembred they that soch thinges were wryten of him, and that soche thynges they had done vnto hym.
12:17	The people that was with hym (when he called Lazarus out of his graue, and raysed hym from death) bare recorde.
12:18	Therfore mete hym the people also, because they hearde that he had done soche a miracle.
12:19	The pharises therfore sayd among them selues: perceaue ye, howe we preuayle nothing? behold, worlde goeth after him.
12:20	Ther were certen Grekes amonge them, that came to worshyp at the feaste:
12:21	the same cam therfore to Philip (which was of Bethsaida a cytie in Galile) and desyred hym, saying: Syr, we wolde fayne se Iesus.
12:22	Philip came and tolde Andrew. And agayne Andrew and Philip told Iesus.
12:23	And Iesus answered them, sayinge: the houre is come, that the sonne of man must be glorifyed.
12:24	Uerely verely, I saye vnto you except the wheat corne fall into the ground, & dye, it bydeth alone. If it dye, it bryngeth forth moch frute.
12:25	He that loueth hys lyfe, shall destroye it: and he that hateth hys lyfe in thys world, shal kepe it vnto lyfe eternall.
12:26	If eny man mynister vnto me, lett him folowe me: and Where I am, there shall also my minister be. Yf any man mynister vnto me, hym will my father honoure.
12:27	Nowe is my soule troubled, and what shall I saye? Father, delyuer me from this houre: but therfore came I vnto thys houre.
12:28	Father, glorify thy name. Then cam ther a voyce from heauen, saying: I haue both glorifyed it, & will glorify it agayne.
12:29	The people therfore that stode by and heard it, sayde, that it thoundred. Other sayde: an angell spake to hym.
12:30	Iesus answered and sayde: this voyce came not because of me but for your sakes.
12:31	Now is the iudgment of this worlde: now shall the prince of thys worlde be cast out.
12:32	And I (yf I were lyft vp from the erth) will drawe all men vnto me.
12:33	Thys he sayde signifyinge, what death he shulde dye.
12:34	The people answered hym: We haue heard out of the lawe, that Christ bydeth euer, and how sayst thou: the sonne of man must be lyft vp? who is that sonne of man?
12:35	Then Iesus sayd vnto them: yet a lytell whyle is the lyght with you. Walke whyle ye haue lyght, lest the darcknes come on you. He that walketh also in the darck, woteth not whyther he goet
12:36	Whyle ye haue lyght, beleue on the lyght, that ye maye be the children of the lyght. These thynges spake Iesus, and departed, and hid him self from them.
12:37	But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet beleued not they on hym,
12:38	that the sayinge of Esaias the prophet myght be fulfylled, which he spake: Lord, who shal beleue our saying? And to whom is the arme of the Lorde declared?
12:39	Therfore could they not beleue, because that Esaias saith agayne:
12:40	he hath blynded their eyes, and hardened their hert, that they shuld not se with their eyes, & lest they shuld vnderstand with their hert, and shuld be conuerted, and I shulde heale them.
12:41	Soch thynges sayd Esaias, when he sawe his glorye, & spake of him.
12:42	Neuertheles, amonge the chefe rulers also, many beleued on hym. But (because of the pharises) they wold not be a knowen of it, lest they shulde be excommunicat.
12:43	For they loued the prayse of men, more then the prayse of God.
12:44	Iesus cryed, and sayd: he that beleueth on me, beleueth not on me, but on hym that sent me.

12:4	Then said one of his disciples, euen Iudas Iscariot Simons sonne, which should betray him:
12:5	Why was not this oyntment sold for three hundreth pence, and giuen to the poore?
12:6	Nowe he said this, not that he cared for the poore, but because hee was a theefe, and had the bagge, and bare that which was giuen.
12:7	Then said Iesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying she kept it.
12:8	For the poore alwayes yee haue with you, but me ye shall not haue alwayes.
12:9	Then much people of the Iewes knewe that hee was there: and they came, not for Iesus sake onely, but that they might see Lazarus also, whome he had raysed from the dead.
12:10	The hie Priestes therefore consulted, that they might put Lazarus to death also,
12:11	Because that for his sake many of the Iewes went away, and beleeued in Iesus.

12:36	While ye haue that light, beleeue in that light, that ye may be the children of the light. These things spake Iesus, and departed, and hid himselfe from them.
12:37	And though he had done so many miracles before them, yet beleeued they not on him,
12:38	That the saying of Esaias the Prophete might be fulfilled, that he sayd, Lord, who beleeued our report? and to whome is the arme of the Lord reueiled?
12:39	Therefore could they not beleeue, because that Esaias saith againe,
12:40	He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they shoulde not see with their eyes, nor vnderstand with their heart, and should be conuerted, and I should heale them.
12:41	These things sayd Esaias when he sawe his glory, and spake of him.

12:46	I am come a light into the world, that whosoeuer beleeueth in me, should not abide in darkenes.
12:47	And if any man heare my wordes, and beleeue not, I iudge him not: for I came not to iudge the world, but to saue the world.
12:48	He that refuseth me, and receiueth not my wordes, hath one that iudgeth him: the worde that I haue spoken, it shall iudge him in the last day.
12:49	For I haue not spoken of my selfe: but the Father which sent me, hee gaue me a commandement what I should say, and what I should speake.
12:50	And I knowe that his commandement is life euerlasting: the thinges therefore that I speake, I speake them so as the Father sayde vnto me.
