>
12:1Therfor Jhesus bifor sixe daies of pask cam to Bethanye, where Lazarus hadde be deed, whom Jhesus reiside.
12:2And thei maden to hym a soopere there, and Martha mynystride to hym; and Lazarus was oon of men that saten at the mete with hym.
12:3Therfor Marie took a pound of oynement of trewe narde precious, and anoyntide the feet of Jhesu, and wipte hise feet with hir heeris; and the hous was fulfillid of the sauour of the oynement.
12:4Therfor Judas Scarioth, oon of hise disciplis, that was to bitraye hym,
12:5seide, Whi is not this oynement seeld for thre hundrid pens, and is youun to nedi men?
12:6But he seide this thing, not for it perteynede to hym of nedi men, but for he was a theef, and he hadde the pursis, and bar tho thingis that weren sent.
12:7Therfor Jhesus seide, Suffre ye hir, that in to the day of my biriyng sche kepe that;
12:8for ye schulen euermore haue pore men with you, but ye schulen not euermore haue me.
12:9Therfore myche puple of Jewis knew, that Jhesus was there; and thei camen, not oonli for Jhesu, but to se Lazarus, whom he hadde reisid fro deth.
12:10But the princis of prestis thouyten to sle Lazarus,
12:11for manye of the Jewis wenten awei for him, and bileueden in Jhesu.
12:12But on the morew a myche puple, that cam togidere to the feeste dai, whanne thei hadden herd, that Jhesus cam to Jerusalem,
12:13token braunchis of palmes, and camen forth ayens hym, and crieden, Osanna, blessid is the kyng of Israel, that cometh in the name of the Lord.
12:14And Jhesus foond a yonge asse, and sat on hym,
12:15as it is writun, The douytir of Syon, nyle thou drede; lo! thi kyng cometh, sittynge on `an asse fole.
12:16Hise disciplis knewen not first these thingis, but whanne Jhesus was glorified, thanne thei hadden mynde, for these thingis weren writun of hym, and these thingis thei diden to hym.
12:17Therfor the puple bar witnessyng, that was with hym, whanne he clepide Lazarus fro the graue, and reiside hym fro deth.
12:18And therfor the puple cam, and mette with hym, for thei herden that he hadde don this signe.
12:19Therfor the Farisees seiden to hem silf, Ye seen, that we profiten no thing; lo! al the world wente aftir hym.
12:20And there weren summe hethene men, of hem that hadden come vp to worschipe in the feeste dai.
12:21And these camen to Filip, that was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and preieden hym, and seiden, Sire, we wolen se Jhesu.
12:22Filip cometh, and seith to Andrew; eft Andrew and Filip seiden to Jhesu.
12:23And Jhesus answerde `to hem, and seide, The our cometh, that mannus sone be clarified.
12:24Treuli, treuli, Y seie to you, but a corn of whete falle in to the erthe, and be deed, it dwellith aloone;
12:25but if it be deed, it bryngith myche fruyt. He that loueth his lijf, schal leese it; and he that hatith his lijf in this world, kepith it in to euerlastynge lijf.
12:26If ony man serue me, sue he me; and where Y am, there my mynystre schal be. If ony man serue me, my fadir schal worschipe hym.
12:27Now my soule is troublid, and what schal Y seie? Fadir, saue me fro this our; but therfor Y cam in to this our;
12:28fadir, clarifie thi name. And a vois cam fro heuene, and seide, And Y haue clarified, and eft Y schal clarifie.
12:29Therfor the puple that stood, and herde, seide, that `thundur was maad; othere men seide, an aungel spak to hym.
12:30Jhesus answerde, and seide, This vois cam not for me, but for you.
12:31Now is the doom of the world, now the prince of this world schal be cast out.
12:32And if Y schal be enhaunsid fro the erthe, Y schal drawe alle thingis to my silf.
12:33And he seide this thing, signifiynge bi what deth he `was to die.
12:34And the puple answeride to hym, We han herd of the lawe, that Crist dwellith with outen ende; and hou seist thou, It bihoueth mannys sone to be arerid?
12:35Who is this mannus sone? And thanne Jhesus seith to hem, Yit a litil liyt is in you; walke ye, the while ye han liyt, that derknessis catche you not; he that wandrith in derknessis, woot nere whidur he goith.
12:36While ye han liyt, bileue ye in liyt, that ye be the children of liyt. Jhesus spak these thingis, and wente, and hidde hym fro hem.
12:37And whanne he hadde don so many myraclis bifor hem, thei bileueden not `in to hym;
12:38that the word of Ysaie, the prophete, schulde be fulfillid, which he seide, Lord, who bileuede to oure heryng, and to whom is the arm of the Lord schewid?
12:39Therfor thei myyten not bileue, for eft Ysaye seide,
12:40He hath blyndid her iyen, and he hath maad hard the herte of hem, that thei se not with iyen, and vndurstonde with herte; and that thei be conuertid, and Y heele hem.
12:41Ysaye seide these thingis, whanne he say the glorie of hym, and spak of hym.
12:42Netheles `of the pryncis manye bileueden in hym, but for the Farisees thei knowlechiden not, that thei schulden not be put out of the synagoge;
12:43for thei loueden the glorie of men, more than the glorie of God.
12:44And Jhesus criede, and seide, He that bileueth in me, bileueth not in me, but in hym that sente me.
12:45He that seeth me, seeth hym that sente me.
12:46Y liyt cam in to the world, that ech that bileueth in me, dwelle not in derknessis.
12:47And if ony man herith my words, and kepith hem, Y deme hym not; for Y cam not, that Y deme the world, but that Y make the world saaf.
12:48He that dispisith me, and takith not my wordis, hath hym that schal iuge hym; thilke word that Y haue spokun, schal deme hym in the last dai.
12:49For Y haue not spokun of my silf, but thilke fadir that sente me, yaf to me a maundement, what Y schal seie, and what Y schal speke.
12:50And Y woot, that his maundement is euerlastynge lijf; therfor tho thingis that Y speke, as the fadir seide to me, so Y speke.

12:1Then Iesus, sixe dayes before the Passeouer, came to Bethania, where Lazarus was, who died, whom he had raised from the dead.
12:2There they made him a supper, and Martha serued: but Lazarus was one of them that sate at the table with him.
12:3Then tooke Mary a pound of oyntment of Spikenarde very costly, and anoynted Iesus feete, and wiped his feete with her heare, and the house was filled with the sauour of the oyntment.
12:4Then said one of his disciples, euen Iudas Iscariot Simons sonne, which should betray him:
12:5Why was not this oyntment sold for three hundreth pence, and giuen to the poore?
12:6Nowe he said this, not that he cared for the poore, but because hee was a theefe, and had the bagge, and bare that which was giuen.
12:7Then said Iesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying she kept it.
12:8For the poore alwayes yee haue with you, but me ye shall not haue alwayes.
12:9Then much people of the Iewes knewe that hee was there: and they came, not for Iesus sake onely, but that they might see Lazarus also, whome he had raysed from the dead.
12:10The hie Priestes therefore consulted, that they might put Lazarus to death also,
12:11Because that for his sake many of the Iewes went away, and beleeued in Iesus.
12:12On the morowe a great multitude that were come to the feast, when they heard that Iesus should come to Hierusalem,
12:13Tooke branches of palme trees, and went foorth to meete him, and cried, Hosanna, Blessed is the King of Israel that commeth in the Name of the Lord.
12:14And Iesus found a yong asse, and sate thereon, as it is written,
12:15Feare not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King commeth sitting on an asses colte.
12:16But his disciples vnderstoode not these thinges at the first: but when Iesus was glorified, then remembred they, that these thinges were written of him, and that they had done these things vnto him.
12:17The people therefore that was with him, bare witnesse that hee called Lazarus out of the graue, and raised him from the dead.
12:18Therefore mette him the people also, because they heard that he had done this miracle.
12:19And the Pharises said among themselues, Perceiue ye howe ye preuaile nothing? Beholde, the worlde goeth after him.
12:20Nowe there were certaine Greekes among them that came vp to worship at the feast.
12:21And they came to Philippe, which was of Bethsaida in Galile, and desired him, saying, Syr, we would see that Iesus.
12:22Philippe came and tolde Andrew: and againe Andrew and Philippe tolde Iesus.
12:23And Iesus answered them, saying, The houre is come, that the Sonne of man must bee glorified.
12:24Verely, verely I say vnto you, Except the wheate corne fall into the grounde and die, it bideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth foorth much fruite.
12:25He that loueth his life, shall lose it, and he that hateth his life in this world, shall keepe it vnto life eternall.
12:26If any man serue me, let him follow me: for where I am, there shall also my seruant be: and if any man serue me, him will my Father honour.
12:27Now is my soule troubled: and what shall I say? Father, saue me from this houre: but therefore came I vnto this houre.
12:28Father, glorifie thy Name. Then came there a voyce from heauen, saying, I haue both glorified it, and will glorifie it againe.
12:29Then saide the people that stoode by, and heard, that it was a thunder: other said, An Angel spake to him.
12:30Iesus answered, and said, This voyce came not because of me, but for your sakes.
12:31Now is the iudgement of this world: nowe shall the prince of this world be cast out.
12:32And I, if I were lift vp from the earth, will drawe all men vnto me.
12:33Nowe this sayd he, signifying what death he should die.
12:34The people answered him, We haue heard out of the Law, that that Christ bideth for euer: and howe sayest thou, that that Sonne of man must be lift vp? Who is that Sonne of man?
12:35Then Iesus sayd vnto them, Yet a litle while is the light with you: walke while ye haue that light, lest the darkenes come vpon you: for hee that walketh in the darke, knoweth not whither he goeth.
12:36While ye haue that light, beleeue in that light, that ye may be the children of the light. These things spake Iesus, and departed, and hid himselfe from them.
12:37And though he had done so many miracles before them, yet beleeued they not on him,
12:38That the saying of Esaias the Prophete might be fulfilled, that he sayd, Lord, who beleeued our report? and to whome is the arme of the Lord reueiled?
12:39Therefore could they not beleeue, because that Esaias saith againe,
12:40He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they shoulde not see with their eyes, nor vnderstand with their heart, and should be conuerted, and I should heale them.
12:41These things sayd Esaias when he sawe his glory, and spake of him.
12:42Neuertheles, euen among the chiefe rulers, many beleeued in him: but because of the Pharises they did not confesse him, least they should be cast out of the Synagogue.
12:43For they loued the prayse of men, more then the prayse of God.
12:44And Iesus cryed, and sayd, He that beleeueth in me, beleeueth not in me, but in him that sent me.
12:45And he that seeth me, seeth him that sent me.
12:46I am come a light into the world, that whosoeuer beleeueth in me, should not abide in darkenes.
12:47And if any man heare my wordes, and beleeue not, I iudge him not: for I came not to iudge the world, but to saue the world.
12:48He that refuseth me, and receiueth not my wordes, hath one that iudgeth him: the worde that I haue spoken, it shall iudge him in the last day.
12:49For I haue not spoken of my selfe: but the Father which sent me, hee gaue me a commandement what I should say, and what I should speake.
12:50And I knowe that his commandement is life euerlasting: the thinges therefore that I speake, I speake them so as the Father sayde vnto me.

12:1Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead.
12:2There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him.
12:3Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
12:4But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who would betray Him, said,
12:5"Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?"
12:6This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money bag; and carried what was put in it.
12:7But Jesus said, "Leave her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial."
12:8Because, the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always."
12:9Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
12:10But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also,
12:11because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed on Jesus.
12:12On the next day many people who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
12:13took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and shouted: "Hosanna! Blessed is the King of Israel who comes in the name of the LORD!"
12:14Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written:
12:15"Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt."
12:16His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.
12:17Therefore the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore record.
12:18For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this miracle.
12:19The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, "You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!"
12:20Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast.
12:21So they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, "Sir, we desire to see Jesus."
12:22Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus.
12:23But Jesus replied to them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified."
12:24Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain."
12:25He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life."
12:26If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor."
12:27"Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this purpose I came to this hour."
12:28Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came from heaven, saying, "I have both glorified it and will glorify it again."
12:29Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to Him."
12:30Jesus responded and said, "This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake."
12:31Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out."
12:32And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Me."
12:33This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
12:34The people responded to Him, "We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever; and how can You say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this Son of Man?"
12:35Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; because he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going."
12:36While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may be children of light." These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and hid Himself from them.
12:37But although He had done so many miracles before them, they did not believe in Him,
12:38that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?"
12:39Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again:
12:40"He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes, lest they should understand with their hearts and be converted, so that I should heal them."
12:41These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.
12:42Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed on Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue;
12:43because they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
12:44Jesus shouted and said, "He who believes on Me, believes not on Me but on Him who sent Me."
12:45And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me."
12:46I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes on Me should not abide in darkness."
12:47And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; because I did not come to judge the world but to save the world."
12:48He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him, the word that I have spoken, that will judge him in the last day."
12:49Because, I have not spoken from Myself; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a commandment, what I should say and what I should speak."
12:50And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father said to Me, so I speak."
