John - Chapter: 16

>
16:1These thynges haue I sayed vnto you, because ye shoulde not be offended.
16:2They shall excommunicate you: ye the tyme shall come, that whosoeuer kylleth you, wil thinke that he doeth god seruice.
16:3And suche thinges shall they do vnto you, because they haue not knowen the father, neyther yet me.
16:4But these thynges haue I tolde you, that when that houre is come ye myghte remember them that I tolde you so. These thynges sayde I not vnto you at the begynnynge, because I was present with you.
16:5But nowe I go my waye to hym that sent me, and none of you axeth me, whyther goest thou?
16:6But because I haue sayde suche thinges vnto you, youre hertes are full of sorowe.
16:7Neuerthelesse I tell you the trueth, it is expediente for you that I go awaye. For yf I go not awaye, that comforter wil not come vnto you. But yf I departe, I wil sende hym vnto you.
16:8And when he is come, he wil rebuke the world of synne, and of ryghteousnesse, and of iudgement
16:9Of synne, because they beleue not on me:
16:10of ryghteousnesse, because I go to my father, and then ye shall not se me,
16:11and of iudgement, because the chiefe ruler of this worlde is iudged already.
16:12I haue yet many thinges to say vnto you, but ye cannot beare them awaye now.
16:13Howe be it when he is come (I meane the spirite of truth) he wyll lead you into all truth. He shall not speake of hym self, but whatsoeuer he shal heare, that shall he speake, and he wyll shewe you thynges to come.
16:14He shall glorifye me, for he shall receyue of myne, and shall shewe vnto you.
16:15Al thynges that the father hath, are myne. Therfore sayd I vnto you, that he shal take of myne, and shewe vnto you.
16:16After a whyle ye shall not se me: & agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: for I go to the father.
16:17Then sayed some of hys disciples amonge them selues: what is this that he sayeth vnto vs: after a whyle ye shall not se me, & agayne after a whyle ye shall se me, and that I go to the father.
16:18They sayd therfore: what is it that he sayeth, after a whyle? we can not tell what he sayth.
16:19Iesus perceyued that they woulde axe him and sayde vnto them. This is it that ye enquyre of amonge your selues that I sayde after a whyle ye shall not se me, and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me.
16:20Verely verely I say vnto you: ye shall wepe and lament, & the world shall reioyce. Ye shall sorowe, but your sorow shalbe turned into ioye.
16:21A woman when she trauayleth, hathe sorowe, because her houre is come: but assone as she is deliuered of the child she remembreth no more the anguish, for ioye that a man is borne into the worlde.
16:22And ye now are in sorow: but I wyll se you agayne, and youre hertes shall reioyce, and youre ioye shall no man take from you.
16:23And in that day shal ye axe me no question. Verely verely I say vnto you: whatsoeuer ye shall axe the father in my name, he wyll geue it you.
16:24Hytherto haue ye axed nothyng in my name. Axe and ye shall receyue it, that your ioye maye be full.
16:25These thynges haue I spoken vnto you in prouerbes. The tyme will come when I shall no more speake to you in prouerbes: but I shall shewe you plainly from my father.
16:26At that daye shall ye axe in my name. And I say not vnto you that I wyll speake vnto my father for you.
16:27For the father hym selfe loueth you, because ye haue loued me, and haue beleued, that I came out from God.
16:28I wente oute from the father, and came into the world, and I leaue the world agayne, and go to the father.
16:29Hys disciples sayde vnto him: lo now speakest thou plainly, and thou vsest no prouerbe.
16:30Nowe knowe we that thou vnderstandest all thynges, and nedest not that any man should axe the any question. Therfore beleue we that thou camest from God.
16:31Iesus aunswered them: Now ye do beleue.
16:32Beholde, the houre draweth nye, and is all readye come that ye shalbe scatered euerye man hys wayes, and shall leaue me alone. And yet am I not alone. For the father is with me.
16:33These wordes haue I spoken vnto you, that in me you myght haue peace. For in the worlde shall you haue tribulacyon: but be of good cheare. I haue ouercome the worlde.

16:1These thynges haue I sayde vnto you because ye shuld not be offended.
16:2They shall excommunicat you: ye the tyme shall come, that whosoeuer kylleth you, will thinke that he doth God seruyce.
16:3And such thinges will they do vnto you, because they haue not knowen the father, nether yet me.
16:4But these thinges haue I tolde you, that when the tyme is come, ye maye remember then that I tolde you. These thynges sayde I not vnto you at the begynninge, because I was present with you.
16:5But now I go my waye to hym that sent me, & none of you asketh me whyther I go.
16:6But because I haue sayd suche thynges vnto you, your hertes are ful of sorowe.
16:7Neuertheles, I tel you the treuth, it is expedient for you, that I goo awaye. For yf I goo not awaye, that comforter wyll not come vnto you. But yf I departe, I wyll sende hym vnto you.
16:8And when he is come, he wyll rebuke the worlde of synne, and of rightewesnes, & of iudgement.
16:9Of synne, because they beleue not on me.
16:10Of ryghtewesnes, because I go to my father, and ye shal se me nomore:
16:11Of iudgement, because the prynce of thys worlde is iudged all ready.
16:12I haue yet many thinges to saye vnto you but ye cannot beare them awaye now.
16:13Howbeit when he is come (which is the sprete of treuth) he will leade you into all treuthe. He shall not speake of hym selfe: but whatsoeuer he shall heare, that shall he speake, and he will shewe you thinges to come.
16:14He shal glorify me, for he shall receaue of myne, & shall shewe vnto you.
16:15All thynges that the father hath, are myne. Therfore sayde I vnto you, that he shall take of myne and shewe vnto you.
16:16After a while ye shall not se me, and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: for I go to the father.
16:17Then sayde some of hys discyples betwene them selues: what is thys that he saith vnto vs, after a while, ye shall not se me, and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: and that I go to the father?
16:18They sayd therfore: what is this that he sayth: after a whyle? we cannot tell what he sayth.
16:19Iesus perceaued, that they wolde aske him, and sayde vnto them. Ye enquire of this betwene your selues, because I sayde after a whyle ye shal not se me, & agayne after a whyle ye shall se me.
16:20Uerely verely, I saye vnto you: ye shall wepe and lamente, but contrary wyse, the world shall reioyse. Ye shall sorowe, but yor sorowe shalbe turned to ioye.
16:21A woman when she trauaileth, hath sorowe, because her houre is come: but assone as she is deliuered of the childe, she remembreth nomore the anguisshe, for ioye that a man is borne into the worlde.
16:22And ye now therfore haue sorowe: but I will se you agayne, and your hertes shall reioyse, and your ioye shal no man take from you.
16:23And in the daye shall ye aske me no question. Uerely verely, I saye vnto you: whatsoeuer ye shall aske the father in my name, he wyll geue it you.
16:24Hytherto haue ye asked nothynge in my name. Aske, and ye shall receaue: that youre ioye maye be full.
16:25These thinges haue I spoken vnto you by prouerbes. The tyme will come, when I shal nomore speake vnto you by prouerbes: but I shall shewe you playnely from my father.
16:26At that daye shall ye aske in my name. And I saye not vnto you that I will speake vnto my father for you.
16:27For the father him selfe loueth you, because ye haue loued me, and haue beleued, that I came out from God.
16:28I went out from the father, and came into the worlde. Agayne, I leaue the worlde, and go to the father.
16:29His disciples sayd vnto him: lo, now talkest thou playnly, and speakest no prouerbe.
16:30Nowe are we sure, that thou knowest all thinges, and nedest not, that eny man shulde aske the any question. Therfore beleue we, that thou camest from God.
16:31Iesus answered them: Now ye do beleue.
16:32Behold, the houre draweth nye, and is all ready come, that ye shalbe scatered euery man to his awne, & shal leaue me alone. And yet am I not alone. For the father is with me.
16:33These wordes haue I spoken vnto you, that in me ye myghte haue peace. For in the worlde shall ye haue tribulacyon: but be of good chere, I haue ouercome the worlde.

16:1These thinges haue I saide vnto you, that ye should not be offended.
16:2They shall excommunicate you: yea, the time shall come, that whosoeuer killeth you, will thinke that he doeth God seruice.
16:3And these things will they doe vnto you, because they haue not knowen ye Father, nor me.
16:4But these things haue I tolde you, that when the houre shall come, ye might remember, that I tolde you them. And these things said I not vnto you from ye beginning, because I was with you.
16:5But now I go my way to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
16:6But because I haue saide these thinges vnto you, your hearts are full of sorowe.
16:7Yet I tell you the trueth, It is expedient for you that I goe away: for if I goe not away, that Comforter will not come vnto you: but if I depart, I will send him vnto you.
16:8And when he is come, he will reproue the worlde of sinne, and of righteousnesse, and of iudgement.
16:9Of sinne, because they beleeued not in me:
16:10Of righteousnesse, because I goe to my Father, and ye shall see me no more:
16:11Of iudgement, because the prince of this world is iudged.
16:12I haue yet many things to say vnto you, but ye cannot beare them nowe.
16:13Howbeit, when he is come which is the Spirit of trueth, he will leade you into all trueth: for he shall not speake of himselfe, but whatsoeuer he shall heare, shall he speake, and he will shew you the things to come.
16:14He shall glorifie me: for he shall receiue of mine, and shall shewe it vnto you.
16:15All thinges that the Father hath, are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shewe it vnto you.
16:16A litle while, and ye shall not see me: and againe a litle while, and ye shall see me: for I goe to the Father.
16:17Then said some of his disciples among them selues, What is this that he saieth vnto vs, A litle while, and ye shall not see me, and againe, a litle while, and ye shall see me, and, For I goe to the Father.
16:18They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A litle while? we know not what he sayeth.
16:19Now Iesus knew that they would aske him, and said vnto them, Doe ye enquire among your selues, of that I said, A litle while, and ye shall not see me: and againe, a litle while, and yee shall see me?
16:20Verely, verely I say vnto you, that ye shall weepe and lament, and the worlde shall reioyce: and ye shall sorowe, but your sorowe shalbe turned to ioye.
16:21A woman when she traueileth, hath sorowe, because her houre is come: but assoone as she is deliuered of the childe, she remembreth no more the anguish, for ioy that a man is borne into the world.
16:22And ye nowe therefore are in sorowe: but I will see you againe, and your hearts shall reioyce, and your ioy shall no man take from you.
16:23And in that day shall ye aske me nothing. Verely, verely I say vnto you, whatsoeuer ye shall aske the Father in my Name, he will giue it you.
16:24Hitherto haue ye asked nothing in my Name: aske, and ye shall receiue, that your ioye may be full.
16:25These things haue I spoken vnto you in parables: but the time will come, when I shall no more speake to you in parables: but I shall shew you plainely of the Father.
16:26At that day shall ye aske in my Name, and I say not vnto you, that I will pray vnto the Father for you:
16:27For the Father himselfe loueth you, because ye haue loued me, and haue beleeued that I came out from God.
16:28I am come out from the Father, and came into the worlde: againe I leaue the worlde, and goe to the Father.
16:29His disciples saide vnto him, Loe, nowe speakest thou plainely, and thou speakest no parable.
16:30Nowe knowe wee that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should aske thee. By this we beleeue, that thou art come out from God.
16:31Iesus answered them, Doe you beleeue nowe?
16:32Beholde, the houre commeth, and is already come, that ye shalbe scattered euery man into his owne, and shall leaue me alone: but I am not alone: for the Father is with me.
16:33These thinges haue I spoken vnto you, that in me ye might haue peace: in the world ye shall haue affliction, but be of good comfort: I haue ouercome the world.
