John - Chapter: 16

>
16:1These thynges haue I sayde vnto you because ye shuld not be offended.
16:2They shall excommunicat you: ye the tyme shall come, that whosoeuer kylleth you, will thinke that he doth God seruyce.
16:3And such thinges will they do vnto you, because they haue not knowen the father, nether yet me.
16:4But these thinges haue I tolde you, that when the tyme is come, ye maye remember then that I tolde you. These thynges sayde I not vnto you at the begynninge, because I was present with you.
16:5But now I go my waye to hym that sent me, & none of you asketh me whyther I go.
16:6But because I haue sayd suche thynges vnto you, your hertes are ful of sorowe.
16:7Neuertheles, I tel you the treuth, it is expedient for you, that I goo awaye. For yf I goo not awaye, that comforter wyll not come vnto you. But yf I departe, I wyll sende hym vnto you.
16:8And when he is come, he wyll rebuke the worlde of synne, and of rightewesnes, & of iudgement.
16:9Of synne, because they beleue not on me.
16:10Of ryghtewesnes, because I go to my father, and ye shal se me nomore:
16:11Of iudgement, because the prynce of thys worlde is iudged all ready.
16:12I haue yet many thinges to saye vnto you but ye cannot beare them awaye now.
16:13Howbeit when he is come (which is the sprete of treuth) he will leade you into all treuthe. He shall not speake of hym selfe: but whatsoeuer he shall heare, that shall he speake, and he will shewe you thinges to come.
16:14He shal glorify me, for he shall receaue of myne, & shall shewe vnto you.
16:15All thynges that the father hath, are myne. Therfore sayde I vnto you, that he shall take of myne and shewe vnto you.
16:16After a while ye shall not se me, and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: for I go to the father.
16:17Then sayde some of hys discyples betwene them selues: what is thys that he saith vnto vs, after a while, ye shall not se me, and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: and that I go to the father?
16:18They sayd therfore: what is this that he sayth: after a whyle? we cannot tell what he sayth.
16:19Iesus perceaued, that they wolde aske him, and sayde vnto them. Ye enquire of this betwene your selues, because I sayde after a whyle ye shal not se me, & agayne after a whyle ye shall se me.
16:20Uerely verely, I saye vnto you: ye shall wepe and lamente, but contrary wyse, the world shall reioyse. Ye shall sorowe, but yor sorowe shalbe turned to ioye.
16:21A woman when she trauaileth, hath sorowe, because her houre is come: but assone as she is deliuered of the childe, she remembreth nomore the anguisshe, for ioye that a man is borne into the worlde.
16:22And ye now therfore haue sorowe: but I will se you agayne, and your hertes shall reioyse, and your ioye shal no man take from you.
16:23And in the daye shall ye aske me no question. Uerely verely, I saye vnto you: whatsoeuer ye shall aske the father in my name, he wyll geue it you.
16:24Hytherto haue ye asked nothynge in my name. Aske, and ye shall receaue: that youre ioye maye be full.
16:25These thinges haue I spoken vnto you by prouerbes. The tyme will come, when I shal nomore speake vnto you by prouerbes: but I shall shewe you playnely from my father.
16:26At that daye shall ye aske in my name. And I saye not vnto you that I will speake vnto my father for you.
16:27For the father him selfe loueth you, because ye haue loued me, and haue beleued, that I came out from God.
16:28I went out from the father, and came into the worlde. Agayne, I leaue the worlde, and go to the father.
16:29His disciples sayd vnto him: lo, now talkest thou playnly, and speakest no prouerbe.
16:30Nowe are we sure, that thou knowest all thinges, and nedest not, that eny man shulde aske the any question. Therfore beleue we, that thou camest from God.
16:31Iesus answered them: Now ye do beleue.
16:32Behold, the houre draweth nye, and is all ready come, that ye shalbe scatered euery man to his awne, & shal leaue me alone. And yet am I not alone. For the father is with me.
16:33These wordes haue I spoken vnto you, that in me ye myghte haue peace. For in the worlde shall ye haue tribulacyon: but be of good chere, I haue ouercome the worlde.

16:1These thingis Y haue spokun to you, that ye be not sclaundrid.
16:2Thei schulen make you with outen the synagogis, but the our cometh, that ech man that sleeth you, deme that he doith seruyce to God.
16:3And thei schulen do to you these thingis, for thei han not knowun the fadir, nether me.
16:4But these thingis Y spak to you, that whanne the our `of hem schal come, ye haue mynde, that Y seide to you.
16:5Y seide not to you these thingis fro the bigynnyng, for Y was with you. And now Y go to hym that sente me, and no man of you axith me, Whidur `thou goist?
16:6but for Y haue spokun to you these thingis, heuynesse hath fulfillid youre herte.
16:7But Y seie to you treuthe, it spedith to you, that Y go; for if Y go not forth, the coumfortour schal not come to you; but if Y go forth, Y schal sende hym to you.
16:8And whanne he cometh, he schal repreue the world of synne, and of riytwisnesse, and of doom.
16:9Of synne, for thei han not bileued in me;
16:10and of riytwisnesse, for Y go to the fadir, and now ye schulen not se me;
16:11but of doom, for the prince of this world is now demed.
16:12Yit Y haue many thingis for to seie to you, but ye moun not bere hem now.
16:13But whanne thilke spirit of treuthe cometh, he schal teche you al trewthe; for he schal not speke of hym silf, but what euer thinges he schal here, he schal speke; and he schal telle to you tho thingis that ben to come.
16:14He schal clarifie me, for of myne he schal take, and schal telle to you.
16:15Alle thingis `whiche euer the fadir hath, ben myne; therfor Y seide to you, for of myne he schal take, and schal telle to you.
16:16A litil, and thanne ye schulen not se me; and eftsoone a litil, and ye schulen se me, for Y go to the fadir.
16:17Therfor summe of hise disciplis seiden togidere, What is this thing that he seith to vs, A litil, and ye schulen not se me; and eftsoone a litil, and ye schulen se me, for Y go to the fadir?
16:18Therfor thei seiden, What is this that he seith to vs, A litil? we witen not what he spekith.
16:19And Jhesus knew, that thei wolden axe hym, and he seide to hem, Of this thing ye seken among you, for Y seide, A litil, and ye schulen not se me; and eftsoone a litil, and ye schulen se me.
16:20Treuli, treuli, Y seie to you, that ye schulen mourne and wepe, but the world schal haue ioye; and ye schulen be soreuful, but youre sorewe schal turne in to ioye.
16:21A womman whanne sche berith child, hath heuynesse, for hir tyme is comun; but whanne sche hath borun a sone, now sche thenkith not on the peyne, for ioye, for a man is borun in to the world.
16:22And therfor ye han now sorew, but eftsoone Y schal se you, and youre herte schal haue ioie, and no man schal take fro you youre ioie.
16:23And in that day ye schulen not axe me ony thing; treuli, treuli, `Y seie to you, if ye axen the fadir ony thing in my name, he schal yyue to you.
16:24`Til now ye axiden no thing in my name; `axe ye, `and ye schulen take, that youre ioie be ful.
16:25Y haue spokun to you these thingis in prouerbis; the our cometh, whanne now Y schal not speke to you in prouerbis, but opynli of my fadir Y schal telle to you.
16:26In that dai ye schulen axe in my name; and Y seie not to you, that Y schal preye the fadir of you;
16:27for the fadir hym silf loueth you, for ye han loued me, and han bileued, that Y wente out fro God.
16:28Y wente out fro the fadir, and Y cam in to the world; eftsoone Y leeue the world, and Y go to the fadir.
16:29Hise disciplis seiden to hym, Lo! now thou spekist opynli, and thou seist no prouerbe.
16:30Now we witen, that thou wost alle thingis; and it is not nede to thee, that ony man axe thee. In this thing we bileuen, that thou wentist out fro God.
16:31Jhesus answeride to hem, Now ye bileuen.
16:32Lo! the our cometh, and now it cometh, that ye be disparplid, ech in to hise owne thingis, and that ye leeue me aloone; and Y am not aloone, for the fadir is with me.
16:33These thingis Y haue spokun to you, that ye haue pees in me; in the world ye schulen haue disese, but trust ye, Y haue ouercomun the world.

16:1These thinges haue I sayde vnto you, that ye shulde not be offended.
16:2They shal excomunicate you. The tyme commeth, that who soeuer putteth you to death, shal thynke that he doth seruyce vnto God.
16:3And soch thinges shal they do vnto you, because they haue nether knowne ye father ner yet me.
16:4But these thinges haue I sayde vnto you, that whan the tyme cometh ye maye thynke theron, that I tolde you. But these thinges haue I not sayde vnto you from the begynnynge: For I was with you.
16:5But now I go vnto him that sent me, & none of you axeth me: Whither goest thou?
16:6but because I haue sayde these thinges vnto you, youre hert is full of sorowe.
16:7Neuertheles I tell you the trueth, It is better for you yt I go awaye: For yf I go not awaye that comforter commeth not vnto you: but yf I departe, I wil sende hi vnto you.
16:8And whan he commeth, he shal rebuke the worlde of synne, and of righteousnes, & of iudgment.
16:9Of synne, because they beleue not on me.
16:10Of righteousnes, because I go to the father, and ye shal se me nomore.
16:11Of iudgmet, because the prynce of this worlde is iudged allready.
16:12I haue yet moch to saye vnto you, but ye can not now beare it awaye:
16:13howbeit whan he (the sprete of trueth commeth) he shal lede you in to all trueth. For he shal not speake of himself, but what soeuer he shal heare, that shal he speake: and he shall shewe you, what is for to come.
16:14He shal glorifye me: for he shal receaue of myne, and shal shewe vnto you.
16:15All that the father hath, is myne. Therfore haue I sayde: he shal receaue of myne, and shewe vnto you.
16:16After a litle whyle, and ye shal not se me: and agayne after a litle whyle, and ye shal se me: for I go to the father.
16:17The saide some of his disciples amonge themselues: What is this that he sayeth vnto vs, After a litle whyle, and ye shal not se me: & agayne after a litle whyle, & ye shal se me: for I go to the father?
16:18Then sayde they: What is this, that he sayeth: After a litle whyle? We can not tell what he sayeth.
16:19Then perceaued Iesus that they wolde axe him, and he sayde vnto them: Ye enquyre of this amonge youre selues, that I sayde: After a litle whyle, and ye shal not se me: & agayne after a litle whyle, and ye shal se me.
16:20Verely verely I saye vnto you: Ye shal wepe and lamente, but the worlde shal reioyse: Ye shal be sory, but youre sorowe shal be turned in to ioye.
16:21A woman whan she trauayleth, hath sorowe, for hir houre is come. But whan she is delyuered of the childe, she thinketh nomore of the anguyshe, for ioye that a man is borne in to the worlde.
16:22And now haue ye sorowe also: but I wil se you agayne, and youre hert shal reioyse, and youre ioye shal noman take from you.
16:23And in that daye shal ye axe me no question. Verely verely I saye vnto you: Yf ye axe ye father ought in my name, he shal geue it you.
16:24Hither to haue ye axed nothinge in my name. Axe, and ye shal receaue, yt youre ioye maye be perfecte.
16:25These thinges haue I spoken vnto you by prouerbes. Neuertheles the tyme commeth, that I shal speake nomore by prouerbes, but I shal shewe you planely of my father.
16:26In that daye shal ye axe in my name. And I saye not vnto you, that I wyl praye vnto the father for you:
16:27for the father himself loueth you, because ye haue loued me, & beleued that I am come out from God.
16:28I wente out from the father, and came in to the worlde: Agayne, I leaue ye worlde, and go to the father.
16:29His disciples sayde vnto him: Beholde, now talkest thou planely, and speakest no prouerbe.
16:30Now are we sure yt thou knowest all thinges, and nedest not that eny ma shulde axe the. Therfore beleue we, that thou camest out from God:
16:31Iesus answered them: Now ye do beleue:
16:32Beholde, the houre draweth nye, and is come allready, that ye shalbe scatred, euery man in to his awne, and shal leaue me alone: and yet am I not alone, for the father is with me.
16:33These thinges haue I spoken vnto you, that in me ye might haue peace. In ye worlde haue ye trouble, but be of good comforte, I haue ouercome the worlde.
