John - Chapter: 16

>
16:1`These things I have spoken to you, that ye may not be stumbled,
16:2out of the synagogues they will put you; but an hour doth come, that every one who hath killed you, may think to offer service unto God;
16:3and these things they will do to you, because they did not know the Father, nor me.
16:4`But these things I have spoken to you, that when the hour may come, ye may remember them, that I said `them' to you, and these things to you from the beginning I did not say, because I was with you;
16:5and now I go away to Him who sent me, and none of you doth ask me, Whither dost thou go?
16:6but because these things I have said to you, the sorrow hath filled your heart.
16:7`But I tell you the truth; it is better for you that I go away, for if I may not go away, the Comforter will not come unto you, and if I go on, I will send Him unto you;
16:8and having come, He will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment;
16:9concerning sin indeed, because they do not believe in me;
16:10and concerning righteousness, because unto my Father I go away, and no more do ye behold me;
16:11and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world hath been judged.
16:12`I have yet many things to say to you, but ye are not able to bear `them' now;
16:13and when He may come -- the Spirit of truth -- He will guide you to all the truth, for He will not speak from Himself, but as many things as He will hear He will speak, and the coming things He will tell you;
16:14He will glorify me, because of mine He will take, and will tell to you.
16:15`All things, as many as the Father hath, are mine; because of this I said, That of mine He will take, and will tell to you;
16:16a little while, and ye do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go away unto the Father.'
16:17Therefore said `some' of his disciples one to another, `What is this that he saith to us, A little while, and ye do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away unto the Father?'
16:18they said then, `What is this he saith -- the little while? we have not known what he saith.'
16:19Jesus, therefore, knew that they were wishing to ask him, and he said to them, `Concerning this do ye seek one with another, because I said, A little while, and you do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me?
16:20verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, and the world will rejoice; and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow joy will become.
16:21`The woman, when she may bear, hath sorrow, because her hour did come, and when she may bear the child, no more doth she remember the anguish, because of the joy that a man was born to the world.
16:22`And ye, therefore, now, indeed, have sorrow; and again I will see you, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one doth take from you,
16:23and in that day ye will question me nothing; verily, verily, I say to you, as many things as ye may ask of the Father in my name, He will give you;
16:24till now ye did ask nothing in my name; ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
16:25`These things in similitudes I have spoken to you, but there cometh an hour when no more in similitudes will I speak to you, but freely of the Father, will tell you.
16:26`In that day, in my name ye will make request, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father for you,
16:27for the Father himself doth love you, because me ye have loved, and ye have believed that I from God came forth;
16:28I came forth from the Father, and have come to the world; again I leave the world, and go on unto the Father.'
16:29His disciples say to him, `Lo, now freely thou dost speak, and no similitude speakest thou;
16:30now we have known that thou hast known all things, and hast no need that any one do question thee; in this we believe that from God thou didst come forth.'
16:31Jesus answered them, `Now do ye believe? lo, there doth come an hour,
16:32and now it hath come, that ye may be scattered, each to his own things, and me ye may leave alone, and I am not alone, because the Father is with me;
16:33these things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace, in the world ye shall have tribulation, but take courage -- I have overcome the world.'

16:1These thinges have I sayde vnto you because ye shuld not be offended.
16:2They shall excomunicat you: ye ye tyme shall come that whosoever killeth you will thinke that he doth God service.
16:3And suche thinges will they do vnto you because they have not knowen the father nether yet me.
16:4But these thinges have I tolde you that when that houre is come ye myght remember them that I tolde you so. These thinges sayde I not unto you at the begynninge because I was present with you.
16:5But now I goo my waye to him that sent me and none of you axeth me: whither goest thou?
16:6But because I have sayde suche thinges vnto you youre hertes are full of sorowe.
16:7Neverthelesse I tell you the trueth it is expedient for you that I goo awaye. For yf I goo not awaye that comforter will not come vnto you. But yf I departe I will sende him vnto you.
16:8And when he is come he will rebuke ye worlde of synne and of rightwesnes and of iudgement.
16:9Of synne because they beleve not on me:
16:10Of rightwesnes because I go to my father and ye shall se me no moare:
16:11and of iudgement because the chefe ruler of this worlde is iudged all ready.
16:12I have yet many thinges to saye vnto you: but ye canot beare them awaye now.
16:13How be it when he is come (I meane the sprete of truthe) he will leade yon into all trueth. He shall not speake of him selfe: but whatsoever he shall heare that shall he speake and he will shewe you thinges to come.
16:14He shall glorify me for he shall receave of myne and shall shewe vnto you.
16:15All thinges that ye father hath aremyne. Therfore sayd I vnto you that he shall take of myne and shewe vnto you.
16:16After a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: For I goo to the father.
16:17Then sayd some of his disciples bitwene them selves: what is this yt he sayth vnto vs after a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: and that I go to the father.
16:18They sayd therfore: what is this that he sayth after a whyle? we canot tell what he sayth.
16:19Iesus perceaved yt they wolde axe him and sayd vnto them: This is it that ye enquyre of bitwene youre selves that I sayd after a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me.
16:20Verely verely I saye vnto you: ye shall wepe and lamet and the worlde shall reioyce. Ye shall sorowe: but youre sorowe shalbe tourned to ioye.
16:21A woman when she traveyleth hath sorowe because her houre is come: but assone as she is delivered of the chylde she remembreth no moare the anguysshe for ioye that a man is borne in to the worlde
16:22And ye now are in sorowe: but I will se you agayne and youre hertes shall reioyce and youre ioye shall no ma take fro you.
16:23And in that daye shall ye axe me no question. Verely verely I saye vnto you whatsoever ye shall axe the father in my name he will geve it you
16:24Hitherto have ye axed nothinge in my name. Axe and ye shall receave it: that youre ioye maye be full.
16:25 These thinges have I spoken vnto you in proverbes. The tyme will come when I shall no moare speake to you in proverbes: but I shall shewe you playnly from my father.
16:26At that daye shall ye axe in myne name. And I saye not vnto you that I will speake vnto my father for you
16:27For ye father him selfe loveth you because ye have loved me and have beleved that I came out from God.
16:28I went out from the father and came into the worlde: and I leve the worlde agayne and go to ye father.
16:29His disciples sayd vnto him: loo now speakest thou playnly and thou vsest no proverbe.
16:30Nowe knowe we that thou vnderstondest all thinges and nedest not yt eny man shuld axe the eny question. Therfore beleve we that thou camst fro god.
16:31Iesus answered them: Now ye do beleve.
16:32Beholde ye houre draweth nye and is already come yt ye shalbe scatered every man his wayes and shall leave me alone. And yet am I not alone. For ye father is with me.
16:33These wordes have I spoke vnto you yt in me ye might have peace. For in ye worlde shall ye have tribulacio: but be of good cheare I have over come the worlde.

16:1These thinges haue I sayde vnto you, that ye shulde not be offended.
16:2They shal excomunicate you. The tyme commeth, that who soeuer putteth you to death, shal thynke that he doth seruyce vnto God.
16:3And soch thinges shal they do vnto you, because they haue nether knowne ye father ner yet me.
16:4But these thinges haue I sayde vnto you, that whan the tyme cometh ye maye thynke theron, that I tolde you. But these thinges haue I not sayde vnto you from the begynnynge: For I was with you.
16:5But now I go vnto him that sent me, & none of you axeth me: Whither goest thou?
16:6but because I haue sayde these thinges vnto you, youre hert is full of sorowe.
16:7Neuertheles I tell you the trueth, It is better for you yt I go awaye: For yf I go not awaye that comforter commeth not vnto you: but yf I departe, I wil sende hi vnto you.
16:8And whan he commeth, he shal rebuke the worlde of synne, and of righteousnes, & of iudgment.
16:9Of synne, because they beleue not on me.
16:10Of righteousnes, because I go to the father, and ye shal se me nomore.
16:11Of iudgmet, because the prynce of this worlde is iudged allready.
16:12I haue yet moch to saye vnto you, but ye can not now beare it awaye:
16:13howbeit whan he (the sprete of trueth commeth) he shal lede you in to all trueth. For he shal not speake of himself, but what soeuer he shal heare, that shal he speake: and he shall shewe you, what is for to come.
16:14He shal glorifye me: for he shal receaue of myne, and shal shewe vnto you.
16:15All that the father hath, is myne. Therfore haue I sayde: he shal receaue of myne, and shewe vnto you.
16:16After a litle whyle, and ye shal not se me: and agayne after a litle whyle, and ye shal se me: for I go to the father.
16:17The saide some of his disciples amonge themselues: What is this that he sayeth vnto vs, After a litle whyle, and ye shal not se me: & agayne after a litle whyle, & ye shal se me: for I go to the father?
16:18Then sayde they: What is this, that he sayeth: After a litle whyle? We can not tell what he sayeth.
16:19Then perceaued Iesus that they wolde axe him, and he sayde vnto them: Ye enquyre of this amonge youre selues, that I sayde: After a litle whyle, and ye shal not se me: & agayne after a litle whyle, and ye shal se me.
16:20Verely verely I saye vnto you: Ye shal wepe and lamente, but the worlde shal reioyse: Ye shal be sory, but youre sorowe shal be turned in to ioye.
16:21A woman whan she trauayleth, hath sorowe, for hir houre is come. But whan she is delyuered of the childe, she thinketh nomore of the anguyshe, for ioye that a man is borne in to the worlde.
16:22And now haue ye sorowe also: but I wil se you agayne, and youre hert shal reioyse, and youre ioye shal noman take from you.
16:23And in that daye shal ye axe me no question. Verely verely I saye vnto you: Yf ye axe ye father ought in my name, he shal geue it you.
16:24Hither to haue ye axed nothinge in my name. Axe, and ye shal receaue, yt youre ioye maye be perfecte.
16:25These thinges haue I spoken vnto you by prouerbes. Neuertheles the tyme commeth, that I shal speake nomore by prouerbes, but I shal shewe you planely of my father.
16:26In that daye shal ye axe in my name. And I saye not vnto you, that I wyl praye vnto the father for you:
16:27for the father himself loueth you, because ye haue loued me, & beleued that I am come out from God.
16:28I wente out from the father, and came in to the worlde: Agayne, I leaue ye worlde, and go to the father.
16:29His disciples sayde vnto him: Beholde, now talkest thou planely, and speakest no prouerbe.
16:30Now are we sure yt thou knowest all thinges, and nedest not that eny ma shulde axe the. Therfore beleue we, that thou camest out from God:
16:31Iesus answered them: Now ye do beleue:
16:32Beholde, the houre draweth nye, and is come allready, that ye shalbe scatred, euery man in to his awne, and shal leaue me alone: and yet am I not alone, for the father is with me.
16:33These thinges haue I spoken vnto you, that in me ye might haue peace. In ye worlde haue ye trouble, but be of good comforte, I haue ouercome the worlde.
