1:1	In the former treatyse (deare frende Theophilus) I haue written of all that Iesus beganne to do and teache,
1:2	vntyll the day in whyche he was taken vp after that he, through the holy ghost, had geuen commaundementes vnto the Apostles whiche he had chosen:
1:3	to whom also he shewed him selfe aliue after his passion by many tokens, apperynge vnto them fourty dayes, & speakinge of the kyngdome of God,
1:4	& gathered them together, and commaunded them, that they shoulde not departe from Hierusalem: but to wayt for the promys of the father, wherof ye haue hearde of me.
1:5	For Iohn baptysed with water: but ye shal be baptised with the holy ghost, and that wyth in thys feawe dayes.
1:6	When they were come together they axed of him saiynge: Lorde wylt thou at thys tyme restore againe the kyngdome to Israel?
1:7	And he sayed vnto them: It is not for you to know the tymes or the seasons which the father hath put in hys owne power
1:8	but ye shall receiue power of the holy ghost, whiche shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses vnto me in Hierusalem, and in al Iewrye, and in Samary and euen vnto the worldes ende.
1:9	And when he had spoken these thynges whyle they beheld, he was taken vp, and a cloud receiued him vp out of their sighte,
1:10	And while they loked stedfastlye vp to heauen as he went, beholde two men stode by them in whyt apparell,
1:11	whyche also sayde: ye men of Galile, why stande ye gasynge vp into heauen? This same Iesus which is taken from you into heauen, shal so come, euen as ye haue sene hym go into heauen.
1:12	Then returned they vnto Hierusalem from mounte Oliuete, whiche is nie to Hierusalem counteynynge a saboth dayes iorney.
1:13	And when they were come in, they went vp into a parler where abode bothe Peter, and Iames, Iohn and Andrew, Philip & Thomas, Bartlemew and Matthewe, Iames the sonne of Alpheus and Simon zelotes, and Iudas Iames sonne.
1:14	These all continued wyth one accorde in prayer and supplicacion with the women and Mary the mother of Iesu, and with hys brethren.
1:15	And in those dayes Peter stode vp in the myddes of the dyscyples and sayde (the numbre of names that were together, were about an hundred and twenty)
1:16	Ye men and brethren this scripture muste haue nedes ben fulfilled, which the holy ghost through the mouth of Dauid spake before of Iudas, whiche was gyde to them that toke Iesus.
1:17	For he was noumbred wyth vs and had obtayned felowshype in this ministracion.
1:18	And the same hath now possessed a plot of grounde with the rewarde of iniquitie, and when he was hanged, brast a sondre in the myddes. and all his bowels gushed out.
1:19	And it is knowen vnto all the inhabiters of Ierusalem, in so much that, that felde is called in theyr mother tonge Acheldama, that is to say, the bloude fielde.
1:20	It is written in the boke of Psalmes: His habitacion be voide, and no man be dwelling ther in: and his Byshoprycke let another take.
1:21	Wherfore of these men whiche haue companyed with vs all the tyme that the Lorde Iesus went in and oute among vs,
1:22	beginning at the baptisme of Iohn, vnto that same daye that he was taken vp from vs, muste one be ordeyned to beare wytnes with vs of hys resurreccion.
1:23	And they apoynted two, Ioseph called Barsabas (whose syr name was Iustus) and Mathias.
1:24	And they praysed saiynge: thou Lorde whyche knowest the hertes af all men, shewe whether of these two thou hast chosen,
1:25	that the one may take the roume of this mynystracion and Apostleshippe, from that which Iudas by transgression fel, that he myght go to his owne place.
1:26	And they gaue forth theyr lottes, and the lot fell on Mathias, and he was counted with the eleuen Apostles.

1:4	And when he had gathered them together, he commanded them, that they should not depart from Hierusalem, but to waite for the promise of the Father, which sayde hee, yee haue heard of me.
1:5	For Iohn in deede baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the holy Ghost within these fewe daies.
1:6	When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdome to Israel?
1:7	And hee saide vnto them, It is not for you to know the times, or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his owne power,
1:8	But yee shall receiue power of the holy Ghost, when he shall come on you: and ye shalbe witnesses vnto me both in Hierusalem and in all Iudea, and in Samaria, and vnto the vttermost part of the earth.
1:9	And when he had spoken these things, while they behelde, he was taken vp: for a cloude tooke him vp out of their sight.
1:10	And while they looked stedfastly towarde heauen, as hee went, beholde, two men stoode by them in white apparell,
1:11	Which also sayde, Yee men of Galile, why stande yee gasing into heauen? This Iesus which is taken vp from you into heauen, shall so come, as yee haue seene him goe into heauen.
1:12	Then returned they vnto Hierusalem from the mount that is called the mount of Oliues, which is neere to Hierusalem, being from it a Sabbath daies iourney.
1:13	And when they were come in, they went vp into an vpper chamber, where abode both Peter and Iames, and Iohn, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartlemew, and Matthewe, Iames the sonne of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Iudas Iames brother.
1:14	These all continued with one accorde in prayer and supplication with the women, and Marie the mother of Iesus, and with his brethren.
1:15	And in those dayes Peter stoode vp in the middes of the disciples, and sayde (nowe the nomber of names that were in one place were about an hundreth and twentie.)
1:16	Yee men and brethren, this scripture must needes haue beene fulfilled, which the holy Ghost by the mouth of Dauid spake before of Iudas, which was guide to them that tooke Iesus.
1:17	For hee was nombred with vs, and had obteined fellowship in this ministration.
1:18	He therefore hath purchased a field with the reward of iniquitie: and when he had throwen downe himselfe headlong, hee brast asunder in the middes, and all his bowels gushed out.
1:19	And it is knowen vnto all the inhabitants of Hierusalem, in so much, that that field is called in their owne language, Aceldama, That is, the field of blood.
1:20	For it is written in the booke of Psalmes, Let his habitation be void, and let no man dwel therein: also, Let another take his charge.
1:21	Wherefore of these men which haue companied with vs, all the time that the Lord Iesus was conuersant among vs,
1:22	Beginning from the baptisme of Iohn vnto the day that hee was taken vp from vs, must one of them bee made a witnesse with vs of his resurrection.
1:23	And they presented two, Ioseph called Barsabas, whose surname was Iustus, and Matthias.
1:24	And they praied, saying, Thou Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shewe whether of these two thou hast chosen,
1:25	That he may take the roume of this ministration and Apostleship, from which Iudas hath gone astray, to goe to his owne place.
1:26	Then they gaue foorth their lottes: and the lotte fell on Matthias, and hee was by a common consent counted with the eleuen Apostles.

1:19	And it was knowen vnto all the dwellers at Hierusalem, insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.
1:20	For it is written in the booke of Psalmes, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: And his Bishopricke let another take.
1:21	Wherefore of these men which haue companied with vs all the time that the Lord Iesus went in and out among vs,
1:22	Beginning from the baptisme of Iohn, vnto that same day that he was taken vp from vs, must one be ordained to be a witnesse with vs of his resurrection.
