| 8:1 | Saul consented vnto hys death. And at that tyme there was a greate persecucyon agaynst the congregacyon which was at Ierusalem, and they were all scatered abrode thorowout the regyons of Iewry and Samaria, except the apostles. |
| 8:2 | But deuout men dressed Steuen, and made great lamentacyon ouer hym. |
| 8:3 | As for Saul he made hauocke of the congregacyon, and entred into euery house, and drew out both men and women, and thrust them into preson. |
| 8:4 | Therfore, they that were scatered abrode, went euery where preachyng the worde of God. |
| 8:5 | Then came Philip into a cytie of Samaria, & preached Christ vnto them. |
| 8:6 | And the people gaue hede vnto those thynges which Philip spake wt one accord, hearyng & seyng the myracles whych he dyd. |
| 8:7 | For vncleane spretes cryinge with loude voyce, came out of many that were possessed of them. And many taken wt palsyes, & many that halted, were healed. |
| 8:8 | And ther was great ioye in that cyte. |
| 8:9 | But ther was a certen man called Symo, which before tyme in the same cytye vsed witchecrafte, and bewitched the people of Samary, saying that he was a man that coulde do great thynges. |
| 8:10 | Whom they regarded, from the lest to the greatest, sayinge: this man is the power of God, which is called greate. |
| 8:11 | And him they sett moche by, because that of longe tyme he had bewitched them with sorceries. |
| 8:12 | But assone as they gaue credence to Philippes preachyng of the kyngdome of God, & of the name of Iesu Christ, they were baptysed both men & wemen. |
| 8:13 | Then Simon hym selfe beleued also. And whan he was baptised, he continued wt Philip, and wondred, beholding the miracles & sygnes, which were shewed. |
| 8:14 | When the apostles which were at Ierusalem herd saye, that Samary had receaued the word of God, they sent vnto them Peter & Iohn. |
| 8:15 | Which whan they were come downe, prayed for them, that they might receaue the holy ghost. |
| 8:16 | For as yet he was come on no one of them: but they were baptysed onely in the name of Christ Iesu. |
| 8:17 | Then layd they their handes on them, & they receaued the holy ghos |
| 8:18 | When Simon sawe that thorow laying on of the apostles handes, the holy ghost was geuen, he offered them money, |
| 8:19 | saying: geue me also this power, that on whomsoeuer I put the handes, he maye receaue the holy ghost. |
| 8:20 | But Peter sayd vnto him: thy money perisshe with the, because thou hast thought that the gift of God maye be obteyned with money. |
| 8:21 | Thou hast nether parte, nor felowshyp in thys busynes. For thy hert is not ryght in the syght of God. |
| 8:22 | Repente therfore of thys thy wyckednes, & praye God, that the thought of thyne herte maye be forgeuen the. |
| 8:23 | For I perceaue that thou art full of bitter gall, and wrapped in iniquite. |
| 8:24 | Then answered Simon & sayde: praye ye to the Lorde for me, that none of these thynges which ye haue spoken, fall on me. |
| 8:25 | And they when they had testifyed and preached the worde of God, returned towarde Ierusalem, and preached the gospell in many cyties of the Samaritans. |
| 8:26 | The aungell of the Lorde spake vnto Philip, saying: aryse, & go toward the south vnto the waye that goeth downe from Ierusalem vnto the cyte of Gaza, which is in the desert. |
| 8:27 | And he arose, & went on. And behold, a man of Ethiopia (a chamberlene, & of greate auctorite with Candace quene of the Ethiopians, & had the rule of al her treasure came to Ierusalem for to worshyp. |
| 8:28 | And as he returned home agayne syttinge in hys charet, he red Esay the prophete. |
| 8:29 | Then the sprete sayd vnto Philip: go neare, and ioyne thy self to yonder charet. |
| 8:30 | And Philip ran to hym, and heard him reade the prophete Esay, and sayd: Understandest thou what thou readest? |
| 8:31 | And he said: How can I, except I had a gyde? And he desyred Philip, that he wolde come vp, and sytt with hym. |
| 8:32 | The tenoure of the scripture which he read, was this: He was led as a shepe to be slayne: and lyke a lambe domme before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth. |
| 8:33 | Because of hys humblenes, he was not estemed. But who shal declare hys generacion? for his lyfe is taken from the earth. |
| 8:34 | The chamberlayn answered Philip, and sayd: I praye the of whom speaketh the prophete thys? of hym selfe, or of some other man? |
| 8:35 | Philip opened hys mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached vnto hym Iesus. |
| 8:36 | And as they went on theyr waye, they cam vnto a certen water, and the chamberlayne said: Se, here is water what doth let me to be baptysed? |
| 8:37 | Philip sayde vnto him: If thou beleue with all thyne hert, thou mayest. And he answered, and sayde: I beleue that Iesus Christ is the sonne of God. |
| 8:38 | And he commaunded the charet to stande styll. And they went downe both into the water: both Philip and also the chamberlayn, and he baptysed hym. |
| 8:39 | And assone as they were come out of the water, the sprete of the Lord caught awaye Philip, and the chamberlayn sawe him nomore. And he went on hys waye reioysinge: |
| 8:40 | but Philip was founde at Azotus. And he walked thorowout the countre, preaching in all the cyties, tyll he came to Cesarea. |

| 8:7 | For manye of hem that hadden vnclene spirits, crieden with a greet vois, and wenten out. |
| 8:8 | And manye sijk in the palsi, and crokid, weren heelid. |
| 8:9 | Therfor greet ioye was maad in that citee. But there was a man in that citee, whos name was Symount, a witche, that hadde disseyued the folc of Samarie, seiynge, that him silf was sum greet man. |
| 8:10 | Whom alle herkeneden, fro the leest to the moost, and seiden, This is the vertu of God, which is clepid greet. |
| 8:11 | And thei leueden hym, for long tyme he hadde maddid hem with his witche craftis. |
| 8:12 | But whanne thei hadden bileued to Filip, `that prechide of the kingdom of God, men and wymmen weren baptisid in the name of Jhesu Crist. |
| 8:13 | And thanne also Symount him silf bileued; and whanne he was baptisid, he drouy to Filip; and he sai also that signes and grete vertues weren don, he was astonyed, and wondride. |
| 8:14 | But whanne the apostlis that weren at Jerusalem, hadden herd that Samarie hadde resseyued the word of God, thei senten to hem Petre and Joon. |

| 8:19 | Yyue ye also to me this power, that whom euere Y schal leye on myn hoondis, that he resseyue the Hooli Goost. |
| 8:20 | But Petir seide to hym, Thi money be with thee into perdicioun, for thou gessidist the yifte of God schulde be had for monei. |
| 8:21 | Ther is no part, ne sort to thee, in this word, for thin herte is not riytful bifor God. |
| 8:22 | Therfor do thou penaunce for this wickidnesse of thee, and preie God, if perauenture this thouyt of thin herte be foryouun to thee. |
| 8:23 | For Y se that thou art in the gall of bitternesse and in the boond of wickidnesse. |
| 8:24 | And Symount answeride, and seide, Preie ye for me to the Lord, that no thing of these thingis that ye han seid, com on me. |
| 8:25 | And thei witnessiden, and spaken the word of the Lord, and yeden ayen to Jerusalem, and prechiden to many cuntrees of Samaritans. |
| 8:26 | And an aungel of the Lord spak to Filip, and seide, Ryse thou, and go ayens the south, to the weie that goith doun fro Jerusalem in to Gasa; this is desert. |
| 8:27 | And he roos, and wente forth. And lo! a man of Ethiopie, a myyti man seruaunt, a yelding of Candace, the queen of Ethiopiens, which was on alle her richessis, cam to worschipe in Jerusalem. |
| 8:28 | And he turnede ayen, sittinge on his chare, and redinge Isaie, the profete. |
| 8:29 | And the spirit seide to Filip, Neiye thou, and ioyne thee to this chare. |
| 8:30 | And Filip `ran to, and herde hym redynge Ysaie, the prophete. And he seide, Gessist thou, whether thou vndirstondist, what thingis thou redist? |
| 8:31 | And he seide, How may Y, if no man schewe to me? And he preiede Filip, that he schulde come vp, and sitte with hym. |
| 8:32 | And the place of the scripture that he redde, was this, As a scheep he was led to sleyng, and as a lomb bifor a man that scherith him is doumb with out vois, so he openyde not his mouth. |
| 8:33 | In mekenesse his dom was takun vp; who schal telle out the generacioun of hym? For his lijf schal be takun awei fro the erthe. |
| 8:34 | And the gelding answeride to Filip, and seide, Y biseche thee, of `what profete seith he this thing? of him silf, ethir of ony othere? |
| 8:35 | And Filip openyde his mouth, and bigan at this scripture, and prechide to him Jhesu. |
| 8:36 | And the while thei wenten bi the weie, thei camen to a water. And the gelding seide, Lo! watir; who forbedith me to be baptisid? |
| 8:37 | And Filip seide, If thou bileuest of al the herte, it is leueful. And he answeride, and seide, Y bileue that Jhesu Crist is the sone of God. |
| 8:38 | And he comaundide the chare to stonde stille. And thei wenten doun bothe into the watir, Filip and the gelding, and Filip baptiside hym. |
| 8:39 | And whanne thei weren come vp of the watir, the spirit of the Lord rauyschide Filip, and the gelding say hym no more. |
| 8:40 | And Filip was foundun in Azotus; and he passide forth, and prechide to alle citees, til he cam to Cesarie. |

| 8:14 | Whan the Apostles which were at Ierusalem, herde, that Samaria had receaued ye worde of God, they sent vnto the Peter and Ihon. |
| 8:15 | Which, wha they were come, prayed for the, yt they might receaue the holy goost. |
| 8:16 | For as yet he was come vpon none of them but they were baptysed onely in the name of Christ Iesu. |
