10:15And eft the secounde tyme the vois was maad to him, That thing that God hath clensid, seye thou not vnclene.
10:16And this thing was don bi thries; and anoon the vessel was resseyued ayen.
10:17And while that Petre doutide with ynne hym silf, what the visioun was that he say, lo! the men, that weren sent fro Corneli, souyten the hous of Symount, and stoden at the yate.
10:18And whanne thei hadden clepid, thei axiden if Symount, that is named Petre, hadde there herbore.
10:19And while Petre thouyte on the visioun, the spirit seide to hym, Lo! thre men seken thee.
10:20Therfor ryse thou, and go doun, and go with hem, and doute thou no thing, for Y sente hem.
10:21And Petre cam doun to the men, and seide, Lo! Y am, whom ye seken; what is the cause, for which ye ben come?
10:22And thei seiden, Cornelie, the centurien, a iust man, and dredinge God, and hath good witnessyng of alle the folc of Jewis, took aunswere of an hooli aungel, to clepe thee in to his hous, and to here wordis of thee.
10:23Therfor he ledde hem inne, and resseyuede in herbore; and that nyyt thei dwelliden with hym. And in the dai suynge he roos, and wente forth with hem; and sum of the britheren folewiden hym fro Joppe, that thei be witnessis to Petre.
10:24And the other dai he entride in to Cesarie. And Cornelie abood hem, with hise cousyns, and necessarie freendis, that weren clepid togidere.
10:25And it was don, whanne Petre was come ynne, Corneli cam metynge hym, and felle doun at hise feet, and worschipide him.
10:26But Petre reiside hym, and seide, Aryse thou, also Y my silf am a man, as thou.
10:27And he spak with hym, and wente in, and foonde many that weren come togidere.
10:28And he seide to hem, Ye witen, how abhomynable it is to a Jewe, to be ioyned ether to come to an alien; but God schewide to me, that no man seye a man comyn, ethir vnclene.
10:29For which thing Y cam, whanne Y was clepid, with out douting. Therfor Y axe you, for what cause han ye clepid me?
10:30And Cornelie seide, To dai foure daies in to this our, Y was preiynge and fastynge in the nynthe our in myn hous. And lo! a man stood bifore me in a whijt cloth, and seide,
10:31Cornelie, thi preier is herd, and thin almesdedis ben in mynde in the siyt of God.
10:32Therfor sende thou in to Joppe, and clepe Symount, that is named Petre; this is herborid in the hous of Symount coriour, bisidis the see. This, whanne he schal come, schal speke to thee.
10:33Therfor anoon Y sente to thee, and thou didist wel in comynge to vs. `Now therfor we alle ben present in thi siyt, to here the wordis, what euer ben comaundid to thee of the Lord.
10:34And Petre openyde his mouth, and seide, In trewthe Y haue foundun, that God is no acceptor of persoones;
10:35but in eche folk he that dredith God, and worchith riytwisnesse, is accept to hym.
10:36God sente a word to the children of Israel, schewinge pees bi Jhesu Crist; this is Lord of alle thingis.
10:37Ye witen the word that is maad thorou al Judee, and bigan at Galile, aftir the baptym that Joon prechide, Jhesu of Nazareth;
10:38hou God anoyntide hym with the Hooli Goost, and vertu; which passide forth in doynge wel, and heelynge alle men oppressid of the deuel, for God was with hym.
10:39And we ben witnessis of alle thingis, whiche he dide in the cuntrei of Jewis, and of Jerusalem; whom thei slowen, hangynge in a tre.
10:40And God reiside this in the thridde dai, and yaf hym to be maad knowun,
10:41not to al puple, but to witnessis bifor ordeyned of God; to vs that eeten and drunken with hym, after that he roos ayen fro deth.
10:42And he comaundide to vs to preche to the puple, and to witnesse, that he it is, that is ordeyned of God domesman of the quyk and of deede.
10:43To this alle prophetis beren witnessing, that alle men that bileuen in hym, schulen resseyue remyssioun of synnes bi his name.
10:44And yit while that Petre spak these wordis, the Hooli Goost felde on alle that herden the word.
10:45And the feithful men of circumcisioun, that camen with Petre, wondriden, that also in to naciouns the grace of the Hooli Goost is sched out.
10:46For thei herden hem spekynge in langagis, and magnyfiynge God.
10:47Thanne Petre answeride, Whether ony man may forbede watir, that these ben not baptisid, that han also resseyued the Hooli Goost as we?
10:48And he comaundide hem to be baptisid in the name of the Lord Jhesu Crist. Thanne thei preieden hym, that he schulde dwelle with hem sum daies.

10:1Futhermore there was a certaine man in Cesarea called Cornelius, a captaine of the band called the Italian band,
10:2A deuoute man, and one that feared God with all his housholde, which gaue much almes to the people, and prayed God continually.
10:3He sawe in a vision euidently (about the ninth houre of the day) an Angel of God comming in to him, and saying vnto him, Cornelius.
10:4But when hee looked on him, hee was afrayd, and sayd, What is it, Lord? and he sayd vnto him, Thy prayers and thine almes are come vp into remembrance before God.
10:5Nowe therefore send men to Ioppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter.
10:6Hee lodgeth with one Simon a Tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to doe.
10:7And when the Angel which spake vnto Cornelius, was departed, he called two of his seruants, and a souldier that feared God, one of them that waited on him,
10:8And tolde them all things, and sent them to Ioppa.
10:9On the morow as they went on their iourney, and drew neere vnto the citie, Peter went vp vpon the house to pray, about the sixt houre.
10:10Then waxed hee an hungred, and would haue eaten: but while they made some thing ready, he fell into a trance.
10:11And hee sawe heauen opened, and a certaine vessell come downe vnto him, as it had bene a great sheete, knit at the foure corners, and was let downe to the earth.
10:12Wherein were all maner of foure footed beastes of the earth, and wilde beastes and creeping things, and foules of the heauen.
10:13And there came a voyce to him, Arise, Peter: kill, and eate.
10:14But Peter sayd, Not so, Lord: for I haue neuer eaten any thing that is polluted, or vncleane.
10:15And the voyce spake vnto him againe the second time, The things that God hath purified, pollute thou not.
10:16This was so done thrise: and the vessell was drawen vp againe into heauen.
10:17Nowe while Peter douted in himselfe what this vision which he had seene, meant, beholde, the men which were sent from Cornelius, had inquired for Simons house, and stoode at the gate,
10:18And called, and asked, whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.
10:19And while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit sayde vnto him, Beholde, three men seeke thee.
10:20Arise therefore, and get thee downe, and goe with them, and doute nothing: For I haue sent them.
10:21Then Peter went downe to the men, which were sent vnto him from Cornelius, and sayd, Beholde, I am he whome ye seeke: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
10:22And they sayd, Cornelius the captaine, a iust man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Iewes, was warned from heauen by an holy Angel, to send for thee into his house, and to heare thy wordes.
10:23Then called he them in, and lodged them, and the next day, Peter went foorth with them, and certaine brethren from Ioppa accompanied him.
10:24And the day after, they entred into Cesarea. Nowe Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsemen, and special friends.
10:25And it came to passe as Peter came in, that Cornelius met him, and fell downe at his feete, and worshipped him.
10:26But Peter tooke him vp, saying, Stand vp: for euen I my selfe am a man.
10:27And as he talked with him, he came in, and found many that were come together.
10:28And he sayd vnto them, Ye know that it is an vnlawfull thing for a man that is a Iewe, to company, or come vnto one of another nation: but God hath shewed me, that I should not call any man polluted, or vncleane.
10:29Therefore came I vnto you without saying nay, when I was sent for. I aske therefore, for what intent haue ye sent for me?
10:30Then Cornelius sayd, Foure dayes agoe, about this houre, I fasted, and at the ninth houre I prayed in mine house, and beholde, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
10:31And sayd, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine almes are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
10:32Send therefore to Ioppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter (he is lodged in the house of Simon a Tanner by the sea side) who when he commeth, shall speake vnto thee.
10:33Then sent I for thee immediately, and thou hast well done to come. Nowe therefore are we all here present before God, to heare all things that are commanded thee of God.
10:34Then Peter opened his mouth, and sayd, Of a trueth I perceiue, that God is no accepter of persons.
10:35But in euery nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousnesse, is accepted with him.
10:36Ye know the worde which God hath sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace by Iesus Christ, which is Lord of all:
10:37Euen the worde which came through all Iudea, beginning in Galile, after the baptisme which Iohn preached.
10:38To wit, howe God anointed Iesus of Nazareth with the holy Ghost, and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the deuill: for God was with him.
10:39And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Iewes, and in Hierusalem, whom they slewe, hanging him on a tree.
10:40Him God raysed vp the third day, and caused that he was shewed openly:
10:41Not to all the people, but vnto the witnesses chosen before of God, euen to vs which did eate and drinke with him, after he arose from the dead.
10:42And he commanded vs to preach vnto the people, and to testifie, that it is he that is ordained of God a iudge of quicke and dead.
10:43To him also giue all the Prophets witnesse, that through his Name all that beleeue in him, shall receiue remission of sinnes.
10:44While Peter yet spake these wordes, the holy Ghost fell on al them which heard the word.
10:45So they of the circumcision which beleeued, were astonied, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was powred out the gift of the holy Ghost.
10:46For they heard them speake with tongues, and magnifie God. Then answered Peter,
10:47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which haue receiued the holy Ghost, as well as we?
10:48So he commanded them to be baptized in the Name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tary certaine dayes.

10:1There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the regiment called the Italian Regiment,
10:2a devout man and one who reverenced God with all his household, who gave many charitable gifts to the people, and prayed to God always.
10:3About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in to him, and saying to him, "Cornelius!"
10:4And when he looked at him, he was afraid, and said, "What is it, Lord?" So he said to him, "Your prayers and your charitable gifts have come up as a memorial before God.
10:5And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon whose surname is Peter.
10:6He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is beside the sea. He will tell you what you must do."
10:7And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier from among those who waited on him continually.
10:8So when he had explained all these things to them, he sent them to Joppa.
10:9On the next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.
10:10Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance
10:11and saw heaven opened and a certain object just like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth.
10:12In it were all kinds of four footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.
10:13And a voice came to him, "Rise, Peter; kill and eat."
10:14But Peter said, "Not so, Lord! Because I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean."
10:15And a voice spoke to him again the second time, "What God has cleansed you must not call common."
10:16This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.
10:17Now while Peter wondered within himself what this vision which he had seen meant, behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate.
10:18And they called and asked whether Simon, whose surname was Peter, was lodging there.
10:19While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men are seeking you.
10:20Therefore arise, go down and go with them, doubting nothing; because I have sent them."
10:21Then Peter went down to the men who had been sent to him from Cornelius, and said, "Behold, I am he whom you seek. What is the reason then you have come?"
10:22And they said, "Cornelius the centurion, a just man, one who reverences God and has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was advised from God through a holy angel to summon you to his house, and to hear words from you."
10:23Then he invited them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter went away with them, and some brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
10:24And the following day they entered into Caesarea. Now Cornelius was waiting for them, and had called together his relatives and close friends.
10:25As Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him.
10:26But Peter lifted him up, saying, "Stand up; I myself am also a man."
10:27And as he talked with him, he went in and found many who had come together.
10:28Then he said to them, "You know how unlawful it is for a someone who is a Jew to keep company with or go to one of another nation. But God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
10:29Therefore I came to you without objection as soon as I was sent for. I ask, then, for what reason have you sent for me?"
10:30So Cornelius said, "Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
10:31and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your charitable gifts are remembered in the sight of God.
10:32Therefore send away to Joppa and call Simon here, whose surname is Peter. He is lodging in the house of one Simon, a tanner, beside the sea. When he comes, he will speak to you.'
10:33So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well that you came. Now therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things that are commanded you from God."
10:34Then Peter opened his mouth and said: "In truth I perceive that God shows no personal favoritism.
10:35But in every nation whoever reverences Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.
10:36The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ, He is Lord of all,
10:37that word I speak of, you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached:
10:38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him.
10:39And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they hung on a tree and murdered.
10:40Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly,
10:41not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.
10:42And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be the Judge of the living and the dead.
10:43To Him all the prophets give witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins."
10:44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.
10:45And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.
10:46Because they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then they responded to Peter,
10:47"Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?"
10:48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.
