9:1	But Saul, yit a blower of manassis and of betingis ayens the disciplis of the Lord,
9:2	cam to the prince of preestis, and axide of hym lettris in to Damask, to the synagogis; that if he fond ony men and wymmen of this lijf, he schulde lede hem boundun to Jerusalem.
9:3	And whanne he made his iourney, it bifelde, that he cam nyy to Damask. And sudenli a liyt from heuene schoon aboute hym;
9:4	and he fallide to the erthe, and herde a vois seiynge to hym, Saul, Saul, what pursuest thou me?
9:5	And he seide, Who art thou, Lord? And he seide, Y am Jhesu of Nazareth, whom thou pursuest. It is hard to thee, to kike ayens the pricke.
9:6	And he tremblide, and wondride, and seide, Lord, what wolt thou that Y do?
9:7	And the Lord seide to hym, Rise vp, and entre in to the citee, and it schal be seide to thee, what it bihoueth thee to do. And tho men that wenten with hym, stoden astonyed; for thei herden a vois, but thei sien no man.
9:8	And Saul roos fro the earth; and whanne hise iyen weren opened, he say no thing. And thei drowen hym bi the hondis, and ledden hym in to Damask.
9:9	And he was thre daies not seynge; `and he eete not, nether drank.
9:10	And a disciple, Ananye bi name, was at Damask. And the Lord seide to hym in `a visioun, Ananye. And he seide, Lo!
9:11	Y, Lord. And the Lord seide to hym, Rise thou, and go in to a streete that is clepid Rectus; and seke, in the hous of Judas, Saul bi name of Tharse. For lo! he preieth; and he say a man,
9:12	Ananye bi name, entringe and leiynge on hym hoondis, that he resseyue siyt.
9:13	And Ananye answerde, Lord, Y haue herd of many of this man, how greete yuelis he dide to thi seyntis in Jerusalem;
9:14	and this hath power of the princis of preestis, to bynde alle men that clepen thi name to helpe.
9:15	And the Lord seide to hym, Go thou, for this is to me a vessel of chesing, that he bere my name bifore hethene men, and kingis, and tofore the sones of Israel.
9:16	For Y schal schewe to hym, how grete thingis it bihoueth hym to suffre for my name.
9:17	And Ananye wente, and entride in to the hous; and leide on hym his hondis, and seide, Saul brothir, the Lord Jhesu sente me, that apperide to thee in the weie, in which thou camest, that thou se, and be fulfillid with the Hooli Goost.
9:18	And anoon as the scalis felden fro hise iyen, he resseyuede siyt. And he roos, and was baptisid.
9:19	And whanne he hadde takun mete, he was coumfortid. And he was bi sum daies with the disciplis, that weren at Damask.
9:20	And anoon he entride in to the synagogis, and prechide the Lord Jhesu, for this is the sone of God.
9:21	And alle men that herden hym, wondriden, and seiden, Whether this is not he that impugnede in Jerusalem hem that clepiden to help this name? and hidir he cam for this thing, that he schulde leede hem boundun to the princis of preestis?
9:22	But Saul myche more wexede strong, and confoundide the Jewis that dwelliden at Damask, and affermyde that this is Crist.
9:23	And whanne manye daies weren fillid, Jewis maden a counsel, that thei schulden sle hym.
9:24	And the aspies of hem weren maad knowun to Saul. And thei kepten the yatis dai and niyt, that thei schulden sle him.
9:25	But hise disciplis token hym bi nyyt, and delyuereden hym, and leeten him doun in a leep bi the wal.
9:26	And whanne he cam in to Jerusalem, he assaiede to ioyne hym to the disciplis; and alle dredden hym, and leueden not that he was a disciple.
9:27	But Barnabas took, and ledde hym to the apostlis, and telde to hem, how in the weie he hadde seyn the Lord, and that he spak to hym, and hou in Damask he dide tristili in the name of Jhesu.
9:28	And he was with hem, and entride, and yede out in Jerusalem, and dide tristili in the name of Jhesu.
9:29	And he spak with hethene men, and disputide with Grekis. And thei souyten to sle hym.
9:30	Which thing whanne the britheren hadden knowe, thei ledden hym bi nyyt to Cesarie, and leten hym go to Tarsis.
9:31	And the chirche bi al Judee, and Galilee, and Samarie, hadde pees, and was edefied, and walkide in the drede of the Lord, and was fillid with coumfort of the Hooli Goost.
9:32	And it bifelde, that Petre, the while he passide aboute alle, cam to the hooli men that dwelliden at Lidde.
9:33	And he foond a man, Eneas bi name, that fro eiyte yeer he hadde leie `in bed; and he was sijk in palsy.
9:34	And Petre seide to hym, Eneas, the Lord Jhesu Crist heele thee; rise thou, and araye thee. And anoon he roos.
9:35	And alle men that dwelten at Lidde, and at Sarone, saien hym, whiche weren conuertid to the Lord.
9:36	And in Joppe was a disciplesse, whos name was Tabita, that is to seie, Dorcas. This was ful of good werkis and almesdedis, that sche dide.
9:37	And it bifelde in tho daies, that sche was sijk, and diede. And whanne thei hadden waischun hir, thei leiden hir in a soler.
9:38	And for Lidda was nyy Joppe, the disciplis herden that Petre was thereynne, and senten twei men to hym, and preieden, That thou tarie not to come to vs.
9:39	And Petre roos vp, and cam with hem. And whanne he was comun, thei ledden hym in to the soler. And alle widewis stoden aboute hym, wepynge, and schewynge cootis and clothis, which Dorcas made to hem.
9:40	And whanne alle men weren put with out forth, Petre knelide, and preiede. And he turnede to the bodi, and seide, Tabita, rise thou. And sche openyde hir iyen, and whanne sche siy Petre, sche sat vp ayen.
9:41	And he took hir bi the hond, and reiside hir. And whanne he hadde clepid the hooli men and widewis, he assignede hir alyue.
9:42	And it was maad knowun bi al Joppe; and many bileueden in the Lord.
9:43	And it was maad, that many daies he dwellide in Joppe, at oon Symount, a curiour.


9:1	And Saul yet breathing out threatnings and slaughter against the disciples of ye Lord, went vnto the hie Priest,
9:2	And desired of him letters to Damascus to the Synagogues, that if he found any that were of that way (either men or women) hee might bring them bound vnto Hierusalem.
9:3	Now as he iourneyed, it came to passe that as he was come neere to Damascus, suddenly there shined rounde about him a light from heauen.
9:4	And hee fell to the earth, and heard a voyce, saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
9:5	And he sayd, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord sayd, I am Iesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kicke against pricks.
9:6	He then both trembling and astonied, sayd, Lord, what wilt thou that I doe? And the Lord sayd vnto him, Arise and goe into the citie, and it shall be tolde thee what thou shalt doe.
9:7	The men also which iourneyed with him, stood amased, hearing his voyce, but seeing no man.
9:8	And Saul arose from the ground, and opened his eyes, but sawe no man. Then led they him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus,
9:9	Where he was three dayes without sight, and neither ate nor dranke.
9:10	And there was a certaine disciple at Damascus named Ananias, and to him sayd the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he sayd, Beholde, I am here Lord.
9:11	Then the Lord sayd vnto him, Arise, and goe into the streete which is called Straight, and seeke in the house of Iudas after one called Saul of Tarsus: for beholde, he prayeth.
9:12	(And he sawe in a vision a man named Ananias comming in to him, and putting his hands on him, that he might receiue his sight.)
9:13	Then Ananias answered, Lord, I haue heard by many of this man, howe much euill hee hath done to thy saints at Hierusalem.
9:14	Moreouer here hee hath authoritie of the hie Priestes, to binde all that call on thy Name.
9:15	Then the Lord said vnto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessell vnto me, to beare my Name before the Gentiles, and Kings, and the children of Israel.
9:16	For I will shewe him, howe many things he must suffer for my Names sake.
9:17	Then Ananias went his way, and entred into that house, and put his hands on him, and sayd, Brother Saul, the Lord hath sent me (euen Iesus that appeared vnto thee in the way as thou camest) that thou mightest receiue thy sight, and be filled with the holy Ghost.
9:18	And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had bene scales, and suddenly he receiued sight, and arose, and was baptized,
9:19	And receiued meate, and was strengthened. So was Saul certaine dayes with the disciples which were at Damascus.
9:20	And straightway hee preached Christ in the Synagogues, that he was that Sonne of God,
9:21	So that all that heard him, were amased, and sayde, Is not this hee, that made hauocke of them which called on this Name in Hierusalem, and came hither for that intent, that hee should bring them bound vnto the hie Priests?
9:22	But Saul encreased the more in strength, and confounded the Iewes which dwelt at Damascus, confirming, that this was that Christ.
9:23	And after that many dayes were fulfilled, the Iewes tooke counsell together, to kill him,
9:24	But their laying awayte was knowen of Saul: nowe they watched the gates day and night, that they might kill him.
9:25	Then the disciples tooke him by night, and put him through the wall, and let him downe by a rope in a basket.
9:26	And when Saul was come to Hierusalem, he assayed to ioyne himselfe with the disciples: but they were all afrayd of him, and beleeued not that he was a disciple.
9:27	But Barnabas tooke him, and brought him to the Apostles, and declared to them, howe hee had seene the Lord in the way, and that hee had spoken vnto him, and how he had spoken boldly at Damascus in the Name of Iesus.
9:28	And hee was conuersant with them at Hierusalem,
9:29	And spake boldly in the Name of the Lord Iesus, and spake and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.
9:30	But when the brethren knewe it, they brought him to Cesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.
9:31	Then had the Churches rest through all Iudea, and Galile, and Samaria, and were edified and walked in the feare of the Lord, and were multiplied by the comfort of the holy Ghost.
9:32	And it came to passe, as Peter walked throughout all quarters, hee came also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.
9:33	And there he found a certaine man named Aeneas, which had kept his couch eight yeeres, and was sicke of the palsie.
9:34	Then said Peter vnto him, Aeneas, Iesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise and trusse thy couch together. And he arose immediately.
9:35	And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron, sawe him, and turned to the Lord.
9:36	There was also at Ioppa a certaine woman, a disciple named Tabitha (which by interpretation is called Dorcas) she was full of good workes and almes which she did.
9:37	And it came to passe in those dayes, that she was sicke and dyed: and when they had washed her, they layd her in an vpper chamber.
9:38	Now forasmuch as Lydda was neere to Ioppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent vnto him two men, desiring that he would not delay to come vnto them.
9:39	Then Peter arose and came with them: and when hee was come, they brought him into the vpper chamber, where all the widowes stoode by him weeping, and shewing the coates and garments, which Dorcas made, while she was with them.
9:40	But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled downe, and prayed, and turned him to the body, and sayd, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes, and when she sawe Peter, sate vp.
9:41	Then he gaue her the hand and lift her vp, and called the Saints and widowes, and restored her aliue.
9:42	And it was knowen throughout all Ioppa, and many beleeued in the Lord.
9:43	And it came to passe that he taried many dayes in Ioppa with one Simon a Tanner.


9:1	Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest
9:2	and requested letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
9:3	As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven.
9:4	Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"
9:5	And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the prods."
9:6	So he, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You want me to do?" Then the Lord said to him, "Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."
9:7	And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one.
9:8	Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.
9:9	And he was without sight for three days, and neither ate nor drank.
9:10	Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Behold, I am here, Lord."
9:11	So the Lord said to him, "Arise and go to the street which is called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, because behold, he is praying."
9:12	And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight."
9:13	Then Ananias replied, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem.
9:14	And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name."
9:15	But the Lord said to him, "Go your way, because, he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before the Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel."
9:16	Because, I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake."
9:17	And Ananias went his way and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit."
9:18	And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.
9:19	So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.
9:20	And immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.
9:21	Then all who heard him were amazed, and said, "Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?"
9:22	But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this truly is the Christ.
9:23	Now after many days were past, the Jews plotted to kill him.
9:24	But their plot became known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night, to kill him.
9:25	Then the disciples took him by night and let him down by the wall in a basket.
9:26	And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join himself to the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple.
9:27	But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
9:28	So he was with them at Jerusalem, coming in and going out.
9:29	And he spoke boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus and disputed against the Hellenists, but they attempted to kill him.
9:30	Which when the brethren found out, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him out to Tarsus.
9:31	Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had rest and were edified. And walking in the reverence of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.
9:32	Now it came to pass, as Peter went through every corner of the country, that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda.
9:33	There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed.
9:34	And Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ makes you whole. Arise and make your bed." Then he arose immediately.
9:35	So all who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.
9:36	Now at Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did.
9:37	But it happened in those days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.
9:38	And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them.
9:39	Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.
9:40	But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning himself toward the body he said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.
9:41	Then he gave her his hand and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive.
9:42	And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.
9:43	So it was that he stayed many days in Joppa with Simon, a tanner.
