Acts - Chapter: 14


14:1	And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.
14:2	But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.
14:3	Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
14:4	But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.
14:5	And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,
14:6	They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:
14:7	And there they preached the gospel.
14:8	And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:
14:9	The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
14:10	Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.
14:11	And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.
14:12	And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.
14:13	Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.
14:14	Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,
14:15	And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
14:16	Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.
14:17	Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
14:18	And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.
14:19	And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
14:20	Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
14:21	And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,
14:22	Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
14:23	And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.
14:24	And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.
14:25	And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:
14:26	And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.
14:27	And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
14:28	And there they abode long time with the disciples.


14:1	εγενετο δε εν ικονιω κατα το αυτο εισελθειν αυτους εις την συναγωγην των ιουδαιων και λαλησαι ουτως ωστε πιστευσαι ιουδαιων τε και ελληνων πολυ πληθος
14:2	οι δε απειθουντες ιουδαιοι επηγειραν και εκακωσαν τας ψυχας των εθνων κατα των αδελφων
14:3	ικανον μεν ουν χρονον διετριψαν παρρησιαζομενοι επι τω κυριω τω μαρτυρουντι τω λογω της χαριτος αυτου και διδοντι σημεια και τερατα γινεσθαι δια των χειρων αυτων
14:4	εσχισθη δε το πληθος της πολεως και οι μεν ησαν συν τοις ιουδαιοις οι δε συν τοις αποστολοις
14:5	ως δε εγενετο ορμη των εθνων τε και ιουδαιων συν τοις αρχουσιν αυτων υβρισαι και λιθοβολησαι αυτους
14:6	συνιδοντες κατεφυγον εις τας πολεις της λυκαονιας λυστραν και δερβην και την περιχωρον
14:7	κακει ησαν ευαγγελιζομενοι
14:8	και τις ανηρ εν λυστροις αδυνατος τοις ποσιν εκαθητο χωλος εκ κοιλιας μητρος αυτου υπαρχων ος ουδεποτε περιπεπατηκει
14:9	ουτος ηκουεν του παυλου λαλουντος ος ατενισας αυτω και ιδων οτι πιστιν εχει του σωθηναι
14:10	ειπεν μεγαλη τη φωνη αναστηθι επι τους ποδας σου ορθος και ηλλετο και περιεπατει
14:11	οι δε οχλοι ιδοντες ο εποιησεν ο παυλος επηραν την φωνην αυτων λυκαονιστι λεγοντες οι θεοι ομοιωθεντες ανθρωποις κατεβησαν προς ημας
14:12	εκαλουν τε τον μεν βαρναβαν δια τον δε παυλον ερμην επειδη αυτος ην ο ηγουμενος του λογου
14:13	ο δε ιερευς του διος του οντος προ της πολεως αυτων ταυρους και στεμματα επι τους πυλωνας ενεγκας συν τοις οχλοις ηθελεν θυειν
14:14	ακουσαντες δε οι αποστολοι βαρναβας και παυλος διαρρηξαντες τα ιματια αυτων εισεπηδησαν εις τον οχλον κραζοντες
14:15	και λεγοντες ανδρες τι ταυτα ποιειτε και ημεις ομοιοπαθεις εσμεν υμιν ανθρωποι ευαγγελιζομενοι υμας απο τουτων των ματαιων επιστρεφειν επι τον θεον τον ζωντα ος εποιησεν τον ουρανον και την γην και την θαλασσαν και παντα τα εν αυτοις
14:16	ος εν ταις παρωχημεναις γενεαις ειασεν παντα τα εθνη πορευεσθαι ταις οδοις αυτων
14:17	και τοι γε ουκ αμαρτυρον εαυτον αφηκεν αγαθοποιων ουρανοθεν ημιν υετους διδους και καιρους καρποφορους εμπιπλων τροφης και ευφροσυνης τας καρδιας ημων
14:18	και ταυτα λεγοντες μολις κατεπαυσαν τους οχλους του μη θυειν αυτοις
14:19	επηλθον δε απο αντιοχειας και ικονιου ιουδαιοι και πεισαντες τους οχλους και λιθασαντες τον παυλον εσυρον εξω της πολεως νομισαντες αυτον τεθναναι
14:20	κυκλωσαντων δε αυτον των μαθητων αναστας εισηλθεν εις την πολιν και τη επαυριον εξηλθεν συν τω βαρναβα εις δερβην
14:21	ευαγγελισαμενοι τε την πολιν εκεινην και μαθητευσαντες ικανους υπεστρεψαν εις την λυστραν και ικονιον και αντιοχειαν
14:22	επιστηριζοντες τας ψυχας των μαθητων παρακαλουντες εμμενειν τη πιστει και οτι δια πολλων θλιψεων δει ημας εισελθειν εις την βασιλειαν του θεου
14:23	χειροτονησαντες δε αυτοις πρεσβυτερους κατ εκκλησιαν προσευξαμενοι μετα νηστειων παρεθεντο αυτους τω κυριω εις ον πεπιστευκεισαν
14:24	και διελθοντες την πισιδιαν ηλθον εις παμφυλιαν
14:25	και λαλησαντες εν περγη τον λογον κατεβησαν εις ατταλειαν
14:26	κακειθεν απεπλευσαν εις αντιοχειαν οθεν ησαν παραδεδομενοι τη χαριτι του θεου εις το εργον ο επληρωσαν
14:27	παραγενομενοι δε και συναγαγοντες την εκκλησιαν ανηγγειλαν οσα εποιησεν ο θεος μετ αυτων και οτι ηνοιξεν τοις εθνεσιν θυραν πιστεως
14:28	διετριβον δε εκει χρονον ουκ ολιγον συν τοις μαθηταις


14:1	And it fortuned in Iconium that they went both to gether into the synagoge of ye Iewes and so spake that a gret multitude both of ye Iewes and also of the Grekes beleved.
14:2	But the unbelevinge Iewes steryd vp and vnquyeted the myndes of the Gentyls agaynste the brethre.
14:3	Longe tyme a bode they there and quyt them selves boldly with the helpe of the Lorde the which gave testimony vnto ye worde of his grace and caused signes and wondres to be done by their hondes.
14:4	The people of the cyte were devided: and parte helde with the Iewes and parte with the Apostles.
14:5	When ther was a saute made both of the gentyls and also of the Iewes with their rulers to put them to shame and to stone
14:6	the they were ware of it and fled vnto Listra and Derba cities of Licaonia and vnto the region that lyeth round aboute
14:7	and there preached the gospell.
14:8	And ther sate a certayne man at Listra weake in his fete beinge creple from his mothers wombe and never walkyd.
14:9	The same hearde Paul preache. Which behelde him and perceaved that he had fayth to be whole
14:10	and sayd with a loude voyce: stond vp right on thy fete. And he stert vp and walked.
14:11	And when the people sawe what Paul had done they lifte vp their voyces sayinge in the speache of Lycaonia: Goddes are come doune to vs in the lyknes of men.
14:12	And they called Barnabas Iupiter and Paul Mercurius because he was the preacher.
14:13	Then Iupiters Preste which dwelt before their cite brought oxe and garlondes vnto the churche porche and wolde have done sacrifise with the people.
14:14	But when the Apostles Barnabas and Paul herde that they rent their clothes and ran in amonge the people cryinge
14:15	and sayinge: syrs why do ye this? We are mortall men lyke vnto you and preache vnto you that ye shuld turne from these vanyties vnto ye lyvinge God which made heaven and erth and the see and all that in them is:
14:16	the which in tymes past suffred all nacions to walke in their awne wayes.
14:17	Neverthelesse he lefte not him selfe with outen witnes in that he shewed his benefites in gevinge vs rayne from heaven and frutefull ceasons fyllinge oure hertes with fode and gladnes.
14:18	And with these sayinges scase refrayned they the people that they had not done sacrifice vnto them.
14:19	Thither came certayne Iewes fro Antioche and Iconium and optayned the peoples consent and stoned Paul and drewe him oute of the cyte supposynge he had bene deed.
14:20	How be it as the disciples stode rounde about him he arose vp and cam into the cyte. And the nexte daye he departed with Barnabas to Derba.
14:21	After they had preached to that cite and had taught many they returned agayne to Lisira and to Iconium and Antioche
14:22	and strengthed the disciples soules exhortinge them to continue in the faith affyrminge yt we must thorowe moche tribulacion entre into the kyngdome of God.
14:23	And when they had ordened them elders by eleccion in every congregacio after they had yrayde and fasted they comended them to God on whom they beleved.
14:24	And they went thorow out Pisidia and came into Paphilia
14:25	and when they had preached the worde of God in Perga they descended in to Attalia
14:26	and thence departed by shippe to Antioche fro whence they were delivered vnto the grace of God to the worke which they had fulfilled.
14:27	When they were come and had gaddered the congregacion to gedder they rehersed all that God had done by them and how he had opened the dore of faith vnto the getyls.
14:28	And ther they abode longe tyme with the disciples.
