>
15:1And summe camen doun fro Judee, and tauyten britheren, That but ye ben circumcidid after the lawe of Moises, ye moun not be maad saaf.
15:2Therfor whanne ther was maad not a litil discencioun to Poul and Barnabas ayens hem, thei ordeyneden, that Poul and Barnabas, and summe othere of hem, schulden go vp to the apostlis and preestis in Jerusalem, on this questioun.
15:3And so thei weren led forth of the chirche, and passiden bi Fenyce and Samarie; and thei telden the conuersacioun of hethene men, and thei maden greet ioie to alle the britheren.
15:4And whanne thei camen to Jerusalem, thei weren resseyued of the chirche and of the apostlis, and of the eldre men, and telden, hou greet thingis God dide with hem.
15:5But summe of the erise of Fariseis, that bileueden, risen vp, and seiden, That it bihoueth hem to be circumsidid, and to comaunde to kepe also the lawe of Moises.
15:6And the apostlis and eldre men camen togidre, to se of `this word.
15:7And whanne there was maad a greet sekyng herof, Petre roos, and seide to hem, Britheren, ye witen, that of elde daies in you God chees bi my mouth hethene, to here the word of the gospel, and to bileue;
15:8and God, that knewe hertis, bar witnessing, and yaf to hem the Hooli Goost, as also to vs;
15:9and no thing diuerside bitwixe vs and hem, `and clenside the hertis of hem bi feith.
15:10Now thanne what tempten ye God, to putte a yok on the necke of the disciplis, which nether we, nether oure fadris miyten bere?
15:11But bi the grace of oure Lord Jhesu Crist we bileuen to be saued, as also thei.
15:12And al the multitude helde pees, and herden Barnaban and Poul, tellinge hou grete signes and wondris God dide bi hem in hethene men.
15:13And aftir that thei helden pees, James answeride, and seide, Britheren, here ye me.
15:14Symount telde, hou God visitide, first to take of hethene men a puple to his name.
15:15And the wordis of prophetis acorden to him,
15:16as it is writun, Aftir this Y schal turne ayen, and bilde the tabernacle of Dauid, that felle doun; and Y schal bilde ayen the cast doun thingis of it, and Y schal reise it;
15:17that other men seke the Lord, and alle folkis on which my name is clepid to helpe; the Lord doynge this thing, seith.
15:18Fro the world, the werk of the Lord is knowun to the Lord.
15:19For which thing Y deme hem that of hethene men ben conuertid to God,
15:20to be not disesid, but to write to hem, that thei absteyne hem fro defoulingis of maumetis, and fro fornicacioun, and stranglid thingis, and blood.
15:21For Moyses of elde tymes hath in alle citees hem that prechen him in synagogis, where bi ech sabat he is red.
15:22Thanne it pleside to the apostlis, and to the eldre men, with al the chirche, to chees men of hem, and sende to Antioche, with Poul and Barnabas, Judas, that was named Barsabas, and Silas, the firste men among britheren;
15:23and wroten bi the hondis of hem, Apostlis and eldre britheren to hem that ben at Antioche, and Sirie, and Silice, britheren of hethen men, greting.
15:24For we herden that summe wenten out fro vs, and trobliden you with wordis, and turneden vpsodoun youre soulis, to whiche men we comaundiden not,
15:25it pleside to vs gaderid in to oon, to chese men, and sende to you, with oure most dereworthe Barnabas and Poul,
15:26men that yauen her lyues for the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.
15:27Therfor we senten Judas and Silas, and thei schulen telle the same thingis to you bi wordis.
15:28For it is seyn to the Hooly Goost and to vs, to putte to you no thing more of charge, than these nedeful thingis,
15:29that ye absteyne you fro the offrid thingis of maumetis, and blood stranglid, and fornicacioun. Fro whiche ye kepinge you, schulen do wel. Fare ye wel.
15:30Therfor thei weren let go, and camen doun to Antioche; and whanne the multitude was gaderid, thei token the epistle;
15:31which whanne thei hadden red, thei ioyden on the coumfort.
15:32And Judas and Silas and thei, for thei weren prophetis, coumfortiden britheren, and confermyden with ful many wordis.
15:33But aftir that thei hadden be there a lytil while, thei weren let go of britheren with pees, to hem that hadden sent hem.
15:34But it was seyn to Silas, to dwelle there; and Judas wente aloone to Jerusalem.
15:35And Poul and Barnabas dwelten at Antioche, techinge and prechinge the word of the Lord, with othere manye.
15:36But after summe daies, Poul seide to Barnabas, Turne we ayen, and visite britheren bi alle citees, in whiche we han prechid the word of the Lord, hou thei han hem.
15:37And Barnabas wolde take with hym Joon, that was named Marcus.
15:38But Poul preiede him, that he that departide fro hem fro Pamfilie, and wente not with hem in to the werk, schulde not be resseyued.
15:39And dissencioun was maad, so that thei departiden a twynny. And Barnabas took Mark, and cam bi boot to Cipre.
15:40And Poul chees Silas, and wente forth fro the britheren, and was bitakun to the grace of God.
15:41And he wente bi Sirie and Silice, and confermyde the chirche, comaundinge to kepe the heestis of apostlis and eldre men.

15:1Then came downe certaine from Iudea, and taught the brethren, saying, Except ye be circumcised after the maner of Moses, ye cannot be saued.
15:2And when there was great dissension, and disputation by Paul and Barnabas against them, they ordeyned that Paul and Barnabas, and certaine other of them, should goe vp to Hierusalem vnto the Apostles and Elders about this question.
15:3Thus being brought forth by ye Church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conuersion of the Gentiles, and they brought great ioy vnto all the brethren.
15:4And when they were come to Hierusalem, they were receiued of the Church, and of the Apostles and Elders, and they declared what things God had done by them.
15:5But said they, certaine of the sect of the Pharises, which did beleeue, rose vp, saying, that it was needefull to circumcise them, and to commaund them to keepe the lawe of Moses.
15:6Then the Apostles and Elders came together to looke to this matter.
15:7And when there had bene great disputation, Peter rose vp, and said vnto them, Ye men and brethren, ye know that a good while ago, among vs God chose out me, that the Gentiles by my mouth should heare the worde of the Gospel, and beleeue.
15:8And God which knoweth the heartes, bare them witnesse, in giuing vnto them ye holy Ghost euen as he did vnto vs.
15:9And he put no difference betweene vs and them, after that by faith he had purified their heartes.
15:10Nowe therefore, why tempt ye God, to lay a yoke on the disciples neckes, which neither our fathers, nor we were able to beare?
15:11But we beleeue, through the grace of the Lord Iesus Christ to be saued, euen as they doe.
15:12Then all the multitude kept silence, and heard Barnabas and Paul, which told what signes and wonders God had done among the Gentiles by them.
15:13And when they helde their peace, Iames answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken vnto me.
15:14Simeon hath declared, howe God first did visite the Gentiles, to take of them a people vnto his Name.
15:15And to this agree the woordes of the Prophets, as it is written,
15:16After this I will returne, and will builde againe the tabernacle of Dauid, which is fallen downe, and the ruines thereof will I build againe, and I will set it vp,
15:17That the residue of men might seeke after the Lord, and all the Gentiles vpon whom my Name is called, saith the Lord which doeth all these things.
15:18From the beginning of the worlde, God knoweth all his workes.
15:19Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them of the Gentiles that are turned to God,
15:20But that we send vnto them, that they abstaine themselues from filthinesse of idoles, and fornication, and that that is strangled, and from blood.
15:21For Moses of olde time hath in euery citie them that preache him, seeing he is read in the Synagogues euery Sabbath day.
15:22Then it seemed good to the Apostles and Elders with the whole Church, to sende chosen men of their owne companie to Antiochia with Paul and Barnabas: to wit, Iudas whose surname was Barsabas and Silas, which were chiefe men among the brethren,
15:23And wrote letters by them after this maner, THE APOSTLES, and the Elders, and the brethren, vnto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antiochia, and in Syria, and in Cilicia, send greeting.
15:24Forasmuch as we haue heard, that certaine which went out from vs, haue troubled you with wordes, and cumbred your mindes, saying, Ye must be circumcised and keepe the Lawe: to whom we gaue no such commandement,
15:25It seemed therefore good to vs, when we were come together with one accord, to send chosen men vnto you, with our beloued Barnabas and Paul,
15:26Men that haue giuen vp their liues for the Name of our Lord Iesus Christ.
15:27We haue therefore sent Iudas and Silas, which shall also tell you ye same things by mouth.
15:28For it seemed good to the holy Ghost, and to vs, to lay no more burden vpon you, then these necessary things,
15:29That is, that ye abstaine from things offered to idoles, and blood, and that that is strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keepe your selues, ye shall doe well. Fare ye well.
15:30Nowe when they were departed, they came to Antiochia, and after that they had assembled the multitude, they deliuered the Epistle.
15:31And when they had read it, they reioyced for the consolation.
15:32And Iudas and Silas being Prophets, exhorted the brethren with many wordes, and strengthened them.
15:33And after they had taried there a space, they were let goe in peace of the brethren vnto the Apostles.
15:34Notwithstanding Silas thought good to abide there still.
15:35Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antiochia, teaching and preaching with many other, the worde of the Lord.
15:36But after certaine dayes, Paul said vnto Barnabas, Let vs returne, and visite our brethren in euery citie, where we haue preached the worde of the Lord, and see how they doe.
15:37And Barnabas counselled to take with them Iohn, called Marke.
15:38But Paul thought it not meete to take him vnto their companie, which departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the worke.
15:39Then were they so stirred, that they departed asunder one from the other, so that Barnabas tooke Marke, and sailed vnto Cyprus.
15:40And Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended of the brethren vnto the grace of God.
15:41And he went through Syria and Cilicia, stablishing the Churches.

15:1And certain men who came down from Judea taught the brethren, and said "Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved."
15:2Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and dispute with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them should go up to Jerusalem, to the apostles and elders, about this question.
15:3So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren.
15:4And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church and by the apostles and the elders; and they declared everything that God had done with them.
15:5But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, "It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses."
15:6Now the apostles and elders came together to consider this matter.
15:7And when there had been a great disputation, Peter rose up and said to them: "Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe.
15:8So God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us,
15:9and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
15:10Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
15:11But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we will be saved in the same manner as they."
15:12Then all the multitude kept silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul declaring what miracles and wonders God had worked through them among the Gentiles.
15:13And after they had become silent, James replied, saying, "Men and brethren, listen to me:
15:14Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name.
15:15And with this the words of the prophets agree, as it is written:
15:16'After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up;
15:17So that the remainder of the people may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by My name, says the Lord who does all these things.'
15:18"Known to God are all His works from the beginning of the world.
15:19Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who have turned to God,
15:20but that we write to them that they abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood.
15:21Because, Moses has those who preach him in every city from old times, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath day."
15:22Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the entire church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren.
15:23They wrote letters by them according to this manner: The apostles, the elders, and the brethren, send greetings to the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia.
15:24Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, "You must be circumcised and keep the law," to whom we gave no such commandment ,
15:25it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
15:26men who have endangered their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15:27We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also tell you the same things by mouth.
15:28Because, it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things:
15:29that you abstain from food offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.
15:30So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch; and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the letter.
15:31Which when they had read, they rejoiced over its encouragement.
15:32Now Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets also, exhorted the brethren with many words and confirmed them.
15:33And after they had stayed there for a time, they were let go in peace from the brethren to the apostles.
15:34However, it seemed good to Silas to remain there.
15:35Paul and Barnabas also remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
15:36Then after some days Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us now go back and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing."
15:37Now Barnabas was determined to take with them John whose surname was Mark.
15:38But Paul did not think it good to take him with them, who had departed from them in Pamphylia, and had not gone with them to the work.
15:39Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another. And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus;
15:40but Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God.
15:41And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.
