| 1:1 | Paul a seruant of Iesus Christ, called to bee an Apostle, separated vnto the Gospel of God, |
| 1:2 | (Which he had promised afore by his Prophets in the holy Scriptures,) |
| 1:3 | Concerning his Sonne Iesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of Dauid according to the flesh, |
| 1:4 | And declared to be the Sonne of God, with power, according to the Spirit of holinesse, by the resurrection from the dead. |
| 1:5 | By whom we haue receiued grace and Apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for his Name, |
| 1:6 | Among whom are ye also the called of Iesus Christ. |
| 1:7 | To all that be in Rome, beloued of God, called to be Saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Iesus Christ. |
| 1:8 | First I thanke my God through Iesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. |
| 1:9 | For God is my witnesse, whom I serue with my spirit in the Gospel of his Sonne, that without ceasing I make mention of you, alwayes in my prayers, |
| 1:10 | Making request, (if by any meanes now at length I might haue a prosperous iourney by the will of God) to come vnto you. |
| 1:11 | For I long to see you, that I may impart vnto you some spirituall gift, to the end you may be established, |
| 1:12 | That is, that I may be comforted together with you, by the mutual faith both of you and me. |
| 1:13 | Now I would not haue you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come vnto you, (but was let hitherto) that I might haue some fruit among you also, euen as among other Gentiles. |
| 1:14 | I am debter both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians, both to the wise, and to the vnwise. |
| 1:15 | So, as much as in mee is, I am ready to preach the Gospel to you that are at Rome also. |
| 1:16 | For I am not ashamed of the Gopel of Christ: for it is the power of God vnto saluation, to euery one that beleeueth, to the Iew first, and also to the Greeke. |
| 1:17 | For therein is the righteousnesse of God reueiled from faith to faith: as it is written, The iust shall liue by faith. |
| 1:18 | For the wrath of God is reueiled from heauen against all vngodlinesse, and vnrighteousnesse of men, who hold the trueth in vnrighteousnesse. |
| 1:19 | Because that which may bee knowen of God, is manifest in them, for God hath shewed it vnto them. |
| 1:20 | For the inuisible things of him from the Creation of the world, are clearely seene, being vnderstood by the things that are made, euen his eternall Power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse: |
| 1:21 | Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankefull, but became vaine in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened: |
| 1:22 | Professing themselues to be wise, they became fooles: |
| 1:23 | And changed the glory of the vncorruptible God, into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birdes, and foure footed beasts, and creeping things: |
| 1:24 | Wherefore God also gaue them vp to vncleannesse, through the lusts of their owne hearts, to dishonour their owne bodies betweene themselues: |
| 1:25 | Who changed the trueth of God into a lye, and worshipped and serued the creature more then the Creatour, who is blessed for euer. Amen. |
| 1:26 | For this cause God gaue them vp vnto vile affections: for euen their women did change the naturall vse into that which is against nature: |
| 1:27 | And likewise also the men, leauing the naturall vse of the woman, burned in their lust one towards another, men with men working that which is vnseemely, and receiuing in themselues that recompense of their errour which was meet. |
| 1:28 | And euen as they did not like to retaine God in their knowledge, God gaue them ouer to a reprobate minde, to doe those things which are not conuenient: |
| 1:29 | Being filled with all vnrighteousnes, fornication, wickednesse, couetousnes, maliciousnes, full of enuie, murther, debate, deceit, malignitie, whisperers, |
| 1:30 | Backbiters, haters of God, despitefull, proude, boasters, inuenters of euill things, disobedient to parents; |
| 1:31 | Without vnderstanding, couenant breakers, without naturall affection, implacable, vnmercifull; |
| 1:32 | Who knowing the iudgement of God, (that they which commit such things, are worthy of death) not onely do the same, but haue pleasure in them that doe them. |
| 1:1 | Pavl the seruaunte of Iesus Christ, called to be an Apostle, put aparte to preach the Gospell of God |
| 1:2 | (which he promysed a fore by his prophetes in ye holy scriptures) |
| 1:3 | off his sonne, which was begotte of ye sede of Dauid after the flesh: |
| 1:4 | and mightely declared to be the sonne of God after the sprete which sanctifieth, sence the tyme that he rose agayne from the deed, namely, Iesus Christ oure LORDE, |
| 1:5 | by whom we haue receaued grace and Apostelshippe amonge all Heythen, to set vp the obedience of faith vnder his name, |
| 1:6 | of whom ye are a parte also, which are called of Iesus Christ. |
| 1:7 | To all you that be at Rome, beloued of God, and sayntes by callynge Grace be wt you and peace fro God oure father, and the LORDE Iesus Christ. |
| 1:8 | First, I thanke my God thorow Iesus Christ for you all, that youre faith is spoken of thorow out all the worlde. |
| 1:9 | For God is my witnesse ( whom I serue in my sprete in the Gospell of his sonne) that without ceassynge I make mencion of you besekinge allwayes in my prayers, |
| 1:10 | that I mighte once haue a prosperous iourney ( by the will off God) to come vnto you. |
| 1:11 | For I longe to se you, that I mighte bestowe vpon you some spirituall gifte to stregth you |
| 1:12 | (that is)that I mighte be conforted with you, thorow yor faith & myne, which we haue together. |
| 1:13 | But I wolde ye shulde knowe (brethren) how that I haue often tymes purposed to come vnto you (but haue bene let hither to) that I mighte do some good amonge you, like as amonge other Gentyles. |
| 1:14 | I am detter both to the Grekes, and to the vngrekes, to the wyse and to the vnwyse. |
| 1:15 | Wherfore (as moch as i me is) I am ready to preach the Gospell vnto you at Rome also. |
| 1:16 | For I am not ashamed of the Gospell of Christ: for it is the power of God, which saueth all that beleue theron, the Iewe first & also the Greke: |
| 1:17 | for in it ye righteousnes that is of value before God, is opened, which cometh out of faith i to faith. |
| 1:18 | As it is wrytte: The iust shal lyue by his faith. For ye wrath of God is declared from heauen vpon all vngodlynes and vnrighteousnes of me,which witholde the trueth of God in vnrighteousnes: |
| 1:19 | because that it, which maye be knowne of God, is manifest with the. For God hath shewed it vnto the, |
| 1:20 | that the inuisible thinges of God (that is, his euerlastinge power and Godheade) mighte be sene whyle they are considered by the workes from the creacion of the worlde: so that they are without excuse, |
| 1:21 | in as moch as they knewe, that there is a God, and haue not praysed him as God ner thanked him, but became vayne in their ymaginacions, and their foolish hert was blynded. |
| 1:22 | Whan they counted them selues wyse, they became fooles: |
| 1:23 | and turned ye glory of the incorruptible God in to ye symilitude of ye ymage of a corruptible ma, & of byrdes, & of foure foted, & of crepinge beestes |
| 1:24 | Wherfore God likewyse gaue them vp vnto their hertes lustes in to vnclennes, to defyle their awne bodies in them selues, |
| 1:25 | which turned the trueth of God vnto a lye, & worshipped and serued the creature more then the maker, which is blessed for euer. Amen. |
| 1:26 | Therfore God gaue the vp vnto shamefull lustes. For their wemen chaunged the naturall vse in to the vnnaturall: |
| 1:27 | likewyse ye me also lefte the naturall vse of the woman, and brent in their lustes one on another, and man with man wrought fylthines, and receaued in them selues the rewarde of their erroure, as it was acordinge. |
| 1:28 | And as they regarded not to knowe God, euen so God gaue the vp in to a lewde mynde, to do those thinges which were not comly, |
| 1:29 | beynge full of all vnrighteousnes, whordome, wickednes, couetousnes, maliciousnes, full of enuye, murthur, strife, disceate, euell codicioned whisperers, |
| 1:30 | backbyters, despysers of God, doers of wronge, proude, boosters, bryngers vp of euell thinges, disobedient to their Elders, |
| 1:31 | without vnderstondinge, couenaunt breakers, vnlouynge, stubborne, vnmercifull: |
| 1:32 | which men, though they knowe the righteousnes of God (that they which do soch, are worthy of death) yet not onely do the same, but also haue pleasure in those that do the. |
| 1:1 | Poul, the seruaunt of Jhesu Crist, clepid an apostle, departid in to the gospel of God; |
| 1:2 | which he hadde bihote tofore bi his profetis in holi scripturis of his sone, |
| 1:3 | which is maad to hym of the seed of Dauid bi the flesch, |
| 1:4 | and he was bifor ordeyned the sone of God in vertu, bi the spirit of halewyng of the ayenrisyng of deed men, of Jhesu Crist oure Lord, |
| 1:5 | bi whom we han resseyued grace and the office of apostle, to obeie to the feith in alle folkis for his name, |
| 1:6 | among whiche ye ben also clepid of Jhesu Crist, |
| 1:7 | to alle that ben at Rome, derlyngis of God, and clepid hooli, grace to you, and pees of God oure fadir, and of the Lord Jhesu Crist. |
| 1:8 | First Y do thankyngis to my God, bi Jhesu Crist, for alle you, for youre feith is schewid in al the world. |
| 1:9 | For God is a witnesse to me, to whom Y serue in my spirit, in the gospel of his sone, |
| 1:10 | that with outen ceessyng Y make mynde of you euere in my preieris, and biseche, if in ony maner sum tyme Y haue a spedi weie in the wille of God to come to you. |
| 1:11 | For Y desire to se you, to parten sumwhat of spiritual grace, |
| 1:12 | that ye be confermyd, that is, to be coumfortid togidere in you, bi feith that is bothe youre and myn togidere. |
| 1:13 | And, britheren, Y nyle, that ye vnknowun, that ofte Y purposide to come to you, and Y am lett to this tyme, that Y haue sum fruyt in you, as in othere folkis. |
| 1:14 | To Grekis and to barberyns, to wise men and to vnwise men, |
| 1:15 | Y am dettour, so that that is in me is redi to preche the gospel also to you that ben at Rome. |
| 1:16 | For Y schame not the gospel, for it is the vertu of God in to heelthe to ech man that bileueth, to the Jew first, and to the Greke. |
| 1:17 | For the riytwisnesse of God is schewid in it, of feith in to feith, |
| 1:18 | as it is writun, For a iust man lyueth of feith. For the wraththe of God is schewid fro heuene on al vnpite and wickidnesse of tho men, that withholden the treuthe of God in vnriytwisnes. |
| 1:19 | For that thing of God that is knowun, is schewid to hem, for God hath schewid to hem. |
| 1:20 | For the vnuysible thingis of hym, that ben vndurstondun, ben biholdun of the creature of the world, bi tho thingis that ben maad, yhe, and the euerlastynge vertu of hym and the godhed, so that thei mowe not be excusid. |
| 1:21 | For whanne thei hadden knowe God, thei glorifieden hym not as God, nether diden thankyngis; but thei vanyschiden in her thouyts, and the vnwise herte of hem was derkid. |
| 1:22 | For thei `seiynge that hem silf weren wise, thei weren maad foolis. |
| 1:23 | And thei chaungiden the glorie of `God vncorruptible in to the licnesse of an ymage of a deedli man, and of briddis, and of foure footid beestis, and of serpentis. |
| 1:24 | For which thing God bitook hem in to the desiris of her herte, in to vnclennesse, that thei punysche with wrongis her bodies in hem silf. |
| 1:25 | The whiche chaungiden the treuthe of God in to leesyng, and herieden and serueden a creature rathere than to the creatoure, that is blessid in to worldis of worldis. |
| 1:26 | Amen. Therfor God bitook hem in to passiouns of schenschipe. For the wymmen of hem chaungiden the kyndli vss in to that vss that is ayens kynde. |
| 1:27 | Also the men forsoken the kyndli vss of womman, and brenneden in her desiris togidere, and men in to men wrouyten filthehed, and resseyueden in to hem silf the meede that bihofte of her errour. |
| 1:28 | And as thei preueden that thei hadden not God in knowyng, God bitook hem in to a repreuable wit, that thei do tho thingis that ben not couenable; that thei ben fulfillid with al wickidnesse, |
| 1:29 | malice, fornycacioun, coueitise, weiwardnesse, ful of enuye, mansleyngis, strijf, gile, yuel wille, preuy bacbiteris, detractouris, |
| 1:30 | hateful to God, debateris, proude, and hiy ouer mesure, fynderis of yuele thingis, not obeschynge to fadir and modir, |
| 1:31 | vnwise, vnmanerli, withouten loue, withouten boond of pees, with outen merci. |
| 1:32 | The whiche whanne thei hadden knowe the riytwisnesse of God, vndirstoden not, that thei that don siche thingis ben worthi the deth, not oneli thei that don tho thingis, but also thei that consenten to the doeris. |
