1 Corinthians - Chapter: 1

>
1:1Paul called to be an Apostle of Iesus Christ, through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
1:2Unto the Church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Iesus, called to be Saints, with all that in euery place call vpon the Name of Iesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours.
1:3Grace be vnto you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Iesus Christ.
1:4I thanke my God alwayes on your behalfe, for the grace of God which is giuen you by Iesus Christ,
1:5That in euery thing yee are enriched by him, in all vtterance, and in all knowledge:
1:6Euen as the Testimony of Christ was confirmed in you.
1:7So that yee come behinde in no gift; wayting for the comming of our Lord Iesus Christ,
1:8Who shall also confirme you vnto the end, that yee may be blamelesse in the day of our Lord Iesus Christ.
1:9God is faithful by whom ye were called vnto the felowship of his Sonne Iesus Christ our Lord.
1:10Now I beseech you brethren by the Name of our Lord Iesus Christ, that yee all speake the same thing, and that there be no diuisions among you: but that ye be perfectly ioyned together in the same minde, and in the same iudgement.
1:11For it hath bene declared vnto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Cloe, that there are contentions among you.
1:12Now this I say, that euery one of you saith, I am of Paul, and I of Apollo, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.
1:13Is Christ diuided? was Paul crucified for you? or were yee baptized in the name of Paul?
1:14I thanke God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius:
1:15Lest any should say, that I had baptized in mine owne name.
1:16And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
1:17For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Gospel: not with wisedome of words, lest the Crosse of Christ should be made of none effect.
1:18For the preaching of the Crosse is to them that perish, foolishnesse: but vnto vs which are saued, it is the power of God.
1:19For it is written, I will destroy the wisedome of the wise, and wil bring to nothing the vnderstanding of the prudent.
1:20Where is the wise? where is the Scribe? where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisedome of this world?
1:21For after that, in the wisedom of God, the world by wisedome knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishnesse of preaching, to saue them that beleeue.
1:22For the Iewes require a signe, and the Greekes seeke after wisedome.
1:23But wee preach Christ crucified, vnto the Iewes a stumbling block, and vnto the Greekes, foolishnesse:
1:24But vnto them which are called, both Iewes and Greekes, Christ, the power of God, & the wisedome of God.
1:25Because the foolishnesse of God is wiser then men: and the weakenesse of God is stronger then men.
1:26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called.
1:27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world, to confound the wise: and God hath chosen the weake things of the world, to confound the things which are mighty:
1:28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are,
1:29That no flesh should glory in his presence.
1:30But of him are ye in Christ Iesus, who of God is made vnto vs wisedome, and righteousnesse, and sanctification, and redemption:
1:31That according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

1:1Paul, called to be an Apostle of Iesus Christ thorow ye will of God, and brother Sosthenes,
1:2vnto the congregacion off God which is at Corinthum, to them that are sanctified in Christ Iesus, sayntes by callinge, with all them that call vpon the name of oure LORDE Iesus Christ, in euery place both off theirs and oures.
1:3Grace be with you and peace from God oure father, and from the LORDE Iesus Christ.
1:4I thake my God allwayes on youre behalfe, for the fauoure of God which is geue you in Iesus Christ,
1:5that in all poyntes ye are made ryche by him, in euery worde, and in all maner of knowlege
1:6(eue as ye preachinge of Christ is confirmed in you)
1:7so that ye wante nothinge in eny gifte, and wayte but for the appearinge of oure LORDE Iesus Christ:
1:8which shal strength you also vnto ye ende, that ye maye be blamelesse in the daye of oure LORDE Iesus Christ.
1:9For God is faithfull, by who ye are called vnto the fellishippe of his sonne Iesus Christ oure LORDE.
1:10But I beseke you brethre thorow the name of oure LORDE Iesus Christ, that ye all speake one thinge, and let there be no discension amonge you, but that ye be perfecte in one meanynge.
1:11For it is shewed me (my brethren) of you, by them which are of ye housholde of Cloes, that there is stryfe amonge you. I speake of that,
1:12which euery one of you sayeth: I holde of Paul. Another, I holde of Apollo. The thirde, I holde of Cephas. The fourth, I holde off Christ.
1:13Is Christ then deuyded in partes? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptysed in ye name of Paul?
1:14I thanke God that I haue baptised none of you, but Crispus and Gaius:
1:15lest eny shulde saye, yt I in myne awne name had baptised.
1:16I baptysed also ye housholde of Stephana. Farthermore knowe I not, whether I baptysed eny other.
1:17For Christ sent me not to baptyse, but to preach the Gospell, not with wyssdome of wordes, lest ye crosse of Christ shulde haue bene made of none effecte.
1:18For the worde of ye crosse is foolishnesse to the that perishe but vnto vs which are saued, it is the power of God.
1:19For it is wrytte: I wyl destroye the wyssdome of the wyse, & wil cast away the vnderstondinge of ye prudet.
1:20Where are the wyse? Where are ye scrybes? where are ye disputers of this worlde?
1:21Hath not God made the wyssdome of this worlde foolishnesse? For in so moch as the worlde by the wyssdome therof knewe not God in his wyssdome, it pleased God thorow foolish preachinge to saue them yt beleue.
1:22For the Iewes requyre tokens, and the Grekes axe after wyssdome.
1:23But we preach Christ the crucified: to the Iewes an occasion off fallinge, and vnto the Grekes foolishnes.
1:24But vnto them that are called (both Iewes and Grekes) we preach Christ the power of God and the wyssdome off God.
1:25For the foolishnes of God is wyser then men: and the weaknes of God is stroger the men.
1:26Brethren loke on youre callinge, how that not many wyseme after the flesh, not many mightie, not many of hye degre are called:
1:27but that foolish is before the worlde, hath God chosen, that he mighte cofounde the wyse: And that weake is before ye worlde, hath God chosen, yt he mighte confounde the mightye.
1:28And the vyle and despysed before the worlde hath God chosen, yee and that which is nothinge, that he mighte destroye that which is oughte,
1:29that no flesh shulde reioyse in his presence.
1:30Of the same are ye also in Christ Iesu, which of God is made vnto vs wyssdome and righteousnes, and sanctifienge and redepcion,
1:31that, acordinge as it is wrytten: He that reioyseth, shulde reioyse in the LORDE.

1:1Poul, clepid apostle of Jhesu Crist, bi the wille of God, and Sostenes, brothir, to the chirche of God that is at Corynthe,
1:2to hem that ben halewid in Crist Jhesu, and clepid seyntis, with alle that inwardli clepen the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, in ech place of hem and of oure,
1:3grace to you and pees of God, oure fadir, and of the Lord Jhesu Crist.
1:4Y do thankyngis to my God eueremore for you, in the grace of God that is youun to you in Crist Jhesu.
1:5For in alle thingis ye ben maad riche in hym, in ech word, and in ech kunnyng,
1:6as the witnessyng of Crist is confermyd in you;
1:7so that no thing faile to you in ony grace, that abiden the schewyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist;
1:8which also schal conferme you in to the ende with outen cryme, in the dai of the comyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.
1:9`A trewe God, bi whom ye ben clepid in to the felouschipe of his sone Jhesu Crist oure Lord.
1:10But, britheren, Y biseche you, bi the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, that ye alle seie the same thing, and that dissenciouns be not among you; but be ye perfit in the same wit, and in the same kunnyng.
1:11For, my britheren, it is teld to me of hem that ben at Cloes, that stryues ben among you.
1:12And Y seie that, that ech of you seith, For Y am of Poul, and Y am of Apollo, and Y am of Cefas, but Y am of Crist.
1:13Whether Crist is departid? whether Poul was crucified for you, ether ye ben baptisid in the name of Poul?
1:14Y do thankyngis to my God, that Y baptiside noon of you, but Crispus and Gayus;
1:15lest ony man seie, that ye ben baptisid in my name.
1:16And Y baptiside also the hous of Stephan, but Y woot not, that Y baptiside ony other.
1:17For Crist sente me not to baptise, but to preche the gospel; not in wisdom of word, that the cros of Crist be not voidid awei.
1:18For the word of the cros is foli to hem that perischen; but to hem that ben maad saaf, that is to seie, to vs, it is the vertu of God.
1:19For it is writun, Y schal distruye the wisdom of wise men, and Y schal reproue the prudence of prudent men.
1:20Where is the wise man? where is the wise lawiere? where is the purchasour of this world? Whether God hath not maad the wisdom of this world fonned?
1:21For the world in wisdom of God knewe not God bi wisdom, it pleside to God, bi foli of prechyng, `to maken hem saaf that bileueden.
1:22For Jewis seken signes, and Grekis seken wisdom;
1:23but we prechen Crist crucified, to Jewis sclaundre, and to hethene men foli;
1:24but to tho Jewis and Grekis that ben clepid, we prechen Crist the vertu of God and the wisdom of God.
1:25For that that is foli thing of God, is wiser than men; and that that is the feble thing of God, is strengere than men.
1:26But, britheren, se ye youre clepyng; for not many wise men aftir the fleisch, not many myyti, not many noble.
1:27But God chees tho thingis that ben fonned of the world, to confounde wise men;
1:28and God chees the feble thingis of the world, to confounde the stronge thingis; and God chees the vnnoble thingis `and dispisable thingis of the world, and tho thingis that ben not, to distruye tho thingis that ben;
1:29that ech man haue not glorie in his siyt.
1:30But of hym ye ben in Crist Jhesu, which is maad of God to vs wisdom, and riytwisnesse, and holynesse, and ayenbiyng; that,
1:31as it is wrytun, He that glorieth, haue glorie in the Lord.
