7:1 | As concerninge, wherof ye wrote vnto me, it is good for a man, not to touche a woman. |
7:2 | Neuerthelesse to avoide fornication, let euery man haue his wyfe: and let euerye woman haue her husbande. |
7:3 | Let the man geue vnto the wyfe due beneuolence. Lykewyse also the wyfe vnto the man. |
7:4 | The wyfe hath not power ouer her owne bodie, but the husbande. And lykewyse the man hath not power ouer his owne bodye, but the wyfe. |
7:5 | Withdrawe not your selues one from another, excepte it be wyth consente for a tyme, for to geue your selues to fastinge, and prayer. And afterward come agayne to the same thinge, leste Sathan tempte you for your incontinencye. |
7:6 | Thys I saye of fauoure, and not of commaundement. |
7:7 | For I woulde that all men were as I my selfe am: but euerie man hath hys proper gyfte of God, one after this maner, another after that. |
7:8 | I saye vnto the vnmaryed men and wyddowes: it is good for them, if they abyed euen as I do. |
7:9 | But and if they cannot abstayne, let them mary. For it is better to mary, then burne. |
7:10 | Vnto the maryed commaunded not I but the Lorde: that the wyfe separate not her selfe from the man. |
7:11 | Yf she separate her selfe, let her remayne vnmaryed, or be reconcilied to her husband againe. And let not the husband put away his wife from him. |
7:12 | To the remnaunte speake I and not the Lord. Yf anye brother haue a wyfe that beleued not, if she be contente to dwel with hym, let him not put her awaye. |
7:13 | And the woman, which hath to her husband an infidele, if he consente to dwell with her, let her not put him awaie. |
7:14 | For the vnbeleuinge husbande, is sainctified by the wyfe: and the vnbeleuinge wife, is sainctified by the husbande. Or els were youre chyldren vnclene: but nowe are they pure. |
7:15 | But and if the vnbeleuinge departe, let him departe. A brother or a syster is not in subieccion to suche. God hath called vs in peace. |
7:16 | For howe knowest thou O woman, whether thou shalt saue that man or no? Other howe knoweste thou O man, whether thou shalt saue that woman or no? |
7:17 | but euen as God hath distributed to euery man. As the Lorde hath called euery person so let him walke: and so ordeine I in all congregations. |
7:18 | If any man be called beynge circumcised, let him adde nothing thereto. If any be called vncircumcised: let him not be circumcised. |
7:19 | Circumcison is nothinge, vncircumcision is nothinge, but the kepinge of the commaundementes of God is altogether. |
7:20 | Let euery man abyde in the same state, wherin he is called. |
7:21 | Art thou called a seruauntes, care not for it. Neuertheles if thou maiest be fre, vse it rather. |
7:22 | For he that is called in the Lord beynge a seruaunte, is the Lordes freman. Lykewyse he that is called beynge fre, is Christes seruaunte. |
7:23 | Ye are dearlye bought, be not mennes seruauntes. |
7:24 | Brethren let euery man wherin he is called, therin abide with God. |
7:25 | As concerninge virgins, I haue no commaundemente of the Lorde: yet geue I counsel, as one that hath obteyned mercy of the Lord to be faithfull. |
7:26 | I suppose that it is good for the presente necessitie. For it is good for a man so to be. |
7:27 | Arte thou bounde vnto a wife? seke not to be loused. Arte thou loused from a wife? seke not a wife. |
7:28 | But and if thou take a wyfe, thou sinnest not. Lykewise if a virgine mary: she sinneth not. Neuerthelesse such shal haue trouble in theyr fleshe: but I fauoure you. |
7:29 | This saye I brethren the tyme is short. It remaineth that they which haue wiues, be as though they had none, |
7:30 | and they that wepe be as though they wept not, and they that reioyse be as though they reioysed not: & they that bye, be as though they possessed not: |
7:31 | and they that vse this worlde, be as though they vsed it not. For the fashion of this world goeth away. |
7:32 | I would haue you without care. The single man careth for the thinges of the Lorde howe he maye please the Lorde. |
7:33 | But he that hath maried, careth for the thinges of the worlde howe he may please his wyfe. |
7:34 | There is difference betwene a virgine and a wyfe. The single woman careth for the thinges of the Lorde, that she maye be pure both in bodye and also in spyryte. But she that is maried, careth for the thinges of the worlde, howe she maye please her husbande. |
7:35 | This speake I for youre profite, not to tangel you in a snare, but for that whiche is honeste and comely vnto you, and that ye maye quietly cleaue vnto the Lorde without separacion. |
7:36 | If anye man thinke that it is vncomelye for his virgine if we passe the tyme of mariage, and yf so nede require, let hym do what he listeth, he sinneth not: let them be coupled in mariage. |
7:37 | Neuerthelesse, he that purposeth surely in his herte, hauing none nede, but hath power ouer his owne wyll, and hath so decreed in his herte that he wyl kepe his virgin, doeth well. So then he that ioyneth his virgine in mariage doeth well. |
7:38 | But he that ioyneth not his virgine in mariage doeth better. |
7:39 | The wife is bounde to the lawe as longe as her husband liueth. If her husbande slepe, she is at libertye to mary with whome she wyll, onely in the Lorde. |
7:40 | But she is happyer if she so abyde, in my iudgemente. And I thinke verely that I haue the spirite of God. |

7:8 | I say therefore vnto them that be vnmaryed and wyddowes, it is good for them if they abyde euen as I. |
7:9 | But if they can not abstayne, let them marrie: For it is better to marrie then to burne. |
7:10 | Unto the maryed commaunde, not I, but the Lord, Let not the wyfe depart from the husbande: |
7:11 | But and if she depart, let her remayne vnmarried, or be reconciled vnto her husbande [againe:] And let not the husbande put away his wyfe. |
7:12 | But to the renmaunt speake I, not the Lorde: If any brother haue a wife that beleueth not, if she be content to dwell with him, let him not put her away. |
7:13 | And the woman which hath to her husbande an infidell, and he consent to dwel with her, let her not put him away. |
7:14 | For the vnbeleuing husbande is sanctified by the wyfe, and the vnbeleuyng wyfe is sanctified by the husbande: els were your children vncleane, but nowe are they holy. |
7:15 | But if the vnbeleuing depart, let hym depart: A brother or a sister is not in subiection in such thinges: But God hath called vs in peace. |
7:16 | For howe knowest thou O woman, whether thou shalt saue thy husbande? or how knowest thou O man, whether thou shalt saue thy wyfe? |
7:17 | But as God hath distributed to euery man, as the Lorde hath called euery one, so let hym walke, and so ordeyne I in all Churches. |
7:18 | Is any man called beyng circumcised? let him not adde vncircumcision: Is any called vncircumcised? let him not be circumcised. |
7:19 | Circumcision is nothing, and vncircumcision is nothing, but the keping of the commaundementes of God. |
7:20 | Let euery man abyde in the same calling, wherein he was called. |
7:21 | Art thou called a seruaunt? care not for it: Neuerthelesse, if thou mayest be free, vse it rather. |
7:22 | For he that is called in the Lord [being] a seruaunt, is the Lordes free man: Lykewyse also he that is called [beyng] free, is Christes seruaunt. |
7:23 | Ye are dearely bought, be not ye the seruauntes of men. |

7:35 | This speake I for your profite, not to tangle you in a snare: but that [ye may folowe] that which is honest and comely, and that ye may cleaue fast vnto the Lorde without separation. |
7:36 | But if any man thinke that it is vncomely for his virgin if she passe the time of mariage, and neede so require, let him do what he wyll, he sinneth not: let them be maryed. |
7:37 | Neuerthelesse, he that purposeth surely in his heart hauing no neede, but hath power ouer his owne wyll, and hath so decreed in his heart that he wyl kepe his virgin, doth well. |
7:38 | So then he that ioyneth his virgin in maryage, doth well: but he that ioyneth not [his virgin] in mariage, doth better. |
7:39 | The wyfe is bounde to the lawe as long as her husbande lyueth: but if her husband be dead, she is at libertie to marry with whom she wil, onely in the Lorde. |
7:40 | But she is happier if she so abide, after my iudgement: And I thinke veryly that I haue the spirite of God. |

7:10 | And to the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: |
7:11 | But if she shall depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. |
7:12 | But to the rest I speak, not the Lord, if any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she is pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. |
7:13 | And the woman who hath a husband that believeth not, and if he is pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. |
7:14 | For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. |
7:15 | But if the unbelieving departeth, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases; but God hath called us to peace. |
7:16 | For how knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? |
7:17 | But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so I ordain in all churches. |
7:18 | Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not become circumcised. |
7:19 | Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. |
7:20 | Let every man continue in the same calling in which he was called. |
7:21 | Art thou called being a servant? care not for it; but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. |
7:22 | For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's free-man: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. |
7:23 | Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. |
7:24 | Brethren, let every man in the state in which he is called, continue in it with God. |
7:25 | Now concerning virgins, I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment as one that hath obtained mercy from the Lord to be faithful. |
7:26 | I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be. |
7:27 | Art thou bound to a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. |
7:28 | But if thou marry, thou hast not sinned: and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless, such will have trouble in the flesh; but I spare you. |
7:29 | But this I say, brethren, The time is short. It remaineth, that both they that have wives, be as though they had none; |
7:30 | And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; |
7:31 | And they that use this world, as not abusing it. For the fashion of this world passeth away. |
7:32 | But I would have you without anxious care. He that is unmarried, is anxious for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: |
7:33 | But he that is married, is anxious for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. |
7:34 | There is a difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman is anxious for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy, both in body and in spirit: but she that is married, is anxious for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. |
7:35 | And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. |
7:36 | But if any man thinketh that he behaveth himself uncomely towards his virgin, if she hath passed the flower of her age, and need so requireth, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry. |
7:37 | Nevertheless, he that standeth steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well. |
7:38 | So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better. |
7:39 | The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband is dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. |
7:40 | But she is happier if she so remain, after my judgment; and I think also that I have the Spirit of God. |
