| 2:1 | But I determined this within myself, that I would not come again to you in sorrow. |
| 2:2 | Because, if I make you sorrowful, then who is he who makes me glad but the one who is made sorrowful by me? |
| 2:3 | And I wrote this very thing to you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from those of whom I ought to rejoice, having confidence in you all that my joy is the joy of you all. |
| 2:4 | Because, out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you, with many tears, not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have so abundantly for you. |
| 2:5 | But if anyone has caused grief, he has not grieved me, except partially; so that I may not be harsh to you all. |
| 2:6 | This punishment which was inflicted by many is sufficient for such a man, |
| 2:7 | so that, on the contrary, you ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with too much sorrow. |
| 2:8 | Therefore I urge you to reaffirm your love to him. |
| 2:9 | Because, this is why I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things. |
| 2:10 | To whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. Because, if I have forgiven anything, to whom I forgive it, I have forgiven it for your sakes in the person of Christ, |
| 2:11 | lest Satan should get a favorable position over us; because we are not ignorant of his devices. |
| 2:12 | Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord, |
| 2:13 | I had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I departed from there into Macedonia. |
| 2:14 | Now thanks be to God who always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the fragrance of His knowledge in every place through us. |
| 2:15 | Because, we are to God the sweet fragrance of Christ among those who are saved and among those who are perishing. |
| 2:16 | To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? |
| 2:17 | Because, we are not, like so many, who corrupt the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ. |
| 2:1 | Bvt I determined thus in my selfe, that I would not come againe to you in heauinesse. |
| 2:2 | For if I make you sorie, who is he then that shoulde make me glad, but ye same which is made sorie by me? |
| 2:3 | And I wrote this same thing vnto you, lest when I came, I should take heauines of them, of whom I ought to reioyce: this confidence haue I in you all, that my ioye is the ioye of you all. |
| 2:4 | For in great affliction, and anguish of heart I wrote vnto you with many teares: not that yee should be made sorie, but that ye might perceiue the loue which I haue, specially vnto you. |
| 2:5 | And if any hath caused sorowe, the same hath not made mee sorie, but partly (lest I should more charge him) you all. |
| 2:6 | It is sufficient vnto the same man, that hee was rebuked of many. |
| 2:7 | So that nowe contrariwise yee ought rather to forgiue him, and comfort him, lest the same shoulde bee swalowed vp with ouermuch heauinesse. |
| 2:8 | Wherefore, I pray you, that you woulde confirme your loue towards him. |
| 2:9 | For this cause also did I write, that I might knowe the proofe of you, whether yee would be obedient in all things. |
| 2:10 | To whome yee forgiue any thing, I forgiue also: for verely if I forgaue any thing, to whome I forgaue it, for your sakes forgaue I it in the sight of Christ, |
| 2:11 | Lest Satan should circumuent vs: for we are not ignorant of his enterprises. |
| 2:12 | Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christs Gospell, and a doore was opened vnto me of the Lord, |
| 2:13 | I had no rest in my spirit, because I founde not Titus my brother, but tooke my leaue of them, and went away into Macedonia. |
| 2:14 | Now thankes be vnto God, which alwaies maketh vs to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the sauour of his knowledge by vs in euery place. |
| 2:15 | For wee are vnto God the sweete sauour of Christ, in them that are saued, and in them which perish. |
| 2:16 | To the one we are the sauour of death, vnto death, and to the other the sauour of life, vnto life: and who is sufficient for these things? |
| 2:17 | For wee are not as many, which make marchandise of the woorde of God: but as of sinceritie, but as of God in ye sight of God speake we in Christ. |
| 2:1 | But I determened this in my silfe yt I wolde not come agayne to you in hevines. |
| 2:2 | For yf I make you sorye who is it that shuld make me glad but the same which is made sory by me? |
| 2:3 | And I wrote this same pistle vnto you lest yf I came I shuld take hevynes of them of whom I ought to reioyce. Certaynly this confidence have I in you all that my ioye is the ioye of you all. |
| 2:4 | For in great affliccion and anguysshe of hert I wrote vnto you with many teares: not to make you sory but that ye myght perceave the love which I have most specially vnto you. |
| 2:5 | If eny man hath caused sorow the same hath not made me sory but partely: lest I shuld greve you all. |
| 2:6 | It is sufficient vnto the same man that he was rebuked of many. |
| 2:7 | So that now contrary wyse ye ought to forgeve him and comforte him: lest that same persone shuld be swalowed vp with over moche hevines. |
| 2:8 | Wherfore I exhorte you that love maye have stregth over him. |
| 2:9 | For this cause verely dyd I write that I myght knowe the profe of you whether ye shuld be obediet in all thinges. |
| 2:10 | To whom ye forgeve enythinge I forgeve also. And verely if I forgeve enythinge to whom I forgave it for youre sakes forgave I it in the roume of Christ |
| 2:11 | lest Satan shuld prevet vs. For his thoughtes are not vnknowen vnto vs. |
| 2:12 | When I was come to Troada for Christes gospels sake (and a great dore was openned vnto me of the Lorde) |
| 2:13 | I had no rest in my sprete because I founde not Titus my brother: but toke my leave of them and went awaye into Macedonia. |
| 2:14 | Thankes be vnto God which alwayes geveth vs the victorie in Christ and openeth the saver of his knowledge by vs in every place. |
| 2:15 | For we are vnto God the swete savoure of Christ both amoge them that are saved and also amoge them which perisshe. |
| 2:16 | To the one parte are we ye savoure of deeth vnto deeth. And vnto the other parte are we the savoure of lyfe vnto lyfe. And who is mete vnto these thinges? |
| 2:17 | For we are not as many are which choppe and chaunge with the worde of God: but even oute of purenes and by the power of God and in the sight of God so speake we in Christ. |
