| 3:1 | Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, letters of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you? |
| 3:2 | You are our letter written in our hearts, known and read by everyone; |
| 3:3 | in as much as you are clearly declared to be a letter of Christ, delivered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart. |
| 3:4 | And we have such confidence through Christ toward God. |
| 3:5 | Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as originating from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, |
| 3:6 | who also has made us competent ministers of the new testament, not of the letter but of the Spirit; because the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. |
| 3:7 | But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadfastly at Moses' face because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, |
| 3:8 | how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? |
| 3:9 | Because, if the ministry of condemnation is glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. |
| 3:10 | Because, even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. |
| 3:11 | Because, if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious. |
| 3:12 | Therefore, seeing we have such hope, we use much freedom of speech; |
| 3:13 | unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadfastly at the outcome of what was passing away. |
| 3:14 | But their minds were blinded. Because, until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament. This veil is taken away in Christ. |
| 3:15 | But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil is upon their heart. |
| 3:16 | Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil will be taken away. |
| 3:17 | Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. |
| 3:18 | But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. |
| 3:1 | Doe we begin to praise our selues againe? or neede we as some other, epistles of recommendation vnto you, or letters of recommendation from you? |
| 3:2 | Yee are our epistle, written in our hearts, which is vnderstand, and read of all men, |
| 3:3 | In that yee are manifest, to be the Epistle of Christ, ministred by vs, and written, not with yncke, but with the Spirite of the liuing God, not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart. |
| 3:4 | And such trust haue we through Christ to God: |
| 3:5 | Not that we are sufficient of our selues, to thinke any thing, as of our selues: but our sufficiencie is of God, |
| 3:6 | Who also hath made vs able ministers of the Newe testament, not of the letter, but of the Spirite: for the letter killeth, but the Spirite giueth life. |
| 3:7 | If then the ministration of death written with letters and ingrauen in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel coulde not beholde the face of Moses, for the glorie of his countenance (which glorie is done away.) |
| 3:8 | Howe shall not the ministration of the Spirite be more glorious? |
| 3:9 | For if the ministerie of condemnation was glorious, much more doeth the ministration of righteousnesse exceede in glorie. |
| 3:10 | For euen that which was glorified, was not glorified in this point, that is, as touching the exceeding glorie. |
| 3:11 | For if that which should be abolished, was glorious, much more shall that which remaineth, be glorious. |
| 3:12 | Seeing then that we haue such trust, we vse great boldnesse of speach. |
| 3:13 | And we are not as Moses, which put a vaile vpon his face, that the children of Israel should not looke vnto the ende of that which should be abolished. |
| 3:14 | Therefore their mindes are hardened: for vntill this day remaineth the same couering vntaken away in the reading of the olde Testament, which vaile in Christ is put away. |
| 3:15 | But euen vnto this day, whe Moses is read, the vaile is laid ouer their hearts. |
| 3:16 | Neuertheles when their heart shall be turned to the Lord, the vaile shalbe taken away. |
| 3:17 | Nowe the Lord is the Spirite, and where the Spirite of the Lord is, there is libertie. |
| 3:18 | But we al behold as in a mirrour the glory of the Lord with open face, and are changed into the same image, from glorie to glorie, as by the Spirit of the Lord. |
| 3:1 | We begyn to prayse oure selves agayne. Nede we as some other of pistles of recommendacion vnto you? or letters of recomendacion from you? |
| 3:2 | Ye are oure pistle written in oure hertes which is vnderstonde and reed of all men |
| 3:3 | in that ye are knowen how that ye are the pistle of Christ ministred by vs and written not with ynke: but with the sprete of the livynge God not in tables of stone but in flesshly tables of ye herte. |
| 3:4 | Suche trust have we thorow Christ to god ward |
| 3:5 | not that we are sufficient of oure selves to thinke enythinge as it were of oure selves: but oure ablenes cometh of God |
| 3:6 | which hath made vs able to minister the newe testamet not of the letter but of the sprete. For the letter kylleth but the sprete geveth lyfe. |
| 3:7 | Yf the ministracion of deeth thorow the letters figured in stones was glorious so yt the chyldren of Israel coulde not beholde the face of Moses for the glory of his countenauce (which glory neverthelesse is done awaye) |
| 3:8 | why shall not the ministracion of the sprete be moche more glorious? |
| 3:9 | For if ye ministringe of condempnacio beglorious: moche more do the the ministracion of rightewesnes excede in glory. |
| 3:10 | For no dout that which was there glorified is not once glorified in respecte of this excedynge glory. |
| 3:11 | Then if that which is destroyed was glorious moche more shall that which remayneth be glorious. |
| 3:12 | Seynge then that we have soche trust we vse gret boldnes |
| 3:13 | and do not as Moses which put a vayle over his face that the children of Israel shuld not se for what purpose that served which is put awaye. |
| 3:14 | But their myndes were blinded. For untill this daye remayneth the same coveringe vntake awaye in the olde testamet when they reade it which in Christ is put awaye. |
| 3:15 | But even vnto this daye when Moses is redde ye vayle hangeth before their hertes. |
| 3:16 | Neverthelesse when they tourne to ye Lorde the vayle shalbe taken awaye. |
| 3:17 | The Lorde no dout is a sprete. And where the sprete of the Lorde is there is libertie. |
| 3:18 | But we all beholde the glorye of the Lorde with his face open and are chaunged vnto the same similitude from glory to glory even of the sprite of the Lorde. |
