| 10:1 | I Paule my selfe beseche you by the mekenesse and softenes of Christe, whiche when I am present amonge you, am of no reputacion, but am bolde toward you beynge absent, |
| 10:2 | I beseche you, that I nede not to be bolde, when I am present (with that same confydence, wherewith I am supposed to be bolde) agaynste some whiche repute vs as though we walked carnally. |
| 10:3 | Neuerthelesse thoughe we walke compassed wt the fleshe, yet we ware not fleshly. |
| 10:4 | For the weapens of oure warre are not carnal thynges, but thynges myghtye in God to caste doune stronge holdes, |
| 10:5 | wherewith we ouerthrowe Imaginations and euerye hye thynge that exalteth it selfe agaynste the knoweledge of God, and brynge into captiuite all vnderstandynge to the obedience of Christe, |
| 10:6 | and are redye to take vengeaunce on all disobedience, when youre obedience is fulfylled. |
| 10:7 | Loke ye on thynges after the vtter apparence? Yf any man truste in hym selfe that he is Christes, let the same also consydre of him self that as he is Christes, euen so are we Christes |
| 10:8 | and thoughe I shoulde boste my selfe some what more of oure authoritie which the Lord hath geuen vs to edifye, and not to destroye you, it shoulde not be to my shame. |
| 10:9 | This say I, leste I shoulde seme, as thoughe I went about to make you afrayde with letters. |
| 10:10 | For the Epystles (sayeth he) are sore and stronge, but hys bodely presence is weake, and hys speach rude. |
| 10:11 | Let hym that is suche, thynke on thys wyse, that as we are in wordes by letters when we are absent, such are we in dedes when we are present. |
| 10:12 | For we can not fynde in oure hertes to make oure selues of the numbre of them, or to compare oure selues to them, whiche laud them selues, neuerthelesse while they measure them selues wyth them selues, and compare them selues with them selues, they vnderstande nought. |
| 10:13 | But we wyll not reioyce aboue measure: but accordynge to the quantitye of the measure, whiche God hath distrybuted vnto vs, a measure that reacheth euen vnto you. |
| 10:14 | For we stretche not oure selues beyonde measure, as thoughe we had not reacheth vnto you. For euen vnto you haue we come with the Gospell of Christe, |
| 10:15 | and we boste not oure selues out of measure in other mens labours. Yea, and we hope, when your fayth is increased amonge you, to be magnifyed accordynge to oure measure more largelye, |
| 10:16 | and to preache the Gospell in those regyons, whiche are beyonde you: and not to reioyce of that whiche is by another mans measure prepared already. |
| 10:17 | Let hym that reioyceth, reioyce in the Lord. |
| 10:18 | For he that prayseth hym self, is not allowed: but he whom the Lorde prayseth. |
| 10:1 | Nowe I Paul my selfe beseech you by the meekenes, and gentlenes of Christ, which when I am present among you am base, but am bolde toward you being absent: |
| 10:2 | And this I require you, that I neede not to be bolde when I am present, with that same confidence, wherewith I thinke to bee bolde against some, which esteeme vs as though wee walked according to the flesh. |
| 10:3 | Neuerthelesse, though wee walke in the flesh, yet we doe not warre after the flesh. |
| 10:4 | (For the weapons of our warrefare are not carnall, but mightie through God, to cast downe holdes) |
| 10:5 | Casting downe the imaginations, and euery high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captiuitie euery thought to the obedience of Christ, |
| 10:6 | And hauing ready the vengeance against all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. |
| 10:7 | Looke yee on things after the appearance? If any man trust in himselfe that hee is Christes, let him consider this againe of himself, that as he is Christes, euen so are we Christes. |
| 10:8 | For though I shoulde boast somewhat more of our authoritie, which the Lord hath giuen vs for edification, and not for your destruction, I should haue no shame. |
| 10:9 | This I say, that I may not seeme as it were to feare you with letters. |
| 10:10 | For the letters, sayeth hee, are sore and strong, but his bodily presence is weake, and his speache is of no value. |
| 10:11 | Let such one thinke this, that such as wee are in woorde by letters, when we are absent, such wil we be also in deede, when we are present. |
| 10:12 | For wee dare not make our selues of the nomber, or to compare our selues to them, which praise themselues: but they vnderstand not that they measure themselues with themselues, and compare themselues with themselues. |
| 10:13 | But we wil not reioyce of things, which are not within our measure, but according to the measure of the line, whereof God hath distributed vnto vs a measure to attaine euen vnto you. |
| 10:14 | For we stretche not our selues beyonde our measure, as though wee had not attained vnto you: for euen to you also haue we come in preaching the Gospel of Christ, |
| 10:15 | Not boasting of things which are without our measure: that is, of other mens labours: and we hope, when your faith shall increase, to bee magnified by you according to our line aboundantly, |
| 10:16 | And to preache the Gospel in those regions which are beyonde you: not to reioyce in another mans line, that is, in the thinges that are prepared alreadie. |
| 10:17 | But let him that reioyceth, reioyce in the Lord. |
| 10:18 | For hee that praiseth himselfe, is not alowed, but he whome the Lord praiseth. |
| 10:1 | Now I Paul my selfe beseech you, by the meekenes and gentlenesse of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent, am bold toward you: |
| 10:2 | But I beseech you, that I may not bee bold when I am present, with that confidence wherewith I thinke to be bold against some, which thinke of vs as if wee walked according to the flesh. |
| 10:3 | For though we walke in the flesh, we doe not warre after the flesh: |
| 10:4 | (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling downe of strong holds.) |
| 10:5 | Casting down imaginations, and euery high thing that exalteth it selfe against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captiuitie euery thought to the obedience of Christ: |
| 10:6 | And hauing in a readinesse to reuenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. |
| 10:7 | Doe ye looke on things after the outward appearance? if any man trust to himselfe, that he is Christs, let him of himselfe thinke this againe, that as he is Christs, euen so are we Christs. |
| 10:8 | For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority (which the Lord hath giuen vs for edification, and not for your destruction) I should not be ashamed: |
| 10:9 | That I may not seeme as if I would terrifie you by letters. |
| 10:10 | For his letters (say they) are waighty and powerfull, but his bodily presence is weake, and his speach contemptible. |
| 10:11 | Let such a one thinke this: that such as we are in word by letters, when we are absent, such will we be also in deede when we are present. |
| 10:12 | For we dare not make our selues of the number, or compare our selues with some that commend themselues: but they measuring themselues by themselues, and comparing themselues amongst themselues, are not wise. |
| 10:13 | But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule, which God hath distributed to vs, a measure to reach euen vnto you. |
| 10:14 | For we stretch not our selues beyond our measure as though wee reached not vnto you, for wee are come as farre as to you also, in preaching the Gospel of Christ. |
| 10:15 | Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other mens labours, but hauing hope, when your faith is increased, that wee shall bee enlarged by you, according to our rule abundantly. |
| 10:16 | To preach the Gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another mans line of things made ready to our hand. |
| 10:17 | But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. |
| 10:18 | For, not he that commendeth himselfe is approued, but whom the Lord commendeth. |
