| 4:1 | I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, |
| 4:2 | with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, |
| 4:3 | endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. |
| 4:4 | There is one body and one Spirit, just as you are called in one hope of your calling; |
| 4:5 | one Lord, one faith, one baptism; |
| 4:6 | one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. |
| 4:7 | But to each one of us grace is given according to the measure of the gift of Christ. |
| 4:8 | Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men." |
| 4:9 | (Now this, "He ascended," what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? |
| 4:10 | He who descended is also the same who ascended up far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) |
| 4:11 | And He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, |
| 4:12 | for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, |
| 4:13 | until we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; |
| 4:14 | that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, and cunning craftiness, in which they make plans to deceive, |
| 4:15 | but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head, who is Christ, |
| 4:16 | from whom the entire body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. |
| 4:17 | This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, |
| 4:18 | having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; |
| 4:19 | who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to filthiness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. |
| 4:20 | But you have not so learned Christ, |
| 4:21 | if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: |
| 4:22 | that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which is corrupted according to the deceitful lusts, |
| 4:23 | and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, |
| 4:24 | and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in righteousness and true holiness. |
| 4:25 | Therefore, putting away lying, "every one speak truth with his neighbor," because we are members of one another. |
| 4:26 | "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath, |
| 4:27 | nor give place to the devil. |
| 4:28 | Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands that which is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. |
| 4:29 | Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may minister grace to the hearers. |
| 4:30 | And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. |
| 4:31 | Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. |
| 4:32 | And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God forgave you because of Christ. |
| 4:1 | I therefore, being prisoner in the Lord, praie you that yee walke worthie of the vocation whereunto yee are called, |
| 4:2 | With all humblenesse of minde, and meekenesse, with long suffering, supporting one an other through loue, |
| 4:3 | Endeuouring to keepe the vnitie of the Spirit in the bond of peace. |
| 4:4 | There is one body, and one Spirit, euen as yee are called in one hope of your vocation. |
| 4:5 | There is one Lord, one Faith, one Baptisme, |
| 4:6 | One God and Father of all, which is aboue all, and through all, and in you all. |
| 4:7 | But vnto euery one of vs is giuen grace, according to the measure of the gift of Christ. |
| 4:8 | Wherfore he saith, Whe he asceded vp on hie, he led captiuity captiue, and gaue gifts vnto men. |
| 4:9 | (Nowe, in that hee ascended, what is it but that he had also descended first into the lowest partes of the earth? |
| 4:10 | Hee that descended, is euen the same that ascended, farre aboue all heauens, that hee might fill all things) |
| 4:11 | Hee therefore gaue some to be Apostles, and some Prophets, and some Euangelists, and some Pastours, and Teachers, |
| 4:12 | For the repairing of the Saintes, for the woorke of the ministerie, and for the edification of the bodie of Christ, |
| 4:13 | Till we all meete together (in the vnitie of faith and that acknowledging of the Sonne of God) vnto a perfite man, and vnto the measure of the age of the fulnesse of Christ, |
| 4:14 | That we henceforth be no more children, wauering and caried about with euery winde of doctrine, by the deceit of men, and with craftines, whereby they lay in wait to deceiue. |
| 4:15 | But let vs folowe the truth in loue, and in all things, grow vp into him, which is the head, that is, Christ. |
| 4:16 | By whome al the body being coupled and knit together by euery ioynt, for ye furniture therof (according to the effectual power, which is in the measure of euery part) receiueth increase of the body, vnto the edifying of itselfe in loue. |
| 4:17 | This I say therefore and testifie in the Lord, that yee hencefoorth walke not as other Gentiles walke, in vanitie of their minde, |
| 4:18 | Hauing their vnderstanding darkened, and being strangers from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardnesse of their heart: |
| 4:19 | Which being past feeling, haue giuen themselues vnto wantonnesse, to woorke all vncleannesse, euen with griedinesse. |
| 4:20 | But yee haue not so learned Christ, |
| 4:21 | If so be yee haue heard him, and haue bene taught by him, as the trueth is in Iesus, |
| 4:22 | That is, that yee cast off, concerning the conuersation in time past, that olde man, which is corrupt through the deceiueable lustes, |
| 4:23 | And be renued in the spirit of your minde, |
| 4:24 | And put on ye new man, which after God is created vnto righteousnes, and true holines. |
| 4:25 | Wherefore cast off lying, and speake euery man truth vnto his neighbour: for we are members one of another. |
| 4:26 | Bee angrie, but sinne not: let not the sunne goe downe vpon your wrath, |
| 4:27 | Neither giue place to the deuill. |
| 4:28 | Let him that stole, steale no more: but let him rather labour, and worke with his handes the thing which is good, that hee may haue to giue vnto him that needeth. |
| 4:29 | Let no corrupt comunication proceed out of your mouths: but that which is good, to ye vse of edifying, that it may minister grace vnto the hearers. |
| 4:30 | And grieue not the holy Spirit of God, by whom ye are sealed vnto ye day of redemption. |
| 4:31 | Let all bitternesse, and anger, and wrath, crying, and euill speaking be put away from you, with all maliciousnesse. |
| 4:32 | Be ye courteous one to another, and tender hearted, freely forgiuing one another, euen as God for Christes sake, freely forgaue you. |
| 4:1 | I therfore which am in bondes for the lordes sake exhorte you that ye walke worthy of the vocacion wherwith ye are called |
| 4:2 | in all humblenes of mynde and meknes and longe sufferynge forbearinge one another thorowe love |
| 4:3 | and that ye be dyliget to kepe ye vnitie of ye sprete in the bonde of peace |
| 4:4 | beynge one body and one sprete eve as ye are called in one hope of youre callynge. |
| 4:5 | Let ther be but one lorde one fayth one baptim: |
| 4:6 | one god and father of all which is above all thorow all and in you all. |
| 4:7 | Vnto every one of vs is geven grace acordinge to the measure of ye gyft of christ. |
| 4:8 | Wherfore he sayth: He is gone vp an hye and hath ledde captivitie captive and hath geven gyftes vnto men. |
| 4:9 | That he ascended: what meaneth it but that he also descended fyrst into the lowest parties of the erth? |
| 4:10 | He that descended is even the same also that ascended vp even above all hevens to fulfill all thinges. |
| 4:11 | And the very same made some Apostles some prophetes some Evangelistes some Sheperdes some Teachers: |
| 4:12 | yt the sainctes might have all thinges necessarie to worke and minister with all to the edifyinge of the body of christ |
| 4:13 | tyll we every one (in the vnitie of fayth and knowledge of the sonne of god) growe vp vnto a parfayte man after ye measure of age of the fulnes of Christ. |
| 4:14 | That we hence forth be no moare chyldren wauerynge and caryed with every wynde of doctryne by the wylynes of men and craftynes wherby they laye a wayte for vs to deceave vs. |
| 4:15 | But let vs folowe the trueth in loue and in all thynges growe in him which is the heed that ys to saye Christ |
| 4:16 | in whom all the body ys coupled and knet togedder in every ioynt wherwith one ministreth to another (accordinge to the operacion as every parte hath his measure) and increaseth the body vnto the edyfyinge of it silfe in love. |
| 4:17 | This I saye therfore and testifie in ye lorde that ye hence forth walke not as other gentyls walke in vanitie of their mynde |
| 4:18 | blynded in their vnderstondynge beynge straungers from the lyfe which is in god thorow the ignorancy that is in them because of the blyndnes of their hertes: |
| 4:19 | which beynge past repentaunce have geven them selves vnto wantannes to worke all manner of vnclennes even with gredynes. |
| 4:20 | But ye have not so learned Christ |
| 4:21 | if so be ye have hearde of him and are taught in him even as the trueth is in Iesu. |
| 4:22 | So then as concernynge the coversacion in tyme past laye from you that olde ma which is corrupte thorow the deceavable lustes |
| 4:23 | and be ye renued in the sprete of youre myndes |
| 4:24 | and put on that newe man which after the ymage of God is shapen in ryghtewesnes and true holynes. |
| 4:25 | Wherfore put awaye lyinge and speake every man truth vnto his neghbour for as moche as we are members one of another. |
| 4:26 | Be angrye but synne not let not the sonne go doune apon your wrathe |
| 4:27 | nether geue place vnto ye backbyter. |
| 4:28 | Let him yt stole steale no moare but let him rather laboure with his hondes some good thinge that he maye have to geve vnto him that nedeth. |
| 4:29 | Let no filthy comunicacion procede out of youre mouthes: but yt whych is good to edefye with all when nede ys: that it maye have faveour with the hearers. |
| 4:30 | And greve not the holy sprete of God by whome ye are sealed vnto the daye of redempcion. |
| 4:31 | Let all bitternes fearsnes and wrath rorynge and cursyd speakynge be put awaye from you with all maliciousnes. |
| 4:32 | Be ye courteouse one to another and mercifull forgevynge one another eve as god for Christes sake forgave you. |
