Ephesians - Chapter: 5

>
5:1Be ye folowers of God as deare children,
5:2and walke in loue euen as Christe loued vs, and gaue hym selfe for vs, an offeringe, and a sacrifice of a swete sauoure to God.
5:3So that fornicacion and vncleanes, or couetousnes be not ones named amonge you, as it becommeth sainctes:
5:4neyther fylthynes, neyther folyshe talkinge, neither gestinge whiche are not comely: but rather geuinge of thankes.
5:5For this ye knowe, that no whormonger, other vncleane persone, or couetous person, whyche is the worshypper of Images, hath anye inheritaunce in the kyngdome of Christe and of God.
5:6Let no man deceiue you with vayne wordes. For thorowe suche thinges commeth the wrath of God vpon the children of vnbelefe.
5:7Be not therfore companions wyth them.
5:8Ye were ones darckenes, but are nowe lyghte in the Lorde. Walke as chyldren of lyghte.
5:9For the fruite of the spirite is in all goodnes, ryghtuousnes and trueth.
5:10Accepte that whiche is pleasinge to the Lorde:
5:11and haue no fellowshyp wyth the vnfruitfull workes of darckenes: but rather rebuke them.
5:12For it is shame euen to name those thinges, whiche are done of them in secrete:
5:13but all thinges, when they are rebuked of the lyghte are manifeste. For what soeuer is manifeste, that same is lyght.
5:14Wherfore he sayth: awake thou that slepest, and stand vp from death, and Christ shall geue the lyght.
5:15Take hede therfore that ye walke circumspectlye: not as foles, but as wyse
5:16redeminge the time, for the dayes are iuel.
5:17Wherfore be ye not vnwise, but vnderstande what the wyll of the Lorde is,
5:18and be not drounke wt wyne. wherin is excesse, but be fulfylled wyth the spirite,
5:19speakinge vnto your selues in Psalmes, and Hymnes, and spiritual sounges, singing and makinge melodye to the Lorde in your hertes,
5:20geuinge thankes alwayes for al thinges vnto God the father, in the name of oure Lorde Iesu Christe,
5:21submittinge your selues one to another in the feare of God.
5:22Women submitte youre selues vnto your owne husbandes, as vnto the Lorde.
5:23For the husbande is the wyues head, euen as Christe is the heade of the congregation, and the same is the sauiour of the body.
5:24Therfore as the congregation is in subieccion to Christe, lykewyse let the wyues be in subieccion to theyr husbandes in all thynges.
5:25Husbandes loue youre wyues, euen as Christe loued the congregation, and gaue him selfe for it,
5:26to sanctifye it, and cleansed it in the fountayne of water thorowe the worde
5:27to make it vnto hym selfe a glorious congregation wythout spotte or wrinckle, or anye suche thinge: but that it shoulde be holy and wythout blame.
5:28So ought men to loue theyr wyues, as their owne bodies. He that loueth hys wyfe, loueth him selfe.
5:29For no man euer yet hated hys owne fleshe, but norisheth and cherisseth it euen as the Lorde doeth the congregation.
5:30For we are members of his bodie, of his fleshe, and of hys bones.
5:31For this cause shall a man leaue father and mother, and shall continue wyth hys wyfe, and two shalbe made one fleshe.
5:32Thys is a greate secrete, but I speake betwene Christe and the congregation.
5:33Neuerthelesse do ye so that euerye one of you loue his wyfe truely euen as hym selfe: And let the wyfe se that she feare her husbande.

5:1Be ye therefore folowers of God, as deare chyldren:
5:2And walke ye in loue, euen as Christe hath loued vs, and hath geuen hym selfe for vs an offering and a sacrifice of a sweete smellyng sauour to God.
5:3But fornication, and all vncleannesse, or couetousnesse, let it not be once named among you, as it becommeth saintes:
5:4Neither fylthynesse, neither foolyshe talkyng, neither iestyng, which are not comely: but rather, geuyng of thankes.
5:5For this ye knowe, that no whoremonger, neither vncleane person, nor couetous person, which is a worshipper of images, hath any inheritaunce in the kyngdome of Christe, and of God.
5:6Let no man deceaue you with vayne wordes: For, because of such thynges commeth the wrath of God vppon the chyldren of disobedience.
5:7Be not ye therefore companions of them.
5:8For ye were sometimes darknesse: but nowe are ye lyght in the Lorde. Walke as chyldren of lyght.
5:9For the fruite of the spirite (is) in all goodnesse, and righteousnesse, & trueth,
5:10Approuyng what is acceptable vnto the Lorde.
5:11And haue no felowship with the vnfruitefull workes of darknesse, but rather euen rebuke them.
5:12For it is shame euen to name those thynges whiche are done of them in secrete.
5:13But all thynges, when they are rebuked of the lyght, are manifest: For all that which do make manifest, is lyght.
5:14Wherefore he sayth: Awake thou that sleepest, and stande vp from the dead, and Christe shall geue thee lyght.
5:15Take heede therfore howe ye walke circumspectlye: not as vnwyse, but as wyse,
5:16Redeemyng the time, because ye dayes are euyll.
5:17Wherfore be ye not vnwise, but vnderstandyng what the wyll of the Lord is.
5:18And be not drunke with wine, wherin is excesse: but be fylled with the spirite,
5:19Speaking vnto your selues in psalmes and hymnes, and spirituall songues, syngyng and makyng melodie to the Lorde in your heartes:
5:20Geuing thankes alwayes for all thinges vnto God and the father, in ye name of our Lorde Iesus Christe,
5:21Submittyng your selues one to another in the feare of God.
5:22Wyues, submit your selues vnto your owne husbandes, as vnto the Lorde:
5:23For the husbande is the head of the wyfe, euen as Christe is the head of the Church: & he is the sauiour of the bodie.
5:24But as the Church is subiect to Christ, lykewyse the wyues to their owne husbandes in all thynges.
5:25Ye husbandes loue your wyues, euen as Christe also loued the Churche, and gaue hym selfe for it,
5:26To sanctifie it, clensyng [it] in the fountayne of water in the worde,
5:27To make it vnto hym selfe a glorious Churche, not hauyng spot or wrinckle, or any such thyng: but that it should be holy, and without blame.
5:28So ought men to loue their wyues, as their owne bodies. He that loueth his wyfe, loueth hym selfe.
5:29For no man euer yet hated his owne flesshe: but norissheth & cherissheth it, euen as the Lorde the Churche.
5:30For we are members of his body, of his flesshe, and of his bones.
5:31For this cause shall a man leaue father and mother, and shalbe ioyned vnto his wyfe, and two shalbe made one flesshe.
5:32This is a great secrete: but I speake of Christe and of the Churche.
5:33Therfore euery one of you [do ye so] Let euery one of you loue his wyfe euen as hym selfe, and [let] the wyfe reuerence her husbande.

5:1Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
5:2And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor.
5:3But lewdness and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
5:4Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5:5For this ye know, that no lewd, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
5:6Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
5:7Be ye not therefore partakers with them.
5:8For ye were sometime darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light;
5:9(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth;)
5:10Proving what is acceptable to the Lord.
5:11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
5:12For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
5:13But all things that are reproved, are made manifest by the light: for whatever doth make manifest is light.
5:14Wherefore he saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give thee light.
5:15See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
5:16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
5:17Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
5:18And be not drunk with wine, in which is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
5:19Speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
5:20Giving thanks always for all things to God and the Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
5:21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
5:22Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
5:23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the Savior of the body.
5:24Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
5:25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
5:26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
5:27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
5:28So ought men to love their wives, as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife, loveth himself.
5:29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
5:30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
5:31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
5:32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
5:33Nevertheless, let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself: and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
