1:6 | and am surelye certifyed of this, that he whyche began a good worke in you, shall go forth wyth it vntyll the daye of Iesus Christe, |
1:7 | as it becommeth me so to iudge of you al, because I haue you in my herte, and haue you also euerye one companions of grace wyth me, euen in my boundes as I defende and stablishe the Gospel. |
1:8 | For God beareth me recorde howe greatlye I longe after you all from the very herte rote in Iesus Christe. |
1:9 | And this I praye, that youre loue maye increase more and more in knowledge, and in al fealinge, |
1:10 | that ye myght accepte thinges moste excellent, that ye might be pure and such as should hurte no mannes conscience, vntyll the daye of Christe, |
1:11 | fylled with the fruites of rightuousnes, which fruites come by Iesus Christ vnto the glory and laude of God. |
1:12 | I woulde ye vnderstode brethren that my busines is happened vnto the greater furtheringe of the Gospel. |
1:13 | So that my boundes in Christe are manifeste thorowe out al the iudgement hal and in al other places: |
1:14 | In so much that many of the brethren in the Lorde are boldened thorowe my boundes, & dare more largely speake the worde without feare. |
1:15 | Some there are whiche preache Christ of enuie and stryfe, and some of good wyll. |
1:16 | The one parte preacheth Christe of strife and not purelye supposinge to adde more aduersitye to my boundes. |
1:17 | The other parte of loue, because they se that I am set to defende the Gospell. |
1:18 | What then? So, that Christe be preached al maner wayes, whether it be by occasion, or of true meaninge, I therin ioye: ye & will ioye. |
1:19 | For I knowe that this shall chaunce to my saluacion, thorowe your prayer and mynystringe of the spyryte of Iesu Christe, |
1:20 | as I hertely loke for and hope that in nothinge I shalbe ashamed, but that wyth all confydence as alwayes in tymes paste, euen so nowe Christe shall be magnyfyed in my bodye, whether it be thorowe lyfe, or else death. |
1:21 | For Christe is to me lyfe, and death is to me auauntage. |
1:22 | Yf it chaunce me to lyue in the fleshe, that is to me frutefull for to worke, and what to chose |
1:23 | I wote not. I am constrayned of two thinges: I desire to be lowsed and to be wyth Christe, whiche thinge is best of all. |
1:24 | Neuerthelesse to abyde in the fleshe is more nedeful for you. |
1:25 | And thys am I sure of that I shall abyde, and wyth you all continue for the furtheraunce and ioye of your faith, |
1:26 | that ye may more aboundantly reioyce in Iesus Christe thorowe me, by my comminge to you again. |
1:27 | Onlye let your conuersation be as it becommeth the Gospell of Christ, that whether I come and se you, or els be absent, I maye yet heare of you, that ye continue in one spyrite, and in one soule, labouring as we do, to mayntayne the fayth of the Gospell, |
1:28 | and in nothing fearing your aduersaries: whiche is to them a token of perdicion, and to you of saluation, and that of God. |
1:29 | For vnto you it is geuen, that not onely ye should beleue on Christ, but also suffre for his sake, |
1:30 | and haue euen the same fyght, whiche ye sawe me haue and now heare of me. |
1:1 | Paul & Timotheus the seruauntes of Iesus Christ: To all the saintes in Christ Iesus, whiche are at Philippos, with the bisshops & deacons: |
1:2 | Grace [be] vnto you, and peace fro God our father, and [from] the Lorde Iesus Christ. |
1:3 | I thanke my God, with all remembraunce of you, |
1:4 | ( Alwayes in all my prayer for all you, makyng prayer with gladnesse,) |
1:5 | For your felowship in the Gospell, fro the first day vntyll nowe. |
1:6 | And beyng perswaded of this same thyng, that he which hath begun good worke in you, wyll perfourme it vntyll the day of Iesus Christe, |
1:7 | As it becommeth me to iudge this of you al, because I haue you in my heart, and in my bondes, in the defence and confirmation of the Gospell, you all beyng partakers of my grace. |
1:8 | For God is my recorde howe greatly I long after you all, in the bowels of Iesus Christe. |
1:9 | And this I pray, that your loue may abounde yet more and more in knowledge, and in all vnderstandyng: |
1:10 | That ye maye discerne thynges that differ, that ye maye be pure, and without offence, tyll the day of Christe. |
1:11 | Beyng fylled with the fruites of righteousnesse, which [are] by Iesus Christ, vnto the glorie and prayse of God. |
1:12 | But I woulde ye should vnderstande brethren, that the thinges which [came] vnto me, hath come rather vnto the furtheraunce of the Gospell: |
1:13 | So that my bondes in Christe, are manifest, throughout all the iudgement hall, and in all other [places.] |
1:14 | And many of the brethren of the Lord, beyng incouraged through my bondes, dare more plentifully speake the word, without feare. |
1:15 | Some preache Christe of enuie & strife, and some of good wyll. |
1:16 | The one preache Christe of strife, not sincerely, supposyng to adde more affliction to my bondes: |
1:17 | But the others of loue, knowing that I am set to the defence of the Gospell. |
1:18 | What then? So that Christe be preached any maner of way, whether it be by pretence, or by trueth, I ioy therein, and wyll ioy. |
1:19 | For I knowe that this shall turne to my saluation, through your prayer, and ministryng of the spirite of Iesus Christe, |
1:20 | Accordyng to my expectation, and my hope, yt in nothyng I shalbe ashamed: but yt with all boldnesse, as alwayes, so now also, Christ shalbe magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. |
1:21 | For Christe [is] to me lyfe, and death [is] to me aduantage. |
1:22 | But if I lyue in the fleshe, this (is) the fruite of my labour, and what I shall chose, I wote not. |
1:23 | For I am in a strayte betwixt two, hauyng a desire to be loosed, and to be with Christ, which is much farre better. |
1:24 | Neuerthelesse, to abyde in ye fleshe, [is] more needefull for you. |
1:25 | And this am I sure of, that I shall abyde & continue with you all, for your furtheraunce and ioy of fayth, |
1:26 | That your reioysyng may be ye more aboundaunt in Iesus Christe for me, by my commyng to you agayne. |
1:27 | Only let your conuersation be, as it becommeth the Gospell of Christe: that whether I come and set you, or els be absent, I may yet heare of your matters, that ye continue in one spirite, in one soule, fyghtyng together for ye fayth of the Gospell. |
1:28 | And in nothyng fearyng your aduersaries, which is to them a token of perdition: but to you of saluatio, and that of God. |
1:29 | For vnto you it is geuen for Christe, not only this to beleue on hym: but also this, to suffer for his sake, |
1:30 | Hauing the same fight, which ye sawe in me, and nowe heare in me. |
1:1 | Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: |
1:2 | Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. |
1:3 | I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, |
1:4 | Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, |
1:5 | For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; |
1:6 | Being confident of this very thing, that he who hath begun a good work in you, will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: |
1:7 | Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. |
1:8 | For God is my witness, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. |
1:9 | And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; |
1:10 | That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ; |
1:11 | Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. |
1:12 | But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened to me have fallen out rather to the furtherance of the gospel; |
1:13 | So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; |
1:14 | And many of the brethren in the Lord, becoming confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. |
1:15 | Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife; and some also from good will. |
1:16 | The one preach Christ from contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: |
1:17 | But the other from love, knowing that I am set for the defense of the gospel. |
1:18 | What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yes, and will rejoice. |
1:19 | For I know that this will turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, |
1:20 | According to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also, Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death. |
1:21 | For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. |
1:22 | But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor: yet what I shall choose I know not. |
1:23 | For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: |
1:24 | Nevertheless, to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. |
1:25 | And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; |
1:26 | That your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again. |
1:27 | Only let your manner of life be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; |
1:28 | And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. |
1:29 | For to you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; |
1:30 | Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me. |
