Philippians - Chapter: 1

>
1:1Paul and Tymothe the seruauntes of Iesu Chryst. To all the saynctes in Chryst Iesu, which are at Philippos with the Bisshops and Deacons.
1:2Grace be vnto you and peace from God oure father, and from the Lorde Iesus Chryst.
1:3I thanke my God with all remembraunce of you
1:4all wayes in all my prayers for you, and praye with gladnes:
1:5because ye are come into the fellowshyppe of the Gospell from the fyrst daye vnto nowe
1:6and am suerly certyfyed of thys, that he, which hath begonne a good worke in you, shall perfourme it vntyll the daye of Iesus Chryst,
1:7as it becommeth me, so iudge I of you all, because I haue you in my herte: for asmoche as ye all are companyons of grace with me, euen in my bondes, and in the defendynge and stablisshynge of the Gospell.
1:8For God is my recorde, howe greatly I longe after you all, from the very herte rote in Iesus Chryst.
1:9And thys I praye, that youre loue maye increase yet more and more in knowledge, and in all vnderstandynge,
1:10that ye maye accepte the thynges that are most excellent, that ye maye be pure, and soche, as offende no man vntyll the daye of Christ:
1:11beynge fylled with the frute of ryghtewesnes, which cometh by Iesus Christ vnto the glory and prayse of God.
1:12I wolde ye shulde vnderstonde (brethren) that the thynges which happened vnto me, chaunced vnto the greate furtheraunce of the Gospell:
1:13So that my bandes in Christ, are manifeste thorowe out all the iudgement hall and in all other places:
1:14In so moche that many of the brethren in the Lorde beynge encoraged thorowe my bandes, dare more boldly speake the worde without feare.
1:15Some preache Chryst of enuie and stryfe, and some of good wyll,
1:16The one parte preache Chryst of stryfe and not syncerely, supposynge to adde more aduersytie to my bandes.
1:17Agayne the other parte preache of loue, because they knowe, that I am set to defende the Gospell.
1:18What then? So that Chryst be preached anye maner of waye, whether it be by occasyon, or of true meaninge, I am glad therof, ye and wyll be glad.
1:19For I knowe, that this shall chaunce to my saluacyon, thorowe youre prayer and ministrynge of the sprete of Iesu Chryst
1:20accordinge to my expectacion, and hope, that in nothinge I shalbe ashamed: but that wyth all boldnesse, (as all wayes euen so nowe also) Christ shall be magnifyed in my body, whether it be thorowe lyfe, or thorowe deeth.
1:21For Christ is to me lyfe, and deeth is to me auauntage.
1:22If it chaunce me to lyue in the flesshe, that thinge is to me frutefull for the worcke, and what I shall chose I wote not.
1:23For I am constrayned of these two thinges. I desyre to be loosed, & to be wt Christ which is moche & far better.
1:24Neuerthelesse, to abyde in the flesshe is more nedfull for you,
1:25And thys am I sure of, that I shall abyde, and continue with you all, for youre furtheraunce and ioye of youre fayth,
1:26that youre reioysinge maye be the more aboundant thorowe Iesus Christ in me, by my commynge to you agayne.
1:27Onely let youre conuersacyon be, as it be commeth the Gospell of Christ: that whether I come & se you, or els be absent, I maye yet heare of youre condicyon, that ye contynue in one sprete, and in one soule, labourynge as we do, to mayntayne the fayth of the Gospell,
1:28and in nothinge fearynge youre aduersaryes, which is to them a cause of perdicyon, but to you of saluacyon, & that of God:
1:29for vnto you it is geuen for Chryst, that not onely ye shulde beleue on hym: but also that ye shulde suffre for hys sake,
1:30hauynge euen soche a fyght, as ye sawe in me, and nowe heare of me.

1:1Poul and Tymothe, seruauntis of Jhesu Crist, to alle the hooli men in Crist Jhesu, that ben at Filippis, with bischopis and dekenes,
1:2grace and pees to you of God oure fadir, and of the Lord Jhesu Crist.
1:3I do thankyngis to my God
1:4in al mynde of you euere more in alle my preyeris for alle you with ioye, and
1:5make a bisechyng on youre comynyng in the gospel of Crist, fro the firste day til nowe;
1:6tristenynge this ilke thing, that he that bigan in you a good werk, schal perfourme it til in to the dai of Jhesu Crist.
1:7As it is iust to me to feele this thing for alle you, for that Y haue you in herte, and in my boondis, and in defending and confermyng of the gospel, that alle ye be felowis of my ioye.
1:8For God is a witnesse to me, hou Y coueyte alle you in the bowelis of Jhesu Crist.
1:9And this thing Y preie, that youre charite be plenteuouse more and more in kunnyng, and in al wit;
1:10that ye preue the betere thingis, that ye be clene and without offence in the dai of Crist;
1:11fillid with the fruyt of riytwysnesse bi Jhesu Crist, in to the glory and the heriyng of God.
1:12For, britheren, Y wole that ye wite, that the thingis that ben aboute me han comun more to the profit of the gospel,
1:13so that my boondis weren maad knowun in Crist, in ech moot halle, and in alle other placis;
1:14that mo of britheren tristinge in the Lord more plenteuously for my boondis, dursten without drede speke the word of God.
1:15But summe for enuye and strijf, summe for good wille, prechen Crist;
1:16and summe of charite, witinge that Y am put in the defense of the gospel.
1:17But summe of strijf schewen Crist not cleneli, gessynge hem to reise tribulacioun to my boondis.
1:18But what? the while on al maner, ethir bi occasioun, ethir bi treuthe, Crist is schewid; and in this thing Y haue ioye, but also Y schal haue ioye.
1:19And Y woot, that this thing schal come to me in to heelthe bi youre preyer, and the vndurmynystring of the spirit of `Jhesu Crist, bi myn abidyng and hope.
1:20For in no thing Y schal be schamed, but in al trist as euere more and now, Crist schal be magnefied in my bodi, ether bi lijf, ether bi deth.
1:21For me to lyue is Crist, and to die is wynnyng.
1:22That if to lyue in fleisch, is fruyt of werk to me, lo! what Y schal chese, Y knowe not.
1:23But Y am constreyned of twei thingis, Y haue desire to be dissolued, and to be with Crist, it is myche more betere; but to dwelle in fleisch,
1:24is nedeful for you.
1:25And Y tristinge this thing, woot that Y schal dwelle, and perfitli dwelle to alle you, to youre profit and ioye of feith,
1:26that youre thanking abounde in Crist Jhesu in me, bi my comyng eftsoone to you.
1:27Oneli lyue ye worthili to the gospel of Crist, that whether whanne Y come and se you, ethir absent Y here of you, that ye stonden in o spirit of o wille, trauelinge togidere to the feith of the gospel.
1:28And in no thing be ye aferd of aduersaries, which is to hem cause of perdicioun,
1:29but to you cause of heelthe. And this thing is of God. For it is youun to you for Crist, that not oneli ye bileuen in hym, but also that ye suffren for hym;
1:30hauynge the same strijf, which ye saien in me, and now ye han herd of me.

1:1Paul and Timotheus the seruauntes of Iesu Christ. Vnto all the sayntes in Iesu Christ, which are at Philippos, with the Bisshoppes and mynisters.
1:2Grace be with you and peace from God oure father, and from the LORDE Iesus Christ.
1:3I thanke my God, as oft as I remebre you
1:4(which I allwayes do in all my prayers for you all, and praye with gladnesse)
1:5because of youre fellishippe which ye haue in the Gospell from the first daye vnto now,
1:6and am surely certified of this, yt he which hath begonne that good worke in you, shal go forth with it vntyll ye daye of Iesus Christ:
1:7as it becommeth me to iudge of you all, because I haue you in my hert, as those that are partakers with me of grace in my bondes, in defendinge and stablyshinge of the Gospell.
1:8For God is my recorde, how I loge after you all euen fro the very hert rote in Iesus Christ.
1:9And for the same I praye, yt yor loue maye increace more & more in all maner of knowlege and in all experience,
1:10yt ye maye proue what is best, that ye maye be pure, & soch as hurte no mans conscience, vnto the daye of Christ:
1:11fylled with the frutes of righteousnes, which come by Iesus Christ vnto the glorye and prayse of God.
1:12I wolde ye vnderstode brethren, that my busynes is happened vnto the greater furtheraunce of the Gospell,
1:13so that my bondes in Christ are manifest thorow out all ye iudgmet hall, and in all other places:
1:14In so moch that many brethren in the LORDE, are boldened thorow my bodes, and darre more largely speake the worde without feare.
1:15Some (no doute) preach Christ of enuye and stryfe, but some of good wil.
1:16The one parte preacheth Christ off stryfe and not purely, supposynge to adde more aduersite vnto my bondes.
1:17The other parte of loue, for they knowe that I lye here for the defence of the Gospell.
1:18What then? So that Christ be preached all maner of wayes (whether it be done by occasion or of true meaninge) I reioyce therin, and wil reioyce.
1:19For I knowe that the same shal chaunce to my saluacion, thorow youre prayer and mynistrynge of the sprete of Iesu Christ,
1:20as I loke for and hope, that in nothinge I shalbe ashamed: but yt with all cofidence (as allwayes in tymes past, eue so now) Christ shalbe magnified in my body whether it be thorow life or thorow death.
1:21For Christ is to me life, & death is to me auautage.
1:22But in as moch as to lyue in ye flesh is frutefull to me for the worke, I wote not what
1:23I shal chose, for both these thinges lye harde vpon me. I desyre to be lowsed, & to be with Christ, which thinge were moch better (for me)
1:24but to abyde in the flesh is more nedefull for you.
1:25And this am I sure of, that I shal abyde, and contynue with you all, for the furtheraunce and ioye of youre faith,
1:26that ye maye abundauntly reioyse in Christ Iesu thorow me, by my comynge to you agayne.
1:27Onely let youre conuersacion be as it becommeth the Gospell of Christ, that whether I come & se you, or els be absent, I maye yet heare of you that ye cotynue in one sprete and one soule, labourynge (as we do) to mayntayne the faith of the Gospell,
1:28and in nothinge fearinge youre aduersaries, which is to them a token off perdicion, but vnto you of saluacion, and that of God.
1:29For vnto you it is geuen, not onely that ye shulde beleue on Christ, but also suffre for his sake,
1:30and to haue euen the same fighte, which ye haue sene in me, and now heare of me.
