Philippians - Chapter: 1


1:1	Poul and Tymothe, seruauntis of Jhesu Crist, to alle the hooli men in Crist Jhesu, that ben at Filippis, with bischopis and dekenes,
1:2	grace and pees to you of God oure fadir, and of the Lord Jhesu Crist.
1:3	I do thankyngis to my God
1:4	in al mynde of you euere more in alle my preyeris for alle you with ioye, and
1:5	make a bisechyng on youre comynyng in the gospel of Crist, fro the firste day til nowe;
1:6	tristenynge this ilke thing, that he that bigan in you a good werk, schal perfourme it til in to the dai of Jhesu Crist.
1:7	As it is iust to me to feele this thing for alle you, for that Y haue you in herte, and in my boondis, and in defending and confermyng of the gospel, that alle ye be felowis of my ioye.
1:8	For God is a witnesse to me, hou Y coueyte alle you in the bowelis of Jhesu Crist.
1:9	And this thing Y preie, that youre charite be plenteuouse more and more in kunnyng, and in al wit;
1:10	that ye preue the betere thingis, that ye be clene and without offence in the dai of Crist;
1:11	fillid with the fruyt of riytwysnesse bi Jhesu Crist, in to the glory and the heriyng of God.
1:12	For, britheren, Y wole that ye wite, that the thingis that ben aboute me han comun more to the profit of the gospel,
1:13	so that my boondis weren maad knowun in Crist, in ech moot halle, and in alle other placis;
1:14	that mo of britheren tristinge in the Lord more plenteuously for my boondis, dursten without drede speke the word of God.
1:15	But summe for enuye and strijf, summe for good wille, prechen Crist;
1:16	and summe of charite, witinge that Y am put in the defense of the gospel.
1:17	But summe of strijf schewen Crist not cleneli, gessynge hem to reise tribulacioun to my boondis.
1:18	But what? the while on al maner, ethir bi occasioun, ethir bi treuthe, Crist is schewid; and in this thing Y haue ioye, but also Y schal haue ioye.
1:19	And Y woot, that this thing schal come to me in to heelthe bi youre preyer, and the vndurmynystring of the spirit of `Jhesu Crist, bi myn abidyng and hope.
1:20	For in no thing Y schal be schamed, but in al trist as euere more and now, Crist schal be magnefied in my bodi, ether bi lijf, ether bi deth.
1:21	For me to lyue is Crist, and to die is wynnyng.
1:22	That if to lyue in fleisch, is fruyt of werk to me, lo! what Y schal chese, Y knowe not.
1:23	But Y am constreyned of twei thingis, Y haue desire to be dissolued, and to be with Crist, it is myche more betere; but to dwelle in fleisch,
1:24	is nedeful for you.
1:25	And Y tristinge this thing, woot that Y schal dwelle, and perfitli dwelle to alle you, to youre profit and ioye of feith,
1:26	that youre thanking abounde in Crist Jhesu in me, bi my comyng eftsoone to you.
1:27	Oneli lyue ye worthili to the gospel of Crist, that whether whanne Y come and se you, ethir absent Y here of you, that ye stonden in o spirit of o wille, trauelinge togidere to the feith of the gospel.
1:28	And in no thing be ye aferd of aduersaries, which is to hem cause of perdicioun,
1:29	but to you cause of heelthe. And this thing is of God. For it is youun to you for Crist, that not oneli ye bileuen in hym, but also that ye suffren for hym;
1:30	hauynge the same strijf, which ye saien in me, and now ye han herd of me.


1:1	Paul and Timotheus the seruants of IESVS CHRIST, to all the Saintes in Christ Iesus which are at Philippi, with the Bishops, and Deacons:
1:2	Grace be with you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Iesus Christ.
1:3	I thanke my God, hauing you in perfect memorie,
1:4	(Alwayes in all my praiers for all you, praying with gladnesse)
1:5	Because of the fellowship which ye haue in the Gospel, from the first day vnto nowe.
1:6	And I am persuaded of this same thing, that he that hath begunne this good worke in you, wil perfourme it vntill the day of Iesus Christ,
1:7	As it becommeth me so to iudge of you all, because I haue you in remembrance that both in my bands, and in my defence, and confirmation of the Gospell you all were partakers of my grace.
1:8	For God is my recorde, howe I long after you all from the very heart roote in Iesus Christ.
1:9	And this I pray, that your loue may abound, yet more and more in knowledge, and in all iudgement,
1:10	That ye may alowe those things which are best, that ye may be pure, and without offence vntill the day of Christ,
1:11	Filled with the fruites of righteousnesse, which are by Iesus Christ vnto the glorie and praise of God.
1:12	I would ye vnderstood, brethren, that the things which haue come vnto me, are turned rather to the furthering of the Gospell,
1:13	So that my bandes in Christ are famous throughout all the iudgement hall, and in all other places,
1:14	In so much that many of the brethren in the Lord are boldened through my bandes, and dare more frankely speake the word.
1:15	Some preache. Christ euen through enuie and strife, and some also of good will.
1:16	The one part preacheth Christ of contention and not purely, supposing to adde more affliction to my bandes.
1:17	But the others of loue, knowing that I am set for the defence of the Gospell.
1:18	What then? yet Christ is preached all maner wayes, whether it be vnder a pretence, or syncerely: and I therein ioye: yea and will ioye.
1:19	For I knowe that this shall turne to my saluation through your prayer, and by the helpe of the Spirit of Iesus Christ,
1:20	As I feruently looke for, and hope, that in nothing I shalbe ashamed, but that with all confidence, as alwayes, so nowe Christ shalbe magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.
1:21	For Christ is to me both in life, and in death aduantage.
1:22	And whether to liue in the flesh were profitable for me, and what to chuse I knowe not.
1:23	For I am distressed betweene both, desiring to be loosed and to be with Christ, which is best of all.
1:24	Neuerthelesse, to abide in the flesh, is more needefull for you.
1:25	And this am I sure of, that I shall abide, and with you all continue, for your furtherance and ioy of your faith,
1:26	That ye may more aboundantly reioyce in IESVS CHRIST for me, by my comming to you againe.
1:27	Onely let your conuersation be, as it becommeth the Gospel of Christ, that whether I come and see you, or els be absent, I may heare of your matters that ye continue in one Spirit, and in one mind, fighting together through the faith of the Gospel.
1:28	And in nothing feare your aduersaries, which is to them a token of perdition, and to you of saluation, and that of God.
1:29	For vnto you it is giuen for Christ, that not onely ye should beleeue in him, but also suffer for his sake,
1:30	Hauing the same fight, which ye sawe in me, and nowe heare to be in me.


1:1	Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
1:2	Grace be to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:3	I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
1:4	always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy,
1:5	for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now,
1:6	being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
1:7	just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of my grace.
1:8	Because, God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.
1:9	And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and in all discernment,
1:10	that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ,
1:11	being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
1:12	But I want you to understand, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,
1:13	so that it has become evident to the entire palace, and to every other place, that my chains are in Christ;
1:14	and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
1:15	Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill:
1:16	The former preach Christ from contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains;
1:17	but the other out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel.
1:18	What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.
1:19	Because, I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
1:20	according to my earnest expectation and my hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.
1:21	Because to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
1:22	But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I do not know.
1:23	Because, I am hard pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.
1:24	Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
1:25	And being confident of this, I know that I will abide and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith,
1:26	that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.
1:27	Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel,
1:28	and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
1:29	Because, to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for His sake,
1:30	having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.
