Philippians - Chapter: 2

>
2:1Therfor if ony coumfort is in Crist, if ony solace of charite, if ony felouschipe of spirit, if ony inwardnesse of merci doyng,
2:2fille ye my ioye, that ye vndurstonde the same thing, and haue the same charite, of o wille, and feelen the same thing;
2:3no thing bi strijf, nether by veyn glorie, but in mekenesse, demynge eche othere to be heiyer than hym silf;
2:4not biholdinge ech bi hym silf what thingis ben his owne, but tho thingis that ben of othere men.
2:5And fele ye this thing in you, which also in Crist Jhesu;
2:6that whanne he was in the forme of God, demyde not raueyn, that hym silf were euene to God;
2:7but he lowide hym silf, takinge the forme of a seruaunt, and was maad in to the licknesse of men, and in abite was foundun as a man.
2:8He mekide hym silf, and was maad obedient to the deth, yhe, to the deth of the cross.
2:9For which thing God enhaunside hym, and yaf to hym a name that is aboue al name;
2:10that in the name of Jhesu ech kne be bowid, of heuenli thingis, of ertheli thingis, and of hellis;
2:11and ech tunge knouleche, that the Lord Jhesu Crist is in the glorie of God the fadir.
2:12Therfor, my most dereworthe britheren, as euere more ye han obeischid, not in my presence onely, but myche more now in myn absence, worche ye with drede and trembling youre heelthe.
2:13For it is God that worchith in you, bothe to wilne, and to performe, for good wille.
2:14And do ye alle thingis with out grutchingis and doutyngis;
2:15that ye be with out playnt, and symple as the sones of God, with out repreef, in the myddil of a schrewid nacioun and a weiward; among whiche ye schynen as yyueris of liyt in the world.
2:16And holde ye togidere the word of lijf to my glorie in the day of Crist; for Y haue not runnen in veyn, nether Y haue trauelid in veyn.
2:17But thouy Y be offrid or slayn on the sacrifice and seruyce of youre feith, Y haue ioye, and Y thanke you alle.
2:18And the same thing haue ye ioye, and thanke ye me.
2:19And Y hope in the Lord Jhesu, that Y schal sende Tymothe soone to you, that Y be of good coumfort, whanne tho thingis ben knowun that ben aboute you.
2:20For Y haue no man so of o wille, that is bisi for you with clene affeccioun.
2:21For alle men seken tho thingis that ben her owne, not tho that ben of Crist Jhesu.
2:22But knowe ye the asaie of hym, for as a sone to the fadir he hath seruyd with me in the gospel.
2:23Therfor Y hope that Y schal sende hym to you, anoon as Y se what thingis ben aboute me.
2:24And Y triste in the Lord, that also my silf schal come to you soone.
2:25And Y gesside it nedeful to sende to you Epafrodite, my brother and euene worchere, and myn euene knyyt, but youre apostle, and the mynystre of my nede.
2:26For he desiride you alle, and he was sorewful, therfor that ye herden that he was sijk.
2:27For he was sijk to the deth, but God hadde merci on him; and not oneli on hym, but also on me, lest Y hadde heuynesse on heuynesse.
2:28Therfor more hastili Y sente hym, that whanne ye han seyn hym, ye haue ioye eft, and Y be withouten heuynesse.
2:29Therfor resseyue ye hym with al ioye in the Lord, and haue ye suche with al onour.
2:30For the werk of Crist he wente to deth, yyuynge his lijf, that he schulde fulfille that that failide of you anentis my seruyce.

2:1If there be therfore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of loue, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any compassion and mercie,
2:2Fulfill my ioye, that ye be like minded, hauing the same loue, being of one accorde, and of one iudgement,
2:3That nothing be done through contention or vaine glory, but that in meekenesse of minde euery man esteeme other better then himselfe.
2:4Looke not euery man on his owne things, but euery man also on the things of other men.
2:5Let the same minde be in you that was euen in Christ Iesus,
2:6Who being in ye forme of God, thought it no robberie to be equall with God:
2:7But he made himself of no reputation, and tooke on him ye forme of a seruant, and was made like vnto men, and was founde in shape as a man.
2:8He humbled himselfe, and became obedient vnto the death, euen the death of the Crosse.
2:9Wherefore God hath also highly exalted him, and giuen him a Name aboue euery name,
2:10That at the Name of Iesus shoulde euery knee bowe, both of things in heauen, and things in earth, and things vnder the earth,
2:11And that euery tongue shoulde confesse that Iesus Christ is the Lord, vnto the glory of God the Father.
2:12Wherefore my beloued, as ye haue alwayes obeyed me, not as in my presence only, but now much more in mine absence, so make an end of your owne saluation with feare and trembling.
2:13For it is God which worketh in you, both the will and the deede, euen of his good pleasure.
2:14Do all things without murmuring and reasonings,
2:15That ye may be blamelesse, and pure, and the sonnes of God without rebuke in the middes of a naughtie and crooked nation, among whom yee shine as lights in the world,
2:16Holding forth the worde of life, that I may reioyce in the day of Christ, that I haue not runne in vaine, neither haue laboured in vaine.
2:17Yea, and though I bee offered vp vpon the sacrifice, and seruice of your faith, I am glad, and reioyce with you all.
2:18For the same cause also be ye glad, and reioyce with me.
2:19And I trust in the Lord Iesus, to sende Timotheus shortly vnto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I knowe your state.
2:20For I haue no man like minded, who will faithfully care for your matters.
2:21For all seeke their owne, and not that which is Iesus Christes.
2:22But yee knowe the proofe of him, that as a sonne with the father, hee hath serued with me in the Gospel.
2:23Him therefore I hope to send assoone as I knowe howe it will goe with me,
2:24And trust in the Lord, that I also my selfe shall come shortly.
2:25But I supposed it necessarie to sende my brother Epaphroditus vnto you, my companion in labour, and fellowe souldier, euen your messenger, and he that ministred vnto me such things as I wanted.
2:26For he longed after all you, and was full of heauinesse, because yee had heard that hee had beene sicke.
2:27And no doubt he was sicke, very neere vnto death: but God had mercie on him, and not on him onely, but on me also, least I should haue sorowe vpon sorowe.
2:28I sent him therefore the more diligently, that when yee shoulde see him againe, yee might reioyce, and I might be the lesse sorowfull.
2:29Receiue him therefore in the Lord with all gladnesse, and make much of such:
2:30Because that for the woorke of Christ he was neere vnto death, and regarded not his life, to fulfill that seruice which was lacking on your part towarde me.

2:1Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,
2:2fulfill my joy by being likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
2:3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.
2:4Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
2:5Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
2:6who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
2:7but made Himself of no reputation, and took on Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.
2:8And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.
2:9Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him a name which is above every name,
2:10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
2:11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
2:12Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with reverence and trembling;
2:13because, it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
2:14Do all things without complaining and disputing,
2:15that you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
2:16holding forth the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.
2:17Yes, and if I am being offered on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
2:18For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.
2:19But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state.
2:20Because I have no one likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
2:21Because all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
2:22But you know his proven character, that like a son with his father, he served with me in the gospel.
2:23Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it will go with me.
2:24But I trust in the Lord that I myself shall also come shortly.
2:25Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and he who ministered to my need;
2:26since he was longing for you all, and was full of heaviness, because you had heard that he had been sick.
2:27Because, indeed he was sick almost to death; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
2:28Therefore I sent him the more eagerly, that when you see him again you may rejoice, and I may be less sorrowful.
2:29Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem;
2:30because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.
