Deuteronomy - Chapter: 22

>
22:1Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his sheep go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any case bring them again unto thy brother.
22:2And if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again.
22:3In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of thy brother's, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself.
22:4Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.
22:5The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.
22:6If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:
22:7But thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.
22:8When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.
22:9Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.
22:10Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together.
22:11Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together.
22:12Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.
22:13If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,
22:14And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
22:15Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
22:16And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;
22:17And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
22:18And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
22:19And they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
22:20But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:
22:21Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.
22:22If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.
22:23If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;
22:24Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.
22:25But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:
22:26But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
22:27For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.
22:28If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
22:29Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
22:30A man shall not take his father's wife, nor discover his father's skirt.

 

22:1לא תראה את שׁור אחיך או את שׂיו נדחים והתעלמת מהם השׁב תשׁיבם לאחיך׃
22:2ואם לא קרוב אחיך אליך ולא ידעתו ואספתו אל תוך ביתך והיה עמך עד דרשׁ אחיך אתו והשׁבתו׃
22:3וכן תעשׂה לחמרו וכן תעשׂה לשׂמלתו וכן תעשׂה לכל אבדת אחיך אשׁר תאבד ממנו ומצאתה לא תוכל להתעלם׃
22:4לא תראה את חמור אחיך או שׁורו נפלים בדרך והתעלמת מהם הקם תקים עמו׃
22:5לא יהיה כלי גבר על אשׁה ולא ילבשׁ גבר שׂמלת אשׁה כי תועבת יהוה אלהיך כל עשׂה אלה׃
22:6כי יקרא קן צפור לפניך בדרך בכל עץ או על הארץ אפרחים או ביצים והאם רבצת על האפרחים או על הביצים לא תקח האם על הבנים׃
22:7שׁלח תשׁלח את האם ואת הבנים תקח לך למען ייטב לך והארכת ימים׃
22:8כי תבנה בית חדשׁ ועשׂית מעקה לגגך ולא תשׂים דמים בביתך כי יפל הנפל ממנו׃
22:9לא תזרע כרמך כלאים פן תקדשׁ המלאה הזרע אשׁר תזרע ותבואת הכרם׃
22:10לא תחרשׁ בשׁור ובחמר יחדו׃
22:11לא תלבשׁ שׁעטנז צמר ופשׁתים יחדו׃
22:12גדלים תעשׂה לך על ארבע כנפות כסותך אשׁר תכסה׃
22:13כי יקח אישׁ אשׁה ובא אליה ושׂנאה׃
22:14ושׂם לה עלילת דברים והוצא עליה שׁם רע ואמר את האשׁה הזאת לקחתי ואקרב אליה ולא מצאתי לה בתולים׃
22:15ולקח אבי הנער ואמה והוציאו את בתולי הנער אל זקני העיר השׁערה׃
22:16ואמר אבי הנער אל הזקנים את בתי נתתי לאישׁ הזה לאשׁה וישׂנאה׃
22:17והנה הוא שׂם עלילת דברים לאמר לא מצאתי לבתך בתולים ואלה בתולי בתי ופרשׂו השׂמלה לפני זקני העיר׃
22:18ולקחו זקני העיר ההוא את האישׁ ויסרו אתו׃
22:19וענשׁו אתו מאה כסף ונתנו לאבי הנערה כי הוציא שׁם רע על בתולת ישׂראל ולו תהיה לאשׁה לא יוכל לשׁלחה כל ימיו׃
22:20ואם אמת היה הדבר הזה לא נמצאו בתולים לנער׃
22:21והוציאו את הנער אל פתח בית אביה וסקלוה אנשׁי עירה באבנים ומתה כי עשׂתה נבלה בישׂראל לזנות בית אביה ובערת הרע מקרבך׃
22:22כי ימצא אישׁ שׁכב עם אשׁה בעלת בעל ומתו גם שׁניהם האישׁ השׁכב עם האשׁה והאשׁה ובערת הרע מישׂראל׃
22:23כי יהיה נער בתולה מארשׂה לאישׁ ומצאה אישׁ בעיר ושׁכב עמה׃
22:24והוצאתם את שׁניהם אל שׁער העיר ההוא וסקלתם אתם באבנים ומתו את הנער על דבר אשׁר לא צעקה בעיר ואת האישׁ על דבר אשׁר ענה את אשׁת רעהו ובערת הרע מקרבך׃
22:25ואם בשׂדה ימצא האישׁ את הנער המארשׂה והחזיק בה האישׁ ושׁכב עמה ומת האישׁ אשׁר שׁכב עמה לבדו׃
22:26ולנער לא תעשׂה דבר אין לנער חטא מות כי כאשׁר יקום אישׁ על רעהו ורצחו נפשׁ כן הדבר הזה׃
22:27כי בשׂדה מצאה צעקה הנער המארשׂה ואין מושׁיע׃
22:28כי ימצא אישׁ נער בתולה אשׁר לא ארשׂה ותפשׂה ושׁכב עמה ונמצאו׃
22:29ונתן האישׁ השׁכב עמה לאבי הנער חמשׁים כסף ולו תהיה לאשׁה תחת אשׁר ענה לא יוכל שׁלחה כל ימיו׃
22:30(23:1) לא יקח אישׁ את אשׁת אביו ולא יגלה כנף אביו׃

 

22:1`Thou dost not see the ox of thy brother or his sheep driven away, and hast hidden thyself from them, thou dost certainly turn them back to thy brother;
22:2and if thy brother `is' not near unto thee, and thou hast not known him, then thou hast removed it unto the midst of thy house, and it hath been with thee till thy brother seek it, and thou hast given it back to him;
22:3and so thou dost to his ass, and so thou dost to his garment, and so thou dost to any lost thing of thy brother's, which is lost by him, and thou hast found it; thou art not able to hide thyself.
22:4`Thou dost not see the ass of thy brother, or his ox, falling in the way, and hast hid thyself from them; thou dost certainly raise `them' up with him.
22:5`The habiliments of a man are not on a woman, nor doth a man put on the garment of a woman, for the abomination of Jehovah thy God `is' any one doing these.
22:6`When a bird's nest cometh before thee in the way, in any tree, or on the earth, brood or eggs, and the mother sitting on the brood or on the eggs, thou dost not take the mother with the young ones;
22:7thou dost certainly send away the mother, and the young ones dost take to thyself, so that it is well with thee, and thou hast prolonged days.
22:8`When thou buildest a new house, then thou hast made a parapet to thy roof, and thou dost not put blood on thy house when one falleth from it.
22:9`Thou dost not sow thy vineyard `with' divers things, lest the fulness of the seed which thou dost sow, and the increase of the vineyard, be separated.
22:10`Thou dost not plow with an ox and with an ass together.
22:11`Thou dost not put on a mixed cloth, wool and linen together.
22:12`Fringes thou dost make to thee on the four skirts of thy covering with which thou dost cover `thyself'.
22:13`When a man taketh a wife, and hath gone in unto her, and hated her,
22:14and laid against her actions of words, and brought out against her an evil name, and said, This woman I have taken, and I draw near unto her, and I have not found in her tokens of virginity:
22:15`Then hath the father of the damsel -- and her mother -- taken and brought out the tokens of virginity of the damsel unto the elders of the city in the gate,
22:16and the father of the damsel hath said unto the elders, My daughter I have given to this man for a wife, and he doth hate her;
22:17and lo, he hath laid actions of words, saying, I have not found to thy daughter tokens of virginity -- and these `are' the tokens of the virginity of my daughter! and they have spread out the garment before the elders of the city.
22:18`And the elders of that city have taken the man, and chastise him,
22:19and fined him a hundred silverlings, and given to the father of the damsel, because he hath brought out an evil name on a virgin of Israel, and she is to him for a wife, he is not able to send her away all his days.
22:20`And if this thing hath been truth -- tokens of virginity have not been found for the damsel --
22:21then they have brought out the damsel unto the opening of her father's house, and stoned her have the men of her city with stones, and she hath died, for she hath done folly in Israel, to go a-whoring `in' her father's house; and thou hast put away the evil thing out of thy midst.
22:22`When a man is found lying with a woman, married to a husband, then they have died even both of them, the man who is lying with the woman, also the woman; and thou hast put away the evil thing out of Israel.
22:23`When there is a damsel, a virgin, betrothed to a man, and a man hath found her in a city, and lain with her;
22:24then ye have brought them both out unto the gate of that city, and stoned them with stones, and they have died: -- the damsel, because that she hath not cried, `being' in a city; and the man, because that he hath humbled his neighbour's wife; and thou hast put away the evil thing out of thy midst.
22:25`And if in a field the man find the damsel who is betrothed, and the man hath laid hold on her, and lain with her, then hath the man who hath lain with her died alone;
22:26and to the damsel thou dost not do anything, the damsel hath no deadly sin; for as a man riseth against his neighbour and hath murdered him -- the life, so `is' this thing;
22:27for in a field he found her, she hath cried -- the damsel who is betrothed -- and she hath no saviour.
22:28`When a man findeth a damsel, a virgin who is not betrothed, and hath caught her, and lain with her, and they have been found,
22:29then hath the man who is lying with her given to the father of the damsel fifty silverlings, and to him she is for a wife; because that he hath humbled her, he is not able to send her away all his days.
22:30`A man doth not take his father's wife, nor uncover his father's skirt.
