| 2:1 | For your selues, brethren, knowe our entrance in vnto you, that it was not in vaine. |
| 2:2 | But euen after that wee had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, wee were bold in our God, to speake vnto you the Gospel of God with much contention. |
| 2:3 | For our exhortation was not of deceite, nor of vncleannesse, nor in guile: |
| 2:4 | But as we were allowed of God to bee put in trust with the Gospel, euen so wee speake, not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. |
| 2:5 | For neither at any time vsed wee flattering wordes, as yee knowe, nor a cloke of couetousnesse, God is witnesse: |
| 2:6 | Nor of men sought we glorie, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might haue beene burdensome, as the Apostles of Christ. |
| 2:7 | But wee were gentle among you, euen as a nurse cherisheth her children: |
| 2:8 | So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to haue imparted vnto you, not the Gospel of God only, but also our owne soules, because ye were deare vnto vs. |
| 2:9 | For yee remember, brethren, our labour and trauaile: for labourng night and day, because wee would not bee chargeable vnto any of you, wee preached vnto you the Gospel of God. |
| 2:10 | Yee are witnesses, and God also, how holily, and iustly, and vnblameably wee behaued our selues among you that beleeue. |
| 2:11 | As you know, how wee exhorted and comforted, and charged euery one of you, (as a father doeth his children,) |
| 2:12 | That ye would walke worthy of God, who hath called you vnto his kingdome and glory. |
| 2:13 | For this cause also thanke wee God without ceasing, because when yee receiued the word of God, which yee heard of vs, yee receiued it not as the word of men, but (as it is in trueth) the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that beleeue. |
| 2:14 | For yee, brethren, became followers of the Churches of God, which in Iudea are in Christ Iesus: for ye also haue suffered like things of your owne countreymen, euen as they haue of the Iewes: |
| 2:15 | Who both killed the Lord Iesus, and their owne Prophets, and haue persecuted vs: and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: |
| 2:16 | Forbidding vs to speake to the Gentiles, that they might bee saued, to fill vp their sinnes alway: for the wrath is come vpon them to the vttermost. |
| 2:17 | But wee, brethren, beeing taken from you for a short time, in presence, not in heart, endeuored the more abundantly to see your face with great desire. |
| 2:18 | Wherefore we would haue come vnto you (euen I Paul) once & againe: but Satan hindered vs. |
| 2:19 | For what is our hope, or ioy, or crowne of reioycing? Are not euen ye in the presence of our Lord Iesus Christ at his comming? |
| 2:20 | For, ye are our glory and ioy. |
| 2:1 | For ye youre selues (brethren) knowe of oure intrauce vnto you, how that it was not in vayne, |
| 2:2 | but as we had suffred afore, & were shamefully intreated at Philippos (as ye knowe) we were bolde in oure God, to speake vnto you ye Gospel of God with moch stryuynge. |
| 2:3 | For oure exhortacion was not to brynge you to erroure ner yet to vnclennes, nether was it with gyle: |
| 2:4 | but as we are alowed of God, that the Gospell shulde be commytted vnto vs to preache, euen so we speake, not as though we wolde please me, but God, which tryeth oure hertes. |
| 2:5 | For we haue not gone aboute with flateringe wordes (as ye knowe) ner wayted for oure owne profit ( God is recorde) |
| 2:6 | nether soughte we prayse of men, nether of you ner of eny other, whan we mighte haue bene chargeable vnto you as the Apostles off Christ, |
| 2:7 | but we were tender amonge you. Like as a norsse cherisheth hir children, |
| 2:8 | euen so had we hartely affeccion towarde you, and wolde with good wyl haue dealte vnto you, not onely the Gospell of God, but oure lyues also, because ye were deare vnto vs. |
| 2:9 | Ye remembre brethren oure laboure and trauayle. For daye and nighte wroughte we (because we wolde not be chargeable vnto eny of you) and preached the Gospell of God amonge you. |
| 2:10 | Ye are witnesses, and so is God, how holyly and iustly and vnblameable we behaued oure selues amoge you that beleue: |
| 2:11 | as ye knowe, how that as a father his children, euen so exhorted we and comforted and besoughte euery one of you, |
| 2:12 | that ye wolde walke worthely before God, which hath called you vnto his kyngdome & glory. |
| 2:13 | For this cause thanke we God without ceassynge, because that wha ye receaued of vs the worde of the preachinge of God, ye receaued it not as ye worde of men, but (eue as it is of a trueth) the worde of God, which worketh in you that beleue. |
| 2:14 | For ye brethren are become the folowers off the congregacions off God which in Iewry are in Christ Iesu, so that ye haue suffred euen like thinges of youre kynsmen, as they haue suffred of the Iewes. |
| 2:15 | Which as they put the LORDE Iesus to death, and their awne prophetes, euen so haue they persecuted vs also, and please not God, and are cotrary to all men, |
| 2:16 | forbyddinge vs to speake vnto the Heythen that they mighte be saued, to fulfill their synnes allwaye: for the wrath is come vpon them allready vnto ye vttemost. |
| 2:17 | But we (brethren) for as moch as we haue bene kepte from you for a season, as concernynge the bodely presence, but not in the hert, we haue haisted the more with greate desyre to se you personally. |
| 2:18 | Therfore wolde we haue come vnto you, (I Paul) two tymes, but Sathan withstode vs. |
| 2:19 | For who is oure hope, or ioye, or crowne of reioysinge? are not ye it in ye sighte of oure LORDE Iesus Christ at his commynge? |
| 2:20 | Yes ye are oure prayse and ioye. |
| 2:1 | For, britheren, ye witen oure entre to you, for it was not veyn; |
| 2:2 | but first we suffriden, and weren punyschid with wrongis, as ye witen in Filippis, and hadden trust in oure Lord, to speke to you the gospel of God in myche bisynesse. |
| 2:3 | And oure exortacioun is not of errour, nether of vnclennesse, nether in gile, |
| 2:4 | but as we ben preued of God, that the gospel of God schulde be takun to vs, so we speken; not as plesynge to men, but to God that preueth oure hertis. |
| 2:5 | For nether we weren ony tyme in word of glosing, as ye witen, nether in occasioun of auerise; God is witnesse; nether sekinge glorie of men, |
| 2:6 | nether of you, |
| 2:7 | nether of othere, whanne we, as Cristis apostlis, miyten haue be in charge to you. But we weren maad litle in the myddil of you, as if a nursche fostre hir sones; |
| 2:8 | so we desiringe you with greet loue, wolden haue bitake to you, not oneli the gospel of God, but also oure lyues, for ye ben maad most dereworthe to vs. |
| 2:9 | For, britheren, ye ben myndeful of oure trauel and werynesse; we worchiden nyyt and day, that we schulden not greue ony of you, and prechiden to you the euangelie of God. |
| 2:10 | God and ye ben witnessis, hou holili, and iustli, and with outen pleynt, we weren to you that bileueden. |
| 2:11 | As ye witen, hou we preyeden you, and coumfortiden ech of you, as the fadir hise sones, |
| 2:12 | and we han witnessid, that ye schulden go worthili to God, that clepide you in to his kingdom and glorie. |
| 2:13 | Therfor we doon thankingis to God with outen ceessyng. For whanne ye hadden take of vs the word `of the heryng of God, ye token it not as the word of men, but as `it is verili, the word of God, that worchith in you that han bileued. |
| 2:14 | For, britheren, ye ben maad foleweris of the chirchis of God, that ben in Jude, in Crist Jhesu, for ye han suffrid the same thingis of youre euene lynagis, as thei of the Jewis. |
| 2:15 | Whiche slowen bothe the Lord Jhesu and the profetis, and pursueden vs, and thei plesen not to God, and thei ben aduersaries to alle men; |
| 2:16 | forbedinge vs to speke to hethene men, that thei be maad saaf, that thei fille her synnes euere more; for the wraththe of God cam on hem in to the ende. |
| 2:17 | And, britheren, we desolat fro you for a tyme, bi mouth and in biholding, but not in herte, han hiyed more plenteuousli to se youre face with greet desir. |
| 2:18 | For we wolden come to you, yhe, Y Poul, onys and eftsoone, but Sathanas lettide vs. |
| 2:19 | For whi what is oure hope, or ioye, or coroun of glorie? Whether ye ben not bifore oure Lord Jhesu Crist in his comyng? |
| 2:20 | For ye ben oure glorie and ioye. |
