>
5:1But, britheren, of tymes and momentis ye neden not that Y write to you.
5:2For ye silf witen diligentli, that the dai of the Lord schal come, as a theef in the niyt.
5:3For whanne thei schulen seie pees is, and sikirnesse, thanne sudeyn deth schal come on hem, as sorewe to a womman that is with child, and thei schulen not scape.
5:4But, britheren, ye ben not in derknessis, that the ilke dai as a theef catche you.
5:5For alle ye ben the sones of liyt, and sones of dai; we ben not of niyt, nether of derknessis.
5:6Therfor slepe we not as othere; but wake we, and be we sobre.
5:7For thei that slepen, slepen in the niyt, and thei that ben drunkun, ben drunkun in the niyt.
5:8But we that ben of the dai, ben sobre, clothid in the haburioun of feith and of charite, and in the helme of hope of heelthe.
5:9For God puttide not vs in to wraththe, but in to the purchasing of heelthe bi oure Lord Jhesu Crist, that was deed for vs;
5:10that whether we waken, whether we slepen, we lyue togidere with him.
5:11For which thing comforte ye togidere, and edefie ye ech other, as ye doon.
5:12And, britheren, we preien you, that ye knowen hem that trauelen among you, and ben souereyns to you in the Lord, and techen you,
5:13that ye han hem more aboundantli in charyte; and for the werk of hem, haue ye pees with hem.
5:14And, britheren, we preien you, repreue ye vnpesible men. Coumforte ye men of litil herte, resseyue ye sijke men, be ye pacient to alle men.
5:15Se ye, that no man yelde yuel for yuel to ony man; but euere more sue ye that that is good, ech to othere and to alle men.
5:16Euere more ioye ye;
5:17without ceessing preye ye;
5:18in alle thingis do ye thankyngis. For this is the wille of God in Crist Jhesu, in alle you.
5:19Nyle ye quenche the spirit;
5:20nyle ye dispise prophecies.
5:21But preue ye alle thingis, and holde ye that thing that is good.
5:22Absteyne you fro al yuel spice.
5:23And God hym silf of pees make you hooli bi alle thingis, that youre spirit be kept hool, and soule, and bodi, without pleynt, in the comyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.
5:24God is trewe, that clepide you, which also schal do.
5:25Britheren, preye ye for vs.
5:26Grete ye wel alle britheren in hooli cos.
5:27Y coniure you bi the Lord, that this pistle be red to alle hooli britheren.
5:28The grace of oure Lord Jhesu Crist be with you. Amen.

5:1Bvt of the times and seasons, brethren, yee haue no neede that I write vnto you.
5:2For ye your selues knowe perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall come, euen as a thiefe in the night.
5:3For when they shall say, Peace, and safetie, then shall come vpon them sudden destruction, as the trauaile vpon a woman with childe, and they shall not escape,
5:4But ye, brethren, are not in darkenes, that that day shall come on you, as it were a thiefe.
5:5Yee are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, neither of darkenesse.
5:6Therefore let vs not sleepe as do other, but let vs watch and be sober.
5:7For they that sleepe, sleepe in the night, and they that be drunken, are drunken in the night.
5:8But let vs which are of the day, be sober, putting on the brest plate of faith and loue, and of the hope of saluation for an helmet.
5:9For God hath not appointed vs vnto wrath, but to obtaine saluation by the meanes of our Lord Iesus Christ,
5:10Which died for vs, that whether we wake or sleepe, we should liue together with him.
5:11Wherefore exhort one another, and edifie one another, euen as ye doe.
5:12Nowe we beseeche you, brethren, that ye acknowledge them, which labour among you, and are ouer you in the Lord, and admonish you,
5:13That yee haue them in singular loue for their workes sake. Bee at peace among your selues.
5:14We desire you, brethren, admonish them that are out of order: comfort ye feeble minded: beare with the weake: be pacient toward all men.
5:15See that none recompense euil for euil vnto any man: but euer follow that which is good, both toward your selues, and toward all men.
5:16Reioyce euermore.
5:17Pray continually.
5:18In all thinges giue thankes: for this is the will of God in Christ Iesus toward you.
5:19Quench not the Spirit.
5:20Despise not prophecying.
5:21Try all things, and keepe that which is good.
5:22Absteine from all appearance of euill.
5:23Nowe the very God of peace sanctifie you throughout: and I pray God that your whole spirite and soule and body, may be kept blamelesse vnto the comming of our Lord Iesus Christ.
5:24Faithfull is hee which calleth you, which will also doe it.
5:25Brethren, pray for vs.
5:26Greete all the brethren with an holy kisse.
5:27I charge you in the Lord, that this Epistle be read vnto all the brethren the Saintes.
5:28The grace of our Lord Iesus Christ be with you, Amen.

5:1But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you do not have any need that I write to you.
5:2Because, you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night.
5:3Because, when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, like labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they will not escape.
5:4But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that this Day should overtake you like a thief.
5:5You are all the children of light, and the children of the day, we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
5:6Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
5:7Because, those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who are drunk are drunk at night.
5:8But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.
5:9Because, God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
5:10who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
5:11Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
5:12And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and advise you,
5:13and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
5:14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are disorderly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient towards everyone.
5:15See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue that which is good both for yourselves, and for everyone.
5:16Rejoice always,
5:17pray without ceasing,
5:18in everything give thanks; because this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
5:19Do not quench the Spirit.
5:20Do not despise prophecies.
5:21Test all things; hold firmly to that which is good.
5:22Abstain from every appearance of evil.
5:23And may the God of peace sanctify you completely; and I ask God that your entire spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
5:24He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
5:25Brethren, pray for us.
5:26Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.
5:27I command you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy brethren.
5:28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
