1 Timothy - Chapter: 1

>
1:1Paul an Apostle of Iesus Christ by the commaundement of God our Sauiour, & Lord Iesus Christ which is our hope,
1:2Unto Timothie my own sonne in the Faith: Grace, mercie, and peace from God our Father, and Iesus Christ our Lord.
1:3As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
1:4Neither giue heed to fables, and endlesse genealogies, which minister questions, rather then edifying which is in faith: so doe.
1:5Now the end of the commandement is charity, out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith vnfained.
1:6From which some hauing swarued, haue turned aside vnto vaine iangling,
1:7Desiring to bee teachers of the Law, vnderstading neither what they say, nor whereof they affirme.
1:8But we know that the Law is good, if a man vse it lawfully.
1:9Knowing this, that the Law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawlesse and disobedient, for the vngodly, and for sinners, for vnholy, and profane, for murderers of fathers, and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1:10For whoremongers, for them that defile themselues with mankinde, for men-stealers, for liars, for periured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine,
1:11According to the glorious Gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
1:12And I thanke Christ Iesus our Lord, who hath enabled mee: for that he counted me faithfull, putting me into the Ministerie,
1:13Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecuter, and iniurious. But I obtained mercie, because I did it ignorantly, in vnbeliefe.
1:14And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant, with faith, & loue, which is in Christ Iesus.
1:15This is a faithfull saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Iesus came into the world to saue sinners, of whom I am chiefe.
1:16Howbeit, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first, Iesus Christ might shew foorth all long suffering, for a paterne to them which should hereafter beleeue on him to life euerlasting.
1:17Now vnto ye king eternal, immortall, inuisible, the onely wise God, be honour and glory for euer & euer. Amen.
1:18This charge I commit vnto thee, sonne Timothie, according to the prophesies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest warre a good warfare,
1:19Holding faith, and a good conscience, which some hauing put away, concerning faith, haue made shipwracke.
1:20Of whom is Hymeneus and Alexander, whome I haue deliuered vnto Satan, that they may learne not to blaspheme.

1:1Paul an Apostle of Iesus Christ acordinge to the commaundement of God oure Sauioure, and of the LORDE Iesus Christ, which is oure hope.
1:2Vnto Timothy my naturall sonne in the faith. Grace, mercy, and peace from God oure father, and oure LORDE Iesus Christ.
1:3As I besoughte ye to abyde still at Ephesus ( whan I departed in to Macedonia) eue so do, that thou commaunde some, that they teach none other wyse,
1:4nether geue hede to fables and genealogies, which are endlesse, and brede doutes more then godly edifyenge, which is by faith.
1:5For ye chefe summe of the commaundement is loue of a pure hert, and of a good coscience, and of faith vnfayned.
1:6From the which some haue erred, & haue turned vnto vayne iangelynge,
1:7wyllinge to be doctours of the scripture, and vnderstonde not what they speake, nether wherof they affirme.
1:8But we knowe that the lawe is good, yf a man vse it laufully,
1:9vnderstodinge this, that the lawe is not geuen vnto the righteous, but to the vnrighteous & dishobedient, to the vngodly & to synners, to the vnholy & vncleane, to murthurers of fathers and murthurers of mothers, to manslayers,
1:10to whoremongers, to the that defyle them selues with mankynde, to menstealers, to lyars, to periured, & so forth yf there be eny other thinge yt is cotrary to ye wholsome doctryne,
1:11acordinge to ye Gospell of ye glory of the blessed God, which (Gospell) is comytted vnto me.
1:12And I thanke Christ Iesus or LORDE, which hath made me stroge, for he counted me faithfull, & put me in office,
1:13wha before I was a blasphemer, & a persecuter, & a tyraunt: but I optayned mercy, because I dyd it ignorauntly in vnbeleue.
1:14Neuertheles the grace of or LORDE was more abudaunt thorow ye faith & loue which is in Christ Iesu.
1:15For this is a true sayenge, and by all meanes worthy to be receaued, that Christ Iesus came in to ye worlde to saue synners, of whom I am chefe.
1:16Notwithstondynge for this cause optayned I mercy, that Iesus Christ mighte pryncipally shewe in me all longe pacience, to the ensample of them which shulde beleue in him vnto eternall life.
1:17So then vnto God kynge euerlastinge, immortall and invisible, and wyse onely, be honoure and prayse for euer and euer Amen.
1:18This commaundement commytte I vnto the (my sonne Timotheus) acordinge to ye prophecies which in tyme past were prophecied of the, that thou in them shuldest fighte a good fighte,
1:19hauynge faith & good conscience, which some haue put awaye fro them, and as concernynge faith haue made shypwrake:
1:20of whose nombre is Hymeneos and Alexander, whom I haue delyuered vnto Sathan, that they might be taught, nomore to blaspheme.

1:1Poul, apostle `of Jhesu Crist, bi the comaundement of God oure sauyour, and of Jhesu Crist oure hope,
1:2to Tymothe, bilouyd sone in the feith, grace and merci and pees, of God the fadir, and of Jhesu Crist, oure Lord.
1:3As Y preyede thee, that thou schuldist dwelle at Effesi, whanne Y wente into Macedonye, that thou schuldist denounce to summe men, that thei schulden not teche othere weie,
1:4nether yyue tent to fablis and genologies that ben vncerteyn, whiche yyuen questiouns, more than edificacioun of God, that is in the feith.
1:5For the ende of comaundement is charite of clene herte, and good conscience, and of feith not feyned.
1:6Fro whiche thingis sum men han errid, and ben turned in to veyn speche;
1:7and willith to be techeris of the lawe, and vndurstonden not what thingis thei speken, nether of what thingis thei affermen.
1:8And we witen that the lawe is good, if ony man vse it lawefulli;
1:9and witinge this thing, that the lawe is not set to a iust man, but to vniust men and not suget, to wickid men and to synneris, to cursid men and defoulid, to sleeris of fadir, and sleeris of modir, to `men sleeris and lechouris,
1:10to hem that don letcherie with men, lesingmongeris and forsworun, and if ony othere thing is contrarie to the hoolsum teching,
1:11that is aftir the euangelie of the glorie of blessid God, which is bitakun to me.
1:12Y do thankingis to hym, that coumfortide me in Crist Jhesu oure Lord, for he gesside me feithful, and putte me in mynystrie,
1:13that first was a blasfeme, and a pursuere, and ful of wrongis. But Y haue getun the merci of God, for Y vnknowinge dide in vnbileue.
1:14But the grace of oure Lord ouer aboundide, with feith and loue that is in Crist Jhesu.
1:15A trewe word and worthi al resseyuyng, for Crist Jhesu cam in to this world to make synful men saaf, of whiche Y am the firste.
1:16But therfor Y haue getun merci, that Crist Jhesu schulde schewe in me first al pacience, to the enfourmyng of hem that schulen bileue to hym in to euerlastinge lijf.
1:17And to the king of worldis, vndeedli and vnvysible God aloone, be onour and glorie in to worldis of worldis. Amen.
1:18I bitake this comaundement to thee, thou sone Timothe, after the prophecies that han be hertofore in thee, that thou traueile in hem a good trauel,
1:19hauynge feith and good conscience, which summen casten awei, and perischiden aboute the feith.
1:20Of whiche is Ymeneus and Alisaundre, which Y bitook to Sathanas, that thei lerne `to not blasfeme.
